The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Maya listed off all the reasons why she'd hate him tomorrow. Huh, put that way it sounded perfectly reasonable!
"If you hate me tomorrow does that mean we can do this again tomorrow?"
After all, what better way to relieve frustration against someone than by punching them silly? She dragged him to his room, something that he wouldn't have suspected her to be capable of if he didn't know how hard Maya could hit, and dropped him on his bed. Now that she mentioned it he was pretty sleepy. Drew yawned and blinked at her.
"Mmm fine. Night night."
With that Drew yawned again and nodded off to sleep fairly quickly. Maya could see herself out. He had some beers to sleep off.

He nodded in response to her agreement. Drew hated to think how bad off he'd be without DocProf. Not that he'd voluntarily gone to see the man in a while. Most of Maya's next couple of statements were lost in the blur of her tugging him toward the bathroom. This was something he needed to work on. Better alcohol tolerance would be a good thing.
"Big boy?" he asked with a stupid grin.
When he realized that Maya had mentioned the bartender he turned to see the man glaring at them. Drew decided it was an incredibly bright idea to wave at him with the arm Maya wasn't holding and then stick his tongue out at him. Oh yes, he'd be getting excellent service if he came back here. After what seemed like a longer trip through the mirrors this time they ended up in the mansion in the boy's dorm hallway.
Her comment puzzled him and that showed.
"Why?"
Drew couldn't think of a darn reason why she'd hate him tomorrow. After all, he was the one who'd paid for the whole thing.

Gina's caution while approaching the bucket was good. If he were not being honorable at the moment it would have been a good point to attack. His honorable gesture apparently garnered one from her in response when she tipped the bucket over and let the water at the bottom drain out. She could have used it to counter attack if she'd felt like it. However she did not it seemed. No, her tail simply flicked back and forth like a cat getting ready to pounce and she agreed to the duel. Drew grinned at her and began circling slowly.
It was a shame they didn't have some western music and a few tumbleweeds.
Drew eyed his opponent warily as he circled. At this distance Gina could probably hit him easily. Dodging from a distance was easy. This close would be much more difficult. He'd wait until she spent at least one of her balloons before he made a move. Waiting worked well for him. It had done a good enough job in keeping him intact back when he sparred with Sam. Though he still suspected that was largely due to Sam holding back on him.

Drew raised his glass to the toast.
"To DocProf. I'd probably be dead a few times over with him. Or at least fairly maimed."
Maya then told him point blank he was drunk and Drew had to agree. He didn't feel at all like his usual self so reason said, since he was drinking alcohol, that he was probably drunk. Or he'd made another strange promise but who knew.
"Ok."
He grinned at her and drained the glass. Somehow he managed to get off of the barstool without falling down and waved down the barkeep to pay the tab. After all, he did say he'd pay didn't he? Oh well. Even if he hadn't he would pay anyway.

He scored a hit and made Gina back off. Drew grinned and lobbed one of his balloons, instantly replacing it with another.
"So, it is down to you and it is down to me."
Why he'd just quoted Princess Bride at her Drew wasn't quite sure but whatever. Gina could be Westley. That is if Westley had been a young female gargoyle. Hmmm, maybe he'd picked the wrong thing to reference. Oh well. Drew could do Vizini. He watched Gina circle and tossed another balloon. Once again he quickly replenished his ammo, leaving the score at two balloons in his hands and two in the bucket. He decided to give Gina a fair chance. He scooted the bucket across the grass with a kick so that she could grab the last two balloons.
That wasn't something Vizini would do though. Princess Bride western maybe? Or he could switch characters and be Inigo. That would work. Not much to say here though to reference Inigo so Drew just grinned.

The reprimand was not unexpected. However what gave him pause was not being reprimanded but what was said. Martin meant for him to kill?! Drew tuned out the rest of what was said. He'd killed someone once and had sworn to himself that he would never do so again. Life was too important to take away without a care. The mere mention of being given that order gave him enough clarity of thought that for an altogether too brief moment he felt he could resist any order Martin might give him. It didn't last though and he was plunged back into a haze of forced loyalty. He was being asked if he understood what Martin demanded of him. Utter loyalty without hesitation. Drew understood.
"Yes, sir."
Once again he was told he needed more muscle.
"Yes, sir."
Then he was given instructions on how to behave based on the tone of voice.
"Yes, sir."
It was so much easier to comply and take refuge in the warmth the promises offered. If he gave in then there would be no more struggle. There would be no more fear. It was already difficult to resist and it would only get harder. Was there anyone worth resisting this monster man for? The names came slowly, as though he was no longer sure they were worth it. Sam, Kealey, maybe Tasean. They were what he was trying to retain by resisting. More orders.
"Yes, sir."
The voice roared. Drew snapped into action, digging through the cartons for something, anything that might keep him from suffering the wrath that voice promised for failure.

They could have been anywhere. Andrew was not paying attention to his surrounding and the no doubt grim work that once took place in this room. They were things he noticed and his mind dismissed as irrelevant as swiftly as they were noticed. His thought and his focus were all bent on attempting to locate Martin amongst the shadows. To find the source of the voice and to put it together with that now familiar face. He hoped for approval just as much as he hoped to be rid of this monster man that had claimed him. It was horrifying to live the nightmare he'd had since his mutation had manifested itself and find it day by day steadily growing to be a more agreeable state. Mutation enforced Stockholm Syndrome at it's finest.
The voice sounded with an order and Andrew's head whipped to the direction it had come from. It was once again the cold demanding tone of a career soldier. This voice cared nothing for him. Andrew found he preferred this voice to the sweet lying tones. He watched the monster man appear from the shadows as though he were removing a well worn coat or perhaps extracting himself from the arms of a lover. The abundance of black in the clothing he wore seemed to make the shadows cling to him in a way that made the second notion more plausible. He was pale, dark, and holding a similarly dark camera.
The orders sank in when he was shouted at again. The monster man would not take no for an answer. The tone meant there was little time for indulging in hesitance. Drew quick discarded his clothes, item by item until he remained only in boxers. It was there he hesitated. Modesty was certainly a part in it but he simply didn't want to expose himself so fully to Martin. Master, monster, man. Whatever he was, Andrew did not wish to be that vulnerable before him. Yet the promises warred with him to see to it that he completed his ordered task. This man was his master. He loved this man. Certainly he could complete this order for one he loved?

She had a point about the tattoo and he knew it.
"You know I wouldn't run off until you fixed it."
Allison dragged him over to the booth he'd been eying. He doubted it was because she had any real interest in it. So it was probably a conciliatory gesture on her part. While he still wasn't happy that she'd outright dragged him here under the idea that he didn't have enough fun he figured there was no point in staying angry at Allison. It was done with a good, if entirely misguided, purpose in mind. No point in harshing the happy mood he'd been in most days for that.
Of course the person at the booth, one Garrett Wills, apparently decided that because of his ill mood or the fact that he had absolutely nothing to outwardly display him as mutant there was no point talking to him. He instead addressed Allison. Drew decided not to let it bother him too much since he was trying to get back to that happy mood he'd had before being kidnapped. The final bit of the greeting was addressed to both of them though. Drew gave Garrett a small smile.
"Yes."
The simplest answer was best. Drew had learned to be proud of what he was but you could never be too careful in a crowd.

He laughed.
"Well then why should I stop moving if you're just going to hit me? Aim better!"
His gambit worked when moments later she threw all three of her balloons at him in intervals and charged. Drew grinned widely and ignored the balloons. They hit him while he grabbed a handful of balloons from the tub and began a barrage against the oncoming gargoyle girl. She'd done exactly what he'd been hoping for and now he was emptying the tub as quickly as he could against her. Four balloons had already been thrown and he was reaching for numbers five and six. That would leave on three left in the bin.
"Bad move captain!"
Drew grinned widely as he seized two more balloons from the bin and started lining up his shot.

He grinned wide when Maya mentioned DocProf.
"Oh he's not happy to see me either. I make him work all the time. I think he's tired of seeing me walk in with some new damage." Drew thought back to the last time he'd seen the mansion's healer, "Stupid doctors and their lectures."
What did he know about whether or not he ought to tell someone about that night!
Now he had this huge frowny face on and that was no fun. Drew looked at Maya. Why did she have to like girls? It was enough to make him pout. Drew drank some more of his beer. Hang on...Maya was also Gawain. Did that make her a him? Drew blinked. Nah, the simpler solution was best. Maya was a she and Gawain was a he. Yup, that worked.

He succeeded in getting Gina to toss two more balloons his way. One was fast and the other seemed more an afterthought. Drew ducked to try and avoid the fast balloon but it was not to be. It brushed the top of his head and in the peculiar way that balloons have this was enough to break it. He wiped the water out of his eyes in time to avoid the second shot though. That meant she was down to just three more shots at him before she had to reload. Drew grabbed one of the balloons and gave it a toss. He wasn't really trying to hit Gina, more like keep the fact that he was biding his time hidden until she came in to reload.
"Nice shot but you missed again captain!"
All he had to do was keep her busy and not toss too many balloons. There were about ten left in the bucket after he'd thrown on at her. Drew grabbed another and tossed it, aiming a bit more this time. Maybe he'd hit her, maybe not. These shots didn't really matter. He smirked confidently over at Gina.

Gina scavenged some of the balloons but Drew still had a fair amount so he stayed right where he was. At least, until the balloon came flying. That made him dodge to one side as it impacted on the ground.
"Your aim is a little off captain!"
Drew smirked as he waited for Gina's next attack. She'd only taken about six balloons so after that she'd have to come back in for another load of ammo and then he could counter-attack.
"Running already captain? Really?"
He'd just stand here and taunt her until she used up her ammo. If he got a little wet in the process so be it.
"I guess I can understand wanting to run. I am intimidating."
Heh, intimidating. Yeah right. But if it riled up Gina then it served its purpose.

Lydia seemed confused that a guy would bake. Drew simply smiled and nodded.
"Yeah, my mom taught me when I was little. She likes to bake and I guess she wanted to pass that on. It's stuck with me ever since."
Depression seemed to settle about Lydia for a moment or two but she pulled herself out of it with a story about cooking with her friends. Drew chuckled at it, just imagining what they must have come up with. Unfortunately the sad returned when she mentioned that it had been a while since she'd done that either.
"Well consider yourself invited back to the mansion. I'll bake anything you like. Well...within reason anyway. I'm not doing any spur of the moment wedding cakes or anything. N-not that we'd need one!"
He'd really managed to put his foot in his mouth there. Drew coughed and turned to stare at the scenery around them. Central Park was, as usual, very pretty.

How many mutations are there that he'd want if he could choose? Drew could answer that quickly. Anything but the one he had. If he had to choose though?
"I'd like to be able to heal people. Or maybe make sure they didn't get hurt in the first place. Or maybe make things taste purple. That would confuse the heck out of people."
He grinned. Drew could just picture people's faces as everything started to taste purple.
"Another good mutation? The ability to make cream pies appear at will." if it were possible Drew's grin got bigger, "Just imagine all the slapstick comedy bits you could pull off with that!"
Maybe he was drunk. Just a little. Drew took another drink of his beer. If this was drunk then it was very fun.

He nodded while trying to decide if he wanted another beer. Yeah humans could be very punchable. Drew listened to Maya's story about this mutant hater that hadn't shot her yet. The end of it sounded real familiar. Maybe that was what spikes was on?
"Huh, no idea but whatever it was I bet that's what Spikes was on." Drew drained the last of the beer from his glass and decided that another would be fine, "The guy was massive had these long metal spikes poking out of his skin. Nasty piece of work. He just decided to rampage downtown and happened to pick the cafe that a friend and I were in to decimate. With some help from the cops and another mutant we eventually took him down just for the guy to turn into some skinny geek type right in front of us."
Drew chuckled.
"Rhy really wasn't happy about that."
He chuckled a little more before settling against the bar.
