The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

If there was one thing known by Markus it was that opportunities come and go, and this was most definitely an opportunity. To grasp this now would mean to harvest a great bounty of benefits that would prosper fourth from it. It wasn't every day that you run into a girl who happens to be in the process of being attacked and her father is a bit of a high class criminal who smuggles contraband across the seas. So you save the girl and fall into good graces with her Father, boy what luck that was, and what more, he has a bit of a paper trail of his dealings across the seas which are easy to find if you get the right people to look into it. And there you have it, your on a cargo ship about to blackmail her father into giving you the benefits of the company and possibly more.
Sitting at a table in the bowels of the ship, a quarters room vacant for the purposes of which were to unfold, a meeting asked for by the man who had fallen into such luck began to unravel. Proceedings went on with the casual greetings, followed by a substantial explanation of how Markus ended up saving his daughter. No one else there, again requested by Markus, things began to turn towards the true point of the conversation.
In awe of Markus's proposition the mans anger was quickly relevant in his facial appearance. To Markus, this man was far too young to be anything to be fearful of. Markus was well aware of his superiority to this man, in more ways than he could conceive at the moment. Now of course came the threats that would mean nothing as well, they were easily predicted from the man. It was expected that he would be violent, like and animal cornered or pushed into it's place. "I am going to have the men upstairs co..." "Do what? Nothing, because those dogs have new leashes." Markus's quick retort silenced the man. This was a bluff of course, to fill the mans head with paranoia and make him tame for the duration of his time below.
"All's I ask is one simple thing from you, and then you can go about your business as it has been." "And what would that be?" The man asked in a tone of anger that sounded like a piece of steel being beaten with a raw fist. "Your signature is all I need. This is not a contract that binds as much as it seems." Pulling from his suit coat Markus slid a folded piece of paper towards the man whose face now burned as bright as the anger he tried to repress. He unfolded it, almost tearing it in half. It was a document of ownership to a building, but this was merely a ploy.
Signing it and thinking he had much more too loose, Mr. Manfrella quickly pushed the paper back to the current threat and waved his hand for the man to leave him. "Once we dock, I suggest you not do any dealings with any of your current businessmen, at least before I've had my say. You just sit this one out." Sitting at the table still while Markus made his way back up to the deck, the idea that he would surely be killed by these mobsters was running rampant through Mr. Manfrella's mind. But Markus still had more tricks to play, a great many that would undoubtedly lead to the spiraling downfall of Mr. Manfrella.
It was time for a second meeting that was on Markus's agenda. Usually it would be Mr. Manfrella, but he had been pushed out of the ordeal.
"Before you make any big threats, I want you and your boss to know that I am not here to throw a wrench into your nice plan of proceedings here. I'm here to warn you that Manfrella has betrayed you." Now in midst of more men who had patted him down and have him confined to a well furbished room and surrounded by average looking men with guns and three in front of him a bit more well dressed. "What do you mean?" One spoke with an accent which was easily expected. "Let me show you the proof." Markus replied as he reached into his suit coat for the paper Mr. Manfrella had originally signed.
Pulling off a thin paper sheet that didn't include the signature from the top paper while still concealed by his coat, Markus then pulled it out and presented it to the men. The paper that was originally a document for possession of a building was now a warrant agreement made by Mr. Manfrella and the foreign division of the D.E.A.
That part of the plan was much more smoother than Markus had thought. Convincing the mob that Manfrella had betrayed them was easy as well as why they needed Markus. But keeping them off him until Markus got everything together was a bit harder. He told them the warrant had no effect until a few days or so. That gave them time to prepare, them and Markus. He still needed to obtain a few more things if he wanted to make an asset out of the industry Mr. Manfrella had made. He would also be gaining his first foothold in organized crime if he started dealing with the Mafia. But the time would come to gain control over that Empire in time once he finished his business elsewhere.
