The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jude took Ami's request with all the gravity it deserved. But anything he thought was an appropriate answer to that sounded far too hokey in his head even if his heart thought it was the coolest thing ever. He nodded gravely. Jude had no intention of breaking anyone's heart. "I'll bring her back in one piece."
Muse took his hand without him even officially offering it to her. Jude took this as a sign of trust and also just a plain old good sign.
When they turned to leave together it totally felt like they were getting away with something.
Where were they walking? Jude didn't know. He was just been happy to be walking. For a while there, he'd thought Ami was going to break his legs.
He swung their hands between them. That was one crisis averted that he hadn't forseen. "Zat could have gone worse." Jude adjusted his sunglasses on his nose and grinned at Svetlana. Yeah. He was totally getting away with something. He had somehow managed to snag the most fun girl on the block.
"Did you eat already?" Now that the rush of triumph was wearing off, the initial reason for him wanting to find Svetlana today was settling back onto his shoulders.
"I sought it'd be nice to talk..." He had a few things on his heart. Poems about her eyes and lovey-dovey stuff yeah, but some heavy stuff too.
Jude had thought it might be close enough to walk... it probably wasn't. He just wasn't thinking straight. He just wanted to be doing something active and riding in a cab wasn't active. But it was faster. "Get in. It's not too far so ze fair won't be bad between us."
Kat explained about his... parents. It was just too weird to think of them in that capacity. They were his Ghost and his Sebastian. And yes, he still claimed Sebastian even if he didn't want him hanging around Future Sight. It was just better if he stayed away while they figured out the trigger for the apocalypse.
And wouldn't Aedus be surprised when his parents turned out to be about the same age as he looked right now? Jude tapped his foot the entire trip to the Iris Clinic.
"Would it really help to go to ze police?" If he sounded impatient, it was because he was. Weren't the police already involved? What else could they do? "Zey don't know I'm grown up. I'm probably a missing person too." Yeah, actually the police could be a bad idea if they presented Jude as the adopted son. This was sort of complex...
And it seemed like forever, but eventually they pulled up in front of the brick building labeled "Iris Clinic."
"Could you change into a lizard man?" They crunched up the drive and the reason for the boys' fight became clear. Someone had squashed someone else's plants. The green haired one was trying to stuff a bunch of wilted and uprooted flowers into the gecko's mouth. "Yep. You'll get used to it eventually."
Jude snickered and pointed out the large tree next to the wall that had compromised the dirt beneath the barrier. "I found zat when I was a student here." Ohhh just a couple months ago? It felt like years.
"You have to be careful of ze night time defenses. Zey're meant to keep people out, but sometimes work to keep you in." Good advice from one runaway to another.
And then they were at the grand front entrance. Jude pulled open the wooden portal and flourished his hand for Chase's amusement. The front hall was tiled and sported a fancy looking chandelier. "To ze left, library. To ze right, Administrative offices. Do you need a tour before you decide?" He might or might not since he had an escape route handy.
The grass was always greener on the inside of the walls of the Mansion. Literally. They had plant mutants for that kind of thing. Jude couldn't wait to show the kid.
"Zis is se outer wall. If you ever need to sneak out, I know a good spot zat only fits ze smaller kids."
Jude pat the brick structure as they walked along. He hadn't been back here since he'd left, but he didn't think it would be a problem now that he was an adult. It wasn't like they could claim he needed a guardian or something.
The grass grew higher closer to the wall. It had to be harder to trim. But the closer they got to the gate, the better everything was manicured. Manicured not cut or trimmed. It was far too perfect for such mundane words.
He stopped at the massive wrought iron gate that would open for cars and let Chase get an eye full of the beautiful lawn and shrubs and far up the gravel drive, the massive building itself. "I was a student here, not too long ago." And that's how he knew not to bother with the car gate and the buzzer. He went straight to the pedestrian gate and typed in the four digit code. He did it slow so Chase could see.
The door opened and they were free to roam the lawn. A mutant with mossy green hair seemed to be wrestling with a human sized gecko over by the clumps of irises off in the side yard, but other than that not too many people were out doors this time of day. Must have been in class.
"Welcome to ze Mansion. Most everyone is a mutant here even zough you don't have to be to attend."
"I don't know. I wasn't zere. I sought... I sought she wanted to leave for a while to get the people who made the mess at her apartment, but pregnant ladies don't take risks like zat. Zis Ghost doesn't take risks like zat."
Jude locked the back door and pulled the little spotted lace curtains closed across the small window. He continued talking a million French tinted words a minute as he walked toward the front door. The glass panel was gone, replaced by boards and bent nails. Most everyone else was out getting supplies to fix this place up. Would they be sorry that Jude and Kat hadn't finished cleaning up before ditching? Probably.
"They lost track of Sebastian. Not for long, I'm sure, but he just... changed his daily patterns." Yeah. After his son grew up and shoved him out the door. "And ze Clinic was hit maybe ze same day? Maybe just close..." It seemed like they might go to the Clinic first. "I don't know what ze Xmen are doing." Probably looking, right? "Shin and Keaely are boths Xmen. Zey have to know what happened since zey live next door."
He got out his phone to start texting Eros. And, maybe Svetty.
Jude nodded. Yep. That about summed it up. He wanted to go out with Svetlana. He really wanted to talk to her and have her hold his hand.
Did Aurum know...? About Ghost...? Jude opened his mouth to ask, but he thought he might have heard some hopeful noises that would indicate the girls were done in the other room. It was on Jude's mind. He wanted to talk to someone about it. But he much preferred to talk it over with Svetty.
There was a simple explanation for this. She was confused. "No. Kat. Ghost iz gone. Ze Iris Clinic got ransacked, zere were police and it was a crime scene and everysing." Of course... Ghost being gone didn't mean that she wasn't still pregnant...
"Oh no." Screw waiting around for Aedus. They had to go look for them now. Jude went over to the counter where he'd stashed his wallet and keys and stuffed them back into his pockets along with this phone which now had Aedus' number in it. He went for the door.
Pregnant ladies didn't go out hunting bad guys. He had to go find her. Now.
Meeses? Well that just sounded silly. He distinctly remembered saying meese. "More zan one goose is geese. Why is moose not meese?" Stupid English nuances. He would try to remember that.
"Thanks." For the sympathy, the correction and glazing over the awkwardness about the moose attack.
"Smells good." Typical man compliment, three words or less.
"Why do meese attack anyone?" Because his hair was delicious? Yeah Jude was not explaining that. Nor would he be explaining that the deer had mutant powers. Or... anything else.
"Maybe scared? My power had some glowing..." Or maybe curious for the sounds they had made. Svetty could make some good sounds. He tried not to look too guilty for even thinking that.
Yes. He'd been beat up by a moose. It was humiliating and he'd hated that Svetlana had seen the whole thing happen.
"Zat was my fault. We were pretty far away in case somesing happened withs Svetlana's power. Then moose. She had to call DocProf and he sought it was a good lesson to leave me zis bruise." And other bruises. But not many people were flinging themselves at him for hugs so they weren't as much of a bother as the nose bit.
From equals to mother son? "Yeah. Tell me about it. She always gave me a little more leeway zan she would have a normal kid, I sink." Also because she was way too nice now. Jude figured that if he'd really tried, he could have been a kid again. But he didn't want to be. And Sebastian might have tried to steer him, in his own way, but Jude really didn't respect him in the same way that he had respected Ghost.
"Older brother?" That was so like this Ghost. Leave her alone for a second and she'd find something to adopt. Maybe it was Strike or someone else from the future? "She say who she's adopting zis time?"
"It works like..." He felt totally stupid trying to explain this to someone who had no experience feeling things outside of the norm. "Like an invisible arm or magnetic wind. It points at powers it wants. I don't know what zey are, just zat it wants zem." It had been drawn to Ami. At least, he thought it had. But Aurum could live in denial if that was what he really wanted. It wasn't Jude's place to burst that bubble.
As for Svetlana... "Not a whole lot." He was a horrible liar so it was clear that not a whole lot meant that he wished it were more. "We were supposed to work on control for her power, but we got attacked by a moose." Jude pointed at his face. Okay. So he'd skipped a part, but he wasn't one to kiss-and-maybe-more and tell.
He... didn't know? "Oh." Jude didn't mean to spring it on him, the grown-up-ness or the revelation about Amelia. They'd just seemed close...
"Sorry, my ability..." It was still a little new to him even if he'd been drilling to keep control. "Maybe it was Svetty zat it wanted to copy. Last time I ran into Ami, she wasn't a mutant." Jude readjusted his sungalsses. He could have been mistaken, but it wasn't Svetlana who had opened the door or who had been standing close enough to tempt his greedy power.
If Jude had been living in his own place, he would not want a little sister hanging around. Especially if... well, no. Svetlana had said that it wasn't like that between them.
"I'm a power copier." Jude shifted. Aurum was... nicer than he remembered.
