The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

As Emma walked with her new potential friend, she enjoyed the conversation and learning new things about him. She laughed as he mentioned crossing that off of her never list and agreed with him about the news, "I watch the news sometimes, but not religiously. I think that it does sometimes women more on edge and paranoid. There are some really good guys out there who just wanna talk to them."
Emma walked down the street toward the nearest shopping district. It wouldn't be too much longer before they found a shop that sold both shoes and clothes together. At the inquiry about the price of houses on the market, Emma said, "Actually some houses aren't priced too badly and there are places were the rent isn't terrible either. There are some though that are pretty outrageous. Some places even just have a room that they want to rent out so they can have help paying the bills. You may not sleep, but wouldn't you want somewhere to call your own? Though I'm puzzled as to how you don't sleep. Do you have insomnia?"
Emma laughed at his statement saying, "One pair of footprints maybe, but they surely would think it would have been more fun had it been two pair of footprints. And I do get to see quite a lot of New York, which is why I can help you find something probably in your price range. I haven't been here very long, but I like living here for the most part. I still don't enjoy the cold. It can go to hell."

Emma watched as Jack sniffed and tried the soda, which ended in a sputter. Emma quickly grabbed a paper towel as she saw that Jack was reaching for something to wipe her mouth with. After which, Jack explained how her mutation had made sodas not so pleasant for her. It hadn't crossed Emma's mind to realize soda would be really harsh on someone who hadn't drank one in a really long time. "Are you okay? I can imagine how yucky that would be. I forget how abrasive the carbonation can be. Do you wanna finish your soda or would you rather have some water or tea?", Emma asked, wanting to be a good hostess.
Jack had picked spaghetti to eat. Emma was kind of happy because this gave her the opportunity to showcase her Mom's homemade tomato sauce recipe. Emma smiled and then started to get all the ingredients and spices for the sauce rounded up onto the counter. She got the tomato products put into the pot and added garlic, lots of italian seasoning, season all, parsley, and a little extra oregano. She stirred it all together and placed it on a medium low setting on the stove. "Would you like a meat sauce, meatballs, or a vegetarian sauce?", Emma asked Jack. She wanted to make sure that what she cooked would be something Jack would eat and didn't want to offend her if she was vegetarian.
Emma listened to Jack's interest and when asked about hers, Emma responded with, "I like to exercise too. I go for runs and yoga in the park frequently. And I also workout in a gym not too far from here. I like to go work the bag and keep my kickboxing skills fresh. And I'll do some strength training too. I like to listen to music, read and watch movies too. Maybe we can go see a movie together sometime."
Emma hoped that Jack would agree to see her again after today. She really enjoyed having her around and finding out new things about her. It was kind of nice to not always be alone.

Emma chuckled, having never heard someone actually take that saying and put it into practice before. People didn't become friends like that anymore. There was usually some sort of commonality that drew people together to become friends, like a dance or college class, work, book club, regulars at a night club. That sort of thing. You didn't just bump into someone and, boom, become friends. But, nevertheless, Emma was willing to try. It's not like she had anything to lose. And he seemed relatively normal and harmless.
"Sure, I guess that's how the saying goes. I've just never known anyone to use it in their everyday activities.", Emma said, "Also, people usually aren't very trusting now a days. So you'll have to give it some time, but we can certainly try."
Then Erik explained that he had just gotten into town and had no house yet. That reminded Emma quite a bit of her time hopping from town to town with her Mom when they were trying to get away from her Dad. Maybe he stayed at a local hotel or had friends here. "So where are you staying til you find a house? With a friend? Or at a hotel around the city? I work in real estate so I could probably help you find somewhere when you're ready."
Emma was quite glad that he had decided to take her advice to wear the shoes despite being wet. He did take the insoles out and squeeze the excess water out of those before storing them in his backpack. Emma didn't know how comfortable that was going to be, but at least he wasn't barefoot. He asked her to walk with him. "Sure, I can help you find a store since you're new around town. Do you want just a shoe store or one that sells clothes as well?"
Emma got up from the fountain and started to walk towards an exit from the park and back out into the streets. As she was doing so, Erik said the weirdest thing. Why would she mind wet footprint? She laughed and curiously asked Erik, "Why would I care about wet footprints? Do you think we'll be followed and they'll use the wet footprints to track us?"

Emma smiled and laughed at Erik's joke about the unstuck landing. She went and sat next to the young man on the fountain, but unbeknownst to her, he suddenly stripped his shirt off. Emma smirked and indeed admired the upper half of his body. He was very pretty to look at, but couldn't be older than twenty, maybe.
He started wringing his shirt out. Well, you couldn't exactly get all the water out while wearing it. He dried off a bit more and handed the towel back. Emma took it back and placed it in her bag. Emma didn't like the cold so much, but she could deal with it when need be. But as for colder water than what was in the fountain right now? No thank you. That splash had been quite enough. She didn't wanna even imagine that.
Then Erik said that he wouldn't mind being friends with her, which was pretty puzzling. He was nice, but could she really trust him enough to be friends? She would have to spend more time with him to really know for sure, but she doubted she would see him again after the interaction they were having now. "You sure do seem to be mighty trusting to go ahead and call me friend, Erik. My name's Emma."
She watched as he took his socks off and wrung them out, but then said he'd go barefoot. Emma remembered how uncomfortable it was for Jack to walk the streets barefooted just trying to get to Emma's apartment. Jack had only stepped on a bottle cap and hadn't cut her foot thankfully. But there was the possibility of stepping on glass or sharp pieces of aluminum. Way too many things to consider even walking barefoot in New York. Emma would much rather deal with squishy shoes for a little while. "You're quite brave to walk around here barefooted like that. You could cut your foot on something. It can't be too much of a walk to your house for dry clothes that you couldn't deal with wet shoes until then, right?"

Emma stood there and watched as the dog not far in front of her slowly shifted into a tall, stark naked gargoyle like man. Emma didn't have time to contemplate running away before she saw the lady whose power she had copied suddenly walking up to them.
"Great.", Emma thought, "I was hoping she had gone back to sleep. I didn't think she's stay awake and watch my every move. Let's hope she doesn't decide to claw my face off or whap me with her tail." Emma was slightly paralyzed. She couldn't get her legs to move and steer her away. "So you're not really a dog or were you?", Emma asked.
Emma really wanted to leave, but she struggled. She wanted to know if her mutation had changed to include animals. Maybe she could find out later. This was a mistake. She needed to leave. Why had she thought that was a good thing to do? "I'm sorry.", Emma said as she started to leave. "I'm so stupid. I should've never done that. There's too many people around and both of them are probably pissed. Please don't come after me.", she mumbled to herself as she was walking away.
Emma hated having her mutation sometimes. She loved it cuz it could be helpful in defending herself at times when needed or if she needed to help someone. Sometimes people actually kind of loved it, but then there were times like now when she had to try work out if something new happened and she would have to pass a mutation on to someone to test it, of sorts. That had been a really nice dog and he hadn't done anything to her. Emma was slightly conflicted and it was times like these where she tried to keep her mutation to herself.

Emma was just about finished reading the couple pages of her book when she suddenly hear a noise as she glanced up to see a young man cartwheeling into the fountain and a dog nearby with a frisbee in his mouth. Emma couldn't help but laugh as she saw the event that had occurred. She did get splashed a little, but it was no where near as soaked as the young man was.
Emma wiped her book off on her pants and wiped the slashed water from her face and arm. To his inquiry about wetting her and her book. Emma responded with a chuckle, "Not so bad that it can't be wiped dry. But I'd definitely give you a score of 7 out of 10 on that cartwheel."
Emma stood up and moved over a bit as the young man sloshed out of the fountain. She asked him, "Are you okay? I'm sure that water must have been pretty chilly. Did you happen to have a change of clothes with you in the bag? Hopefully they didn't get wet."
Emma looked in her bag and thankfully she had a towel in there for when she worked out and forgotten she had left it in there. She handed the towel to the young man. "You might need this to help dry off a bit. Your friends over there didn't come to check on you?", Emma said.

Emma was taking a break sitting at the fountains in the park. It had been another beautiful day off from the real estate office and Emma seemed to have a fondness for the park, despite all the things that had happened there when she was around. At least the park was big enough that you felt like you could disappear in it for a while and not see people that you know or people that know you.
Emma had came to the park earlier in the day and had finished up her daily jogging and yoga. Now she was just gonna spend a few hours walking around and really enjoying the park. She loved the fountains and found it really peaceful to sit and hear the water flowing. Along with her yoga mat, Emma also brought a bag with her water bottle, keys, a trashy romance novel, and just a little bit of spending money for one of the many vendors in the park in case she got hungry.
Emma had only been sitting at the fountains for a few minutes, catching her breath and sipping on her water. She took her book out, cracked it open to where it was marked, and started reading. It was getting to the really good part, where the main female character realized she didn't really love her fiance, but instead really loved her maid of honor and only came to realize this while they were getting ready before the wedding was to start. After this realization, the female character and maid of honor started to passionately kiss and then...well, you get the picture.
Emma was excitedly reading the story and yet was hoping Jack wouldn't judge her for her taste in novels, if she ever found out. Emma was very fond of Jack and eagerly awaiting the chance to ask her out. She had to prove to Jack that she did like her for being her and not just for what she looked like as a human. Even though Jack being human for that short while did give her some very fond memories to keep. Emma smiled and bit her lip slightly as she reflected on the activities that occur that day.
After revisiting those memories, Emma went back to reading and was now enthralled in the drama ensuing after the two women's romance. She would be finished with the book in a just a short while and would then have to figure out what to do next in the park.

Emma continued to wail on the bag as she started to really get into her workout and routine punches and kicks she knew well and ones she needed to practice. She didn't pay much attention to anything else going on in the gym at the time. She ducked and weaved to simulate an actual opponent and to keep herself quick on her feet. She didn't even notice the young sapphire-eyed beauty watching her from the bench or even as she walked up to the bag Emma was using. She focus was solely on the bag.
That is, until she heard the younger lady speak. Emma stepped out from around the bag, taking care to not get hit from it. As she steppes around, she saw a beautiful lady standing there and smiling at her. It was the same lady that Emma had noticed earlier at the bag 3 down from where they were now.
Emma blushed slightly, but it wouldn't be super noticable due to the flush on Emma's face from working out. She didn't realize that someone had been watching her. Let alone the attention coming from such a beautiful young woman. Emma smiled back at the young woman and said, "Thanks. I didn't realize anyone was watching me. Yeah, I was kickboxing. You were working that bag over pretty well yourself earlier. What's your fighting style?"
Emma bent down and grabbed her bag (which was close by), took a towel out, and wiped her face and neck. She grabbed her water bottle out and took a good drink of water. Her breathing heavy from the intense workout. She turned to look at the younger woman as she stood back up saying "I'm Emma by the way." Emma stood there with towel still around her neck and drinking water. She tried to rest and control her breathing. She wouldn't let the other lady know that part of that was nerves. You couldn't stand there talking to someone as hot as the younger lady and not have some flutter of nervousness going on.

Emma waited for a few minutes to see if anyone cam to claim the dog. When no one did, Emma became curious. She didn't know what kind of reaction this would get her, but she had to figure out if her mutation was being wonky or if something had changed. She knew she could bestow to humans and mutants, but this was a dog and her hand tingled. Was he a mutant dog? Could animals even get mutations like that?
Emma smiled at the golden retriever. She gave him a few more belly rubs and scratched behind his ears. He was so adorable that she almost didn't wanna do what she was pondering, but there was really only one way to find out. Emma petted the goldie in front of her and said softly, "Well, here goes nothing. I've gotta figure it out one way or another. Can I bestow to animals too or are you just a wolf in sheep's clothing? Don't hate me if you're the latter. "Emma then took a few steps back away from the dog and held her hands out towards him. She concentrated and focused on what she was trying to do. She then felt a mutation leave her hands and bestowed the dog.
What was going to happen next? Emma would have to stay tuned and wait to see what the result of all of this would be. Hopefully it wouldn't end in an uproar or mass panic. Even if it did, she could run. She was pretty fast and could fight if need be.

Emma finally had the time to find the gym that Blaine had written down for her. She walked into the Golden Eagle Gym and thought about where she wanted to start working out first. When she used to work out at the gym back in Washington, she would usually start with the punching bags, but today she thought about starting with the weights.
Thankfully, the light weights were not too far from the bags. She wouldn't have far to go to start her next workout. She sat down at a bench and started curling a 15 lb hand weight. She took turns doing repetitions on each arm. She wanted something sort of light to start with so she could get a good start to her workout. She finished her arms and then started doing some body squats to work her legs out. Maybe she would use the leg machine and go for heavier weights a little later.
Another thing she was starting to really dig about this gym was their music. She didn't have grab her Ipod from her bag. She started to bob her head a bit to the music as she did the squats, mentally keeping track of how many she had done.
There were quite a few people in the gym she noticed. She watched and saw what other workouts people were doing. Naturally, her eyes wandered to the area with all the punching bags. She saw one chick really wailing on the bag and then saw her walk to her bag. She noticed that her clothes were pretty tight and that she was very pretty, but she wasn't gonna go out of her way to bother anyone today. Unless of course, she could find someone to spar with.
Emma finally got done with her body squats. She grabbed her bag and walked over to an unoccupied bag. She dropped her bag on the floor nearby and was 3 bags down from the other chick. She started her normal routine. She practiced punches, knees, and kicks mostly. Every now and then, she landed some elbows.
The bag only helped so much. She needed to find a sparring partner. Nothing was better than working yourself out in a real ring where you reacted to someone else's moves and blows. She hoped that she and Blaine could meet sometime soon and lightly spar or he could coach her or something. She continued working the bag over. Punch, punch, and for good measure, went for what would be a head kick.

Emma was taking sips from her water bottle when suddenly she noticed that someone had spoken behind her and then was holding a blade to her neck.
Emma's heart started to beat quickly, but she tried her best to breath calmly and take it easy. She didn't want to react to soon and risk injury or death. She hadn't ever needed to use her kickboxing skills to defend herself before, but knew she had those skills in case she got into a better position. Ya know, without having a blade at her throat. She could maybe wait and kick whoever's ass this was later.
And then came the answer for why she was even being bothered...She wanted money. Emma calmly sat there on the bench as still as she could and said, "Well, honey I hate to break it to you, but have you seen how tight these close are? I don't have damn thing on me, but an Ipod, phone and keys. No money on me at the moment. I would maybe carry some on me in my bra if I don't have pockets, but I knew I was gonna be getting pretty sweaty and that's kinda gross."
Emma waited for other person's next move and hoped she wasn't gonna get stabbed. Maybe she could do something soon to create a distraction. She did still have Jack's mutation she could bestow, but she didn't wanna move too quickly or spring surprise in the situation currently. The edge of that blade was certainly sharp and she could feel it rub slightly against the skin of her neck. Was she starting to bleed?

Emma grabbed a Citrus Crush from the fridge and handed it to Jack. Emma grabbed a Cola Coca for herself and popped the can opened. She took a swig from the can and then start looking in the fridge and pantry for ingredients to make something for dinner.
"Well, I have lots of things I can cook for you, Jack. I have stuff for homemade pizza, lasagna, or spaghetti. I could make some hot wings to try. And I have some chicken, fish, or steak and lots of different veggies to accompany them, if you wanted like a salad, some sauteed or steamed. Does any of this sound like something you'd like?", Emma asked Jack and smiled.
Emma loved food and loved cooking, now that she had gotten better at it. Plus, if Emma was gonna date Jack, she would have to know what kinds of food Jack liked to eat, as a human or not. And Emma didn't want to offend Jack someday if they were to go out and Emma took her to a place where they served food she couldn't eat. That would probably break Emma's heart.
As Emma stood there with Jack at the counter in the kitchen, Emma started to think of ways to get to know Jack better. "So what kind of things do you like to do for fun? Ya know, when you aren't meeting a hot blonde in the subway on a rainy day.", Emma smirked and eyed Jack, playfully.

Emma smiled and thanked the gargoyle lady. She had, in fact, not seen where the girlfriend had walked off to. Just that she had left. She hadn't kept watch on them that closely and was doing several stretches which had her bending and twisting around quite a bit.
Emma looked over in the direction that the gargoyle lady had directed and laughed slightly embarrassed as she said, "Wow, I feel so stupid. I didn't even see it over there. I guess I must have overlooked it. I get kinda anxious when I'm somewhere new, but thank you so much for your help. And I hope someone does come along."
Emma then waved goodbye and started to walk over to the indicated water fountain. She smiled and thought about how cool that mutation was, still kind of envious and pondering what flying would feel like. As she approached the fountain and was filling her bottle up, she noticed a golden retriever with what looked like a back pack strapped to his back. She sported a confused look on her face for a moment, but then thought that maybe he was a guide dog or something. She looked back over to the dog after she was finished with the fountain, but noticed no owner was around or near him. Maybe they had gone to the bathroom? But surely, the dog would have went with them in case they needed something or help.
Emma slowly walked over in the direction of the dog. She wondered if he was friendly and stuck her hand out slightly as she got closer to him so he/she could smell her. But as she got closer to him, her hand started to tingle. "That's weird. That normally only happens around people with mutations. Is he even really a dog?", Emma thought to herself.
She kneeled down close to him and since he seemed friendly, she started to pet him. He rolled over and she started giving him belly rubs. She rested her hand on his tummy for a moment and the tingling in her hand stopped. "You're so friendly and cute. Do you have an owner around here, boy?", she said, playfully.

Emma could suddenly tell that she had woken up. She didn't stir, but she could tell the slight tense when she realized someone was touching her. Emma said quietly, "I'm sorry to bother you, but I wanted to ask if you knew where the nearest water fountain was. My bottle is getting low and it's my first time every being in this park. I'm kinda lost trying to find my way around here."
Emma hoped that she hadn't made the gargoyle like lady upset. She didn't wanna deal with confrontation and cause a scene. She paused for a moment to see how the lady would react. "I saw you and your lady friend earlier while I was doing yoga. Ya'll are very cute together. I hope I can find a girl like that to spend my days with."
Emma smiled and tried to be charming. She could only imagine what it was like to be a mutant with visible aspects. Her wings though were totally awesome. Emma could only imagine what it would feel like to fly in the air. It was probably so cool. In that respect, Emma was just a little jealous of the gargoyle lady and how their mutations were different. Sonetimes she wished her mutation was a bit more useful to her, instead of just something to pass from person to person.
