The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Juka glowed, proud of himself and his genius idea. No one else, surely, could have come up with something of such obvious brilliance. He preened, imminently pleased with himself and knew that, surely, everyone else would reconize him for all of his many amazing talents.
"I come from Seattle and Tokyo," Juka answered Shana. "And Tokyo really is a wonderful place, my dear. Perhaps one day you will have the good fortune to see its wonders in person." He smiled at her.
"And as for the danger room," Juka turned to beam at Tetsuyo, "that is an absolutely wonderful idea." He had no idea what exactly a "danger room" was and really hoped that it wasn't actually as dangerous as it sounded, but minor worries aside it sounded like a positively exciting opportunity. "If your not afraid that is," Juka added, in a self assured tone.
Everything regarding the conversation of the girl that made it flew right over Juka's head without a notice or a comment. He was far too distracted by the strange girl with the pink aura in front of him and far too intent on his mission to find himself kitties. Not to mention the skunk which he could still not quite bring himself to trust fully. He did, however, manage to notice when he was introduced (he had a tendency to notice his own name even when he noticed nothing else) and went down on one knee, reaching out for the girl's hand in order to kiss it in regal fashion.
Juka watched Aura's display of her power in fascination and clapped exuberantly when she was finished. He wasn't really sure about the drill, that looked to be rather dangerous and he wasn't the kind of person to be violent (make love not war as they say) but the rest of it he found simply enthralling. But, never one to be outshined, he decided to do a little demonstration of his own, pausing only briefly to remember the promise he had made earlier to Jewel about no powers. But, they were, the three of them, alone in this little alleyway so he didn't think it would be a problem and he vowed to himself that he wouldn't use them at all once they left.
In a moment Juka bubbled himself and floated off the ground a few feet. Then, in a moment of inspiration, he bubbled the fearful little skunk. It could hardly spray him if it was stuck in a bubble, after all. Floating a few more feet off the ground, he rotated the tendril with the bubble at the end and the skunk inside around the outside of his main bubble. And then he returned to the ground, certain to deposit the skunk far away from himself, unbubbled and took a bow.
"As for how I discovered my powers," Juka said, grinning, "it was kind of by chance. I was alone and suddenly I was floating. In a bubble no less." He giggled in remembrance. It was a little more complicated than that but he didn't feel like remembering that time in his life. "Now, I believe we have some kitties to hunt," he announced, preparing to exit the alley and set off in search of kittens. And of food, of course.
Juka stared at the Ghost that didn't look like Ghost. Now he was certain that she was acting strange. More strange, even, then he would expect of someone who had been trapped in another person's body. "Ghost, honey, are you doing ok? Should we maybe find you a doctor?" His voice held a note of deep concern and uncertainty. She was supposed to be his knight, not the other way around. How could he be expected to help her if she had gone crazy when he couldn't' even see properly to help himself?
"My apartment?" Juka asked. Strangely he hadn't even thought of going to his apartment. But then, what would be there for him anyway? He lived alone, there was no one there to help him. Unless, he realized suddenly, the demon who had stolen his body might be there! "The foul creature who stole my beautiful perfect body is sure to be at my apartment! We have to find him and force him to return what is rightfully mine!"
And then he realized the impracticality of such an endeavor. He didn't appear to have any powers other than this strange sight and he couldn't even bubble himself or anything else for that matter. And what if that foul demon had stolen his body because he coveted not only his physical perfection but also his precious bubbles? How could he defeat such a creature. He could have let depression take him again, right then and there, but then yet another idea occurred to him (he seemed to be full of them today).
"I have it!" Juka declared dramatically. "We go to the mansion and recruit an army then we march to my apartment and destroy the infernal creature who has stolen my body and force him to give it back to me. Its the only thing we can do." A pause. "Then we can go and get yours back too, as soon as mine is returned." It was the perfect plan, he decided. Get his body back, destroy the foul beast who had taken it, and then get Ghost the help she needed.
Juka enjoyed Venus' small caresses on his leg and saw no reason to hide the fact. While not too obvious about it, had there been anyone watching,t he way he moved and reacted made it apparent that he had no desire for Venus to stop what he was doing.
Despite the fact that the hotel was obviously high class, only fitting for the two of them, Juka barely payed it any attention. His eyes were only on Venus and everything else paled in comparison. He gave a polite nod to the valet, not even bothering with his usual dramatics and peacock struts. Tonight wasn't the night for such things.
Juka allowed himself to be led into the lobby, being led like proper nobility. He felt a little like a princess on the night of her betrothal to her prince.
Juka was positively delighted when Venus named him by his proper name, not only because it seemed that his musical exploits had reached much farther then he could have ever expected, but also because it was his much revered partner for the night that was the one to know him by name. He smiled adoringly.
As Juka allowed himself to be led out of the club, he ran his fingers lightly along Venus' arm. He noticed, fleetingly, jealous eyes on the two of them as they made their exit. Well, it was only right that they should be jealous, mere mortals that they were compared to the virtual perfection of both himself and his partner. They saw the two of them and knew that they looked on divinity. But none of that really mattered, not tonight.
Juka enjoyed the car ride to the hotel room, choosing to remain mostly silent, simply watching Venus as he drove. This would be a night for him to remember, he was certain of it. He had never met anyone quite like Venus before and, quite rightly, believed he never would again. This night would be theirs and theirs alone and he was determined to make everything of it.
Juka continued to blink confusedly at Ghost for another few moments, until she mentioned her name. That much got through to him, a familiar name from someone who had helped him in the past. She was nice to him and that meant she would hopefully be able to help him. But...was she in a different body too or was that just a trick of his weird new vision? "Ghosty?" he asked, his voice quiet and a little unsure. "It's not Luke. I don't know a Luke. Its Juka. Apparently trapped in Luke's body." As if that explained everything.
And then Ghost said she could get him to the Mansion and Juka hugged her most exuberantly. "You really are my knight in shining armor," he informed her magnimoniously. Things were going to be ok now. Ghost was here to help him and she was going to lead him to the Mansion and they were going to find out what was wrong and get his body back. And her body back too. And the world would go back to the way it was supposed to be.
Even as relieved as Juka was to have had Ghost find him he couldn't help but notice that she didn't quite seem to be herself, even not counting the fact that she didn't seem to be in her own body. She seemed more confused and indecisive than he remembered her being before. Not that he knew her that well, so perhaps she was just having a bad day or something. Yes, that had to be it.
"People are mean," Juka agreed with a despondent pout, but it only lasted a moment. Ghost had come to save him so there really was no more reason to worry, now was there? Shrugging his shoulders he followed her, though he was careful to keep a hand on her shoulder for balance. This sight really was strange but it seemed to serve his purpose and he simply knew that he would have his own body back in no time, maybe even in a few short hours. He started humming happily under his breath.
Juka smiled up at his large red dance partner as he asked if he was leaving so soon. He very much enjoyed the fact that he did have to look up to meet his eyes, something that was rather uncommon given his own height and his tendency to wear heels. There was something delightfully exotic about him, something Juka had never seen in anyone else and he couldn't help but feel more than a slight attraction to it.
"I will follow you to the ends of the earth and back again," Juka replied softly. While the words were said in typical dramatic fashion, their tone was wholly tender and honest and for this night he meant the words even if tomorrow night he would return to his usual life of dramatics and flirting. He would never be the type to dedicate himself to a single individual, but for this night only he would do so.
"I do not believe I have gotten your name." His voice was slightly breathy and he moved his body closer to that of his partner's, eliminating what small space remained between them. By now the attention of the others was completely irrelevant, allt hat concerned Juka was the attention of the god before him.
Juka thought he would die of despair before anyone took pity on him and agreed to help. Person after person simply walked by, paying no attention to the poor shirtless man on the side of the road and eventually he stopped asking for help all together. How could things have gone so horribly horribly wrong? How could he have found himself in another body, one entirely not his own? Who could have done such a thing? What had he done to make the world hate him so? His thoughts spun in horrible, agonize self-deprecating circles, each thought worse than the last.
When he heard the name "Luke" called out more or less in Juka's direction, he looked around for whoever this 'Luke' person might be although he didn't see anyone else but him, forlorn and abandoned on his street corner. Belatedly he realized that, perhaps, he was now look. It was someone else's body, after all, and logic suggested that this someone else probably had a name just as he had a name. And thinking of his name and the fact that someone was probably, even now, running around the city doing god only knew what to his body, set off a new wave of spinning depressive thoughts.
And then the stranger ran up and gave Juka a hug, before he even had a chance to react. He froze for a moment, startled, then hugged her back and started babbling frantically, not paying any attention to what she was saying about a walking cane or being a mutant in public.
"Oh you wonderful beautiful person, you have come to rescue me." Faint hints of his Japanese accent and a slight feminine lilt to his words remained, despite the deeper voice. "Oh its positively horrible what's happened, I woke up and my body was gone, horribly snatched by some jealous worshiper I'm sure, and I found myself in this dreadful body that doesn't even see properly. Oh, and I can't even see colors or street signs and I'm hopelessly lost and I need to find my way to The Mansion and I don't know where it is and oh you simply must help me!"
Finally Juka paused, his voice panicked. "Please?" It came out small and meek. Then, belatedly, he registered the reference to the cane. He hadn't even thought to look for a cane and he supposed this person must know whoever's body (Luke's?) that he currently inhabited.
Juka was fascinated when he touched the pink aura and found it to be smooth and solid, so different from his own bubble. Had the appearance of the skunk not so dearly terrified him at his unexpected appearance he would have stood there studying it further. It was with some relief that he saw that neither his friend nor the pink aurad stranger seemed afraid of the skunk so, cautiously, he dismissed his bubble and landed softly back upon the ground. "Nice skunky?" he asked cautiously.
Juka suddenly became aware that the stranger was talking to him and, rightfully so, complimenting him. He preened and all but puffed up at the compliment, making and exaggerated curtsy. "It can hardly be considered my fault that both myself and my bubbles are the most beautiful things for miles around," he stated, dramatic as always. "And you, my sweet one, have a beautiful power all your own. What a gorgeous shade of pink that is. And you dance my dear? That is positively wonderful." He grinned, not having the faintest realization that she wasn't speaking of dancing in the sense that he was most familiar with.
"You like cats?" Juka asked excitedly at the stranger's mention of not being able to tell the skunk apart from a cat. He wasn't too sure about that (and still didn't quite trust the thing) but if there was one thing he knew it was that cats were the best creatures ever. They were every bit as beautiful and elegant as he; surely they had been created just to keep him worthy company? "Then you are in luck, my dear, for we are going in search of kittens for me as we speak. I am certain that you must join us, darling." He knew she wouldn't' refuse because who possibly could refuse Juka?
Although the music was not typical for Juka it was, nevertheless, entirely evident that he was a practiced and talented dancer. He moved with perfect grace, in time with the beat of the music, allowing himself to lead and be led as best fit the needs of the song and his partner. This was where he truly excelled and his every movement exemplified that fact. He knew that every face in the place was watching the two of them and secretly reveled in the attention but did not allow even a hint of his awareness mar the the human art he and his partner were creating. Every movement served a purpose, one more stroke of a human paintbrush. His paint was his arms and legs and it flowed beautifully upon the canvas of the dance floor.
It was a rare pleasure to dance with Venus, almost effortless to create a masterpiece with someone every bit as graceful as he himself was. Juka smiled up at the large red creature before him, silently admiring. He molded his body to that of his partner, matching the other's sensual moves with actions equally as sensual.
In the distant back of his mind Juka knew that each and every one of the people within this club would remember their epic dance and that they would never see anything like it again. He and his partner were as gods to these people, perfect movement and perfect rhythm, one with each other and with the music. It was with some reluctance that he stepped away from the man at the summation of the song.
Juka couldn't help but notice the large, red and impeccably dressed creature that walked through the door and, he was more than a little pleased to note, he was noticed as well. And what a specimen he appeared to be, like no one Juka had ever seen before and he was instantly drawn to the man. And, of course, he knew that it would only be right for the two of them to dance together seeing as how they were the most amazing two in the entire place.
And then when the red man approached Juka and gently wiped the drop of water from his lip, ever so careful to ensure that his makeup remained untouched, his precocious heart almost melted right there. He smiled seductively at the not quite demand to dance and got to his feet without a word. Even with his 3 inch stilettos his dance partner was still a good half an inch taller than he and much broader as well, but that just added to his exotic appeal.
"Let us turn the heads of every one of these people so they cannot help but worship us," Juka stated, extended his hand to be led to the dance floor. And he had no doubt that the crowd would worship them.
Juka landed a block of from the Scarlet Arrow nightclub and removed a mirror from his handbag in order to double check his hair and makeup. And it was perfect. Simply perfect as it always was. He put it away and smiled to himself. He was going to make an entrance today. Where Juka Miami went people watched and since this was his first time in a club since coming to the city, well, he simply had to make sure that everyone who saw him knew exactly how fabulous he was.
With a practiced walk that caused his hips to sway provocatively with each step Juka made his way to the entrance. He winked at the bouncer guarding the front door. "You don't really need to see my id?" he asked with a full lipped pout and just as he saw the bouncer begin to get ready to protest he planted a flirtatious kiss on the man's cheek. The bouncer waved him in, as Juka knew that he would. He was Juka, after all, how could they not let him in? His very presence made the club a more desirable place to be.
The first think Juka did upon entrance to the club was find himself a place to sit at the bar and order himself a water. He never drank, of course, nor did he eat meat or dairy. He had to maintain the perfect body and doing so meant avoiding any poison that could possibly mar his unearthly beauty. Sitting at the bar gave him a view of everyone in the club. Eventually, he was certain, someone would come to him asking him to dance. They always did. It was hard, sometimes, being the most stunning creature in the entire club, but somehow he would manage.
"It's hard not to love something so unassuming. You can leave your world behind for another, drop it at a moment's notice and it'll still be there, just where you left off. Which is more than I can say about most things in life."
"That's what my music is like for me," Juka said, his voice taking on a note of slight melancholy. He hadn't had a chance to do any performing since coming to the city and he knew that simply must change. Soon. As soon as he was properly settled and learned how to do this whole cleaning thing.
"You're not doing half bad yourself, though I think you're wearing more make up than me."
Juka giggled. "Darling, that's because I have to put in effort to be this beautiful while for you it comes naturally." He smiled, trying to charm her. Juka obediently started walking around the room collecting up random bits of trash. This really wasn't so bad after all, he decided after he had finished his given task. "I've only been in the city a few days now. I just moved here from Tokyo." He missed his city. He may not have grown up there and despite certain difficulties it still felt like home.
"Cheating? How can you cheat at cleaning?" Juka asked confusedly. He really didn't understand. Was cleaning a sport or something? Some sort of grand competition in which the winner was the one with the most spotless house? He blinked in her direction and then giggled as bubbles were flicked at him, all thoughts of house cleaning competitions lost from mind.
"Laundry detergent?" he asked a note of hope in his voice. He went and searched in one of his cupboards and then came back with an exuberant "yay!" laundry detergent in hand. He presented it to Ghost, grinning broadly as if he had found a grand prize. Maybe that's what one won when they were victor in the house cleaning competition?
Juka was in his best sexy black dress, complete with shimmering sequins and bright eccentric makeup. His hair hair hung long, for once, and he wore a matching pair of black gloves on his hands. He didn't' know why but he just felt like tonight was going to be special and he simply had to take the extra step to be even more fabulous than usual. So, before leaving his apartment he slipped on his best pair of stiletto boots and took one extra long look in the mirror, just to make certain. Today, he decided, he was going to go see what the clubs of New York was all about and maybe, if he was lucky, meet a gorgeous boy or girl to bring home with him.
Sadly Juka still hadn't gotten around to getting himself the motorcycle he so dearly wanted so there really was only one other way to get around and that was, of course, to float. If he had any knowledge of money or finances at all he would have realized that his father hadn't even given him enough money to get his oh so dearly desired bike, but that knowledge would come (with much sorrow to be sure) later.
Juka stepped outside onto his balcony and a moment later he was bubbled and floating swiftly through the air. He was feeling in a particularly good mood that night and more than a little bit mischievous so instead of his usual caution when using his powers, remaining high above the city where no one would possibly notice him, he floated just above the rooftops, doing acrobatics in the air as he went. It really great fun and those land locked people really didn't know what they were missing.
Juka giggled as he spun his bubble around upside down and then righted himself again. This was indeed going to be a good night. He could feel it.
Juka smirked at Jewel and her comments. "Well I know how amazing I am and I don't need you to tell me but I do so appreciate it." He gave her a peck on the cheek and spun around flamboyantly. "And as for where to eat, I thought we'd just start walking and see where it led us. More of an adventure that way." And he was always up for a grand adventure and that was, after all, the whole purpose of this trip anyway, other than finding kitties of course.
Juka was about to turn and begin walking in the direction of the outside of the alley when he noticed a young, somewhat disheveled looking woman approaching them. Normally her appearance would have bothered him but the first thing to catch his fleeting attention was the pink glow around her figure. "Amazing!" he stated, his voice awe-filled. "You glow pink. Fantastic." He walked up to her and tried to poke the pink aura, completely disregarding any possible danger in such an action.
Then he noticed the skunk and with a girlish shriek of terror he bubbled himself and shot into the sky 10 feet. "Its a skunk!" he yelled in disbelief. Then he noticed that the girl didn't seem to have any fear around the little furry creature so maybe it was tame or something? He brought his bubble back down to earth but wasn't quite ready to leave its sanctuary until he was certain of his safety.
