The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kate follow with Gawain at her side and Andrew at his as the tour began again.
>>Free food all around, healthy an' everything. No booze, though. Most kids are too young to drink
"Booze?" Kate had never heard this word before. It must have been an American way of saying something, but Gawain didn't hear her and kept talking.
They moved quickly through the halls and Kate looked into every room and area she was informed of. After only minutes they were back upstairs at the offices.
Gawain ducked into one of the rooms and quickly returned.
>>So, the boss man's not here, if you ask me, he's probaby trainin' someone in the DR, we'll walk that way anyway and see if we can catch him. In the meantime" he smiled at Kate "Care to share a few things about yourself? What are you in for? Both of you, actually.
Kate looked at him confused. She had only understood about half of what he said, "What am I in for?"
"Well that's wonderful. We can start the process and then go find a greeter to finish it off." She would be settled in in to time at all at this rate.
Kate looked on in surprise as Gawain entered a mirror as if it was an everyday thing. She had been told this was a place full of mutants like her but she hadn't expected something like walking through mirrors. It was all so fascinating, like Alice going through the looking glass. She wondered what was on the other side and would ask the boy later.
>>Where to then?
Kate looked at the mirror waiting to find out what to do next as she sipped her water.
Kate shook Gawain's hand and smiled at him genuinely, "Feel free to call me Kate. Everyone does. Well almost everyone."
>>I was just gonna take her around a few more rooms and then see what I couldn't do about finding someone to get Kate signed in. You're welcome to join us if you've nothing better to do. I'm always willing to listen.
Success. She had finally gotten Andrew to warm up with a nice session of sharing. "Thank you." She smiled at him gratefully. She was going to need it once things started to go wrong. She needed to stay strong on this and not run back the first time her mother called, and maybe her new friend could help with that.
"Oh yes please join us. The more the merrier." She turned to Gawain, her happy smiled returned, "But first I need a bottle of water."
Kate repeated the same process she had to get her 'snack'. She put on her gloves, stood away from the fridge, and ran it under water before bounding back over to the two boys smiling.
Kate turned away from Andrew to see a new boy in the room. He said his name was Gawain. She was not sure where he had come from since she hadn't heard him approach but she hadn't been paying much attention.
After Andrew had politely introduced her to Gawain, who he apparently didn't know either, she offered the new arrival her hand, "Katherine Elizabeth Stanly Finch-Hatton. Very nice to meet you." Kate smiled now that she was distracted enough, "And, I suppose you're right. New ears, new things to let them hear. Really, it was also only a matter of time I talked about all of that. With it so prominent in my mind and all."
Kate had chucked quite a bit tonight but at that she full out laughed. Andrew was finally warming up it would seem and he got way more entertaining and fun when he was more comfortable. "I don't really snack... because of my mutation I have to eat a lot throughout the day. In weather like this I have to eat a full meal about every three hours. If it is colder I eat more, warmer I eat less. It's kind of like how temperature effects a fire. If it is colder you have to tend it more. So I'm tending my fire."
>>"Also, you mentioned spending your life around the same thirty or so people? What's with that?"
This just made Kate smile more, he didn't seem shy in that one at all. She was excited she may have actaully made her first friend ever. Well the first on her own age. She actually realized she had no idea what his age was. She would have to ask at some point.
"That is a complicated question I would be happy to answer. When I was 2 years old my father was killed, and because he was in the house of lords and the Earl of Nottingham, among other things, all the papers saw was that he was a mutant. According to Jensen, our butler, he was killed because he lost control of his mutation and scared a police officer. Let's just say, the papers ignored the truth and payed attention to the lesser of the two facts. It destroyed my mother," Kate's smile faded the more she talked, "She retracted us from the world and has kept us locked away in our country manor since then. Today was the first time I have been outside of the gates that I can remember. I know I had before but I was to young. I don't even remember my father. All I know is what my mother told me and what happened to her afterward." Kate looked out at the empty muffin rapper in front of her but was miles away from it, "I grew up with my mum, our staff, and my professors. That is the 30 or so people I grew up around." Kate finally looked at Andrew again, "I'm sorry. I went to far, you didn't need to know all of that. I just got started and the words poured out. I don't think I have ever actually told anyone that."
Kate smiled at him again but this time it wasn't like before. The light happy that was there was gone.
Kate listened as he told her his story. There were moments in it when she wanted to know more but felt best not to prod to much. She could always ask him more if they became friends. She filed away the held-up-a-coffee-shop for later. "Nothing comes to mind. What about you? Anything you want me to tell you? Any odd quirks," she made a point of looking at the food in front of her as the words left her mouth, "or behaviors or things I've said that have caught your intrigue?" She looked at him for a answer before continuing when she did not get one right away, "I am going to have to tell people about myself over and over, so why not start now?"
"I can honestly say I have never been there." Kate looked at him seriously for a moment before smiling "I have however ridden a horse and I didn't particularity enjoy it. There is a ridiculous amount of being shaken about involved. My mother felt I had to be a proper lady and learn how to ride, and I can honestly say I have never actaully used the skill and probably never will." Kate laughed and looked at Andrew contemplating her next question.
She finished the last of one of the muffins leaving 2 left. "Andrew why don't you tell me about yourself. Don't feel obligated to tell me anything you don't want to share, even if that's the whole thing. I understand if you don't want to talk about your life. This is just my first opportunity to find out about someone who grew up seemingly normal. I have spent my entire life around the same 30 people and you are the first person I have actually had a conversation with since I have been out and about. So, please excuse my curiosity," She then waited for a reply, while beginning on the second bottle of water and the 3rd muffin.
Kate had never met anyone shy before. She had seen them in movies but never met a shy person in... well... person. She had always interacted with people she had grown up around and they treated her a certain way. They either treated her like the noble they worked for, which she hated, or they treated her like Kate, the girl they watched grow up. Though, it dawned on her that interacting with people her own age was goign to be very different then interacting with people much older then her.
"I'm from just outside of Deene in the UK," She was determined to be very kind about everything she said and get Andrew to warm up to her. According to the movies, she had to gain his trust and become his friends in order for him to stop being so shy, "What about you? Where are you from?"
Kate organized all of her food very neatly and crossed her ankles of to one side of the feet of the chair. She began devouring the apple as she listened to Andrew.
"Oh I don't' mind you asking at all," She chuckled at his back stepping on the question. Where she had come from people were never so tentative as he seemed with personal information. She knew that they would respect if she didn't want to give it, a fact she had assumed was common even out in the world, but he was so different then her norm, "But first I want you to know you don't need to tip toe around me. I am not going to break if you ask the wrong question or say the wrong thing. You have nothing to be afraid of with me. I promise." She smiled at him reassuringly and thought of the right way to answer his question, "As for my mutation... I am a being of elemental fire I suppose."
Kate walked into the Kitchen and was not at all surprised by the size. It was smaller then the one back home but it was still very spacious and could support a good amount of people all at once.
She walked over to the fridge and put her purse on the island. She unzipped the mid sized leather handbag, the contents of which would confuse even the most well rounded of women, and pulled out a small pair of gloves. She nonchalantly slipped them on her hand as if it was a normal action before under the circumstances and turn to the fridge.
Making sure to stand about a foot and a half away, she opened the door slowly. She scanned down the shelves backing away as she had to bend over to see what was there. She saw a drawer full of fruit and stood. She began muttering to herself about what she had eaten that day counting on her fingers the different items.
once she had determined she had not eaten enough fruit today she opened the drawer at a distance and pulled out an apple placing it next to her purse before returning to the fridge to grab two bottles of water. She made sure to make a note in her head to ask whoever was handling her sleeping arrangements for a chest of some kind for her water. She also noted to go get a few cases of water the next day.
She bounded over to the sink with the apple and water bottles and removed her gloves as she turned on the hot water. She turned it all the way up and placed the three food objects under it, using a glove on the initial touch, long enough to warm them up.
Once she had determined they were at a warm enough temp, she grabbed about 4 muffins, 2 of each, and sat down with Andrew.
Kate went all wide eyed at the number of books. She had never seen so many. They had a library back home that she thought was a good size but it was nothing compared to this. She made a mental note to come back and spend a few days coming the shelves. She may actaully be able to find a book she hadn't read
She started walking down the walk way running her hands along the books. There was nothing like the feeling of a physical book. The smell as it opens after sitting alone for years, the spine creaking and the worn pages crinkling as they are idolly turned. There was nothing like it.
She smiled slightly taking it all in, closing her eyes and breathing the smell of the room.
Her amazement was sadly cut short by the growling of her stomach. She looked down at one of the banes of her existence and thought about it, she really hadn't eaten in about... a little over two hours. This was not good. She needed to get fuel and needed it soon. The temperature outside was to low for her to go to long without eating. "So, I'm assuming this place has food somewhere."
Kate followed Andrew almost blindly around as he popped his head into a series of rooms.
>> Guys to the left, girls to the right, and the middle hallway is for the adults. If you've got any questions feel free to ask. Or just talk. Either one is fine by me.
Kate just looked at him for a moment and then just burst out laughing.
"I'm sorry, it's just that you're so terrible awkwardly formal, and then you inserted that oh so subtle 'if you ever need to talk' and I just couldn't hold it in anymore. You've never done this before have you?"
