The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The Lotus was a busy place on Valentine's Day. There was music inside, music that made Lily smile and adjust her steps to the rythm as they finally walked in. The place was huge, much bigger than it looked on the outside. Filled with people. And music. And colors. And lights. As crazy as it sounds, it was exactly what Lily needed. She made sure not to let go of Shawn's hand; she knew she could loose him in the crowd if she did. She pulled him closer - or, rather, pulled herself closer to him, shifting their hands so his arm was around her waist. She was smiling, enjoying the music; it looked like the place had everything a good party needed. Drinks, music, dance floor, places to sit and chill. Hopefully in that order. "So, now comes the 'we stay inside and dance' part we had been talking about?" she asked with a grin, looking up at him.
"I know what you're thinking Jewelly, that I'm not really serious and I 'll just get bored with it in a bit, but I won't. I'm going to join the X-men and make a difference in the world. I did tell you that I helped defeat Cthulu right? And I now have anvils." Lily blushed, and smiled at her friend. She didn't really have any reason to doubt him. The sheer force of Juka's enthusiasm could take him anywhere as long as he wanted to go. "I think it's great that you want to do this." she nodded "I mean, I am not exactly better suited to be an X-man than you are, and yet, here I am." she grinned "I am singing again. The band's not complete yet, but we're working on it. You woudln't happen to know a good drummer would you?" "Umm..." Jewel wrinkled her nose, tapping her lips with a finger as she thought about it "Nope, not really. Sorry. But." she tilted her head "I expect V.I.P. tickets to your first concert." And she was serious about that. "Who else in in your band?"
“Well, we’re here. Let’s go see what’s going on shall we?” Lily smiled as she got out of the car, looking towards the club curiously. "Looks like an interesting place." she commented. Of course, it was still Valentine's Day, which meant there were many people out and about with their sweethearts, partners, significant others etc. This didn't disturb her at all. Seeing people having fun around her was a welcome change from the solitude of the pat weeks... as well as all that was before that. "Have you been here before?" she asked as they walked in. It was an innocent question.
It was all very distracting. Not only because of the silver, and the effects it had on both of them, but also because, well, it was Shawn, and she had missed being close to him for so long. Not to mention she never did anything like these games with anyone before. Lily sighed as his fingers touched her cheek and neck, and then she chuckled, taking his hand in hers for a moment before she lifted it and put it back onto the steering wheel. "Eyes on the road, cowboy." she grinned, pulling on his silver one last time before she pulled her hand away. This whole thing, her and him, it was definitely going somewhere. She hadn't quite figured out where, yet, but she enjoyed it. She couldn't wait to see the club he picked.
Oh, Juka had lots of news. Lily listened to all of them, letting him speak as she sipped her tea; it was all too much and too fast to sink in at once, and when in started to it still made her choke on her tea. "Aura attacked you?!" she asked, eyes wide. Her last memory of the three of them was going shopping together; sure Aura was weird enough and didn't know anything about the world, but she didn't look like she wanted to hurt Juka... "Poor baby." she shook her head, not really showing if it was meant for Juka, or Aura, or both of them. She was also surprised by the fact that he didn't eat or sleep anymore. "So, a proprer hero, huh?" she smiled "Are young to join the team too? That would be..." she couldn't really say what that would be. A surprise? Juka was enthusiastic about a lot of things at one point or another, there was no telling how serious he was about the role of a 'hero'. "What about you? What did I miss over in Romania?" "Nothing." she answered quickly. It was true, there was nothing there she wished for Juka to experience. "It was a success, I guess, we helped a lot of people..." she looked down into her tea "But most of us had to pay a price for it." Lily shook her head again and smiled, waving the bad thouhts away "So, you are singing again?"
Lotus. Lily had heard the name before, but she was not sure if it was the place in New York, or somewhere else. The way Shawn explained it, it sounded like a good place to visit. At least once. They were silent for a while, Shawn driving and Lily watching the lights and forms of New York City life. She neved particularly liked big cities, and New York was definitely larger than life. She preferred New Orleans any time. But she couldn't deny it was a place to be when one was looking for way to spend her free time. Or go on a date. Lily snapped back to reality when Shawn's hand touched hers. He was playing on the effect his silver had on her senses. He was good at that. Lily's hand movd, running her fingers along the back of his hand, pulling on the silver with her powers slightly, before tracing the inside of his wrist, and his palm. She didn't look at him, but she had a smile playing on her lips all the same.
However stealthy she was trying to be, Juka noticed her. Lily let out a surprised squeak as her friend pulled her into the bear hug; she held out the mug in one hand, trying not to spill hot tea on either of them. Juka was talking, fast and excited as he usually did, and Lily found out she didn't mind at all. After the long time of moping, some color was all she needed. "Good to see you too, hun" she smiled, setting the tea down on the nearest flat surface before returning the hug "I missed you." It was true. In his own weird childish way Juka was one of her best friends, and friends were all she thought about, back in Romania. When she finally untangled herself from the hug, Lily walked over to the bed to sit, carrying her tea with her. "So, I see you can't sleep either." she chuckled, looking around "How long have you been staying in the Mansion?" she looked back at him "And what else did I miss?" She knew exactly that was all Juka would need to start telling stories. That's why she asked.
Lily got in the car, and put one finger to her lips, thinking about their options. She couldn't really think of any movies or shows she wanted to see 8and haven't seen already); besides, talking and enjoying each others company sounded better right now. "Club sounds good" she said finally "If you know any good place besides Evolution." She didn't really have anything against Evolution; but somehow she remembered it to be more crowded than she preferred. And lots of mutants always meant something happening... "Let's not take a walk in the park tonight, okay?" she chuckled, kissing him on the cheek "I would prefer a date when neither of us has to save the other, for a change."
Even though things definitely got better, some changes took more time than others. Lily was slowly finding her way back to normal, with the help of her friends, and Shawn. But some things were still not perfect, one of them being her sleep schedule. After weeks of sleeping most of the day, and then sleeping on and off whenever she felt like it, and staying up at nights, she couldn't really decide when she felt sleepy anymore. Right now, she didn't. This is how Lily ended up wandering the hallways of the Mansion at 2am with a mug of hot tea in her hands, dressed in her sleepwear. The Mansion was quiet, fillet with the soft sounds of many people sleeping; under some doors, there was light, but most of them looked dark. There was a sound from the end of the hallway. Someone was definitely up, doing something that included music. Lily tried to remember who lived in that room, but she couldn't; she spent too much time away, and then alone, to keep up with the constant in-an-out flow of Mansion residents. Following the voice, she waked up to the door, and listened. It sounded familiar. Looking around, she observed that the rooms nearby must have been unoccupied - or said someone just didn't care about disturbing the sleep of others. That, and the voice. Juka? Lily nudged the door open, to peek inside. Curiosity, once again, got the best of her.
“Let’s go. We ain’t done yet.” Lily followed him outside, letting him hold her hand. Once they started talking about things that went unsaid for so long, suddenly te idea of talking didn't seem so horrible at all. She found herself smiling as she wondered what else he had planned. When Shawn pulled her into a hug, Lily sighed and buried her face in his neck. It was a warm, deeply comforting feeling to be held by him; he could feel the silver hum under his skin, and his breath on her cheek as he kissed her. “I’m just asking one thing from you. Don’t ever do that again, OK?” "I promise." she whispered, enjoying the warmth for a moment longer before she looked up, a smile playing on her lips "So, what's next?"
Lily blushed deep red at his words. He was saying a lot of things, and admitting even more. And the most curious thing, she didn't feel awkward or ashamed about being confronted like that. She could tell he meant every word, from his voice and the way he looked at her. "I... don't really have an excuse." she said finally, looking down at her hands "I have never been through anything like this, and... I just figured, if anyone else can deal with it... I don't want to be weak." She shook her head, and sighed. "That, and other things." she glanced at him "Sorry. I don't want to ruin the date." she smiled a bit "I am sorry, for making you worry about me."
Lily kept scratching the big foxy ears quietly as she thought about all the things she wanted - or didn't want - to say. "You know, it was my first mission." she sighed "I am not even part of the X-team yet. I am just a trainee. But I... I guess I wanted to help the best I could. During the American Registration... I barely knew what being a mutant meant. I can pass for human, I... I guess I'm the only one on the team who didn't have any experience with a crisis like that. So the whole thing going on in Romania... was unexpected. For me, I mean." She didn't really know where she was going with all that, or how much she wanted to tell the fox. For now, she just had to start somewhere. And keep scratching.
