Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

MRO is an intermediate to advanced writing level original character, original plot X-Men RPG. We've been open and active since October of 2005. You can play as a mutant, human, or Adapted— one of the rare humans who nullify mutant powers by their very existence. Goodies, baddies, and neutrals are all welcome.

It was loud and chaotic. Kate’s world her home was literally being torn down around her. All she could hear was screams and crashes as she ran down the hall trying to find those she loved and escape with their lives. But somehow she knew that wasn’t going to happen. Somehow she knew that this was the moment it would all end. That the next few moments would define everything and show her the rest of her life.

Kate ducked and covered her face as the wall next to her exploded into splinters around her leaving small cuts all over her body. As she lowered her hand and looked up to see the site before her the entire world stopped and went silent. She stood and rushed to the still form at the top of the stairs and pulled her into her arms. She could feel her head shacking and her eyes flowing with tears as her mouth cried out but the world still lingered in silence. Chaotic silence. This body had belonged to the only family she had left and who she had hoped she could keep at the end of the world.

She looked up through the tears to see what she had given her life for. What had been so important to make such a sacrifice. A woman. She took a deep breath and grabbed her hand dragging the sacrifice out of the building behind her. Something in Kate took her over as she ran with the girl in hand trying to save both their lives.

And then she saw it. The gates. But she didn’t stop no she kept running and running not knowing where she was going and by the time she looked back the girl was gone. Somehow she had lost her, but as she looked at her empty hand she swore she would find her. She would find her and never let that death be in vein.
