The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Emre was distracted, which was probably how he missed the new arrival disappearing. Maybe he went to get help from staff? Maybe he was staff? All Emre knew was his bags vanished, the boy vanished, and he was wandering down a hallway alone.
Was he alone? Was that the sound of the bird? How big was this school anyway? Should he even be allowed to wander the halls on his own?
"Hello?" he thought he heard an answer. He found himself on a kitchen. There were no bags, no stranger, just himself lost and now hoping he wasn't imagining the sound of a distant hello of a bird answering.
To say a lot happened at once was well, an understatement. The bird glowed, the bird went through a door. The bird talked. Emre blinked and his mouth dropped open, and he tried to remember just what powers he had picked up. Was glowing normal? He thought going through things was part of it, but why the glowing? And what about the words? Why did the bird leave?
Someone approached and Emre stopped himself from going after the bird. "Oh! Hi! Actually, yes, I did need help. But, I think that bird lives here. Oh, this is my stuff." he awkwardly made a gesture between offering a handshake and turning to chase down the bird. Should he check on it? He didn't know what he did to it exactly...
Emre jumped at the sudden noise and turned to look at a bird now sitting on his tower of suitcases. The bird looked at him, tilting its head to the side as if judging his presence there.
Emre looked at the bird. The bird looked back.
"Hey, you know where to find an adult around here?"
The bird looked away. Emre sighed.
"Hey, how about we trade. I give you some cool powers for the day, you help me find a place to stay?" Emre wasn't sure why he bothered. Maybe it was the jet lag? It seemed as good a plan to bribe the first animal he saw for help.
Even if it was a little suspicious looking...
To his surprise, the bird responded and hopped closer. Was that a yes? Parrots were pretty smart, maybe it actually knew what to do! Without thinking, Emre pasted the new set of powers onto the bird.
Emre stood at the front desk, surrounded by the baggage carts he had lugged there from the taxi cab. An assortment of brand name suitcases sat neatly stacked, and in his hand was his leather wallet. The clerk in front of him frowned, and pushed buttons on their screen before sighing.
"I'm sorry sir, but you will have to contact your credit card company to see what's wrong. It happens sometimes, especially when people are traveling. The companies have fraud protection and do their best to stop unauthorized charges. Don't worry, we can keep your things here while you sort out payment arrangements."
Em nodded, taking back his card and flipping it over to check the phone number. He should have known international travel wouldn't be this easy. After pressing a number of buttons into his phone, he was left in a heated argument of the hotel lobby. A few girls giggled behind him. He tried not to feel irritated. French is so cute... one remarked.
Cute, not hot, cute. He wanted to melt into the floor, and pushed his sunglasses down to cover his eyes. Deciding he needed the air, he stepped outside and waited for his bank to get back to him. The hold music was obnoxious.
However, it did not seem like he was the only one having troubles
"Listen, I think you have the wrong person..."
A vendor was standing at their stand, confronting a blond haired woman. The vendor looked angry, and continued where their argument left off. "I saw you take it! Your...your hand went right through the cart, but I saw--"[/color]
"You saw nothing..."
The voice had a sudden authority, and Emre froze, blinking at what he thought was a small bit of green light. Was this girl a mutant? He hadn't had a new power in awhile, and heck, reaching through objects could be fun. Then, the vendor blinked and returned to what he was doing.
"Whoa..."
Mind control? Heck, he needed to try this one!
Emre let his powers reach out and snatch hold of the woman before she got out of reach. His arm felt a little tingly as the copy activated. His skin had a warm sensation as the tattoo there change, and he looked down, blinking at the tiny moon tattoo with a little green wisp glowing between some trees. It was sort of eerie looking, but Emre sort of dug it. He was still staring as his phone clicked back to the bank.
"I'm sorry sir, we reached out to the account holder and this was not a mistake. We were notified this was unauthorized travel and have locked the accounts at their request. If you need to open it, I suggest you talk to them."
Frozen. Accounts. Emre cursed, hung up the phone, and cursed some more. He never thought his parents would go this far. It was just a trip! He was looking for his cousin! Why would they freeze his accounts?!
"Excuse me...but...are you a mutant?"
Emre looked over and a girl was standing next to him. She pointed to his tattoo, and Emre froze before he could lie. Ah, she saw. He nodded instead. The girl gave a little smile, then reached in her pocket. He was surprised when she pulled out a paper and pen and wrote something down.
"If you're having trouble, there is a school in town. They always seem willing to help a mutant in trouble. Maybe head there?"
"Merci beaucoup," Emre said, and took the note. Then he flagged a cab, heading to the new address....new powers locked into his tattoo.
It took almost an hour for Emre to collect his things, a cab, and convince someone to take him to the school. This used the last of his cash so he desperately hoped this mansion was all it was cracked up to be. At the front door, the mound of suitcases were dumped inside. Emre slouched against them. Now all he needed was for someone to greet him. That should be simple, right?

(see powers) Example of markings: Em loads a necromancer power, his tattoo shifts to be a skeleton. He shifts to carry animal empathy, and it transforms into a wolf. The tattoo takes up a 5" band of skin on his upper arm that he can hide with a somewhat longer shirt if he doesn't care for the tattoo for that day.
Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: Changing tattoo on right arm.

Miscellaneous clothing: N/A
Character
Personality: Em is spoiled. He came from a well off family in France, and had tutors and staff to clean up his messes. When he would use his powers on random animals, it was always up to another person to stop the house from being destroyed. That being said, he isn't generally mean spirited. He is smart, and while he has little concept of proper money management, he does realize not everyone had life given to them on a silver platter. He liked to think he was a good person who always paid staff well, and admitted when he got too carried away with fun.
Em spent some time with the wrong crowd, but generally decided he wasn't interested in that life. Maybe it's because he spends so much time around animals, but there is always a bit of a soft spot in him he tries not to let people see.
Hobbies/ Interests: Gaming/Computers
Job or part time job and description: Em was being pressured to pick a career path, so he chose to run away to America instead. Why not? He wouldn't need a job there, right?
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Emre hates being useless. While he can be downright lazy from time to time, he hates the idea of not being good at anything. He is smart enough to learn fluent English and get good grades, but has no career ambitions or dreams. Em often uses his powers as a sense of empowerment. He can let a creature weaker than him suddenly have the chance to defend themselves. He doesn't want to just be forgotten or alone.
Special talents: (not related to mutation)
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral, he bounces between good and bad. Today he might let loose a mob of fireball wielding cats, tomorrow he might help someone track down their dog. Hard to say what he will do next.
Mutations
Mutation description:
Em has the power to copy and paste mutations onto animals. The powers are scaled to the size of the animal, but whatever receives the powers retains a similar level of control and use of the powers. Strengths and weaknesses are both transferred as this is a temporary x-gene "paste" that transforms the chosen subject.
Example: Em can copy and paste a fire mutants power to a cat. The cat can light things on fire if it chooses, and would be immune to it's own fire just like the mutant was.
Strengths: Animals with powers! It's a great distraction, and a good way to get out of a bad situation. Emre has unleashed a whole box of fireball spitting mice from a science lab, and given an old bird the ability to heal itself. In this way, his powers can be both selfish and selfless.
Weaknesses and Limitations:
Clock strikes midnight, not a minute sooner!
After 24 hours the animal reverts to it's normal self. He cannot manually end the paste. If he regrets it, tough luck buttercup.
Make Your Choices Count
Em can copy and paste once per hour. A group 'paste' counts as 1. There are no partial or half-pastes, he must be fully recharged before he can use his power again.
It's All About Mass
Em can paste onto a single animal, or a group, depending on the size of the animals. In total one "paste" can only reach the mass equivalent of an elephant. For example, small animals (rodents and birds), could have 100s of subjects (if he gathered them all in one place. See Everyone in The Photo). Large animals like dogs or cats would be much more limited. An elephant is the largest and would be the only subject.
Everyone in The Photo
Em has to have all subjects within a 10 foot radius to include them in the paste. This makes small animals trickier as he needs to include the most on one attempt. That phrase herding cats becomes much more literal.
Only Hold One
Em can only hold one mutant power on "copy". He can use the same copy on each "paste", but has to let go of the previous power to copy a new one. The mutant he copies must also be within the 10 foot range initially, however, they do not need to be present for the "paste". Think of Em as storing that code on his clipboard to carry for awhile. The clipboard being his arm, and his tattoo, that is.
Not My Problem Em has no control over the animals and what they do with the powers he gives them. He was once followed by a teleporting dog for the whole day because it would reappear in any room he tried to go into. Blink dog for the win.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities: Em is into strength training, and is fairly fit. He had private trainers from time to time at home, but has to sort it out now that he's in the states.
Fighting Style: "Oh Look, a Distraction!" Em generally tries to make a scene and get away. If it looks like things could get messy, he has found it easier to just get away.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Running away is so much easier than fighting.
History Of Your Character
Emre grew up in France with a very wealthy family. Someone helped found a company, the rest invested, one of those big money sort of situations. He had a rather golden childhood with private tutors who helped him learn English, and when his mutation developed at 15, he was more than delighted to cause trouble.
Emre got scooped up by the wrong crowd for several years in his teens. Some guys talked him into using his powers to help them rob people or places, cause vandalism and the likes. But Em quickly decided he wasn't a fan of that life, mostly because how he felt he 'used' the animals he actually really liked.
In the end Emre decided he wanted a change of scenery, and heard rumor he had a cousin who lived in New York. Emre decided to use his parents money to fly himself (and a lot of his belongings) to New York and rain on his cousin's parade.
Little did he know, once he got there, his parents may not be too keen to keep paying for his rebellious escape...
Roleplay
What’s your OOC alias?: Mati
Where did you learn about this site?: Once upon a time, I googled, and I stayed.
Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Evelyn, Tses, Mae, Cora, Malcolm, Blue, Zaid.
Sample RP:
"This is the last time I give a cat telepathy...."
Emre rubbed his forehead, trying to drown out the droning of meows in his head. The idea had seemed fun at first: Give a cat telepathy, it can share it's thoughts! New flash: giving an animal the ability to share their thoughts does not, in fact, give you the ability to understand their thoughts. The meows started as the cats away of convincing him it needed food. Then it became this sort of conversation the cat continued to have with him, following him down the street and trying to understand what he had done. Maybe the cat understood Emre's thoughts, because it bumped his leg and meowed once, almost like an apology. It figured. Cats were smart enough to understand him, but it didn't work the other way around.
The tattoo on his forearm was a sort of new school looking brain. It wasn't the worst tattoo he had on his arm, but it wasn't his favorite, so he kept it covered with his jacket, feeling around for a new power to swipe. Maybe he could try ice powers? Pigeons with ice powers, what could go wrong with that?
