The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He had everything he needed. He didn't want to hear her speak anymore. She had nothing worthwhile to say; it was all the same meaningless @#$^ he'd heard from bandit after bandit before putting a hole in their head. He wasn't ready to give up on this world. Not while he still had breath in his lungs. Not while people like her still did the best they could to make this place even worse.
He would kill her. He would bury this family. He would hang her from something high so that the world could see what happened to people like her, just like the rest of the bandits... and then he would go his separate way, hating himself even more for having to do this.
"so be it."
He moved quickly, a hand sliding up his arm to pinch a J-shaped piece of metal, which he flicked her way in a flash of speed, aiming to clip a snake right from the top of her head... He knew which ones could spit, he aimed at one of those... Also... he just wanted her to hurt. Deep down inside he wanted to scream at her. To cry... How could she? How could she turn into this?
He threw something, and didn't even bother to answer her question. Before she could speak the words 'How rude' she caught a flash of silver. Then pain. A serpent separated from her, blood spurted.
Instantly, roaring and lion teeth assaulted her mind, and she shrieked at the top of her lungs.
Nightmares... nightmares... she thought she was over this. She thought this was a distant memory...
Anger followed swiftly on the heels of chest seizing fear, turned to fury within her breast, and she was calm no longer. Once placid features became wild. Orange eyes filled with emptiness darkened and widened until they were surrounded by seas of white. Blood ran in rivulets down her forehead, dripped into one eye, and onto her chin.
Her serpents frenzied.
"I DIDN'T WANT THIS." Her hands clenched and un-clenched erratically, and she darted at him. She was faster than she'd ever been before. Quick enough to close the distance between them without much effort.... and strong enough to drive the blade she pulled from it's sheath at her side as deep into him as she could manage.
"IT WAS PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO FORCED MY HAND!"
Forced her to take revenge on those who'd hurt her baby... To spill the blood of those who'd killed her child. This man was no different. He was a faceless, soulless beast just like the rest of them.
His unannounced attack had stirred the beast, and it reacted like a beast should... It spouted nonsense, and charged in. It seemed she'd even gained the speed of a primal monster as well, probably somewhere around the point where she'd lost a hold of her humanity. She moved faster than he'd expected, a blade brandished for a quick, if a bit over zealous strike. He used a burst of energy from his foot to fling himself to the side, wincing as he felt the blade scrape along his left side as he moved, tearing right through his silk armor... Luckily he'd been able to avoid a direct blow... She was faster than he was.
He was better; his prey over the year had been skilled killers... Hers, probably not so much.
As he flew toward a tumbled toward the ground, he pulled another J, and flinged it over his shoulder at her last spitter. He needed to take them out if he was going to win this. Unfortunately, they were all moving erratically... He may not hit his target. Either way, though, he was hitting something. If he could keep her charging in senselessly, this would be a quick battle.
He rolled to his feet, and immediately dove behind the cart, pulling his blade from his back... One more charge in, and he could behead Medusa once and for all.
Andrea snarled, skidding to a halt in the dirt as he expertly danced out of her way, tossing another of those damned projectiles at her. It skimmed past her head, lopping off a few of the smaller snakes she'd never bothered to name. With a hiss, the Greek righted herself, ignoring the blood on her blade.
"I WANTED to live like the rest of them... I WANTED to give my son as good a life as I could manage!" She hadn't realized she was still yelling, if she had she probably would have quieted herself. There was no need to think, though, just to act. Her toes curled below her in the dirt, preparing to push her forward again for another attack.
CRACK
She hadn't been expecting it. A bullet tore straight through her right shoulder, with enough force to lift her completely off her feet and send her flying back a good distance.
She cried out in surprise, momentarily knocked silly from the blast, and when she landed she saw stars.
The anger vanished... and she quickly forgot about the fight, and what she'd been so upset about as a more important question fluttered to mind. Was her shoulder still there? Yes... it was. But... what the hell had hit her?
The beast was gone, replaced by human looking emotions. Confusion... fear. Quick inspection of the area pointed to a bullet wound, and a bad one at that. She was up on her feet in seconds, and barely missed a second shot as it tore through the dirt where she'd just been sitting.
The Judge most definitely didn't have a sniper. He also didn't have a clue what was going on...
CRACK!
Wait... He knew the sound of that rifle... he'd heard it many times before; it was a browning left handed bolt action. A hunting rifle; but it had been turned into an instrument of death. He'd been chasing the man who used it for some time.
"Clive..."
--------------------------------
He'd been chasing this caravan all day, and what did he see when he got there? Some mutant B#%$ had taken his gains... And the Judge was there, too. that wasn't as much of a surprise; the bastard had been following him ever since the grenade trap incident. Apparently he took it personally. Clive pulled the bolt back on his rifle, ignoring the brass as it clinked against the ground. He could probably ace the chick with the next shot, and take out the Judge after; he'd found out which side to shoot by now, and he knew he was standing just outside of the sap's range. No way he would be able to stop him.
It was good to tie up loose ends.
-----------------------------------------
Damnit. Where was he? He'd felt something he knew the direction the shot had come from... Where... Where?
"CLIVE!"
Wait a second... He felt it... The hunter was clever; smarter than anyone else he'd fought... But he didn't take into account the slowly increasing range of the Judge's mutation... There he was... At the edge of his long, feeling finger tips... chambering a round.
He could try to strike first... That would give Andrea a chance to flee, though... Damnit! Who should he attack? The man who had killed countless people, and haunted him for the better part of a year, or the woman he used to love, turned monster?
...
Apparently it wasn't a hard decision; he was already jumping toward Clive.
