The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Latex skirt. Bah! She cracked a smile and turned to peek around in the hall, before shutting the door behind her. The nice little "Hello Charlotte." Caught her off guard for a moment.
She had never met the girl before... How would she know her name? Pieces of the puzzle slowly clicked together in her head, not in much of a hurry as usual. Girl that looked a lot like Gawain, she had the same snarky mannerisms, and she knew her name... her fake name. Not many of the people she had the pleasure of meeting walked away with urges of bragging about the encounter.... so that was quite unusual. Unless....
"Holy %!*# you are a werewoman..."
The blush and hiding of guilty handcuffs didn't help the situation. Her grin grew twice its size, and she cross the room to stand in front of the former male. "I told you I'd be back." Leaning right, then left, she tried to spy the handcuffs in order to get a clearer view of what make they were, and pursed her lips. "So, spill the beans. What did ya do? Rob a candy store? Mug a little old lady?..."
She paused, blinking, and let her hands settle on her hips. "...or maybe there really is someone downstairs tiptoeing around in a latex skirt..." She shrugged, and turned around, heading back towards the door. "I was wrong last time, so who's to say you're not joking now..."
Her eyes dropped back down to he stick in the dirt, and she blinked. Work together. With a nice little question mark at the end. Her eyes popped back up to the dinosaur in front of her, Amber, and she grinned. "Sure! We can help each other out." She couldn't really see a downfall either. A dino mutant on her side, ready to slash and maul anyone who tried to stop them!... Okay, maybe not the slash and maul part. But she would certainly scare them away easily enough. "Alright, now that were a team. Where do we start? I know the gist of where mine might be... but bones could be anywhere."
She turned a curious look down at the spider munching away at the lizard in her palm, and smacked herself quickly on the forehead. "oh, DUH!" Dropping the spider to the ground, it was none to happy to have its meal interrupted. "Go scouting. Report back to me if you find any interesting bones, or spider filled amber..." Heh... Amber amber. How funny that she'd meet a dino with the same name as what she was hunting. The rest of the hoard dropped their meals and scrambled off into the darkness, but the spider with the lizard stood its ground. "That means you too!" She shooed it away with her hands, then propped them on her hips when the little creature tried to take its meal with it.
"Ah! Drop it, GO!" One stern point of a finger and a swift glare later, and the spider abandoned its dinner and scurried away into the darkness to join the search. She could hear its faint grumblings even once it was out of sight. "Minions... so hard to create these days..." Turning back to Amber, she grinned and crossed her arms. "They'll inform me if they find anything. In the meantime I suggest she have a look around of our own." Sweeping an arm out, she motioned for Dinogirl to lead the way, and turned her flashlight back to surveying the area.
Ahh, the mansion. It was still like a home away from home. Someone elses home, of course... that she technically wasn't supposed to be in. But technicalities aside, she had someone to visit and a little thing like illigal tresspassing wasn't going to stop her. Thankfully, the kid who had let her in wasn't about to either. It was difficult work, waiting for the gates to open as someone left just so she would waltz in with out having to jump a hedge.
Thankfully, she looked a little less Megan today, in a sundress and all. Something about white and yellow flowers seemed to make people take her for something she was not. Nice. As she rounded the corner and came to a stop in front of Gawain's door, she smoothed out her dress and flipped back her hair- adopting her best 'who, me?' innocent look. Then, without so much as a knock, she turned the knob and flung the door open.
"Hey-o, buddy bo-" What greeted her eyes was a girl sitting on Gawains bed, in handcuffs. The twenty three year old blinked, stared for a moment, then backstepped from the room and closed the door with a soft click. Maybe... the kid wasn't as nice and innocent as she had first thought. She blinked, staring at the door, and pursed her lips. Or maybe he had a hard time with women folk and had resorted to desperate measures?... Naw. That wasn't it.
... Was it? Throwing the door open again, she crossed her arms and leaned in the doorway. "I never would have pegged him for the bondage type. But I guess even the best of us can be fooled." She glanced about, expecting to see a pile of gags and whips laying about. "So where is the Kid?"
She relaxed a little, and uncrossed her arms when he started to tell her a little about himself. The grin disappeared, and she looked honestly curious. "The streets, huh?" Her eyes dropped from him, and she lifted a hand to inspect purple nails for a moment, before shifting and dropping her feet to the floor. "You can learn a lot from a life like that, I'd assume."
Megan stood, and crossed the room to slip on her shoes and pick up her bundle of dirty clothes. Part of her wanted to leave them... but the other part wanted to bring them home and wash them. You never knew when you would need a Girl Scout uniform on the spot... Besides, she had already left a nice enough present under his pillow. One was enough. "... and you can steal reflections to boot? Cool. Maybe you can steal mind and I can convince people I'm a vampire." Her tongue poked out momentarily, and she paused in front of the door.
"By the way..." Sending a silent command to her children, the spiders hopped to skittering about on the wall behind Speedy's bed, leaving silken trails behind. "Since I lied and all, I won't count your question about me as a a debt owed. I still owe you something kid, so you better hop to figuring out what you want." She lifted a hand, turning the door so she could prop it open on her knee, and grinned. "If I don't hear from you soon, I'll just have to stop back in, won't I?"
She saluted him and stepped outside, with a trail of eight legged critters in tow. On the wall they had scrawled her phone number, as well as a nice little grinning face underneath. She was so proud of them sometimes... they knew so many tricks! Of course, she neglected to mention the nice little present under his pillow, nor had she mentioned the fact that his dresser was missing one werewoman sports bra. He'd figure it all out when he read her nice, thoughtful note...
Gawain, Thanks for letting me use your shower. Your out of shampoo, and I borrowed one of your girlie bras. You can have this one though. Fair trade! XOXO
She had set the bait out, and he had side stepped it quite well- and quickly on top of that. A grin that could rival any hyena's cracked her face from ear to ear, and she scrambled forward on the bed, her fingers curling into the sheets as she leaned over and stared directly at him. Unusually colored eyes boring, searching. She loved it when people didn't believe her- it made things hard sometimes, but it was worth it.
"Sharp kid, I see. I'm guessing you hear many stories." The sores inside her mouth burst, as well as the ones on her back, and the small spiders wriggled free and skittered from her sleeves. "Truth is, I have loving parents. I had loving siblings. Nothing bad has ever happened to me... I just don't think or act like the rest of you. Guess you could call me a monster, or something along those lines." While she spoke, the small black cellar spiders that had popped into existence in her mouth crawled out when there were an openings, and still she stared. Unblinking.
"What's the point going through life in a blur? Normalcy is no fun... I need fun." Her tongue hung out for a moment, like a dog, and the rest of her babies dropped to the floor. "If that means assuming the identity of a girl scout, or infiltrating a school of mutants, it's well worth the effort." Once her small introduction was done, she sat back on her haunches and crossed her arms, spiders still skittering all over her. "I am proud of being what I am. I love being different... What about you? Are you proud of being a 'WereWoman', Gawain?" Megan cocked an eyebrow, and tilted her head back a little. Simply watching.
She blinked. He wanted to know about her? How... incredibly easy. She squinted for a moment, concentrating on forming a good handful of small spider creating bumps in her mouth- along the inside of her cheeks, then sighed and propped her arm up on her knee with her chin in her hand. "... About me huh?" She pursed her lips in thought and turned to stare at the wall. "Well, there's not much to know about me. I used to live in Minnesota, with my brother. Both he and I were forced to leave home when our powers kicked in... Mom and dad didn't much like us being mutated devil spawn."
She tinkered with the bottom of her borrowed shirt for a moment, having paused to collect her thoughts, then continued. "I guess getting rejected by my own flesh and blood caused me to have social issues. I had to see a therapist for a while and he told me I act out to get attention because of the deep longing I have to be-" Her lips twitched, and she fought back a grin. "- loved..." Megan paused, turning a solemn expression his way, and frowned. "Sorry if that was too much information..."
She sighed again, and lifted her hand, gesturing as she continued. "Anyway, we moved here a few years ago and started to pick up the pieces." The story of her life. Edited real special like for her captive audience. She felt the prickle of nearly ready bumps on her back and shoulders, and waited for a response. She'd show him exactly what she was once her babies were ready....
"Does that mean a silver coated Midol will kill you?" She blinked, and sat back up, whistling shortly at her babies. They paused, in the process of spelling out a few dirty words on the walls, and dropped to the floor. The small horde skittered her way, crawling up the bed to take shelter in her somewhat dry hair and shirt, and she crossed her legs again.
Her eyes landed on the boy across the room, and she stuck her tongue out at him. "Maybe someday your prince will show up bearing one of those dropped sports bras, and the two of you can elope to Paris." With an innocent blink, she started humming one of the songs she could remember from Cinderella. After a few moments, she stopped, and blinked up at the wall. She had left her room unguarded, open. No doubt there would be little bugs hiding all over in there. "All of that mumbo jumbo aside, I told you I owe you." The humor fell out of her voice for a moment, and she returned her icy eyes to the ceiling.
"Gotta tell me what you want, or I might forget." Not to mention the verbal contract would disappear once she stepped foot out the door.
Her smirk only widened, and she wiggled around on the bed to fully face him- effectively messing up speedy's bed sheets and pillows. Her expression, somewhat catty- if she did say so herself, showed her thoughts on the matter of room searching and the like.
"Why not? I could drag in a bunk bed and you'd never notice I was here." She flicked her eyes at her ball of spiders in the corner, and they grumpily started to march up the wall. "Besides, you'd never have another bug problem."
Moving onto the other outburst, she waggled her feet in the air behind her and plopped her chin into her hands. "I doubt the sports bra's are needed. You have less than an A cup, I'm sure." Another blink, and she pursed her lips. "I can't complain about the jeans though. That cut could make anyone's butt look great." She blinked at her spiders, calling for them to pause, and got them to skitter about until they spelled the words. 'Some pig. Then she blinked at Gawain again. "Brownie points if you can guess where that's from."
For example, she didn't get the urge to smother people who snored in the shower. While he asked her how she liked the place so far, she sat up and got to her feet, hopping down to throw herself on the other bed. Another thing she didn't like sharing, Beds. "What's not to like?" She questioned back. "You've got a kitchen, many places to lounge, TV, and a garden with pitfalls and deathtraps."
Her eyes shifted his way, and she smirked. "Not to mention cross dressing students." She sighed happily, and rolled over onto her back, tucking her arms under her head. Unfortunatly, she had a place to stay already. Complete with a very entertaining roommate.
"All I need to do is find a dark corner and make a nest." She raised a hand and casually pointed into a corner. "I think I like that one."
She pulled a face at the mention of the girl getting her cookies back, and plopped back to stare at the ceiling. "Boy, this bed sure is comfy." She snuggled in, and turned her eyes his way- she was much to lazy to turn her head long with. "The kid doesn't know i'm a mutant, so your little school here is safe from lawsuits and getting egged by scout troops. " It was the truth, for once. She hand't needed to shed any spiders in order to run off with a cart full of cookies and a set of clothes... She had needed a neatly set up rope trap though, in order to get a flailing kicking girl to hand over her things. The spider queen felt an odd moment of deep reflection at her own actions, but then it passed. Like heartburn.
"Do you take your spiders to the shower with you?..."
Her mass of spiders in the courner grumbled silently amongst themselves, and she grinned. "Gotta wash them somehow, otherwise you'd have lots of little muddy footprints all over your walls." She glanced at the shivering pile of spiders. Poor things... "Of course, they don't actually shower with me." She shot a catty glance his way, and winked. "I only shower with people."
With a grin fixed in place, she caught the clothes and held they out at arms length for an inspection. Not bad, a little plain for her tastes, but it was better than the muddy mess she was currently decked out in. She shrugged, giving him no response as to whether she would still be there or not when he got back, and waited for him to leave the room- surprisingly Via a Mirror, before she stood and sauntered her way into the bathroom. One short, much appreciated shower later (because she felt totally comfortable using his facilities) she exited in the new clothing and tucked the muddy bunch in itself. The bundle was plopped on the floor next to the door after she made sure it wouldn't leave a stain on the floor.
Megan plopped onto what she assumed was his bed, seeing as there were two, and crossed her legs in front of her as she ran her fingers through her hair. Her eyes scanned the furniture, and landed on the dresser he had rifled though. With a small whistle, she called her now clean spiders from the bathroom, all of which were not happy at all with being forcibly removed from her hair with help from shower water. They grumped their way around the room, exploring, and Megan's eyes fell on the dresser again. The urge was too great... She wanted to rifle through it too! even more so since he had told her not to ask... Standing swiftly, she moved over to the dressed, opened the drawer he had been in, and had herself a look around.
One short whistle later, she plopped herself back down on the bed and re-crossed her legs. Either the kid was a collector of women's clothing and other things, or he liked to wear them himself... She squinted, and ordered her underlings to search the room for high heels and wigs. She glanced at the opposite bed, and her grin turned cheeky. Maybe the kid wasn't a pervert or a dragster at all, maybe he shared the room with a member of the fairer sex. Maybe a giiiirlfriend. Oh, she'd have to tease him relentlessly. Continuing to comb her hair, she turned her attention back to the mirror, and pondered what kind of power would allow one to just... disappear... into it.
Turning, Megan grinned at him. "What? I thought I made a cute Girl Scout... Plus I would whoop some real butt at knot tying and rope making."
She plucked at the stolen badge sash, and squinted at one of the small circular badges. Starting fires was badge worthy? That was good to know... Winding her thread around her hand, she flicked the last bit of goopy mud from one shoe and turned back around. "Well, I suppose a change would be good. But you'll have to make sure that kid is gone..." She frowned, and rubbed at her shin with a foot.
"She's got one hell of a kick." Snorting, she started following the line back out, wondering how long it would take to get mud out of her hair. There was also the lingering thought of what she would have done if the role had been reversed, and if the boy had fallen in instead. A peek over her shoulder showed him getting to his feet. She probably would have thrown rocks at him and gloated... and then helped him up..... maybe.
Watching a dinosaur scribble in dirt was highly amusing, even more so than it was awkward. She blinked, and tilted her flashlight down, eyeballing the crude writing as it was being written. "Girl. Your a girl. Awesome." Men were to fickle. She blinked, at the second part, Amber, and looked up to the dino briefly. "Amber huh?" The the last part, and Megan smiled a foxes smile. "I'm Charolette." She stated, and glanced at the girls menacing claws. "I'd shake your hand, but it looks like I would lose mine in the process."
Next the girl scribbled down an answer to her second question, and Megan squinted. She was here for bones? What, was she building a dino skeleton back home in her closet? "Bones huh?" At least she hadn't run into the girl in a graveward. Then she asked why Megan herself was here, and she felt her smile shift into a grin. "I'm here for the amber, Amber. Spiders, that is."
She spied the small creatures skittering to and fro behind her, catching night critters haistily, and whistled. They knew what the call was, and scrambled back to her with fangs imbbedded in prey of all types. Moths, crickets, other spiders. One greedy little thing came back dragging a small lizard with it. Megan laughed, and stooped to pick up the eager spider. "I am here... in hopes of getting my hands on a really really old arachnid. The Trigonotarbida."
"... bored... bored bored bored...." Her foot waggled restlessly. Pretty much all of the remaining children were back, and she was still waiting. Her eyes dropped to her right shoulder, where a small spider filled bump was nearly ready to pop, and blinked. It was a runt of the litter, seeing as its brothers had hatched more than a few moments ago. She resisted the urge to poke at it with a finger, and turned her attention to the coffee show door as it opened. Out waltzed the insect man, and
Megan cocked an eyebrow at his approach. The other eyebrow joined a second later. Miss? Since when had she been a miss?... and what was with that voice? Dropping her brows back down to their normal position- flat and more than a little relaxed- and shrugged her shoulders. "Who wants to know exactly?" She asked, folding her hands behind her head as an obviously staring couple walked on past.
"Further more, why do you care?" He was obviously a mutant... that or he had been a wee roachy once, and had fallen into nuclear waste and mutated from there. Such an odd fellow, he, she found her curiosity spiked... (even though her inner voice was screaming at her to RUN! RUUUN!) She had never been very good at listening...
She blinked at the bug, and uncrossed her legs, scooting aside to pat the empty bench space at her side. She clasped her hands behind her head, elbows pointed up at the sky, and recrossed her legs. The movement of her shoulder caused the small red dot to burst, and tiny black legs helped to pull the spider out. It shook itself off, turned to blink up at roach, then skittered down and across her chest to hide in the shadow under her armpit. Newly born spider did not like giant omnivore at her side, apparently.
The slack in her rope disappeared, and she felt it begin to inch up the wall. She wrapped it around her wrist securly, and tugged on her legs. he was strong, she'd give him that. He had already pulled her up a good two inches from the muck. It was her feet she would have problems with. The strain on the rope began to show, as it gradually stopped pulling her up and instead started to simplt streatch topside. "Sonova-" Gritting her teeth, she wriggled a little and got a few inches higher, she could feel her shoes getting sucked off under the mud, and fought with her toes to keep them on.
As Gawain kept pulling, and Megan kept wriggling, she felt the mud finally starting to give way, until one huge Squelch later she was free. Free! "Ha ha! Take that mother nature!" She kicked at the muck on her way up, and once she was able to grabbed ahold of the edge and scrambled her way up. "Well..." Planting her bum a safe distance away from the edge, she kicked some clinging mud from her shoes and wipes it off of her front. "That was lovely."
The small spiders that had gathered around the pit skittered her way, climbing up her back to retreat once more into her hair. The one that had travled with Gawain didn't however... It Sat at her side and stared at her until she looked at it, then pointed one leg gawain's way. "Fine fine." Turning to glance over her shoulder, she let the spider still hiding in her mouth crawl out to return to its favored earlobe, and blew a few strands of muddy hair from her eyes. "Guess I owe you one now, don't I?" She blinked, and swept herself to her feet, treading carefully around the pit to pick up her silken life like again. "Are you okay?" She called back to him, ober her shoulder.
