The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> "Lead the way, master."
Akshay grinned.
This way, my young apprentice.”
Since Akshay didn’t have the fantabulous power of walking through mirrors and cutting corners, Akshay would lead Gawain there by foot. Obviously he was too drunk to ride his ducati, and since Mirror didn’t believe in cars it seemed, Akshay was only too happy to take in the night air with a friend. At least that is how it seemed this night was going. Maybe without the notion of dating a certain sister, there was actually room for these two of grow.
After taking a moment to switch out of his costume and into regular street clothes (since he didn’t want to hog all the ladies with his awesome superhero gear), Akshay was ready to go. Down to just a jeans, his Spectacular Man t-shirt, and leather jacket, he closed and locked the shop door behind them and moved on towards 66th.
Thankfully it wasn’t too far of a walk. It seemed that it only took moments since, after they rounded a couple of corners, the blare of neonlights struck their eyes. Just down the street, Akshay could make out the hot reds and pinks lights that spelled out “Museful Inspirations” and the posters on the walls that displayed featured girls. This place was always just the best.

>> "Are you always that slow? It's not easier, believe me, I do it half the time. Pft. Being half girl still makes ya guilty for everything."
Akshay would have hit him for calling him slow. But considering the mess that they had caused while they were sober, there was no way he wanted to risk more property damage to his store. That was the thing that no one told you about superhero fights; someone had to pay for the collateral damage. And Akshay MOST definitely didn’t have the extra funds to take care of that.
So, he let it slide. This. One. Tim—HICK!
God. This was strong whiskey.
He sighed though, mulling over Gawain’s words. The kid probably had a point. It seemed that no matter what gender you were, there was always some kind of trial to have to go through. The human condition was made of suffering, wasn’t it? With only glimpses of happiness? He would have to drink to that.
>> "I was thinking... other women. Not us. Like...Ever been to a strip club?"
Akshay rolled his eyes.
“I am almost—“ he counted on his fingers and held up three of them, “Six years older than you! AND of legal drinking age. Of course I’ve been to a strip club,” he sighed as he thought back to some of his favorites. “Ever been to Museful Inspirations down on 66th? Definitely one of the best I know of.”

>> “Cheers.”
Akshay smirked, clinked glasses, and downed his drink.
And then another. And another. And another. And…huh…how many was that now? Akshay was fairly certain that he lost count because his head was filled with a multitude of very deep and important thoughts that took precedence over everything else. Yeah, that was obviously the reason. Not the fact that he was three sheets to the wind and with sweat smelling of whiskey.
But hey! At least it was good whiskey.
Anyways, at some point the clock moved on and he refocused his attention onto Mirror who was now looking at him intently. He was about to mention that as flattered as he was, he was not about to betray Emerald like that (to which he then remembered that he wasn’t with her anymore and was about to throw caution to the wind!) but Gawain spoke first.
>> "Sooo...Here is a suggestion:...... women."
“Hey…maybe you got something there,” he grinned a little drunkenly. “Becoming women would make our lives easier! But, psh!” he waved his hand dismissingly to the X-Man. “I don’t have that power. Only you do. Silly.”

Akshay winced. Apparently Gawain didn’t like to be called a “kid”. In truth he was still a teenager but he could understand that he didn’t want to be referred to as a youngin anymore. Even if Akshay was a good 6 or 7 years his senior, it could be taken as an insult. Well, since they had just finished fighting, it was obvious he didn’t want to incur the ki—Gawain’s—wrath any further. So, as an apology, he poured him another shot of the whiskey.
“My apologies,” he simply said and dropped it.
Sighing, he craned his neck back to stretch the muscles a tiny bit. He was so going to be sore in the morning.
>> "Yeah, she'll survive…I mean, it sucks, but it's probably better off, 'sides who am I to talk...."
Akshay smirked. He had to admit that even though that started off extremely rocky, Gawain was really beginning to grow on him. Great, he gets along with the guy AFTER he breaks up with his sister. That is just peachy. But still, some friendship is better than none, right?
Pouring himself another shot, he raised the glass to Gawain.
“To…um…a couple of fools? Fools meaning us, obviously,” he beamed. Which…must have looked rather disgusting with the split lip and bruising jaw.

>> "Awesome…Ya imagine they ever got dumped and beat the crap outta each other?"
Akshay smirked as he unpacked the glasses and waited for Gawain to finish pouring the drinks for the both of them.
“Actually…! Um…” he sighed and just buried the nerd in him as quickly as possible. He shook his head and just smirked as the alcohol was done being poured. “Forget it. Another time.”
He laughed, winced at the very motion of laughing, and just picked up the shotglass of whiskey that was offered to him. He would have downed it right then and there but Gawain saw fit to offer a salute. What else could be do but comply? A smile on his face, he raised his glass with Gawain’s.
>> "To... um... aw, screw it."
“Best toast I’ve heard so far!” he grinned as he knocked his head back and downed the drink.
God. It. Burned!
Akshay winced as he felt the fire pour down his gullet and course into his stomach. It really was like drinking lava. But, at the same time, he just didn’t care. Feeling that liquid slosh into his empty stomach, probably burning away the lining and setting him up for ulcers in his old age, he couldn’t find the will to be concerned about it; mainly because it didn’t take long for it to start numbing the pain that was all over his body. God did he hurt.
>> "Whooooah dammit. Good stuff."
A groan fell from his lip as he leaned against the counter, staring at the empty glass he held between his fingers. He nodded with a smirk.
“I concur. You definitely know your stuff, kid,” Akshay smiled. He sighed though, looking over the store and thinking that less than 20 minutes ago they were trying to kill each other. A glance back to Gawain and he sighed. “Um, again, I’m sorry. You know, about Emerald,” he said as sincerely as possible. Because, in all honesty, he meant it. He was sorry.

Hmmm, well, to be honest I wouldn't mind Akshay riding in on his silver ducati and saving to pair of peoples! He could be heading out when the riots are happening and attempt to ride to the rescue. He has been to the mansion so he would know that is a safe place to be.
Plus he met Sarah before and would be more inclined to help!

>> "Yeah, I do…An' trust me ya're better off not knowing. Just stay here I'll be right back…They'd not let us in anywhere like this anyway..."
Akshay cocked an eyebrow as he watched Gawain disappear. At first he didn’t think that they looked that bad. But when Mirror disappeared, Akshay turned and looked at himself in the display glass. Wow…his lip looked twice it’s normal size, the side of his face was black and blue, and he was sure those dots of red all over his shirt were not there before. Damn, they really had put each other through the wringer, hadn’t they?
Akshay spent the next 10 minutes mulling about, trying to clean up the mess that both he and Gawain had caused in his shop. While it seemed like JUST maybe Gawain should be helping out, Akshay figured it was the best way to keep things off his mind. Before he knew it, he had most of the store cleaned up, comics were back in place, and he was nearly done sweeping up bits of plastic and glass.
Sigh. The traumas that come with being a store owner.
>> "Got glasses or are we goin' full out hobo?"
He blinked and turned back around. Gawain had returned…this time carrying a damn nice bottle of whiskey! Whoever this kid knew, however he got the bottle, Akshay just didn’t care right now. He just needed a good drink and that whiskey looked like ambrosia!
“Ugh, yeah, I got something,” he said after a moment. Walking down his shelves, Akshay reached upward and plucked down a box that was high up. It was small, probably no bigger than half a bread loaf. Setting the box down on his counter, he showed that it was a gift set of superhero-themed shot glasses. He beamed at Gawain. “The Golden Age heroes too!”
He smirked as he passed half of them out of Gawain and kept the other half himself. These would very much come in handy.

>> "Hit me…Then let's go find a place that has decent booze."
Akshay smirked as he twisted open the container (painfully so) and shook the few pills inside. He usually kept these for promotional days because they were always good to have around when dealing with customers. They were loud, obnoxious, and tended to smell really bad. So bad, in fact, that they could easily give a person a migraine. But right now Akshay thanked his lucky stars for them because, if not, he wouldn’t have asprine readily available.
Tilting the bottle, he dropped a couple into Mirror’s hand, and grabbed a couple of his own. He popped them into his mouth and didn’t even bother to attempt to swallow them whole. Chewing them would help the medicine to hit his bloodstream faster.
As for now, though, they needed alcohol.
Akshay smirked as he offered his uninjured hand to Gawain to help him up.
“Come on, You lead the way,” Akshay said as he waited for Gawain to take his hand so he could help him up. Only after Gawain was standing did he continue. “I have a feeling you’re someone that knows where to get the good stuff.”

>> "Preachin' to the choir"
Akshay smirked. But only slightly. Hearing about heartache was never a fun thing to do, but it certainly seemed as if Gawain had his own, fair share of it. The X-man had said he had just broken up with his own girl after the wake up from the dream. Akshay guessed that he was not too far along behind him. It was just unfortunate that those events could have had any repercussions on what happened in their waking lives.
And definitely not fair.
For a moment the two of them just remained there. Two broken hearted guys, trying to make sense in a crazy world filled with dames, comics, and pain. Maybe they really were not all that bad a people after all. Hell, maybe even the two of them could be friends.
>> "Ya're a good guy Akshay…I think we need drinks."
Akshay smirked. Drinks most definitely sounded good right now. With how sore his jaw was, he definitely was going to need some kind of liquor or he wasn’t going to be able to sleep at all that night. But, glancing at Gawain, he had to wonder if he was even old enough o drink? Bah, not like he was going to tell anymore.
“So long as they’re on you, Suckerpunch,” He smirked. That was a nice nickname for the kid. “But first,” he groaned and forced himself to stand up. With a wince he staggered over to his counter, reached behind and pulled out the first aid kit. After fishing around inside the metal canister, he finally found what he was looking for. He held up the bottle of asprin and smirked at Gawain. “Can I buy you a double?”

>> "No sh*t, bad…Two bullets in the back and I was out. From what I hear, I can count myself lucky."
Akshay winced. He could guess what it was like to dream something like that. To hear those to gunshots go off, then, a split second later, to feel the rounds pierce your skin. It must have been horrible to dream something like that. Then again, being stabbed in the gut really wasn’t all that wonderful a feeling either! At least, that is what he guessed happened. He remembered the fighting, then he remembered someone getting past him, followed by a piercing pain in his side.
Damn, even just thinking about it hurt. And that was only a dream! Then again, he had a some recent incidents with blades and knives lately.
…
…He shuddered at the thought.
His attention turning back to Gawain, instead of on the pain radiated throughout his sore body, he watched the young man continue.
>> "Broke up with my girlfriend after the wakeup call…I guess that's just goin' around these days isn't it."
Akshay hung his head sadly. He knew that eventually the conversation would return to what started this whole thing off. Forget name calling and costume mocking, there was something real and substantial about this encounter that Akshay had been hoping to avoid. Heh, fat chance. Gawain was still her brother after all. Of course he would want answers.
Akshay sighed.
“Listen, Gawain,” he said as he pushed himself up so he wasn’t slouching so much. “It…it didn’t happen like that. Okay? We just…we weren’t right for each other,” he muttered. “We drifted apart. She deserves someone who can stand by her, no matter what. Even when she is out, trying to save people’s lives and not freaking out at home that she may never come back.” He knocked his head back against the rack with a groan. “I loved your sister, Gawain. But…I wasn’t in love with her. She deserves someone who can give her that. And that’s obviously not me.”

>> "Whoa, ya'e out of the loop aren't ya"
That was entirely possible. After all the crap that had been following him lately, Akshay really had not been trying to keep up to date with most things happening in the world.
>> "I was in the same dream. So was pretty much everyone else I can think of, and half the freaking city... It was a glimpse at a possible future or some sh*t. Royally messed up the present if ya ask me."
Akshay paused as he just listened to Gawain speak. It was a giant shared dream? As in EVERYBODY had the same experience, or something close to it? The idea of it was just terrifying. But now that he thought of it, he thought he did hear rumblings here and there about people panicking, praying for the future. He always figured it was just nothing more than the standard freakiness that seemed to always happen around New York, so he scarcely paid attention to it.
Even he barely remembered the dream until right now. He sighed and shook his head as he thought back, remembering the his last fight for the mansion. To think that he was actually a part of something like that. Even if it was only in a dream, still, he never would have thought he had it in him.
He raised his gaze to Gawain, though, seeing the expression on his face as he thought about the dream too. With a wince Akshay held his side. God that rib was now sore.
“You sound like it was pretty bad for you,” he muttered. “I remember now. I…I saw you go down, didn’t I?”

Akshay was ready for it. He was tired, he was exhausted, and most of all he was in pain. Not just physical pain from the beat down, but a little bit of emotional pain from having to think about everything that happened to him lately. Being reminded of his break up with Emerald just opened up those doors all over again. And it was something he definitely didn’t want to have to think about right now. He was moved on, sure, he was not going to go break down Emerald’s door and beg to be taken back. But he didn’t want to think about that time of his life either.
So, he waited for it. Eyes closed, teeth grinding, he waited for her brother to just pummel the hell out of him. Hopefully whenever he was done, he could then just leave Akshay in peace and he could bury that part of his past. He was done trying to be something he wasn’t.
But that never happened. Instead, he felt Gawain sliding off. Akshay cautioned to open his eyes, sat up (painfully) and watched Gawain leaning back against his counter.
>> "I'm not gonna kick your ass…And ya're not a loser. I've seen ya in the dream, fighting for the school...”
Akshay perked up. Sure most of that was probably just Gawain trying to make Akshay feel better, but something about that last part struck his interest. Seen him fight? In a dream? At first Akshay didn’t know what to make of it, but, as he thought, he suddenly remembered. THE dream. The one from a few months ago. That weird one where he was fighting for the Mansion that he’d met Gawain in. All those psychopaths were breaking in and Akshay had actually done a pretty good job of defending them until he too was killed.
But…he could have sworn that all of that was only a dream. How did Gawain know about that dream?
>> "F*** messed up..."
Akshay, pulling himself backward, leaned against one of his comic racks so that he could at least be sitting up. He had to admit that Gawain summed up the notion perfectly. Quietly he shook his head.

>> "Really?! Is that what ya're upset about?!"
Akshay rolled his eyes as he continued his struggles against Gawain. Sadly the girl/boy was just far too trained to subdue. As much as there was the blood and vinegar in Akshay to fight back, he was just outmatched! He could flailed and struggle as much as he wanted but if Gawain didn’t want to give in, Akshay didn’t think he was going to get anywhere right now. Still, he could just lie down and accept this, could he?
>> "I am an archer ya moron!"
He grumbled.
“And I’m not! Okay! At most I’m a f***ing nerd that can make costume!!” he sighed and he finally stopped struggling and just looked up at the teen. “I’m not a hero, I’m not a badass, I’m the guy that always gets picked on. The only thing I CAN do is make draw and make costumes. Don’t you f***ing dare take that away from me, goddamn it.”
His will to keep the fight going was slowly waning. Just dropping his head back, Akshay groaned and closed his eyes. The pain from his various wounds was finally beginning to get to him as his adrenaline began to wash away. No wonder he was always picked on and targeted by psychopaths and morons. No wonder.
“Listen, if you’re going to kick my ass, then just be done with it already, alright?” Akshay mumbled. “Just hurry up so I can go home.”

>> "Oh sh*t."
Oh sh*t indeed!!
Gawain made the one fatal mistake that no person should ever make to a nerd on the brink…he made fun of said nerd’s swag. There was absolutely no way that Akshay was just going to let the man walk away with that one. He didn’t care if Gawain was here for retribution for his sister and was here to gun him down in cold blood! Akshay was going to have revenge. REVENGE!!
Surprisingly, Akshay actually caught the guy distracted. His arms looping around his midsection, Akshay brought the teen down and their fight began! And such a epic battle of the titans was it!!
Punches! Kicks! Bites! It was just all happening at the same time to the point that Akshay truly felt like a man possessed. After the hellish time he had been having lately, and really with no other way to cut loose, Akshay was all in this fight. The kid was strong, fast, but Akshay was just crazy. He was sure that at least a couple of times he had sunk his teeth into the kid’s arm, attempted to shove a plastic arrow where the sun don’t shine, bashed Gawain over the head with a “MOTHER******” word he created, and screamed out to Valhalla, Crom, and Stan Lee to help grant him the strength to take down his foe! He would pour Gawain’s blood on a shrine for their favor!
But such was his exhausting moves that he eventually was outmatched by Gawain’s training as an X-Man. It was obvious, though, that as good as Gawain was harmed, Akshay was just a little worse. He was sure at least one of his ribs were bruised, his fillings were coming out of one tooth, and bottom lip was split to the point that it dribbled down blood. Even his jaw was already nearly two sizes and perfect shades of black and blue due to the sucker punch earlier.
That’s right…SUCKER…PUNCH…
Damn cheater!
Eventually Akshay found himself pinned down and flailing against his opponent.
>> "Goddammit dude chill the f*** out!
“Take it back!” he growled. “Take back what you said about the costume or I’ll bite your face off!!”

>> "Explain what?! What's there to explain, huh?..."
Akshay sighed. He really didn’t need this right now. Not after all the times that he had had these past few weeks. All he was looking forward to doing was crawling back into bed at the end of his shift and lying in the dark, petrified, until the morning arose. But nooooo, the vengeful brother had to come charging into his shop TONIGHT of all nights to try and push him around. Akshay was so close the snapping already.
Keeping the word up for protection, he tried to think of something, anything that would get Gawain to calm down. While Akshay was by no means a horrible fighter, he doubted he could stand up to someone of Gawain’s caliber.
There was a way they could just sit and talk like rational adults, right? There was always a way.
>> "That is a f*** ridiculous costume for an archer, by the way."
…
…
…Snap…
“Oh…” he said with a twitch of his eye. “IT’S SO F***ING ON!!!!!!”
Akshay said as he hurled the word “GOD” at Gawain and suddenly charged him. No one…made fun of his well-made costumes! NO ONE!!!!!!!!!
