The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

If Gina had been drinking anything, it would've been a spit-take. She was still watching the creeper-lady from afar, rubbing the dog's tummy and then suddenly... there was a naked guy who looked very, very much like a gargoyle.
Gina got, to her feet, gawking at the scene. He looked like her! Except a dude! And naked! Butt naked. The gargoyle blushed at the sight, obviously concerned but also... very confused. Very, very confused. Their stuff would be okay for a few minutes if she... went and investigated right? The gargoyle descended down the grassy knoll, glancing at the stark-naked gargoyle-guy, then towards creeper lady.
"A-are you not usually... like this?" she asked the naked guy, doing her best to ignore his pantsless-ness, but the intense blush on her cheeks indicated that she was well aware of his state of undress.
Jay's remark earned a chuckle from the dapper young man, and a casual raise of his glass. Anyone who could roll with his antics was alright by Khalil's standards. Jay wished him well. It was nice to see that the criminal lifestyle had yet to sap his concern for other peoples’ wellbeing.
“I will… I appreciate it,” he replied, his tone dropping to a more serious timber. One of these days, the Syndicate would legitimately be the death if him.
“Too bad we don't have workers comp,” he remarked, “Though I suppose a healer is the next best thing.”

>> "I'm hoping to make something more dapper than that"
Gina nodded, “I'd love to see the finished project.”
Because she was nosey, and wanted to see what professional work looked like. She was just a novice, a student who was only just delving into the field.
>> "That sounds complicated. Do they work well while you move?"
Gina shrugged, “I have to wear a lot of low-cut jeans and mostly fitted shirts. Loose blouses tend to sit weird around my wings, or will ride up… if it was always summer I'd probably wear shirts with open backs all the time."

Dressing for the elements was a challenge for the young woman, but it was imperative given her susceptibility to the cold. She was wearing at least two layers of fleece-lined leggings, a knitted headband, a sweater, a scarf, a coat. Gina's bony, avian feet were still exposed, but beyond that she was pretty warm. From behind the darkened lenses of her sunglasses, Gina surveyed the bustling streets from street-level. Flying when visibility was this crappy, and when the air was so cold, was not enjoyable. Hence, walking. She was en route to Xavier's for her volunteer hours.
Most people have her a wide berth, despite the fact that she barely passed five feet. It came with the mutational territory. Gina just smiled, strode along, and minded her own business. That is, until someone mowed into her from behind. The gargoyle was sent stumbling forward.
“The f***?!” she murmured. Gina turned to face the person who’d slammed into her, a man who seemed preoccupied with the bags in his arms, “Where's the fire?”
“Thief! Stop him!!”
They were pointing at the guy who'd slammed into her. His grip tightened on the bags on his arm, and he broke back into a sprint.
Gina ran after him but her legs were short, she'd never be able to keep up or catch up with him. Before she knew what was happening, she spread her wings, frantically beating them to get off the ground. Flying was always faster. She was practically sprinting. In no time, she closed the distance between them. Gina swung close to the man who screamed in alarm or perhaps fear. Taloned hands clasped at the bags, but the man didn't release them. Gina banked higher. He was a small dude, quick too, so with minimal effort Gina began to climb.
“Let go of the bags,” Gina snapped, “Or I'll drop you.”
Apparently he was convinced, because he let go, stumbling to street-level. Gina fanned her wings, catching air. She jogged to a stop, turning to face the man. He backpedaled.
*Hissssssss,* the feral noise broke from her throat unbidden. The sound, or perhaps the gleaming canines, sent the man scrambling. Sometimes looking like a demon had its perks. Gina wrapped her arms around the bags and trotted back towards the crowd, pleased with herself. That could've been so much worse.
She was quiet as she returned, smiling at the bystanders. She wasn't sure who'd been mugged.

>> "Eh, just haven't found the right one, you know? We can't all be like you and find a sweet girlfriend. Yeah... Activities. You know, I'm your brother and it just seems... Weird."
Gina smiled, her tail curling. She hadn't really meant the remark to be weird… “activities” was just an all-encompassing term for whatever Joey did these days. She wasn't really sure. She also wasn't totally invested in her brother's dating life, either. Joey could live his own life. Do what he wanted. It was fine.
>> “But I know you're not a kid anymore. Tell me though, how's school? I do need to meet this Nessa individual by the way. I don't know if she's good enough for you yet."
“School's fine. Busy,” Gina murmured, “Just trying to push through until Spring Break. And you totally do need to meet Nessa. She's wonderful.”
The bartender turned their attention to her, their gaze half inquiring what she wanted, and half inquiring if she was old enough to be sitting at the bar.
“Hard Cider, please?” she asked. She was already pulling out her ID before they even asked.

Gina smiled politely at the remark. Even from another physical mutant, the remark settled with her weirdly. "Cool" mutations sensationalized the idea of having a mutation. One moment, Gina had been anxiously clasping the other girl's hand... and then she was clasping air. Gina gasped, and then squeaked in alarm when she realized where the other girl had gone.
Gina nodded and fell-in behind wolf-guy, who was the tallest of the three of them. But not before turning to the smaller girl, "If you want, you can grab a strand of my hair so we don't leave you in the dust... or sit on my shoulder or something."
It was too confined to fly inside, and the crowds were crushing in around them. The chaos was flowing into the halls. The wolf-guy was probably the best bet for breaking-up the crowd. Gina kept closed, her hands clasped to her chest.

Khalil smiled and nodded. Wild Dog. Sure, he could do that. Street names made things a lot more official-feeling. Khalil skimmed their surroundings with his amber eyes, scouring their surroundings for street signs. Ah-- here it was. Khalil fished his phone out of his pocket, unlocked it, and opened a messaging app.
*click*
He sent the picture to the street-sign to their contact, and waited, quietly exchanging a glance with his cohort. If everything was in the clear, they'd send their whereabouts to the two of them.
Khalil's breath came out in small puffs, waiting for his phone to buzz.
*buzz*
"Ah, there we go."
Directions from the street corner, to where they'd make the exchange. And a request for how many of them would be coming.
Khalil texted back that there was two of them, and repocketed their phone.

A rookie. Greeeeat. Khalil smiled, and gave an unconvincing "hm" with a smile. Poseidon had tasked him with an errand that was outside of his expertise, with a partner who hadn't really been formally assessed by the Syndicate yet. Just great. How wonderful. Fantastic.
Because this guy... whatever his name was... was new, Khalil felt comfortable giving him the rundown.
"I'll handle the talking," Khalil said quickly, "And when we're dealing with these *ssholes, call me 'Red'. And I'll call you-"
Khalil flapped his hand. He hadn't caught the guy's name.
"These guys are potential dealers, and Poseidon wants us to collect from 'm, okay?" Khalil explained, "They make good on their end of the deal, we have another source of income, everyone's happy."
His voice was soft. Even though the streets were empty, or seemed empty, he didn't want to take any chances.
The guy said something about being "lucky" for being recruited. At some point, Khalil had thought himself "lucky" too-- he had shelter, a creative outlet where he could let the flames run wild. But now? Now... f**k, he didn't know. But it sure a.f. didn't feel lucky. But dissent for a gang to which you belonged wasn't exactly smiled upon.
"Luck~y," Khalil echoed, smiling faintly. He didn't sound convinced.

Joey's surprise earned an impish smirk from the gargoyle, which instantly foiled her ruse of being some sort of polyamorous goddess. One could dream... but honestly, she was quite happy with just Nessa. She didn't need an entourage.
>> "Oh, um, nope. No girlfriends for me."
"Booo," the gargoyle voiced her disapproval. How had Joey managed that? With looks like his, he had to beating girls back with a stick. Or just... really, really picky. For someone who was already involved in a relationship with another girl, the obvious alternative surprisingly did not occur to her.
"That's okay, though. Being a free agent is sometimes good, too. You have so much more time for... activities!"
As if a twenty-one-year-old had the right to give sage advice to her big brother. Pah.
It was true, though. Relationships took work. Not being in a relationship meant... you had more time to do your own thing!

Gina watched the blonde go, a frown tugging at one corner of her mouth. Uuuggghhh, people sometimes. They thought mutation automatically meant "petting zoo" and thought they could touch whoever they wanted. The whole "looking for the water fountain" thing was a nice recovery though. The twitch that had crept into her tail refused to go away.
Gina clasped onto her tail, which flailed like a fish in her taloned grasp. If she didn't calm down, Nessa would know something was up. Aw, who was she kidding, she'd probably tell Nessa about it anyways, and Nessa would probably symphathize with her.
She watched the lady, still on-guard, hoping that she wouldn't give Nessa grief as she left the bathroom. Gina could handle people f***ing with her, but god help the soul who bothered her loved ones.
Amber eyes slid over the blond, pupils constricted into slits at the inquiry. He couldn't be too angry with Jay. It wasn't his fault that the mission was a bust. Still, that didn't stop Khalil from giving him a withering glance... it only lingered for a moment before the scarlet-skinned demon poked back at him.
"Oh look, it's my favorite piece of *ss," he crooned, wryly taking a sip of his drink. It was thanks to Khalil that Jay's *ss wasn't perforated in the first place, so Khalil felt was well within his rights to make that remark. He let the glass settle once again, appraising the blond, who seemed to be in good health.
"Shoulder's fine," he assured the blonde, lest there was any genuine note of concern behind his remark, "I haven't made it back to the healer yet, so... yeah." Khalil shrugged, which elicited a twinge, and another swig of his drink.
