The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It was something that most people experienced, seeing things that made little to no sense at the time or were just so baffling that one could not comprehend what they were seeing. Some people were good at that, such as magicians or those who'd had a few too many in their system, encouraged by the loosened inhibitions and equally drunk friends. They would just baffle people with their skills or their willingness to do something utterly unbelievable.
It was the things or people you didn't expect in odd situations that always struck a better chord.
Which was what Kyle was looking at right now in the form of one women known as Evelyn. In the Sanctuary. Walking around like she belonged in the place. Now, a mutant in a place intended for them? Not so odd. Someone who'd recently joined the X-Men and when the place had been suggested before had almost but hissed her hate and/or disapproval of the place in that same place? Now that was odd. In fact, Kyle had to do a double take when he'd seen her to be sure he wasn't confusing her for someone else. Nope; it was most certainly her. From the look of it, she seemed to have finished whatever she was here for and was making for the exit.
Realizing he'd not had a proper chance to thank her for saving him earlier, a small little voice in Kyle's head thought of something. It was a terrible thought to be sure but at the same time, after recent events, it was far from the worse possible idea. Would she go for it? Probably not; her companion at the mansion didn't think too highly of him. But he/she wasn't here now...and it would give him a chance to do something he had been meaning to do for a while.
See what Evelyn could really do.
With that calmly put aside in favor of thanking her for her help, Kyle made his way over to her. He had to jog a bit to catch her in time, coming up to her only a few feet from the door. "You come to visit and don't even say hi? I think I might be slightly wounded at that Evelyn." Her echoes had probably heard him coming, but that didn't keep him from trying to surprise her.
"Can't say I'm not shocked to see you here; what brings you down here? Last I recall, you didn't say very nice things about this place."
Kyle watched silently as Evelyn eyed the man, her expression as cold as ice, that barely contained rage boiling just on the other side. He could tell she was furious with the man; it didn't take a genius to know that the damage he had caused to her art had both hurt and angered her. Hence that cold look she sent the man's way, her mind likely steeling itself for the choice she was about to make. She clearly was thinking it over hard, as she rightly should.
Taking a life was not something one should come to easily. Kyle, in his own right, was different in that way. He'd kill those trying to hurt him or others without a thought or those he believed would harm others in the future if set free. But he never killed someone who was defenseless unless absolutely necessary. And even that was few and far between.
Finally, a choice finally won out in Evelyn's mind and Kyle calmly listened as she gave out her verdict. He watched her with a newfound interest as she gave the man his chance to live but just as quickly made it clear that his life would not last in the long run if he should are to harm this place again. Kyle stayed silent a moment longer, watching her from his position over the man before putting pressure on his chest with his foot as he leaned down to look at him hard.
"You're lucky. Lucky that she still has a heart after you tore hers apart with your "game". Had it been my choice...well, I'll let you think on that. And on this.
She has given you her warning. Here's mine; the call she will make will be to me if you should ever do this again. And if I have to see your face again...you will become a work of art yourself. As a bloody smear on the wall. Keep that in mind." With that, Kyle smashed the man across the chin, knocking his lights out for what would be a long while. Long enough for the police to arrive and to handle him. Not that he was much of a threat with the injuries Kyle had given him; those would just help make it easier.
Stalking away from the comatose man, Kyle put a hand on Evelyn's shoulder before turning her slightly to inspect the wound on her head. It was bleeding still, albeit much slower then before. Nothing too serious, but a heavy blow like that could likely bring about unforseen damage as well. Tilting her head slightly to take a final look, he stepped back, glancing to what remained of the mess around them.
"Seems I never have a normal night whenever you're around." Giving her a slight smile, he tilted his head a little, hearing something remarkably like sirens getting closer. "I'll have to find more excuses to visit you then; it keeps things from getting boring. On that note; make sure you get your head checked out properly and soon; I doubt you need me to tell you why.
Now, if my hearing isn't completely gone, I think I can hear the calvary on its way. Seeing as I'm surely not on their most loved list, I should probably get going...will you be alright until they arrive or should I stick around till the last minute, just in case?"
Kyle sighed inwardly as his energy blasts missed their targets, sailing past them to splash out against a car or sign harmlessly save for the little dents they had left. But then, Kyle had never expected them to hit; he would have used a much stronger burst if he had thought they would connect. The blasts had been as much a test as they were an attack; he was already hurt far worse then he should be. He had to bring the game down to a level where he could compete...or at least manage an effective escape.
The talker, the one that had almost broken his arm, had dodged his attack with ease. His partner, the brute, had a much harder time then him, all but scambling out of the way just in time. So...the talker was the biggest threat at the moment; the brute would be a threat if he got close, but Kyle knew he could at least likely manage to hit that one. The problem would be keeping the speedster in his...
A voice at his side made Kyle flinch in surprise, his eyes tracking to his left side, where the man had suddenly flashed towards him. Already a leg was swinging in towards him, moving straight for his unprotected ribs...
Kyle's right arm flashed out as Kyle spun, slamming his open palm into the spinning kick. At the point of contact, Kyle's hand flashed, a small burst of energy that kept the blow from breaking his hand off and smacking it past him as he stepped back, just barely managing to avoid the blow. His hand felt numb from deflecting the blow but it had given Kyle a pretty good idea about the man's speed...if he could keep it up, he'd soon have a fair enough idea of what he'd have to do to avoid him....
Pain lanced through him as the man buck kicked him in the chest, sending Kyle airbourne to bounce and roll over the hood of a nearby car. The man had followed up his move with an almost instant back kick; there had been less build up for it and yet Kyle found himself struggling for breath, winded from the hit. Struggling to his feet, Kyle brought his arm up and swung it hard from right to left, unleashing his energy as he did so, using a full laser of energy compared to the bolts. Then he put his back to a car, keeping the talker in sight.
"Okay...so you know a little about me. But killing in the name of mutant supremacy? Fool; I kill those who deserve death, whether they be mutant or human. But I'm not going to argue with someone who is likely doing the same thing he's judging me for.
Kyle had been a little mistaken in how long it would take him to catch the man. A few minutes had been his prediction.
It took only seconds in reality. The man was quick on his feet, there was no doubt of that. But all that running had taken its toll on him and Kyle could easily see that he was breathing heavily from all the effort. Kyle, on the other hand, was just beginning to breathe a bit heavier. Fringe benefits of his power and his physical ability so often came in handy for moments like this.
It did take him a few extra moments after the man managed to slap another painting on his way, the colors in the painting bursting to life in the form a very colorful swirl that seemed to take on the form of a dragon. Cute trick...one Kyle had no choice but to rip through with his hands as he had no time for anything else. Grabbing the swirl in his hands, Kyle pulled hard to either side, sending the colors spinning to the floor as they returned to the canvas they once had been. Evelyn wasn't going to like that, not one bit...but lives weren't as easily replaced as art could be. Sure, the artistic value would likely be lost. But in the end, a living breathing person had to come first.
Kyle would have torn this entire place to ribbons and ash if it meant that lives, his and Evelyn's especially, would continue. Hopefully Evelyn would understand that.
One life that didn't merit this grace was the man, who'd paused thinking he'd done something to deter his tracker. The sudden expression of fear on his face as Kyle tackled him into the open barely had time to form as the pair rolled into the chaos. Rolling off him to his feet, Kyle was on the man again just as he tried to point his arm towards a pair of battling soldiers to protect him.
CRACK!
The sound of the man's arm breaking managed to echo even above the chaos around him and the man's scream eclipsed even that sound. His concentration broken, the mutant backed away, cradling his arm, as the chaos around them suddenly froze. For a moment, all was quiet. Then everything changed into madness once again. Paintings suddenly launched themselves back the way they came, their once solid forms returning to the canvas from which they came. The soldiers returned to their displays, the standing knights and their horses galloping back to pose dramatically from wence they came. Only the destroyed works, the shattered armors, the scattered metal remained, unable to return to the form that they once held.
As quickly as it had begun, the chaos ended, the museum filled now with only the surprised cries of the remaining patrons and the ragged breath of the mutant as he cradled his shattered limb. Glancing towards Evelyn, Kyle stalked back towards the man, who shot him an angry look mixed with pain. Kyle didn't appreciate the gesture or words he stumbled out of his mouth as he approached...so he broke his other arm too. Then he kicked him hard in the knee, knocking the man to his back. As the man tried to rise, Kyle slammed his fist hard into his face, shattering his nose and spilting his lip. Stunned, the man fell to his back, now weeping openly in pain.
"Ple...plea...please....don't.....pleas...please don't...kill me!" he managed to weeze out as Kyle stood over him, a foot planted on his chest, a hand pointed open towards his head, energy all but waiting to spring upon his ruined form. Kyle's eyes were dark, cold, utterly without emotion. As was his voice as he spoke.
"As much as you deserve it, as much as I could easily dispense what you have brought upon others...its not my call to make." He glanced over to Evelyn, who was watching the whole thing from where he'd left her. "The only person who can judge your fate is the one whose joy you've so callously destroyed with your actions. So Evelyn...the decision is yours. Should he breathe...or should he join the works he's forever destroyed? I live his life in your hands."
For only the second time in his life, Kyle found himself making his way through the corridors of the most well respected mutant home on the planet. To be accurate, it was his third time officially but his last visit, coming here to speak to Evelyn(and training her a bit) hadn't been much of a journey through the mansion. It had been in, go a few feet, go outside, then leave just as easily. This journey was only his second time actually traveling through the hallways at length. He took advantage of the experience though; he had a feeling he might be here longer then intended.
The notion of food and different clothing was a welcome suggestion. Kyle had no fault with the basic clothes he was wearing, his own being torn and shredded from his battle and the subsequent need to remove it to work on his injuries. So long as he was wearing something that prevented some young mutants from seeing his birthday suit(and in his current situation, Isabel, who would likely have something painful to say about that), anything would do. Food, on the other hand, would be most welcome. It would give his body something to use to fuel its recharge and make sure he was at his peak again.
Kyle suspected, however, that the notion to seek food and clothing was as much that as it was a distraction to keep Isabel from going on a madhunt for the door. Staying here, at least for now, was in the best interest of them all. Kyle didn't expect Isabel to understand that as Zephyr did; she did as she wanted and to heck with what anyone else said. In ways, admirable. In this current situation, however...Kyle just hoped it wouldn't come to physical means to keep her from ripping her way out of here. Zephyr was the calmer mind here though and he seemed to know just what to do to keep Isabel under control.
For now anyway.
What happened next Kyle couldn't describe in words. Upon arriving in the kitchen, all attention shifted to what Zephyr did next. One moment, he was talking about food. The next he was tossing a cat that was upon the table into Isabel's arms. Isabel, expectantly, immediately tried to remove the animal from her, something that the cat itself was resisting it seemed. That's when things got...well, Kyle didn't even know to begin in terms of what this situation was.
One minute Isabel had been standing there, wrestling with the cat...the next she was gone, a pile of her clothes all that remained. No, correction; not all that remained. From within the pile something moved. And as Kyle watched, a small kitten managed to free itself from the pile, wiggling away from it before freezing solid briefly. Then it turned to Zeph and hissed, with all the terrible adorable fury that it could muster. Squatting down, Kyle raised an eyebrow at the now kitten Isabel before glancing back up at Zephyr.
"I believe I understand what just happened but...is this kitten who I think it is?"
If it was, that did solve one problem. At least she couldn't get into that much trouble in that little form. Hopefully. "Because if so...that's a neat trick. Remind me to stay away from that cat."
Kyle had always said to himself, and to those he truly trusted enough to share it with, that the true strength of his power lay not in his ability to fire it from his hands but at the hidden power it bequeathed to him. His ability to stay up longer and fight harder then anyone else without tiring, his muscles fueled by the very energy that he used to send people flying. The less he used it in combat, the longer he could fight.
Doc Prof had restored his body and his body had restored him; Kyle was awake, alert and most importantly, on edge. It had been a long time since anyone had brought him so close to death...and the thought terrified him. He didn't want to sleep, his body too tense for the act, for the fear that his dreams might be filled with that feeling of weakness all over again. So instead he sat there or lay there, eyes closed not in sleep but in contemplation. He wasn't gonna get any rest tonight.
Besides, despite the odd level of control over Isabel that Zephyr seemed to have, not paying proper guard to her seemed like an unwise idea.
It was several hours later when the sound of Isabel moving around broke Kyle from his quiet contemplation, glancing out of the corner of a peeked eye to watch as she gave Zeph a shot to stir the man. It was clear she wanted to be out of his place and Kyle couldn't blame her. There were a few here who'd lose their "stuff" if they found Kyle within the walls. But...
"An unwise course of action. The people who put us all here are still out there...and from the sound of it, they expect us to be dead. Right now, we have that advantage over them. Stalk out of here and you just make yourself a target again and this time, you might not wake up in a bed at all.
So perhaps curb your distaste for our surroundings for a moment and let's think about how we're going to avoid becoming dead the next time we encounter these "Zodiac" folks."
The sound of Zephyr's voice answering made Kyle turn to watch as the man he had only briefly met before entered the room, along with a much older man trailing in behind him. It didn't take Kyle long to recognize Doc Prof, as he was known. Kyle had been conscious during some of his healing sessions and the older gentleman had been the one administering the treatment. It was only through his skill that Kyle was breathing right now and, for that matter, almost one hundred percent again.
He was going to need to be if someone could take down Isabel to the extent she was in.
Giving Zeph a nod to acknowledge the man, Kyle remained silent while Zephyr spoke his piece. It was as much as Kyle had already pieced together for himself; all three of them had been attacked and if Kyle had to guess, beaten to almost an inch of their life. Which, considering the guys attacking him had been trying to kill him, was a stroke of luck in itself. It was time for show and tell, it seemed.
Isabel was first and Kyle listened intently to her tale. Any person, or persons, that could so heavily damage Isabel, who was a force of nature in her own right when she wanted to be, was a serious threat. If they were out there and they didn't limit their attacks to merely her, Kyle wanted to know as much as he could about them, so that if he ever encountered them he'd know what to expect.
Like his attackers, Isabel's had used a sign of the Zodiac to identify themselves. It begged the question, in his mind, that if they were all like that, did that mean there was twelve of them, one for each of the twelve symbols. Between him and Isabel, that was four accounted for...perhaps another two for Zephyr. Which left six that they might not have seen yet. A very dangerous thought. Kyle listened quietly to Isabel after that, his mind taking everything she said and storing it away for later. He felt there was more to it, but pushing Isabel in any form was a recipe for disaster. Considering where they were, it would be best for Zephyr to lead that form of inquiry.
Satisfied that Isabel was done, Kyle waited an extra moment to be sure they were waiting on him before taking his turn. "It's as you said Zephyr; like Isabel, I was jumped. Two men approached me in Times Square and attacked with no warning. One called himself Capricorn and the other I heard him call Taurus...fitting names considering their abilities.
They didn't have anything fancy, like Isabel's attackers, but against me, I don't think they needed it. Capricorn was fast...not super human fast, but fast enough to outclass your average person. And he kicked like a freight train; he all but broke my arm in a single kick. He seemed to be the brain of my duo; Taurus, on the other hand, didn't seem all that smart. A brute just like his sign...but he'd give even the Abyssi a run with his strength. He tossed a car at me like it was a piece of paper...and one hit from him was enough to put me an inch from death.
I think the worse part wasn't there powers though. It was how fluidly they worked together. And how they knew just about every trick I might throw their way; like they had been studying me. Folding his arms across his chest and resting against the bed he'd been lying in, Kyle glanced to Isabel before turning his attention back to Zeph.
"To state the obvious, beating me down is one thing...but anyone that can put Isabel into that state sends chills down my spine. So did any of these Zodiac named folks pay you a visit Zephyr?"
When Kyle awoke from the slumber his body had been forced into to recover, his first thought was that something was amiss. Once the world stopped spinning long enough for him to focus, that something made itself very clear very fast.
He was in a place he should not have been.
To be honest, Kyle wasn't sure how he'd got here in the first place. The last thing that he remembered, at least clearly, was battling the two mutants down in Times Square. Well...battling was putting it nicely. The thrashing that he was getting battling two mutants in Times Square would have been closer to the mark. For all his skills at close combat and with his abilities, against the might of the two he had encountered, against their superhuman strength, Kyle hadn't stood a chance. He hadn't even been able to retreat once he realized he was outmatched; the one was too damn fast for him to escape from.
He'd tried to give as good as he got at least. He was pretty sure he'd managed to at least give them a wound or two and make them realize he hadn't been an easy mark. Which he had. The last thing he'd remembered before the word went dark was Evelyn's voice and someone moving his body. That had been such lovely agony that Kyle had blacked out after that.
There were moments of haze, spurts of pain that were so mind numbing painful that Kyle only remembered them as the reason why he was constantly sleeping. It was like he was only dreaming and soon everything would return to normal. And while he slept, someone worked his body over carefully, mending the tattered skin, the shattered bones, the bleeding wounds. Slowly and carefully putting back together what would have otherwise been a shell with a brain.
It seemed he wasn't the only one who might have been that way.
Kyle had been awake when new occupants had joined him in the room. The healer, Doc, had for the most part finished putting Kyle back together. There were a few areas he still needed to attend to but the latest arrival put Kyle back a bit in terms of who needed the most aid first. That had not been a shock to him. What HAD been a shock was who had come wandering in; Isabel and Zephyr. While Zeph looked like he'd been through the ringer himself, Isabel looked like she was three inches shy of death. And anything that could put Isabel into that state put a chill down Kyle's spine.
It didn't take Isabel long to come to life on the bed, struggling, flailing, as if she was trying to flee on instinct alone and her body was too battered to listen. It was then that Kyle had chirped up, sliding off his own bed to limp (one of his legs still needed some work) over to her, raising a curious eyebrow. 'Well...this certainty is an interesting development.
Hmm...don't often see you worse off then I am. You might consider relaxing; this is probably the last place you want to start something in your condition. Which begs the question; what the hell happened to you?"
Kyle watched carefully as Evelyn struggled to her feet, his body ready to respond at at the wrong twitch from either the battling masterpieces or the shaky Evelyn. She was shaken, that was for sure, a fact Kyle could easily see from the look on her face. She looked like she was going to be sick. Considering she'd just had her bell rung and rung good by a metal shield, it wouldn't come as a shock if they discovered she had a concussion. Hence his attention to her; a concussion could feel like nothing but a bad headache before the person suddenly keeled over.
At least she retained a bit of her humor, which was a good sign. "Remind me to update your software later then; you probably need the upgrade." Satisfied that she would be able to at least continue standing for a while longer, Kyle turned his entire focus on the man behind the scenes. To the man's credit, he was still there, afraid and amused at the same time behind the the chaos in the room, his attention only half on the pair of them.
Kyle's eyes were already plotting their course when he replied to Evelyn, turning back for only a moment to grip her shoulder lightly. "Stay here and try not to move. This won't take long." His expression had locked then, right into the face that spoke volumes into Kyle's intentions. He was deadly serious now, his face a cold mask of little expression save for his eyes, which were staring daggers at the man.
And just like that, he was gone, putting all his fast traveling skills to work. He didn't give the battling figures more then a moment of his attention, diving, weaving, sending little blasts at them to knock them off his course as he flew across the room without a wasted stride. This was his element; dancing with death like it was an old friend, his motion always constant, never slowing for more than an instant to make slight changes in his course. He was on a mission and to hell with anything between him and it.
The man finally realized the threat coming his way and with a startled gasp, pointed in his direction before fleeing down the corridor. As if commanded, two of the battling statues headed Kyle's way...and then they were gone, one blasted apart by his energy blasts while the other was only acknowledged long enough for Kyle to dodge and bypass it, putting his feet to the dirt as he dashed after the man. Silently, he hoped Evelyn could hold on for just a few minutes.
A few minutes would be all he needed to teach the man a very grave lesson about what Kyle did to those who hurt he cared for.
First Thread: Roach/Lenna vs Taurus and Capricorn. Approved. Link me either here or via PM when you have the thread up.
Sylar; use the template I gave and I'll add you. Please. ^_^
Second Thread: Saph/Andy/Various vs Cancer/Libra. Approved. If you want to start and link it to me, that would probably be best and then I'll get to replying to it once you feel we've let in the right number of folks.
Third Thread: CS/Amelia vs Geminis. Approved. Again, once its up, let me know and I'll get to it as soon as possible.
Now, as for you request CS, it is approved. HOWEVER, it will have to take place in the third act as I'm guessing its the thread where you off Leo and I'm holding the offings off(hehe) till that act so that everyone gets a chance to rp with the Zodiacs before we start killing them off. Hope that's alright with you.
Third Act, First Thread: CS/Evelyn/Gawain vs Leo. Approved for Phase III.
Alright, here's the official Zodiac request thread for encounters with them. I'm going to try and limit them to interacting with two different threads per Zodiac(s) to keep the timeline from going all over the place.
The process, as said before, is simply to request which Zodiac you want, who will be in the thread, who will play the Zodiac(s)/if you need someone to/want me too. If you're making the thread, post the link up here so I can add it to the quick list for people to all enjoy.
Claiming the life of a Zodiac will follow the same process; if you want to be the one to end a certain one, post it up here. I'm probably gonna go first come, first serve here, but if there's a bunch of people who want a certain one, maybe something can be worked out. Anyway...rock and roll folks.
Zodiac Required: (Which Zodiac/Zodiacs you wish to thread with.) Characters in Thread: (Whose in it, IE, the active players) Whose playing the Zodiac: (Who you've asked ahead of time to play the Zodiac(s) Request for me to play the Zodiac?: (Yes or no here)
Edit: Dawned on me earlier but for people with multiple characters, please give someone new a chance to call claims on Zodiacs before taking one with your second...or third...you get the idea. Give everyone a chance right! ^_^
Edit 2.0: After listening to people talk, I'm going to OFFICIALLY make the killing of the Zodiacs take place in the third phase. It makes sense; the opening act, the middle ground that builds the tension and the finale that ends with a bang. I hope everyone understands and respects this choice. Keep at her guys!
Okay, sorry I've been slow in here lately. Got distracted OOC.
Anyway; I'm fine with you guys profiling the Zodiacs, once of course you have something to profile from, aka, witnesses or reports from those attacked. The General can be profiled too, but remember; he's only going to show up as a voice after the attacks are done, so you probably won't have much to work with on him. He's going to be the shadow leader until near the end; heck, he probably won't even announce himself as the General in his message.
Now, with the exception of my own ass kicking(yea, Ill try to speed that up), the other individual threads are finished. Oh, and the open thread; Ill probably have Libra retreat soon, once the cops show up to make things even more confusing. Ill admit, I had intended to use other Zodiacs in that thread, but again, I got sidetracked and the thing had a life of its own by then. So they'll show up in good time.
Now, I'm probably going to make a new OOC thread for signing up people to encounter the Zodiacs on their own. I will also start taking notice to who wishes to take down which Zodiac. NOTE! AT THIS POINT IN TIME, the Zodiacs I intend to keep alive at the end are Sagittarius and Aquarius. Cancer, Libra, Aries and Leo are the ones I have left open to death, while the others I am still contemplating.
Also as of this moment, and I apologize for this, but Cancer has been claimed by Isabel for his end, while I believe CS wanted Leo, though I will confirm this as soon as possible. Apologies to all if this derails anyone's plan, but if you've read the individual threads, I think they've earned them >_>.
Anyway, I'll make this all official today, if I don't get pinned down. Keep it going people! You're doing everything I expected with this plot!
