The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

So far he had gone unnoticed and it made his travel easy. However something was not right here, he felt an energy. It was coming from behind a building to his right, he decided he had to check. Giving thought to the shadows he stalked to the rear of the building. Once there he saw nothing.
As Ire began to walk away a voice broke through the silent night, “I’ve been waiting for you Arakye,” the voice said simply.
Ire froze mid stride. Turning around he opened his mouth to say something but the voice stopped him.
“No need for words dark one, It will all be explained to you in time. I’ve lied in wait for you to give yourself over to your true nature and that time has come to pass.”
A man then appeared from the darkness, why Ire could not see him with his fervor vision was beyond him. The man stood as tall as Ire but looked to be much older. His hair was dirty gray and his chest length beard was of the same color, he wore a simple white robe with gold embroidery down the sleeves. He lifted a left hand and a white aura consumed it, this pulled Ire from his shadows into full view.
“Your shadows are of no use to you in my presents,” He smiled at the statement. “Allow me to introduce myself, I am Artimis. I know you are confused as to why I am here and how I know your name but you will have your answers.”
Ire didn’t like this game, what did this man want? Interrupting his thoughts Artimis began to speak.
“Impatient are we? Then I will tell you what I want, I want to train you Arakye. I have the ability to teach you all you need to know, I can promise you that your abilities will increase at least twice of what they are now.”
Artimis had read his mind with telepathy he knew and he also knew that any thoughts he had would be spilt into this mans mind. He then finally spoke.
“I must admit that if you do posses such power to increase my abilities I am interested but I wonder why you would want such a thing.”
Artimis began, “I wish to train you for I know you have the potential to be a great mutant such as myself. I warn you however this will not come without cost.”
It was quite the coincidence that this had come up all of the sudden. Ire had planned on training to better himself, then this man came from no where and offered him training. Very odd.
“What if I were to decline your offer of training?” asked Ire.
Artimis had thought of this and was ready.
“If you decide not to let me teach you then you will never know the reasons why Brin deceived you.”
Ire was not ready for that. Rage exploded within, Ire then drew his blades.
Artimis laughed at the sight. Waving his hand, Ire was lifted from the ground then his face met with the brick building, Ire dropped his blades as he fell to the ground.
“You will learn to control that as well but you must be willing to face the truth and the punishment your body will take.”
Dazed, Ire stood after picking up his blades. He placed them back where they belonged and looked at Artimis long and hard.
“I’ll do it…but if you are lying and don’t tell me of what happened I will kill you.”
Artimis let our a chuckle, “I’m sure you will. Fear not you will get your answers as I said you would.”
He then walked over to Ire and a green aura covered them both, the sky cracked with the power and the ground seemed to quake.
“What’s going on!?” yelled Ire through the turmoil.
“We are going to a place where you will have all the time in the world Arakye.”

The last thing Ire saw was a blinding green light. After a moment of trying to regain his sight he looked around. He still stood in the abandoned town. He then also realized that Artimis was no longer by his side.
"Artimis where are you!?" Ire shouted.
Artimis's voice then entered his head, "You are quite loud for an assassin don't you think?"
Ire did not find that amusing, if anything it made him angry.
"I'm in no mood for games old man, show yourself and tell me what’s going on!"
A laugh echoed in Ire's head, "Where here in lies the problem, you must find me Arakye. Show me that you posses at least the ability to do that, then I will tell you what has happened."
Ire let out a sigh, if he didn’t respect the wisdom of the elderly he wouldn't even have started looking.
He made his way into the nearest building, it was a two story house. There was no door on the where there should have been one in the front and the windows had been smashed. Ire tried to sense Artimis's energy but somehow Artimis had cloaked it.
Ire made his way into the house and looked around what appeared to be the dining room. In the center of the room there was a round wooden table covered in dust. Not of his free will but as if someone had pushed him he looked closer at the table. On the table under the dust lay a note. He picked up the note and brushed it off.
It read: "I've done it, I have finally rid myself of that fool. Now Nelrith will give me the power I so desire and I will rule as a goddess. I feel like I should have remorse for what I've done but Nelrith tells me otherwise. Farewell my dear and I hope that where ever you end up you see how Nelrith was always right and you were nothing more then a pawn."
Shadows consumed the note and it dissipated into nothingness. Ire fell to his knees and let out a scream.
"Don't be so dramatic!" Artimis told him telepathically. "It only weakens your soul and your senses."
The next thing Ire knew was the feel of the cold floor on his face. Artimis had appeared behind Ire while he was on his knees and flew at him with a kick.
"Now Arakye lets try this again," he said out loud disappearing ones again.
Ire got to his feet quickly and shook off the hit. He spun to see Artimis but he was gone. Ire was still enraged and he wanted nothing more then to rip Artimis apart but a small glimmer of light inside told him this was not the way to beat him.
He proceeded to a staircase and made his way up it. It brought him to what looked to be a master bed room but it was not furnished. With a flash a scene then played out before his eyes.
Brin stood in front of him now having a discussion with Nelrith.
Nelrith: He is on his way?
Brin: Indeed he is and when he gets here we will complete the spell.
Nelrith: Good the fool will never see it coming. Tis a shame that I couldn’t use him as a minion as I had hoped. I wouldn’t have given him such power if I knew we would have to do this.
Brin: He is a stubborn one but worry not my love he will be no more soon enough.
The scene then disappeared. The darkness hit him full force. Ire clutched his stomach.
"Don't start that again," came Artimis's voice with a chuckle.
The back of Artimis's hand them met with great impact upon Ire’s face making him topple over backward.

Ire lay on the ground without a trace of darkness within him. The hit Artimis had delivered somehow sucked the darkness from him. Ire sat up slowly and looked around the room. Everything was still and he could not sense Artimis. Standing, he made his way to the staircase but froze just before descending. A passing energy shot behind him, it had to be Artimis. Ire turned quickly but saw nothing.
“Stop these games!” Yelled Ire in frustration.
A chuckle echoed throughout the empty room and then Artimis spoke, “Patience Arakye, that’s all you need.”
Ire turned back toward the stair case in a huff. As he turned the energy passed behind him again. Spinning quickly to meet the energy Ire saw a grinning Nelrith this time. Instinctively Ire drew his two swords and charged the man. Nelrith’s blood on his blades was all that mattered at that moment. Slashing at Nelrith with Kismet the form dissipated.
“Fool!” came Artimis’s voice.
Snapping from his rage Ire turned and caught Artimis’s fist with his forearm. Artimis jumped back and held a defensive stance.
“Well done, I knew you had it in you. However you still need practice.” Artimis said through a smile.
A flash of light then consumed the room. Shielding his eyes from the sudden light, the next thing Ire knew was the pain of a boot to his stomach. The light then extinguished and Ire fell to a knee. Sheathing his swords he put his right hand to the floor for support. Artimis hit harder then anyone he had known, even Orion. Gritting his teeth Ire stood again, he was getting quite sick of hitting the floor.
“Keep your wits about you Arakye or you will not survive these tests. Furthermore, you will not be able to better understand the power you possess.” came Artimis’s monotone voice.
Ire was at a loss here. He could not use his shadows, he couldn’t sense Artimis, and he certainly couldn’t take many more hits like that, as it was he could taste the blood in his mouth.
“You are not helpless, watch closely and you will learn the answers you seek.” Artimis reassured.
Making his way to the stairs he looked over his shoulder just to make sure Artimis was not there and then made his way down. As he reached the final step he looked around the room and there was no trace of energy. This could be very good or very bad, Ire hadn’t decided which. Ire made his way out of the house and found that it had started to rain. He pulled his hood up to keep his head dry. Just to the north he could see a small glimmer of light. Figuring he was meant to see it he made his way there. As he closed in on the light it dimmed at every step. By the time he made it to the spot it was gone.
“Now Ire I want you to close your eyes. Then when I say I want you to open them do so, understood?”
“Humph, as you wish old man.” Ire replied a bit annoyed.
Reluctantly he closed his eyes and on Artimis’s instruction he opened them again. As he opened his eyes something was horribly wrong. Ire could no longer see in the darkness with his fervor vision. He saw nothing but night.
“What have you done!?” screamed a confused Ire
“I‘ve taken away that which is most precious to you so that you may better understand it. Can you feel the emptiness within your soul Ire? To perfect your mutation you must face it first hand.”
Ire then felt a the temperature drop in the darkness around. Through the dark he could sense figures appear. He counted about seven but there was no way to know for sure. They closed in on him and Ire panicked, he had no defense against whatever was happening. As it was too late he realized that the figures he sensed where his own shadow demons. Unknown amounts of shadowy fury pelted Ire. He stood his ground and did not topple to the ground as his body wanted to. He felt his blood run freely over his face and build up in his mouth. The onslaught continued without waver, until Ire made his first move. His movement did not feel to be his own, it was an act of instinct. Ire shot out a bloodied hand with palm exposed. His hand touched a shadowy demon and Ire felt a surge of darkness course through his arm then into every extremity. Using both hands now he touched as many of the figures as he could. As he absorbed the last it did not simply course through him but lifted him from the ground slightly.
Hunching to grab his stomach, the darkness grew inside. It was not like it had been however, this was different. The pain inside did not stop growing, if he let it continue it would destroy him. The darkness threatened to tear him apart from the inside out but Ire fought it in earnest. It was too much, he couldn’t hold on. Releasing his grip from his stomach a scream erupted from Ire mouth. His eyes darkened to a midnight black as he fell back to his feel. Every part of his body surged with the dark energy and try as he might clear thought was not breaking through. Until Artimis lent a hand.
“Arakye, if you do not suppress the darkness and learn to control it you will be destroyed. You have minimal time, to understand your power is to understand the self and to do this you must accept all that has happened. Brin and Nelrith are in the past and if you wish to brood on what has happened you will die here. Fight it, do it for yourself and for the future that you can bring forth. Even if that future is one of pain for all that step in your path.”
Ire stood gasping for breath with the crushing darkness inside. He understood now, his anger had done nothing but hold him back. If he could accept the past he could better control the shadows and be that much more powerful. With the revelation Ire eyes turned back to their emerald green and the darkness faded. As the darkness completely left Ire fell to the ground unconscious.
A smiling Artimis stood over the sleeping warrior.

Ire’s eyes opened slowly and painfully. He lay on the ground with pain being the only sensation coursing through his tattered form. The sky above was bright with the new dawn and this did nothing but hurt his eyes all the more. Ire could hear the rustle of the grass near his head, he knew it was Artimis.
“Well done Arakye. I must say you have impressed me. None other has ever accepted their own power so readily, but don’t think that is the last time you will have to face it.”
Ire smiled weakly, “You mean there is more?”
“Much more, but for now you will rest. We have much to discuss, allow me to explain some things to you.”
Working his way to a sitting position Ire almost screamed at the agonizing motion. Artimis smiled in amusement then began.
“Arakye, as of now we sit in a stilled state of time. Everything around is stuck in one moment, once I release my hold on time we will be back to where you first met me. Holding time still will give you all the time you need to train and become one with your darkness.”
Normally Ire would have doubted such a claim but after seeing the capabilities of Artimis he thought otherwise.
“So then, how is it you have the ability to do such things? I’ve never seen a mutant with such extraordinary power,” Ire stated through gritted teeth to resist the pain.
“You have seen a mutant with such power but you probably don’t remember him. That’s a point for later. As far as my mutation goes I have acquired the highest level of understanding involving my powers. My mutation lent itself to the alteration of time but only in seconds originally, I studied the mutation for years and discovered that there was more to it then the surface effects. When I appear behind you that is because I’ve frozen time for a second and made my way their, this is also why you cannot sense me most times. You have however begun to notice me, well done.”
Situating himself in a more comfortable position, Ire began to wonder who he had seen with such power.
“I’m glad you brought that up,” Artimis chuckled. Ire had almost forgotten that Artimis was a telepath. “You see Arakye you may not remember this man because you were but a babe at the time. This man was your father, Dolves Kestle.”
Ire’s eyes narrowed at the remembrance of his father, he never met his father but knew that he wasn’t there for him. That never sat well with Ire.
“I know you are angry at him but you must understand he had needs he had to fulfill. I stood beside your father for many a year until his death. He fought for your land valiantly until he was felled by a man you know all too well, Nelrith.”
The darkness within started to grow very rapidly but Ire suppressed it to the point of almost non-existence. He was truly learning his own abilities. Artimis grinned and began to continue.
“I’ll admit this however, I cannot understand why you wish harm upon others when your father was such a pure soul.”
"I am not my father.” Ire stated coldly.
Artimis took a deep breath, “Indeed you are not.”
“I follow my believes, thus I am being true to myself. I feel humans inferior and I will not stop until they can respect us mutants for what we are.”
“Don’t you think that’s what Orion, Tricity and the others are doing?”
“The way they are doing it is by fighting a war they cannot win. Humans will not simply come to accept them if they continue to aid the humans. Orion and all the others are taken for granted, I will not be. I will show them the anger I feel and I will stand the better whether they accept mutants or if I have to slaughter them all so that there is no contestation. Furthermore, if any mutant stands in my way I will not hesitate to kill them as well.”
Artimis was taken back. He now understood why he was so adamant in killing others.
“I can tell you this, I know your father would be proud of you even though you both come from very different walks in life. You follow your convictions and stand true to yourself, that is a honorable trait indeed. Your father did the same.”
Ire hadn’t expected that response, it brought a slight smile to his face under his mask.
“Tell me Artimis, what was my fathers mutation?”
Artimis was reluctant to answer so instead evaded the question, “That is of little importance Arakye. We have conversed far too much, you must rest. Tomorrow you will face a trial even more arduous then the one you did last night. You will need your rest.”
Artimis stood and walked to the front of a sitting Ire. He placed his index finger upon Ire right shoulder and gently pushed him back. Though the push was not hard it somehow knocked him to his back and his eyes closed slowly with the thought of his father still prominent on his mind.

Awakening slowly Ire could smell the difference in the air. His eyes opened to see the alleyway where this had all started. It was now dark and confusion began to set in. Where had Artimis gone? What of his training to better sustain his mutation?
Ire stood groggily and shook his head, perhaps it was all nothing more then a dream, however he did feel a bit more attuned with his own self. Figuring time would tell Ire set out on a walk to mull things over.
