The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Celeste gave a little clap. Yes! That would be perfect. That excitement had her imagination go wild with ideas about the danger room - what would it simulate? Do they let you know or do they just throw it on you? So many questions... But for another time.
>> "A... friend of mine decided that if she had been Maleficent, she would have won the story. And she set out to prove it. I ended up wearing butterfly wings or some sh*t. And we traumatized a movie matinee full of children. It was an accident... but I don't think I'll ever live it down."
Oh, yikes. That was a lot more dark than she had anticipated. Probably shouldn't have pushed him on that one... "Oh, I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have pried it out of you." Friend decides to go literally full evil. Butterfly wings on him would probably be cute, though. But a movie full of kids? Super yikes... Probably lots of pissy parents. "But hey, I'm sure you looked adorable with butterfly wings."
>> "I have places I can hide a body if you tell about this to anyone."
She made a hand motion of zipping her lips and then threw the key away. His secret was safe with her. She felt like she needed to say something so they were on equal terms with... Secrets. "When my powers first manifested and I actually didn't have a lot control, I made an entire classroom full of kids sick." She shrugged, "I had to transfer to a different school. Accidents happen, it's how we learn from them that ultimately matters. Also, no one else besides the people involved know about that, so, uh, yeah, you have dirt on me now too. We can't blackmail each other." She laughed.
What a way to start her school year. Celeste was a good student - she was in line to be valedictorian at her old high school, she had lots of friends. Granted, she didn't have any close friends or friends she'd really trust... But she did have regular friends. She didn't seem to have any enemies back at her old high school, either. Maybe they just kept to themselves? Either way, she already had an arch nemesis at this Xavier's. Well, maybe arch nemesis is a bit of an exaggeration. But Celeste was not about to let this little girl walk over her.
A poor guy that was sitting in-between Celeste and Mariah decided he had enough and excused himself to the bathroom. Celeste honestly wasn't sure if he was going to come back - but it left her open to Mariah. She glared over and Mariah gave her an evil smile back. Celeste rolled her eyes and looked back towards Mr. Holloway.
But this Marian or whatever girl was seriously getting on her nerves and fast. Celeste was already nervous because she sucked at art. She wanted to get really good grades this semester - after all, this semester is really what will solidify her ability to go to NYU in January. If her grades drop, she won't be accepted. Celeste had plenty of room for it to drop, though, but she just didn't want it to drop at all. Celeste took her grades seriously. Hopefully, Celeste could just avoid her... That's what your suppose to do with bullies, right? Don't react!
... Until she felt a wad of gum hit her on the cheek, which made her let out a small squeak. Did she really chew gum and then throw it on her? That was taking it too far. It almost landed in her hair - then what? Gum out of hair is a painful, sad experience. Celeste quickly grabbed it and threw it on the floor and took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. Luckily, she had a bottle of hand sanitizer in her purse that she pulled out. After lathering her hands in it, she debated on throwing some in the girls eyes but her mind talked her out of it - again. Mariah whispered, "what, rad girl? Rad girl don't like gum?"
She smiled when Mr. Holloway looked back over, although her face clearly showed frustration but she nodded. Something about using guidelines and being symmetrical. Perfect. If the light through the window hit right, someone could probably make out a couple specks of white around her arm - not enough to be very noticeable (and barely enough to even pick up on a Geiger counter), at least not to stupid teenagers. Celeste's patience with this girl was almost over. She couldn't even focus on the class because of her - and Celeste was serious about her education, even if she would probably never use art again in her life.
Celeste giggled as Jude talked down the hallway to Doc Prof and shook her head, "He seems like a sweet guy. Plus, he seems like he cares, too. Also, nothing wrong with pushing two people to a little kiss." She shrugged. He fixed people's bodies, she was sure he probably helped mend hearts every now and then too. Or maybe the guidance counselor helped more with that? She shrugged. She didn't hear Doc Prof make a come back so either he didn't hear him, he didn't bother replying, or she didn't hear Doc Prof. She imagined she'd probably have plenty of embarrassing conversation with Doc Prof when he actually examined her anyways. Doctors tended to be freaked out over her - unsure if they're safe or not. Completely understandable, but Doc Prof seemed like he didn't care that much. Well, he did want a rad suit, so he was prepared for starters. Surprisingly, doctors typically don't have radiation suits. Maybe that isn't that surprising...
The outside air was still warm. The climate here was pretty enjoyable - it got pretty cold in Regina fairly quickly, seeming to skip the autumn sometimes. The continental of being in the upper middle of the North American continent. The weather here was a nice change. Warm weather, soft breezes, beautiful ocean. The smell of cut grass at the Mansion. It had nothing to do with the cute guy hanging out with her. No wayyy.
>> "We weren't even dating. She probably wasn't even interested."
She arched an eyebrow and her face flushed and she muttered, "Well, I was the one that asked you to ice cream..." Not that she was saying it was a date or anything. If someone wasn't interested, it was probably him. She wasn't exactly sure if he would hear her or not but either way, she made her point. He probably could at least piece together what she had said. Not to mention her fumbled wording of it not being a date, but a 'friends gathering.' It was literally two of them. It was a friend gathering, not a friends gathering. And what the heck is a friends gathering anyways? Clearly, she had wanted it to be a date but it just seemed to soon - they had just met, after all. But in the movies, don't they always just bump into each other, knock some coffee over, and then boom there on a date somewhere? It just seemed like they had a crazy connection - especially considering their history. She realized she probably shouldn't compare their situation to a movie after the fact.
>> "I do have work, but I can make time. I have some flexibility in my hours, especially since just about anything is closer than here. "I also have some latitude because I helped heal my boss out of the hospital recently. I needed him to sign papers."
She grinned and shook her head, "Tsk, tsk. So long as I don't get you in any trouble." She laughed when he waggled his fingers at her and then stepped through the gate once it opened. "Well, someone has to sign the paychecks, right?"
>> "To the bus stop! What borough are you in? We could find an ice cream spot somewhere between you and me."
Good question. She was pretty sure she was in Brooklyn, since her and Norma's apartment were very close to the airport. Annoyingly close to the airport. She sighed, "Um, I live near the La Guardia airport, so I think it's Brooklyn. I don't much about the city yet, to be honest."
Celeste was in art class. Art class. Celeste may have a bunch of talents, but art itself is not one. She could make a mean, cute stick figure though. Actual art though? Definitely not her forte. She did her best to take notes as her teacher, Mr. Holloway, demonstrated on the board the best way to draw faces. How to make eyes symmetrical with artsy stuff, how far the nose should be compared to the mouth and eyebrow arch, all those little pieces that go into drawing.
Why faces? Because he was going to pair them up randomly later in the class & have them actually draw each other's portraits. Boy, whoever had her as a partner was going to feel pretty bad about their portrait from her. She couldn't draw to save her own life. She really hoped Mr. Holloway graded by effort and not by artistic abilities - otherwise, she might just be here for one class next semester. Eek.
On the plus side, Celeste had put her hair up in a different way today. She wanted to try something new, especially for art class. Could hair styling be considered her art projects? Not to mention her outfit for today turned out pretty cute, too.
It was also the beginning of her last semester of high school... Yet, she had already made a few enemies in the school. How? She really had no idea. Celeste thought she was relatively nice, sweet, and easily to get along with. She wasn't even sure how they found out about her power, but apparently radiation wasn't something they liked very well. She grumbled to herself about that little piece - she really wanted to give them a good dose of some radiation, maybe make them appreciate it a little more. Too bad she couldn't do enough to make people lose their hair. That would be priceless.
But Celeste calmed herself. There was no reason to stoop to a bullies level - no matter how much they got on her nerves. But if they called her 'rad girl' one more time... So help her, God. She glared towards her. She wasn't even sure what her name was? Maria? Marian? Probably Marian. Marian sounds kinda like a jerk faces name. The girl stuck her tongue out at Celeste, literally in the middle of class. Of course, they were only one person apart, so that didn't help matters. If only they weren't in the middle... If they were in the back, she could totally sneak a little rads into her. Make her miserable through the class.
Okay, Celeste. Now was not the time to want to kill this person. She needed to focus on Mr. Holloway and learn as much as she could - heaven knows she was going to need it. With that, she began to try to to keep notes as Mr. Holloway talked. She even tried to mimic his drawings. Unsurprisingly, it didn't go very well. Celeste sighed.
Once she got comfy on the seat, she let out a long stretch and a yawn. Hopefully this pizza wouldn't make her even more tired. Either way, it was going to be delicious and she couldn't wait to get it into her mouth. It had been a while since she last had pizza - actually, the last time was in Regina. She screwed the cap off her Coca-Cola and took a big gulp of it. Ahh. Cold and fresh. She didn't realize how thirsty she was until now.
Celeste enjoyed the moment. She looked over the break room again. She kinda felt like she belonged here. She was just a volunteer that the library would eventually replace though. She nodded at his comment, "Yeah, we make a pretty good team honestly. I think we did a pretty great job, good time." It wasn't the first time she had helped re-shelve books but it never changed - tedious, hard work.
>> ”Eh, breathing is overrated, I hear.”
She laughed, then nodded. "You're right. It is overrated." She shrugged playfully, leaned back in her chair, and took another sip of her Coca-Cola. She was definitely bringing surgical masks next time though. She was not about to be as unprepared as she was today for this. This library is huge and has a lot of dust. At least they hadn't ran into any critters, like spiders. She shivered a little at the thought of taking a book off the shelve and have a big spider jump on her. Yikes.
>> ”Alrighty...so did you give it any thought? A secret that you’d be willing to share?”
She paused. Well, he remembered there little dare. She guessed it was time to spill a bean, any bean she had. What secret would she share with him? She didn't want to say anything too personal because he might think differently of her, but on the same note, what fun is daring secrets if you don't say spill something interesting? She had racked up quite a few secrets over the past few months... Her mutation would be intense, yet not too intense. She didn't think Booker was a bigot or anything, after all. So... Here goes.
"Well... I'm a mutant. Radiation. I'm actually going to join the Xavier's school soon, for my last semester of high school." She paused, not wanting to go any further without being able to read his reaction. Technically, that was two secrets she spilled too. Oops. People either thought it was kinda cool, were terrified, or didn't really understand what she meant. Hopefully, he wouldn't care. Otherwise, she had just blown their entire friendship. She cleared her throat, "But what about yours?"
She smirked as she remembered her escapade into the nuclear power point. She was honestly really lucky she didn't get caught. Not to mention the whole it's a felony to be unauthorized on nuclear power plants. 'Light trespassing,' more like very serious, bad consequences trespassing.
>> "Well... we're here to help with the issues."
She smiled warmly and nodded, "Yep... That's why I came here. I want to be able to do more with it, maybe something more... Beneficial than just giving people radiation poisoning." It wasn't that it wasn't fun to give people radiation poisoning every now and then. It was more that she was never in the circumstances to do it to someone who deserved it - like criminals.
She arched a brow and leaned in as he muttered. Sleeping... Beauty...? "Sleeping beauty?!" She grinned, "How did you manage to fall into it? Also... Was it at the beginning or towards the middle? I feel like there was some good spots and some pretty bad spots in that one..." No wonder he didn't want to talk about it, actually. Sleeping Beauty probably wasn't the best movie to fall into. There was definitely better, more exciting movies than that. But she was a Disney fan, so... So conflicting.
>> "I feel like I should start capitalizing on that power..."
She laughed, "Hopping into movies? I sure would. It'd be a nice escape every now and then from the grime of the real world."
His reactions to her powers was well enough, even though he didn't seem to understand it completely. Well, she didn't really understand them either. She could control them but she didn't really understand the underlying mechanics. Come to think of it, it would be a little weird to get poked and prodded by Doc Prof. She was use to doctors wearing radiation suits around her, but they never really looked into it - it was get her basic and then out, out, out. Which, really, was fine with Celeste.
Celeste nodded. It was pretty crazy. But everything happens for a reason, right? At least that is what she always tells herself.
>> "Pretty sure no one has ever said that about me before. Ever."
She giggled, "Well, consider it a first. Maybe someone has but you just weren't listening," she teased. Worst case, he was a strong person. There's no argument about that, at least from what he had told her about his... situations.
>> "Well, there's one big easy way to avoid it: don't join the X-men. Simple as that. I wanted to help people. Seems like I should eb able to, right? They do that sometimes at great personal cost and a few heart attack moments. That's supposedly what I was learning out there. I guess I kinda did? Anyway, it's not all celebrity brunches and movie deals. There's a reason why we have DocProf..."
She nodded, a bit more serious. She wouldn't say no but she definitely wouldn't say yes. She had never really thought about it until their earlier conversation. She wouldn't mind to help them out in certain situations, but she wasn't attached to the X-Men in any serious way. She was here to finish school, hone her powers, and then probably move on. Maybe still help out of the school after she graduated. At least if they let her, anyways. "Very fair points."
Celeste chuckled at their exchange, but she wasn't prepared for the sassy mhmm from DocProf. It took a second, but it hit Celeste that she had presumed that Jude would be coming back with her... To the doctor? That was kinda weird. Oh well, it'd be a fun to find out how a human nuclear rod functioned without breaking out in massive cancer. Speaking of work, though, she furrowed her brow, "Wait, don't you have to work today? Do you have time for ice cream and stuff?"
>> "Yeah, it's ice cream time. Uh. Would it be totally lame to take the bus into town? Our other option is to steal a car from the garage and drive without a license."
She shrugged, a big grin across her face, "I'm trying to avoid getting expelled before my first day of classes. Of course... Doc Prof just stopped that idea..." She chuckled and gave a smirk. She didn't really like buses but she tolerated them. At least she wouldn't be alone on a smelly bus. "To the bus stop!"
Back through the hallways and back to the grand entrance. What a day today was turning out to be!
Celeste hated crowds but this was going to be worth enduring the what seemed like thousands of people. Or at least, she hoped it would be worth it. It seemed like it based off his speech and her previous research of him. Hmm, actually, hopefully he didn't think she was a total creep or anything. It didn't seem like he did - but she didn't really know him, so he could just be really great at being nice.
Introductions complete! First part of the mission was a success. She noticed his smile at her rambling, which made her feel a lot less nervous. At least he could relate to her in some way, thought it was endearing, or funny, or anything besides just crazy, random, ditsy blonde girl.
>> “I can now or we can find some time we’re both free. Did you want to talk now? We can take a walk if you prefer, especially if you prefer a more private venue.”
She nodded and gave him a smile, "Do you mind a walk? It helps keep my gears turning in my head." Wow. Did she really just say that? She shook her head to herself. Welp, he probably definitely thought she was some crazy, ditsy blonde girl now. It wasn't that she didn't mind if individuals heard their conversation but she wanted him to be honest with her. Sometimes crowds can make people feel like they need to sugarcoat things, exaggerate, or whatever.
Once they began to walk away from the crowd, she decided she would begin her interrogation. "So, I think my biggest question is about humanity and mutantcy. What's your personal opinion on the power struggle going on? do you think we'll actually become egalitarian, everyone treated equal or do you think one group will end up dominating the other? Do you think there will be more... Advanced forms of the META bots show up from more 'mysterious' donors? Anyways, most importantly, how do you feel about the current relation between mutants and humans?" She realized she was probably asking too many questions, too quickly so she began to slow down. They weren't even out of the stadium yet and she had already bombarded him. So much for her initial reasoning behind taking a walk.
Being from Canada and only now being exposed to META bots and deep culture between mutants and humans, she was a bit in the dark. She needed to know as much as she could regarding the situations in the cities.
Celeste had probably been a little too forthright in her power admissions to Gawain. He had seemed a little iffy about it when she first brought it up and he seemed to have some type of opinion about it now. She wasn't entirely sure if it was good or if it was bad, but hey, he didn't seem to freak out like most people do. AH, radiation, oh nooo. That was nice, at least.
>>"Wow. You're not making a career in landscaping, are ya."
A quick grin slipped across her lips and she began to giggle, "I mean, I can make some excellent, realistic pieces of 'Apocalyptic Wasteland, Death of the Plants'." Poor plants.
>> "You... absorbed a nuclear plant?!"
Celeste shook her head, "Oh no, no, I mean, I absorbed some of the radiation from it. It probably made them worry about their computers for a second, but it didn't eliminate it or get rid of it or anything." Honestly, she wasn't sure what would happen if she had absorbed all the radiation from the nuclear plant. Meltdown? Probably not... No radiation, right? But maybe no power going out of it? Who knew. Science stuff that Celeste didn't really know anything about. She sighed, "There is some pretty heavy limits, even for me."
>> "Soooo... very, very powerful mutant. Good to know. Welcome to school. And I thought I was showing off with the movies..."
She chuckled quietly, "I'm not that powerful. Plenty of issues with it," she shrugged. "Thanks though! I'm excited to be here. And don't think I'm going to let you off the hook for my other question! What movie did you get trapped into?" She grinned at him.
Celeste nearly squeaked when Gawain said he went into a Disney movie. She hadn't even thought about Disney movies. "SO, uh, Disney movie? Which one? Cinderella? Did you help Prince Charming and her get together?" Whew, she needed to calm down. If they ever trained together, she definitely was going to beg to go into some of her favorite movies and shows. Grey's Anatomy, she nearly jumped in excitement at the thought, or Star Wars. Or whatever other movies she liked.
Gender shifting seemed fun, too though, but Celeste just couldn't get over all the possibilities of being inside a darn movie.
>> "You did help wash my giant wolfhound, so. Ask away. But, talking about questions... I'm curious about your own powers. How did you... dunno, learn to manage them?"
She giggled, "True." That was an interesting feat they had accomplished earlier. Her own powers? Most people were terrified about them. Radiation tended to freak people out, even though her powers didn't seem to ever do any lasting harm to anyone. It was a fair question though. "Well, I learned how to release it in flares through my arms or through my entire body. I practiced on plants, flowers and weeds and the like." She smirked, she felt kinda bad for them. "Pretty much they tested it out with a Geiger counter. Would see how much I could charge it, the least amount, however much came out. If it made them sick or not." She started turning red, "I didn't find out about the whole absorbing radiation until later - I realized that when I was around objects that typically emit some type of radiation, like microwaves, the radiation part seemed to drop extensively." She really wished she hadn't lost her Geiger counter, honestly. "So, I ended up sneaking into a nuclear power plant and got near the reactors. Watched the Geiger counter drop as I began to absorb it into me." She shrugged, "It even made me a bit sick for a little bit, but everything turned to normal the next day."
She sighed, "So, to sum up, I pretty much just shot rads at helpless plants with a Geiger counter beside them. Also, some slight trespassing."
Celeste nodded. Gotta get the computer stuff programmed. That made sense.
Celeste was so surprised about going into movies & T.V. shows. She could only imagine hopping into different shows that she liked.
>> "Anything on a screen, really. And yeah, the story changes if I make enough of a fuss. I found out by accident, I thought I was walking into another mirror..."
Celeste chuckled, "That had to been a bit of a surprise. One minute you think you're going into a mirror, next you're in a horror movie with chainsaws chasing you or something." That would be an awesome power to have but it was a good thing Celeste didn't have it - she would totally just hop in movies and stay there for forever.
>> "Yes, and no. I shift at midnight every night. Today I'm a guy, tomorrow I'm a girl. Maya is my girl name."
She nodded. It had to be a bit scary to hop into the mirror and maybe never be able to get out. It gave Celeste some goosebumps. She imagined herself beating against the glass, begging to get out but forever trapped. But gender shifting, uncontrollably. That was pretty interesting in its own right. One day a guy, next a girl. "Maya is a really pretty name!"
Celeste realized, albeit lately, that she had bombarded the poor guy with questions so she decided she should probably calm down on throwing so many questions randomly out to him. "Sorry for all the questions."
>> "Honestly, I'd be afraid to practice anywhere outside the Danger Room until I had some answers. Radiation is some pretty scary stuff, uh, but maybe because I don't really understand it, you know?"
She giggled quietly. It was a bit amusing to Celeste how he tried to spin that comment. People tended to get freaked out, scared, or feel some type of way about her mutation. It was a reasonable assumption - radiation isn't a safe thing to be around, after all. "It doesn't seem like it leaves any permanent damage, at least from what I can tell. Unless, you know, it kills first. I don't have enough power to actually kill someone. I can make them really sick for a little bit, but that's about it." She shrugged. "It's really good at stopping someone in their tracks, though. Not to mention, it's kinda pretty too. Sparkles on my arms."
Celeste was pretty upset over the treatment of Jude. There really wasn't any excuses, at least in Celestinas mind, that someone should be subject to that kind of situation. It honestly made her pretty pissed off at the idea of a teacher doing something like that. Jude seemed to be at least okay with the situation - he saw the good in it and that was the first step in anything.
>> "That was after I got shoved out of a plane too. But, honestly, I wouldn't have had the guts to strike out on my own if I hadn't had such a terrible time and nothing helps you make up your mind like a couple weeks of walking."
Really, that shouldn't have surprised Celeste considering he got left in the wilderness in Canada and had to trek back. Celeste shook her head, "You're going to have to give me more details later about this stuff because this is just crazy." Celeste just couldn't get over it. She respected that he learned from it though. She nodded, "That's good... I mean, sometimes it does take a pretty traumatic event to kinda push you over the edge. To give you that strength that you need to just get on with your life." Her breaking point was when her sister asked her why her parents would always keep them separated. Not nearly as how brave or dangerous as Jude's story. She scoffed playfully for a minute, "You're definitely the brave one here." She meant that. She couldn't imagine being shoved off a plane or trekking from Canada back to NY. She got on a bus and hoped for the best.
>> "Look. I don't want my bad experience to impede what might be a cool thing for you. I guess... keep an open mind in classes and stuff?"
Celeste gave him a warm smile, "I won't. I'm open to most things so long as it's reasonable. It's just insane what happened to you. If they expect me to do any crazy stuff like that, no way Jose." She shook her head. She was not about to go out into some wilderness, living with the forest, bugs, and bears and golly knows what else. Celeste liked civilization and she intended to stay in it. She gave Jude a quiet "thank you" when he opened the door for her - what a gentleman.
Celestina chuckled at their exchange - no hellos, nothing, just 'high five.' Made sense, really. Jude was coming to nab his powers, Doc Prof was fine giving it to him. Celeste wasn't ready for the sudden introduction and the Q&A Jude thrusted on her. She gave a timid wave to Doc Prof, "Hi, yes, nice to meet you, Doc Prof. Ummm... So... I have a mutation which is basically radiation. So, my insides are all full of it, I can release it and absorb it, that kinda fun stuff. I was wondering how it'd effect everything inside." She motioned around her stomach to emphasize her point. "So I did have a few questions regarding it, but" she glanced over to Jude, "I can come back another time when we have more time and stuff."
OIe' Doc Prof nodded and listened intently. He rubbed his chin with his hand, "Well, first things first I gotta get my rad suit out. Make sure it'll still fit me. Come back later today or in a few days and we can see what's going on in there." He glanced over to Jude, "I only have one suit that would fit probably only me, so you'd have to wait outside if you come back with her. To be on the safe side. Anyways, is that all? Bye now."
Celeste gave a smile, "Thanks, Doc Prof." She turned her attention back to Jude, "Well... Now that that's out of the way... You have his powers now..?" She presumed the transfer happened when they high fived. Pretty awesome way of transferring powers, honestly.
She grinned, "Awe, you're only just a hair older than me." That was good. He wasn't 17 or anything, which was nice. It probably made him comfortable knowing she was 18, too. The whole 18-17 got into some sketchy lines sometimes, at least when it came to governments it seemed. She giggled, "Happy belated birthday."
She gave him a timid grin and she laughed, "Hey, don't judge me too much, I've only practiced on plants and it was... depressing, to say the least. Anything has to be better than that. Preferably without having to kill a bunch of plants..." Hopefully, at least. That was how she learned to control her powers - she focused on weeds and flowers. One time, she focused on her mother's garden in retribution to how she was treating her. When her mother saw her radioactive wasteland of dead plants, she was furious. At least it elicited a reaction out of her though. A pretty bad month for Celeste, to say the least.
She watched as they walked, she saw the mansion getting bigger and bigger until they were pretty much at the back porch.
Celeste wasn't really prepared for that. She arched her eyebrow, her face became very serious. He took him to Canada for a survival thing? What kind of school was this, actually? That was really jacked up. Then he walked back here from Canada? That had to be a journey, a fairly terrible journey honestly. Did he have any money? His IDs? No wonder he didn't have good opinions about the group. Celeste didn't really know the circumstances but there was no excuse to bring a kid into the middle of nowhere and then expect them to just live.
"That... Is insane." She had to think about what to say next because she was fairly surprised. She was expecting work, or exploring, or anything but getting sent into the wilderness for a 'test'? This wasn't Boy Scouts and it sure didn't seem like a reasonable test, at least in our time frame. The school literally had a holographic danger room, simulating environments for that type of stuff. "Just wow... That's really jacked up, pretty disgusting, honestly... I hope he did, too. That wasn't right." She really wasn't sure what else to say about it, "But I'm glad you made it back safely." That was the important thing, though. He didn't get physically harmed at least.
She walked up onto the back porch and started to open the door to go into the Mansion, before pausing to wait for Jude. Looks like things definitely weren't exactly what they seemed at the school.
>> "Hard light constructs with holograms. Feels real, but there is less debris to clean up after."
She grinned. Nothing more exciting than holograms. Plus, less debris to pick up afterwards is always good. Less work the better... Or something. She couldn't wait to be in it one day, presuming she ever had the chance. "Sounds pretty exciting, honestly. Would hologram things interact with radiation...?" She wasn't entirely sure if it would pick up on her powers or not.
>> "I teleport through reflecting surfaces... like mirrors. I can walk into movies... oh, and I'm a gender shifter."
Celeste was pretty surprised at his powers. Teleportation through mirrors, walking into movies, gender shifting - hold on, he can walk into movies? Like any movies? What about TV shows? She paused, an eye brow arched, "Wait... You can go into movies?" She asked, her face clearly showing surprise and awe. "Like... What about T.V. shows? Can you go into them? Does it change the movie or are you just one of the characters, forced to follow along?" So many questions, not enough time. Mirrors and gender though, "Wow. Mirrors. Ever worried you'll get stuck in one? Does the gender shifting happen at will?"
Celeste was taken aback from our crazy the headmaster's office was. After the initial shock though, it turned out to be quite funny. Celeste even started giggling a little at the scene that unfolded. Although, she was a bit worried that someone might get hurt over the Roomba with a knife running around... But that wasn't exactly her problem, so she shrugged to herself. It was weird but it was funny. The school wouldn't have as much prestige if it wasn't an incredible school.
Celeste waited patiently as Ruddy looked for the enrolling paperwork as she went to get the table and pull it over under the table. Celeste grimaced when she saw Ruddy press down on the table that Juliette was holding. That wasn't... The best thing to do. Poor Juliette, hopefully it didn't weigh too much.
>> "Alright, so I think I remember how this works. You sign in each place that it tells you to, and then I’ll sign it all later. Or have a clone sign it once I track one down."
After she put the table under the table, she gave a nod to Juliette. She realized how heavy it was once she saw Juliette shaking her hand out. Yikes. Ruddy mind must be in a lot of places at once, actually. Celeste arched her brow at his statement. He thinks this is how it goes? Celeste couldn't help but chuckle quietly. She hoped he knew how it went but uh, Celeste definitely trusted Juliette more than Ruddy in this situation so she wasn't too worried about the situation. Juliette seemed like a smart woman who knew what she was doing - Ruddy just seemed like he had lost some of his marbles. Which if he made clones of himself, maybe he kinda had?
>> "They’re always running away, just like DJ Roomba. So sad. After that, we can get you enrolled in some classes! Who doesn’t love classes?”
She nodded at the instructions given by Ruddy and glanced towards Juliette to see if she could confirm. She did give a sympathetic smile to Ruddy, though. It was kinda sad that all his clones and his Roomba ran away from him but if they had any feelings like her, she couldn't really blame them. It seemed a bit dangerous to be around him too long. Poor guy, though. She gave him a smile, "Yeah! Classes!" She was pretty excited to be signing up for her classes. Right in time, too.
>> ”Don’t feel pressured into anything, though. These are totally your decisions to make. Even if I teach one mean health class.”
She grinned towards Juliette. Celeste was definitely going to sign up for her mean health class, for sure. She began to sign and initial were required on the form and hoped she didn't miss any. Once completed, she looked over the class list and started checking off based on what was required to finish her high school diploma & what would help her out most.
She ended up checking off:
Health, Math, Biology/Botany, Art, and Home Economics. That should keep her real busy. She looked over to Juliette with an arched brow, seeing if she would confirm that this was her best route or if there was different set of classes she needed to take.
