The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Andrea flushed a little at the compliment. The little wink and comment went completely over her head, instead sending her off on a mental excursion through the various times she and Saphirus had hung around each other. He was a little rough around the edges, sure, and he had the mouth of a sailor at times.
... and he could be rather childish...
But he was sweet, caring, and sensitive all of the rest of the time. He meant well, even if it came in a slightly sour package sometimes, and she was aware of that. Her blush darkened and she fought down nervous giggles, until he started talking again. The realization that she had misunderstood him, even in such a slight way, set her cheeks ablaze. She really was going to have to think before speaking more often, or at least put a little more thought into her words.
"Oh... w-well, it is nice to know that you won't be changing anytime soon." The Greek attempted to cover up her embarrassment with a friendly smile, which was really more tooth than smile these days, and nodded when he pointed out the cafe. It was exactly then, before she could cover her tracks with some sort of comment about the appearance of the place, that her stomach decided to growl. Loudly. A nervous bubble of a giggle tumbled out from her, and she placed a hand over her tummy.
"...It... It appears that I am rather peckish... " She followed him inside, since she had no experience with the place. The immediate decor that greeted her reminded her of a place she had been to a few times... and she thought back on the fond memories. "... It is very beautiful in here.... Are you sure they won't mind us?"
It was nice, and though she wasn't really worried, old habits were hard to kill off. The thought of being turned away for any obvious mutations was always present at the back of her mind, and between the two of them there were a lot (A lot!) of visible mutations. Sloth slipped around of her shoulders, long pink tongue flicking out to taste the air, and she found herself licking her lips without her having thought to...
Her eyebrows raised, but she followed his directions as best she could. She stilled, back straight and dainty in her chair, then gave her sucked a little toss in the air. (If a little begrudgingly) Maybe it was a magic trick? or... he was going to show her some super cool skill that he had?
A second later, and her lolli was gone. The Greek blinked, glanced down, then up, before she realized it wasn't in sticky pieces on the floor. She also realized that he had suddenly switched sides on her, and... what was that delicious smell? It took her a moment to put it all together. And hey! He had her candy!
"That... was... SOCOOL!" She had only ever seen people use powers like that on TV, or in books. "You are like... superhero!" Her own excitement overrode a touch of grumpiness from him stealing her sucker, and she clasped her hands before her chest and turned on her chair to face him.
"Can you do it again? Maybe..." She turned and eyed the room around her. A few kids were chatting, most looked confused or a little distressed, but one kid in particular stood out. A big fella sitting alone in a corner, with a finger firmly jammed up his nose.
Her own nose wrinkled at the sight, but she grinned and leaned in again, lowering her voice and pointing with a discreet finger. "...Would you switch with him?"
Buttercup? Andrea tilted her head. Who was Buttercup? ...Wasn't that some type of flower? A suspicious frown settled on her lips, as she was starting to think that maybe everyone was crazy in America.
...Then again, she had woken up standing in the middle of a market, surrounded by adults, in very large clothes... and there was a black hole where her memories should have been. How had she even gotten to the states? She had tried to think back, wondering if someone has snagged her from the back yard or something, but she honestly couldn't even remember what it was she been doing before that mean boy had hurt her.
After a few moments of quiet contemplation, listening and nodding her head like a good girl, she came to the conclusion that she should trust whoever this Buttercup person was. "Cars..? " She started to question, before realizing that he had asked her a question. Also, why was he blushing? Had something embarrassing been said? Oh no! Had she missed something and inadvertently upset him with her ignorance?!
The Greek blushed right back at the boy, and nodded her head enthusiastically. "Of course I would like to!" What child her age would turn down a mysterious offer like that? Maybe it was candy! With that thought, she popped her lolli back into her mouth, and tried her best not to wiggle impatiently in her seat.
Her time spent with the nice man who had promised to help her, if she helped him, had ended abruptly. He had simply run off too fast for her to keep up with him! With a sniffle she had wandered around for the better part of an hour, too afraid to ask another stranger for help, until a kindly looking cop had approached her.
...and now she was here.
Sitting with her legs swinging under her, changed into clothing that was proper for a girl her age, sucking on a lollipop that someone had given her. It was green apple, yum! The young Greek has more or less ignored the rest of the kids, not really knowing how she was supposed to interact with them, until one made the first move. A boy happened over, shot her the silliest grin, and inquired as to if she made regular trips to the police station.
...She had to admit, it confused her a great deal. Why would someone, who didn't work here, want to stop by on a regular basis? ...She supposed that maybe people dropped in to chat, or check up on a loved one, but that hardly seemed like the type of thing a girl her age would do... Maybe he thought she had family here? She blinked, realized she was staring slightly, and corrected herself.
"...I..um.. no, I do not come here often at all... This is the first time I have ever been in a police station." Her accent, though thick, was at least understandable now. After explaining her story in a mouthful of sentences to the man who had picked her up, she was feeling more and more relaxed with her English as time ticked by. She attempted a timid smile back, flushing slightly from the awkwardness of the situation. How was one supposed to talk to a boy when a parent figure wasn't present?
"...Are...are you like them?" She questioned, pointing her finger at the other children in the room. "... I have been told that they are, um... what is the word... different? Are supposed to be older?" She eyed him from behind her over-sized glasses, and fiddled with her candy. She had been provided smaller gloves to wear, after it was discovered that she shouldn't touch things with her bare hands. Like the snakes, it was a newly discovered problem. Orange eyes darted around for a second, as shifty as shifty could get, before she leaned toward him a little and blocked her mouth from view with a hand.
"They told me I am supposed to be adult.. I think they are confused." She whispered, in a hushed, childish manner. Though she didn't know what the case of the other kids was, she was almost 100% certain that she did not belong in it. Clearly, she was simply lost... very, very far from home. Somehow.
“You know…it’s funny. I actually visit the Mansion quite a lot. The guidance counselor there is the woman I told you about, who I am dating. I’m surprised I didn’t run into you sooner,”
She grinned, and took the offered cookie, swinging her feet gently as she sat up. "Well... I have only recently returned, and I spent most of the time in bed, recovering from.. well, their return." She pointed up at the wiggling snakes in her hair, just as Sloth managed to flip himself over one of her shoulders.
"I have not even had much time to wander around yet, which is probably why I have not noticed you there either. Though, it is nice to know that we will no longer hand to meet each other in parks or hospitals."
It also helped that the idea of having a friend she could trust so close to her would hopefully help with the nightmares she had been suffering through. "I hope to have everything worked out soon, so that I will be able to join the community once again. I have been a shut in for far too long." Popping the cookie into her mouth, she raised her eyes to the sky and mused to herself for a moment. "I suppose I should also try and contact my parents. They are probably worried sick about me, after so long without speaking to them.."
Then again, her mother had stopped sending her emails... so maybe they weren't? It was entirely possible that they figured she was safe and sound, since she had last told them about her time at the mansion... and a little about Saph. She dearly hoped that was the case. Smiling brightly, she licked her lips clean of cookie crumbs, and re-folded her hands in her lap.
"I will probably run into you a lot more now... This is the first time I have been out of Saphirus' room in three days."
They started moving again... but now he was babbling... and she couldn't figure out about what. She stared at him for a moment before dragging her eyes away.
...At the right time, apparently, because OHHOLYHECKTHEYWEREHEADEDFORATREE! The Greek latched onto her seat and the car door, and braced herself with foot up on the dash. It wasn't the smartest thing to do, mind you seeing as if they had crashed she would have most definitely broken her leg... but, considering her lack of experience with cars and crashes, she did it anyway.
He corrected the direction the car was going with a screech and the turning of the steering wheel, and those cars that were behind him decided to stay a safe distance away from them from then on.
She almost didn't even want to ask what that had been about... Maybe she was distracting him with all of the talking? Or her questions... probably the questions. She decided, once she was able to calm her rapidly beating heart and peel herself out of her brace for impact, that she would sit quietly until they got to the Mall...
"Ah-ah- uhm. y... you are? Well, I just figured you would want to...uhm... take it a- at your own pace is all... You know... Um... Yeah. You don't mean... you want to speed things up?"
She blinked at him, lips parted slightly, hand still on his. The car wasn't going anywhere, and the light was green. She had seen arguments start for less on New York streets."Why wouldn't I want to speed things up? We are never going to get anywhere going slow like this." She grinned, turning her head to glance back through car at the few cars behind them, before wiggling back into her seat. "Besides... life moves too fast nowadays to take anything slow."
Someone honked way back in line, and she wrinkled her nose at sound.
"I would love it if you taught me... I have always wondered how these things work, but I have never been given the opportunity to try it out." She fiddled with her seat belt and giggled. "...You know, since I've been by myself for so long..." She hadn't known anyone at the Sanctuary who drove, well, save for Jorge. ... but she hadn't been in the right mind to ask him anything about his car.
She tilted her head at the stick he was talking about, and blinked. "What's a stick? What does it do?" After watching him shift it around a few times, she got the idea. "Oh!.. It is like the... um... transmission thing, right?" Her knowledge of how cars worked was painful, at best... but she liked learning things at least.
The Greek wiggled in her seat until she could place her hand on top of his, and just watched.
"I've been in a few relationships... I dunno, though... I suppose at this stage it's mainly about getting to know each other, and spending time together. No pressure or anything..."
She blinked again, and fixed her eyes on him. "Pressure? What pressure?" What a silly thing to say, she liked spending time with him, and talking to him hardly left her feeling pressured into anything. "I am more than willing to get to know you better, you should know that."
She grinned, attempting not to hinder him shifting the car at all as she went back to staring at how the gear shift thingy worked.
She resisted the urge to ask what 'Whack a Mole' was, and instead returned to looking at her tickets. After a while, and with some encouraging, she smiled. Maybe it would be fun, even if she didn't know what any of the games were.
The nudge only made her blush worse. She did manage to offset it with a giggle, though. "Oh, yes... He is a very sweet man, he recently joined the Xmen.."
Her giggle intensified for a moment, as she tucked her tickets away safely. "I met him years ago... He took me to my first ever fourth of July fireworks show as a birthday present."
She could still smell sulfur sometimes, if she thought on it really hard. "I recently moved back to the Mansion, that school for mutants... and he took me out on a.. a date." Her smile widened, and she chuckled.
"It is my very first relationship... It is... strange, yet very exciting."
Well, exciting was an understatement, really. Exhilarating, terrifying, fulfilling... There were many words to describe how she felt, and yet, they still didn't seem like enough. "He is the kindest, sweetest, silliest man I have ever met..." Considering all of the things he had done, from keeping her pig for her, to actively going out to try and find her, she was kind of understating that as well.
She smiled back, if a little timidly. It was hard to talk about such thing, and his willingness to let the topic change spoke volumes about him to her. "One of these days you should. He has been very helpful... I am sure you two would get long superbly."
As the car bumped along, she settled into her seat. Getting a phone would be helpful... and it would lay some of her fears to rest. At least, when it came to her time spent without Saph around.
"I think that sounds wonderful." A smile once again overtook her lips and she reached out to snag one of his hands. "You know... I had never dreamed of being in any sort of relationship... and I must admit, I really do not know what to do... I have seen people hold hands, and kiss sometimes.. as well as other things, but they do not seem like the types of things that should not be done in public places..."
The thoughts and images in her head made her blush slightly, and she cleared her throat.
Her attention turned back to Saph, got captured momentarily by protesting of his car, and then went back to easier things... like the questions he angled her way.
"Jorge and Kaitlyn? They are both absolutely darling." She smiled to herself, reflecting on fond memories, and folded her hands in her lap."I met Kaitlyn at the Sanctuary... She is just darling. The nicest girl I have met since coming here." She thought about it for a moment, their many meetings and the ice cream that had been involved, and grinned.
"I met Jorge when--" She paused, recalling the specifics of the first time that had met, and paled. Uh.. perhaps she shouldn't tell him about the awful men and guns.. and all of that stuff. "....um... when I was at the mall and I lost my phone. Sloth got attached to a bench and wouldn't let go... and mall security wanted me to leave. He's an officer, so he was able to help me out..."
It was a memory she could laugh at now, after some time had passed. Unfortunately, it also brought up the last time she had met him, which left her feeling a little sour.
"...He... He was also at the hospital after the attack. He sat with me for a very long while... just to make sure I was okay..."
Saph's explanation of the car earned him a grin and a few giggles, on top of the giggling she was already doing from being reminded of their actual boyfriend/girlfriend status. "Oh, stop it and get in."
She climbed in her side, shutting her squeaky door with a bang, and started to buckle herself into her seat. "...I do need a new phone... you notice that? ... I lost the old one you bought me... funnily enough, that last time I was at a mall." She thought back to that day, and winced. "I am really glad Kaitlyn showed me how to tuck the snakes back, or else I would fear another incident happening.. though, it wasn't all that bad after Jorge showed up." She mentioned it offhandedly, without really thinking about it.
Much like the next thing that came out of her mouth. "I have a job, Saphirus. I work at this place called Faust Pharmaceuticals as a receptionist... I have barely even been able to get situated there though... and i really should call in, I think I was supposed to work yesterday..."
A thoughtful, slightly worried expression settled on her face, and she turned to gaze out the window of the car.
She was caught off guard for a moment... Girlfriend? He wanted to be her boyfriend?
... and then she started giggling. Her blush refused to go away, and she suddenly couldn't stop laughing, and if it weren't for him holding onto her hand she probably would have fallen over.
The absurdity of it all, that she would have confessed her love for him before either of them had even thought to ask the other out. It was almost too much.
...Almost. "You bet I do!" With a happy, glee filled giggle, she launched herself at him with enough force to knock the two of them to the ground. Picnic supplies flew everywhere, ketchup, mustard, and pie galore! She rolled to the side, sporting new bits of cookie and bread in her hair and on her clothes, and grinned at the man.
Then, as everything stilled and she felt the pain of a mustard bottle digging into her ribs, she leaned in and kissed him lightly on the lips.
