The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Chase did his best to protest her, but Rebecca was having none of it. Her body or not, Chase was a kid. "Tough. It's for safety, an' it'll only take like ten seconds." Whether he moaned and groaned or not, Rebecca pulled Chase's feminine hand out of the pocket and held it tightly just as the light turned to "WALK."
Apparently "Mama T's" title was not just honorary. Chase was most likely not Miss Gemma's blood son, considering the vast difference between Gemma's mocha complexion and Chase's... let's say "vanilla" complexion. More likely he was either adopted or a step-son. "You're mama is the nicest! She actually helped me apply to colleges." In Rebecca's academic and social lives, Mama T was a godsend.
Chase's adopted Scottish accent sounded thicker as time went on. Grinning, Rebecca commented, "You know, it's sae different hearing my accent from th' outside. Can you control it, or is it natural?"
They stepped back onto the next sidewalk and Rebecca relinquished her copy's hand. "There. Was that sae bad?"

Rebecca snatched Chase’s hand and towed him along before the child could even think to protest, and as he was dragged across the street, his expression was deadpan. Really? Really? The doppelganger quirked a smile as Rebecca complimented his mother, and he placidly agreed, “Yeah, my mama’s the best.”
“It’s natural,” Chase murmured, as the two steeped onto the curb and Chase’s hand was released, “The longer I am someone else, the more ‘them’ Ah become. Sae Ah’ll…” the doppelganger coughed and smiled apologetically, “Ah’ll start talking like you, thinking like you. Ah’ll be your copy.”
“And yes, that was horrible,” the doppelganger quipped back, sticking out its tongue.

Rebecca was beginning to understand what Chase meant when he said that her traits would start becoming more pronounced in him, highlighted ironically by his pronunciation as it shifted from Rebecca's voice in an American accent (which was absurd) to a more Scottish lilt.
She grinned, entertained by the young boy's sarcasm from her feminine lips. "Well, tough. Pretty boy or not, we hold hands til you grow up for real."
Now knowing that Chase would progressively become more Rebecca, a more worrisome issue crossed her mind as they continued walking closer to the Mansion. "Um, you wouldnae get stuck if you stayed too long, right?" As fun as it was to have a copy of herself around, (a thought which sounded more narcissistic than she expected in her head,) she would feel bad condemning Chase to life as someone else because she found it amusing.
Before he answered, she wanted to ask a question that was a shade or two less upsetting than that one, so she added, "An' if you're getting more like me, how dae you feel about Agnes now?" It was the logical question, since Agnes was the thing Rebecca was most passionate about. Though speaking of passion...
He wouldn't end up with those thoughts or anything, right? He was naturally a little kid, so maybe he would be immune to... those things? Rebecca could feel her face warming up at the thought.

The doppelganger breathed a sigh, and pocketed its hands crossly. It wasn’t truly sulking, but it’d pretend, if it made a point. The real Rebecca asked her copy a question, and her duplicate lifted its head as she spoke. The barrage of questions was preventing it from tilting into the “totally Rebecca” mindset, but it was a different line to walk. Chase was constantly trying to remember he was Chase, and trying not to enmesh himself in the teen’s mindset.
Chase shook his head with a smile, “Ah can always change back. Just might not want tae, after a bit. You might have tae take your… bracelet back.”
He paused for a moment, forgetting what part of the ensemble had been lent to him, and what he’d fabricated. It was only after momentary reflection that Chase remembered the bangle was what had triggered it all.
“How am I supposed tae feel about Agnes?” Chase countered, arching an eyebrow. As soon as the question was voiced, the residue on the bangle began to work its wonders—flashbacks from Rebecca’s point of view flooded his psyche. The doppelganger paused as he was met by this memory, his cheeks coloring. A study session in the library had gone awry—all sorts of icky things, like kissing and… and… bras.
Chase was floundering, and the only way he could see to make the memory stop was to brush the bangle off—and that he did—tendrils unwound and the form compressed, until a flushed blond boy was left standing in the place of Rebecca’s duplicate. He wobbled as he grew reacquainted with the smaller size. For a few moments, he stood staring at Rebecca in speechless, flushed embarrassment. The child turned-tail and hastily began to walk away, unable to put what he’d seen into words.

It was good to know that Chase could turn back at any point, but it was almost weirder to know that he could become so "Rebecca" that he would stop wanting to revert back into Chase. Her personality was not that dominant, was it? It was probably best to ignore the moral questions she was beginning to worry about.
Though it was a tad bit unnerving to hear Chase's lapse in memory regarding her bangle. Was he already getting so like her that he was forgetting what he borrowed from her in the first place?
Chase asked a question about Agnes, and before Rebecca could think of a subtle and tactful way to reply, she caught her copy's cheek shifting from peach to pink to red. (It was, as a sidenote, interesting to watch the process she so commonly went through from the outside.)
"Um, Chase?" Before Rebecca could ask anything more, the girl!boy was pulling the bangle off of a narrow wrist and letting it clank to the ground as the tendrilly form diminished back to a small male child, which illicited some gasps from people on the other side of the street who caught the process. Great; Rebecca probably just scarred a small child and a gaggle of pedestrians.
Rebecca picked up her bangle from the ground as Chase turned and started walking quickly in the other direction. Rebecca took long strides to shorten the distance.
How did she explain what Chase saw in her memories? What did he even actually see? She sure as hell was not going to ask! In a perfect world, was it not the mother's job to explain lesbianism to her son?
Regardless, Rebecca screwed up so she was the one who had to say something. "Um, Ah'm sorry Chase. Ah'm guessing you saw, um... a game! One of th' games Agnes and Ah played sometimes! A grownup game." It was a hasty and weak excuse, but hopefully it would be enough! An' hopefully he just caught a kissing game and not... oh Lord... Rebecca prayed she would not have way too much to explain to Mama T when they got to the mansion.

Chase was still flushed and embarrassed-looking when Rebecca caught-up with him, his lips pressed together wordlessly. Chase came to a confused halt as Rebecca spoke hastily.
>> "Um, Ah'm sorry Chase. Ah'm guessing you saw, um... a game! One of th' games Agnes and Ah played sometimes! A grownup game."
The child fixed the redhead with a scrutinizing stare, his eyes lingering in a puzzled array of oranges and browns.
“You were playing a game?” the child reiterated, “What kind of game makes you steal bras?”
His tone was matter-of-fact. He’d seen it, with his own… well, Rebecca’s own eyes. They’d been kissing, which… to the innocent child, was a simple solution to the cootie problem, even if it was weird. Kissing was still gross, regardless, and so were bras. The nine-year-old was certain to let the redhead know this—
“Bras are gross,” he said plaintively, “And kissing is gross too. That’s a gross game. Why were you playing it?”
Even if Rebecca was still a noble soul in endeavoring to cease the cootie-spreading epidemic, it was still gross.

>> “You were playing a game? What kind of game makes you steal bras?”
What kind of game indeed? Apparently the boy did catch Rebecca removing Agnes's underthings, (which thankfully seemed to be cut-off at the bra,) so it was sadly not just a kissing game Rebecca had to explain.
>> “Bras are gross, and kissing is gross too. That’s a gross game. Why were you playing it?”
Rebecca was still mortified by how much she had exposed Chase too, but it was still kind of funny to hear the childish boy-view of adult affection. It would not hurt to try fixing his opinion a little, even if he was obviously too set on his opinion to be swayed. "Well, bras arenae really 'gross;' for a girl, it's jist another piece of clothes." A godsend disguised as a piece of clothes.
"An' for grownups, kissing is jist something people dae when they want tae be close wi' a person they care about." She tussled the young boys hair. "When you grow up, you might e'en think differently," she teased.
And then Rebecca remembered to be a good role model. "Bit yeah, it was jist a silly game that jist makes sense when you're a big kid."

>> "Well, bras arenae really 'gross;' for a girl, it's jist another piece of clothes."
The childs’ brows were thinned in scrutiny, his mouth forming a small, skeptical pout. Bras were still gross. Gross, just like girls. And kissing. And pink.
>> "An' for grownups, kissing is jist something people dae when they want tae be close wi' a person they care about. When you grow up, you might e'en think differently… Bit yeah, it was jist a silly game that jist makes sense when you're a big kid."
Chase had reserved himself to thinking what he thought, while Rebecca thought what she did, but then she said the one phrase that was the bane of the child’s existence—and that was, he’d understand when he was older. It’d make more sense when he was a big kid.
“I think kisses will always be gross,” the child announced, pluckiness arising within him, “And bras, and pink and girls.”
He said this totally off of his guard, but then paused, seeming to realize that he was addressing a girl. Oops. The child hummed, and then revised his statement.
“Other girls. Because they’re… gross.”
Most kids were to the end of their believing-in-cooties years, at Chase’s age. But who was to say that cooties weren’t what made Chase shapeshift? The young shifter believed in them wholeheartedly. And nobody could tell him any differently.

There was no sense in trying to change the mind of a nine year-old, because he was a nine year-old. A kid like Chase had hard opinions, and that was fine; in fact, it was adorable to see the early stages of boyhood before an interest in girls (or boys) began to develop. She certainly looked forward to seeing Chase experience his first crush. The very idea was too cute for her to process.
It was also a nice attempt by Chase to sweep up his insult of the female gender by exempting her. "Arenae you such a sweetie?"
The pair finally reached their destination, standing in front of the Mansion gate. It opened to grant them access, and Rebecca turned to Chase, tussling his hair. "Thank you for accompanying this heroine home, Chase."
Before the boy could do anything to stop her, Rebecca leaned down and planted a kiss on the his cheek.

The walk was a brief one, and they were soon at the Mansions' gates. The gate couldn't open quickly enough. Chase was ready to bolt-- not necessarily to escape Rebecca, but... he'd been exposed to cooties for so long. He needed to surround himself with other boys, to counteract the effects of the exposure.
Rebecca tousled his hair, thanking Chase for his deed.
"No problem," Chase began to answer hastily. The gate was swinging open, he'd be able to take his leave soon. But Rebecca managed to snag him, and her lips met his cheek. The child froze, his cheeks illuming with a deep, pink blush. When his brain finally connected to the rest of his body, he flailed and squirmed, trying to wriggle free of the kiss.
Any sense of couth left him, and Chase rose a hand to his cheek, as if to wipe the kiss off. He ducked his face in embarrassment, his hand still touched to his face.
"Thank you for walking me home, too," Chase mutered quickly. He then quickly ran ahead, his little legs carrying him up the driveway and towards the Mansion.

The young boy's body seemed to freeze up like there was a snake patrolling him, which was actually rather humorous for Rebecca. There was no point in being offended by a boy who would eventually grow out of his "girls are icky" phase, and being offended would ruin how adorable the kid was.
"See you soon, boy wonder," she added behind a giggle as Chase ran off, possibly to clean his cheek with steel wool.
Rebecca returned to her room, hoping she would not receive an awkward call from Mama T regarding new information her son picked up at the comic shop.
