The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Here's the gist of it; Tensions between mutants and humans are still high. The scars from the registration act are still fresh. As it is right now, people are generally uncomfortable around visible mutants, and distrusting of known mutants who haven't already shown they are productive members of society.
Some politicians still press for ways to fix the 'mutant issue'. Some mutants still go on murderous rampages, and some still harm others on accident when they are having trouble controlling their mutations. This reflects negatively on mutants as a whole, who have a hard time finding employment in non-mutant friendly places, have trouble getting loans, are more likely to be arrested for petty crimes in most states. In short, it's a huge civil rights issue.
To make things worse, a video leaks out onto the internet of some police beating an visible mutant nearly to death. There is a huge media outlash, but no officers are convicted, and in response, riots start to break out in major cities, including new york.
Such a plot could see involvement from each and every member in the site, leaving none out of them out of the action; non faction players can either join the riots, or get caught up in the chaos while seeking safety.
X-men would, of course, be instrumental in trying to control and halt violent protesters, alongside the MRC and NYPD. The angle here is that mobs never sleep; the X-men and police officers would be sleepless, stressed, and most likely at the end of their rope by the culmination of this plot.
The Order would have incredible options when it comes to this plot. They could even go very far in instigating the riots, using it at a cover to get a foot hold in politics, and possibly being of the front lines of the protests for mutant rights and equality. They could even call for the blood of the police men in the video.
I could put together a time table for this plot and everything, but I want to gauge interest first. What do you guys think?
Thanks to Andrea and Jorge for my sigs! I WABBLE YOUUU! AV Roach~
I'd totally volunteer Aurion to be one of the mutants who gets beaten almost to death...no matter how unlikely that would be, ya know armored scales and all.
I like how even though this would be a nation wide thing, and site wide, individual players/characters could choose to ignore what's happening if they felt like it. It happens all the time in reality as it is. I'm all for the Order somehow making it all happen.
Not to be a apple polisher but, I think the idea is perfect! Plus it totally opens the door for more action between the factions, and could totally lead into something I've been planning for Lennox. I'm down.
I am tempted to have Forte be a part of this (After what he's going to go through with Aurion, he'd be very disappointed if someone beat up his lizard friend). Of course, his personality is taking a change, so it would be interesting to see how he responds to these events. xD

YES
I've been talking about making stuff like this happen for a while now, because I love love love love the idea of turning mutant rights into a more major sitewide plot element.
Now that we have the M drug in play, M-users might even join these riots and take the side of the mutants.

I actually like the idea of the Order arranging for this video to happen, with the intention of starting these kinds of riots. It's not such a far-fetched idea that the Order could use some kind of mind control / suggestion (Syn, perhaps?) to manufacture this incident, and/or possibly even repeats of the original, in NYC, with the intention of stirring up more trouble.
The Order would have incredible options when it comes to this plot. I would argue that the Order should call less for "the blood of policemen" and more for a political overhaul. Terrorism of this sort isn't particularly effective and doesn't attract many followers unless it has political objectives.
I also think that we could use the Black Panthers as a model for how the Order's political front could operate. They could expand the reach of the Sanctuary's services to include "survival programs" similar to what the Panthers ran, including classes on the legal system, economics, and self-defense; a health clinic for non-resident walk-ins (making use of mutant healers as well as a handful of sympathetic medical professionals, if possible); and anti-police-brutality volunteer organizations similar to copwatch, which were in turn also inspired by the panthers.
Political objectives for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Panther Party (name subject to revision) could include the formation of a "mutant colony," similar to the "black colony" that the Black Panther party. Dorian would be happy to write pamphlets and help organize survival programs~
Meanwhile, the X-Men could be that "let's just work together and get along" counter argument, working with police and the government to keep peace. The X-Men would be doing this because they're traitors to their kind and should be eliminated, obviously. They're all pawns of the establishment and they're trying to sabotage the will of the mutant people.
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!
Syn could most certainly "arrange" for such an act to occur to set off the spark as well as any following events to keep the flame going. She would also help Markus gain influence in the politican arena to increase our leverage.
This looks really interesting. Yes for me since Alex would find himself torn between whom to side with since he's in favor of equality like the X-men, but he would also call for those policemen that nearly beat a mutant to death to have disciplinary action taken against them since he feels that everyone that uses their gifts or position wrongly should owe up to it.
Also, the M-drug thread that I'm doing that has to do with an enhancement drug for M-drug users could really have an effect on this too if the M-drug users join the mutant rioters.
I Like the idea and Aura seems the type to try and exploit the riots where she can. Might add to the chaos of those unconvicted officers wound up dead or hospitalized. This would add to the distrust Humans have in mutants as a whole.
Giving the order a clear goal may be good. Aura could very well teach or try to teach one of the classes. The situation could force the order to take a more political hand.
I like the idea as well. Absolutely no clue what stand Miles would have on the whole situation though. If Aurion is the one getting beat up, Miles would actually be pissed off at the police since Aurion and Miles have met in Sanctuary, but I don't see him as the riot-y type. I do see him as joining a peaceful, sign-carrying protest that eventually turns into a riot though, and that sounds like a cool, chaotic thread that could have all sorts of players and characters participating in it, be it as heroes, aggressors or victims to the violence.
Oh my! If friends get hurt and people start suffering or dying, he could turn into dark mode. It'd be like... the first time I'd get to post with him like that...
