The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Jorge
His question had struck a nerve. Michael seemed to be taking it hard as he wracked his brain looking for his voice. Jorge knew that the boy was not going to resist answering his question, after all, that was the rule of the game and if there was anything that the boy seemed intent on it was following the rules. So the detective remained patient and silent, simply watching as the young boy attempted to find some solace in his surroundings.
It was at that moment that he viewed the boy’s discomfort that the detective truly felt bad for everything that he had gone through. It was apparent that he had suffered a lot and the worst part was that he was not loosening the blame that he lashed too himself. He was blaming himself for his father’s shortcomings as both a father and a human being. His father was a monster for putting his son through these atrocities but it was done in such a way that Mikey couldn’t even blame him. He blamed himself for everything and that was a denial that Jorge simply could not break through.
He prayed for the boy; he prayed he would find hope and solace.
>> “D-daddy said…daddy said that he had to. He had to...to put me in my room.”
Jorge closed his eyes a bit angrily. Not at Mikey, of course, but at the boy’s father. He wanted just five minutes alone with him in a room in which the Jorge was not a police officer. Just five minutes and he could teach him a lesson that he could never forget.
But the detective kept his composure as he listened, still not trying to make eye contact with Michael as the boy huddled himself into a corner and pulled nearly every toy and item he loved close to him. Jorge began to wonder at this behavior. Did he imagine that all these things would be stolen? And if so, by who? Jorge was not going to take anything but who knows what Michael thought after everything he had gone through.
>> “Didn’t…didn’t mean to but my…my weird part of me h-hurt…hurt…Th-there was a kid. A-and…he…he didn’t…he hurt me but I-I’m little…and-and then his back.”
Jorge wanted to comfort the boy. To give him a hug and tell him that it was okay, but he knew that he couldn’t. Not only was it not proper but judging by Michael’s reactions, he probably would not have taken any comfort from it. So the detective instead remained in his spot, not want to startle the boy by moving suddenly or stepping out of his line of vision. Instead, the detective remained seated as he lowered his gaze to the teddy bear; the only line of defense between Michael and the world.
“Shhhhh,” Jorge attempted to whisper as calmly and comforting as possible. Maybe if he sounded and remained calm, Michael would at least be able to draw that from him. “It’s okay. You don’t have to talk about that,” Jorge said as he continued making his mental notes. “Accidents happen…” he said, “Especially…with people like us.”
Maybe he could connect with the boy on the level that they were both mutants. That seemed to be his only course of action now…

>> "Well…I am wearing a ring because Jorge asked me to marry him. And I said yes."
There, the question had been answered. Jorge had been trying to steel himself up for days, ever since Gemma told him that the kids would be visiting. He sincerely did like the both of them, very much. Valerie was a tough nut to crack, though. She was exactly like her mother except she tended to be a little less trustful of him. The last time that they were here, Valerie did everything possible to bust his chops but Jorge never once wavered in front of her.
Since then, he had not seen them. He had been in the same room when Gemma spoke to them over the phone and he had even taken calls from them a couple times. But it was never more than that.
Now though, the entire dynamic of their relationship was going to change. Not only were those two going to get a new sibling, but Jorge was going to be marrying their mother. He could only wonder what kind of flack he was going to receive from Valerie for that. Laurent seemed good with him (he definitely enjoyed his cooking) but would Valerie be okay?
The smaller, young version of his fiancé straightened up, squaring herself as she stepped forward. Jorge prepared himself for everything…except what she actually did.
>> "About damn time!"
She poked at his chest and Jorge could only smirk and chuckled a little at her comment. That was Valerie, all right, always throwing a curveball.
“Sorry to keep everyone waiting?” he apologized jokingly. He then nodded to Valerie and Laurent. “It’s great to see you both again.”
He smirked as he glanced to the side and saw Chase partially hiding behind Gemma. He uttered a mental prayer to the boy since it was now time for his introduction. This…was going to be an interesting family.

>> "They're here.”
This…was going to be an interesting day. This would be the first time that he had seen Gemma’s kids in a long while and, this incident, was going to have quite the repercussions. First of all, these kids were going to meet Chase for the first time, their new little brother. Thankfully Gemma had warned them beforehand over the phone. Sadly, that was not all that those two were going to be in for.
Gemma had also decided to break the news to them that not only had he proposed…but that she had said yes. Jorge, for all intent and purposes, was going to now be related to them through marriage.
As he said…interesting day.
He smiled at Gemma, giving her his “everything-will-be-fine” look as he glanced down to Chase. The boy looked nervous since he was about to be meeting the rest of his new family. Jorge smirked as he patted the boy’s shoulder reassuringly to give him a chance to relax. He knew that those two were going to love Chase, it was him that they (well…Valerie) had a problem with.
But things would work out…right?
“You’ll be fine,” he said with a nod to Chase.
Suddenly there were footsteps outside his door and he knew that the kids had arrived. Well…it was time for the entire family to meet.
>> "Mom!"
Laurent was first to stumble in and he had quickly embraced his mother. Quickly following after was Valerie. She was just as pretty as ever and also maintained that spitfire tone to her voice that tortured him the last time she was in town. He could only imagine how things were going to go once she found out that he had proposed to her mot--
>> "You are wearing a ring…Why is she wearing a ring?"
Jorge smiled warmly (inadvertently it probably could have been interpreted as “fatherly”) as he positioned himself next to Gemma. Hand on the small of her back, he sighed as he looked at Valerie…and then glanced to Gemma.
“Love…um…maybe you should say?” he commented. It probably would be best coming from their mother anyways.

Jorge sighed as he finished his prayer and slowly began to replace the necklace with the crucifix and wedding back into its hiding place. He never liked to be parted with these items but it was always a fear that exactly that would happen when he was out in the field, especially when he used his powers. That was why he kept a small, wooden box hidden underneath his alter in order to keep them safe.
Gently he pulled hidden box out and slipped the items in. He set about hiding it underneath his altar when the voice of his deputy rebounded in his ears.
>> "Jorge! Something's up!"
Immediately the detective looked up. He knew that something was going to happen, things had been far too quiet lately to not. What was it now? The town under attack? One of the citizens attempting to get too uppity? Maybe the outlaying farms needed help? He wouldn’t be surprised. Time and time again he tried to convince them the safety of working inside the town but they wanted to keep their independence. Jorge was not going to take that away from them.
The choice was theirs, and even if they decided to live on the outskirts, that did not mean he was not going to do the right thing. He would help them. After all, in a world such as this, that did not meant he couldn’t be civil to his neighbors.
Checking his hip holster, he felt his Smith and Wesson 686 Magnum. Last he checked it had full rounds. That was the good thing about being a police officer at the end of the world, he was able to grab what he could once he made the decision to live. Thankfully he did his best to not rely on his gun too much in order to conserve rounds. After three years, even his stockpile of ammo was beginning to run low.
Once he checked to make sure his gun was safely holstered, Jorge exited the tent. He was just in time to see that Gina had already taken off, following Zelek and Eruption as they flew off on discs of minerals. Judging by the fact that they were flying, the issue had to stem from one of the outlying farms.
He stalked around the edge of his tent and nodded to the only other creature that he trusted in this town besides Gina…his black percheron horse , Neptune. A former carriage horse, Jorge stumbled across him when he first came to Central Park and found the poor beast with remains of the carriage still attached to it. He managed to free the creature but it took a full year before he would fully gain the animal’s trust. Another year went by before he learned to actually ride the creature but with constant training, he soon became proficient at it. Now, Neptune was one of his trusted allies. They cared for each other and both had saved one another’s lives more often than they could count.
Softly he rubbed the horse’s muzzle as he walked around, grabbed onto the horses faded, worn saddle, and hefted himself onto the creature’s back. Thankfully, with some careful trading, he was able to find both a saddle and reins in useable condition.
A pat to the horse’s mane and Jorge clicked his tongue as the tapped the animal’s flanks with his heels.
“Come on, Neptune. Yah!” he announced with immediately set the horse into a gallop through the town. In no time he was catching up to Gina and gave her a quick wave to show that he was following. Time to see what the ruckus was about today…

Jorge watched as the battle raged. Fur, feathers, spittle, it all flew everywhere and it was truly a terrifying sight to behold. Anyone would have been terrified from the whole ordeal, but not this detective. He knew that he needed to hold onto his nerve and keep strong since innocent lives were at stake here. Elizabeth found herself wrapped up in this mess, Carry had fallen into some more beastial state of mind, and the perp was dangerously close to losing his life. Jorge had to intervene.
But first things first…
He yelled at Elizabeth to grab her attention. It took a moment or two but when she finally caught on, she seemed to catch his drift. He waved for her to come closer and she began to slow and steady crawl. Jorge kept his gun raised but he didn’t get involved in the fight just yet. First he needed to make sure that the bystander was safe.
Roars and hisses filled his ears. He tried to keep his eyes on Elizabeth but also on the duo that were duking it out to claim the title of king of the concrete jungle. It was only when she was close enough to hold out her hands did Jorge finally make a move. Whether or not they saw it, he didn’t know, nor did he care. Her safety was most important at the moment.
Seeing she was close, Jorge holstered his gun quickly and reached out taking the young woman in his arm. Swiftly he pulled her over and towards the edge of the building that had the ladder he had just climbed up.
“I gotcha, Elizabeth, I gotcha,” he said encouragingly as he slowly removed her from his embrace and moved to block her from the vision of both Carry and the Lion. Urgently he whispered as he pulled his gun from the holster again. “Head down the ladder, okay? Head down and do NOT stop until you reach the bottom. I’ll handle this.”

Jorge
One tent was mixed in with the lot from The Town. It was a tent that was nondescript, pretty unimpressive and easily looked over. It looked just like any other tent, surrounded by small, shanty buildings that made up part of the Town. As a matter of fact, the tent was so basic, so simple, that people often wondered who would want to live in it? After all, enough time had passed since the apocalypse that people were beginning to see the necessity in proper living arrangements.
After all, stone, metal, all that held up bunch better than finely woven canvas with patched up tears in it. But, whenever the townfolk attempted to speak to the owner of this tent, they never got through to the occupant. He wanted things simple, that was all.
Most would have called him crazy for that; maybe avoid him since in this day and age, no one could deal with the insane.
But this tent dweller, this…man, had put his life on the line to protect the Town more times than could be counted. He a savior to some, a reminder of justice to others, and to still more he was just a man that nobody wanted to cross. After all, should he walk out on the Town…where would they be left?
Jorge Cervantes lived in this simple tent; former police officer, former X-men, now upholder of justice and some sense of civilization in a mad world. He was not a leader, but many looked to him for guidance. It was a hard role to take on, but Jorge did it to keep the citizens of the Town pacified and protected. So long as there were some people in the town for everyone to look up to, then that should keep the masses from panicking. That was why Jorge had accepted the help of the seven red devils and a tactician. But the one he trusted the most of his deputy, Gina. The young gargoyle had proven herself time and time again and was his only source of trust. Together, they kept this town safe.
Jorge did his best; but he was not the protector made-of-iron that he presented himself to be. Especially not now…not when he was praying…
As most people do when fallen on hard times, Jorge returned to his religious roots. He prayed regularly and, while part of him doubted anyone was really listening, it was enough to keep him sane. After all, when the end of the world came, he lost so much.
Inside his tent, kneeling on the soft ground, Jorge hand his eyes closed as he knelt before a small altar. The former detective, now full-time sheriff for the Town, was dressed just as simply as his tent was. His clothes, patched up, dirty and torn, hung loose about his shoulders in shades of green and beige. In his hands, covered in fingerless gloves, was a tarnished, silver chain that had two very important things that survived the blast: his grandmother’s crucifix…and the silver wedding band of his deceased wife…Gemma Taylor. Softly he ran the chain and the charms through his fingers like a rosary as he prayed…
“Eternal Father, I offer You all the Wounds, pains, and the Precious Blood from the Sacred Feet of Your Son, Our Lord and Master, for all Your children who are wandering like sheep without a shepherd in this terrifying forest. Protect them against wild predators and give them peace that they might be one, and united in the same way as the nail held fast the Feet of my Master and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.” he whispered.
The prayer continued again as Jorge muttered to himself, praying to the cross and running the chain through his fingers. But even as his prayer ran again, he would pause for half a second every time his fingers brushed the wedding band. A tear welled up but he continued to pray. All he wanted was peace…but sometimes even that was too much to ask for.
Silently he prayed as he took another shaky breath. Too many days had gone by without something befalling them…it was bound to happen in the next day or so, maybe even today…

Jorge ran with all his might. He respected this place far too much to see it burst into flames and if there was anyone who was better suited to aid in this situation, it was him. As he dashed into the hall of bellowing smoke, he stared face to face with the formless, black beast that filled the long corridor. He squinted as he tried to stare through the smoke. Students were beginning to file out, all running to get outside and away from heat and flames that were the source of this choking monster.
But the detective didn’t step back. Instead as he pointed students towards the exits and down the stairs while he stared down that black hall; he was going to have to move in.
He stepped aside until the last person went zooming back and Jorge closed his eyes. Within seconds his flesh melted away and was replaced with the undulating currents of rushing water. Up to his full height, Jorge sloshed into the hallway, slipping and moving around panicked students and trying to help those that needed help, he soon found himself at the source. The room emanated heat and already he could see one person there, hacking at the door with a shimmering axe/arm, while another attempted to direct more students away.
Instantly he recognized them as Shin and Kealey. He gave them both a nod, since speaking in this form was not possible, before he turned and joined Shin at his side. A glance at the opening and already he could feel, even through his water, the heat coming. It was massive.
He would await, though, as he began to build up water and readied some to throw into the room and douse the flames. But…not until Shin was done opening that door…

>> ”Sounds like a plan. I’m pretty much just looking for the first person I can find whose feeling devious and pleased with themselves.”
Jorge nodded as he led Kealey away. It sounded like a plan to him. He wondered just how far her powers extended. Could she sense the whole building and zoom in on the culprit from there? Or was she out of range? Either way, hopefully the security cameras could offer a glimpse at whoever it was that they were looking for. Maybe there would be a floor, a room that looked different? It was a long shot but it was the best idea that he could come up with at the moment.
Besides, the electricity was about to be cut and they needed to utilize every opportunity they had to find this psychopath.
“How far do your powers extend?” he asked. “Can you feel anything now?”
Once she answered, Jorge turned and began to scan camera screen after camera screen. So far he was finding nothing that pointed to their culprit. At most all he saw were more people being injured, others in danger, and furniture and fixtures running amok throughout every floor of the building. But…there was one thing odd. One camera showed a floor with a mass of converged furniture, but there were no people to be seen. Instead, it looked as if everything were standing guard.
He considered, glanced to Kealey and then motioned to the screen.
“That looks to be quite a floors up, around the center of the building,” he said as he noted the position of the camera feed. “But…I just don’t know.” He sighed as he turned back to Kealey. “I’d say around there is our best bet, but I’ll follow where you lead,” he said with a nod. She was a leader, after all, and she had far more useful powers in this situation than he did. He was going to make damn sure she didn’t get hurt, though.

Well everyone, the time has come. My wedding is swiftly coming upon me and afterwards is the honeymoon. So from June 24 - June 30th, I am going to be on vacation; which means no posting and more than likely, EXTREMELY limited time on MRO from my phone. But only a week so you all should be fine without me.
Until then I will try to close threads I am in and for those that are still active when I go, go ahead and skip me or please be patient! Thank you everyone!
