The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The noise of the club was one decibel below deafening, with a steady BUMP-diddy-BUMP shaking the floor. Dancers on the floor bounced in a mass movement of sweat and skin. Strobe lights overhead gave the scene an disco/sci-fi flair that only appealed to the rebellious teen scene. A group of four male bodies pulled away from the general mass and made their way toward the nearest bar, and the red-headed pair leaning against the edge. One of the gentlemen, if you want to dub him that, grinned widely, showing a jawful of gold teeth.
“Well, lookie here fellas! Got us a matched set.” He put an arm around the nearest girl’s shoulders. “Hey there, Red. What’d they call you, darlin’?” The other three pressed in closely, locking the two girls in the middle.
The two girls looked hardly old enough to be in high school, let alone a nightclub. The first girl looked at him, a goofyish grin on her pale face. Beside her, her twin also grinned stupidly. “Who, me?” the first one asked innocently. She pushed a lock of short, copper-colored hair behind her ear. “I’m Amp. This is Vibe. We’re the Sonic Sisters.”
The four guys erupted in loud, rude laughter, the first guy being loudest. He hit her shoulder, harder than was polite or even impolte. “Sonic Sisters? That’s rich! Sounds like a bad band name Ha ha!”
“Yeah, I know!” Amp cackled just as loud. “It’s a blast, ain’t it?” Suddenly the grin, and goofiness, was gone, replaced by something just short of pure hatred. Her voice turned to ice.“Wait ‘till you hear our music.”
A high-pitched squeal, like the feedback of a microphone but ten times worse, stabbed through the jerks’ heads. The guys slapped their hands over their ears, trying vainly to block out the screech, and screaming in pain. It only took a few seconds before they were on the floor, whimpering in pain. Nearby partiers looked on in surprise, but no one did anything to help, passing it off as drug use, or something of the like. Besides, they couldn’t hear the feedback squeal; only the four had to endure the torture. The twins shared an expressionless smirk. In sync they downed their shots, set the glasses down, and stretched. As Vibe began to walk away, Amp leaned down to Mr. Goldteeth.
“By the way,” she said loudly, though he could no longer hear, “I ain’t yer ‘darlin’.” Then she stood and followed her sister out. Vibe turned, arms crossed, to look at her. She tapped lightly with one finger on the gold armband around her upper arm.
>You're in a good mood tonight.<
Amp tilted her head slightly, and nodded. “Yeah, they got off easy.”
>Wanna dance?< Vibe tapped again.
Amp shrugged. “Nah, I’ll pass. Can’t hear anythin’ but the beat anyway. Let’s step.”
Vibe rolled her eyes and tapped a third time. >Some of us like to have fun, ya know.<
Amp conveniently ignored her and headed out the door.

Sipping on his drink as he sat at the bar, Kaz didn't feel like dancing. Instead he was checking out the scenery, spacificly, the two girls who had been approached by the annoying jocks. <They never change. If you've met one, you've met them all.> Noticing one of the girls was tapping on the counter, impatient or annoyed, he wasn't sure. Kaz was just about to stand up and remove the boys when they suddenly collapsed on the floor. Quirking an eyebrow as he watched the show. <That was good.> A smile playing accross his face. As he watched the girls head for the door, he paid for his drink and headed after them.
As he caught up with them he spoke, "Nicely done." Kaz held out his hand, "The name's Kaz."

The twins felt the sound of footsteps behind them, but kept moving, until someone addressed them. Vibe paused and turned to see who it was. Amp, not hearing the greeting, kept walking.
>Amp. We've got company.<
Vibe's lips never moved, but her sister heard her loud and clear. She stopped and turned. As one the pair eyed the newcomer, green eyes nearly glowing.
He was taller than they were by half a foot or more; not unusual since almost everyone was taller than they were. He looked too young for the silver hair he was sporting. And the red eyes? Definately not normal. Without turning their heads, the pair shared a sideways glance. Arms still crossed, Vibe tapped her armband.
>Whaddya think? Another mutant? This city's full of 'em.< Amp raised an eyebrow, her way of saying, "maybe." Vibe tapped again. Amp glanced at his outstretched hand, but made no move to shake it.
"Thanks. Name's Amp. She's Vibe." The pair turned to leave, in sync as always.

When the twins ignored his offered hand, Kaz shrugged and dropped it. "Thanks. Name's amp. She's Vibe." Quick, to the point, and didn't seem to give a crap bout him. <Oh well.> "Seeing as their ears are bleeding a bit, and from your names, I take it you two manipulate sound." Kaz kept step with the two girls. "Is this a normal thing for you two? Or was this a special occasion? Dropping those boys to the ground I mean."

Vibe nudged her sisters shoulder. >He asked if we manipulate sound.<
Amp turned to give the guy another appraising look as he fell into step beside them. "The names are a dead giveaway," she replied aloud, though it was directed mostly at her sister. Since she was looking at him this time, she was able to catch the last part of Kaz's question. One side of her mouth raised in a sly smile. "It depends on how annoying the guy is at the time." As usual, her voice held a veiled warning that most guys failed to pick up on.

"It depends on how annoying the guy is at the time." Kaz caught the warning and laughed. "Well, if I start reaching that point, just let me know. I'll tone it down a bit." He paused for a moment to let what he just said sink in, "No pun intended." He gave the twins the best disarming smile he could. "If you don't mind me asking, how do you feel about other mutants? Spacificly, using your powers on them?" His tone held a hint of sly curriousity and misjif(sp?), "Or your thoughts and position on humans?"

>Position on humans? What is he, a philosopher?< Vibe chuckled silently. Her sister's expression also reflected amusement. They paused at the corner, and turned to face Kaz fully. Amp placed her hands on her hips and tilted her head.
"Other mutants, huh? Again, depends on the annoyance factor. As for humans...."
The pair exchanged a glance, then fixed their stare on the street behind Kaz. A low rumble began to build, like the sound of an small earthquake. From around the corner a ripple ran through the pavement, as if it were made of cloth. Cars parked along the street were tossed into the air like someone shaking out a tablecloth, some landing on top of each other, others landing in the street traffic. Tires squealed as taffic goers tried to avoid the pile up.
Vibe yawned and flipped her long copper hair out of her face, then crossed her arms. Amp tilted her head the opposite way.
"They're always good for a little amusement. So, why do you ask?"

Kaz watched as the cars began jumping off the pavement, just to come crashing down. These girls had no problem showing off. A smirk played accross his face. "Not bad, not bad at all." "So, why do you ask?" With the light coming at Kaz, his red eyes soaked it up. The iris seemed to glow, and the red flow like falling blood. "I wanted to know if we three are of like minds on the subject." A man ran out of a nearby building, yelling and screaming about his car. He suddenly eyed the little group, a crowbar shaking in his hand. The man took a few slow steps towards Kaz and the twins. Never looking back, Kaz just looked into Vibe's eyes, and saw the man reflected in them. A dagger dropped into Kaz's hand seeming out of no where. With a small flick of his fingers the blade flew true, impaling the man in his forhead. The man fell dead, "They can be so stupid, almost enough to feel pity."

The twins heard the man long before they saw him; hard to miss with him belowing like a buffalo. Vibe snorted in irritation.
>Over-reacting much? It's just a car.<
"It used to be a car," Amp corrected, seeing the pile of scrap the man was yelling about. When he turned toward them, both twins eyes' narrowed. "Gimme a beat, sis."
>Gladly.<
Kaz, however, beat them to it. Amp's eyebrow raised in a mix of surprise and admiration as he dropped the man without turning.
"They can be so stupid, almost enough to feel pity."
"Effective," she remarked. Vibe, on the other hand, made a face showing her disapproval.
>Yeah, but too quick. Where's the fun in that?<
"Your definition of fun is warped."
>Like your's isn't, Miss Wrecking Ball?< Vibe motioned toward the traffic disaster before them with another flip of her hair.
"I call it job security. Think how many tow-truck drivers will be happy today."
Neither twin cared in the slightest if any eavesdroppers were confused by the one-sided conversation.

Kaz listened to Amp speak to seemingly no one, but the way she said 'used' told him she in fact was speaking to someone, when she spoke next he knew who it was. <Telepathy?> "Effective." He nearly missed as he was watching Vibe. "Thank you." <Fun? I never...> Then he saw it, Vibe was tapping slightly on an armband. He decided to test a theory.
Kaz used his inhuman speed, after Amp's last words, to get behind the girl. Before he stopped moving he had brought his hands back, as he stopped, he clapped his hands together, creating a loud *POP*.

Vibe narrowed her eyes as Kaz seemingly disappeared. She felt his footsteps move behind them, though she couldn't see him. The pop next to her ear was a surprise, but only in the sense that she wasn't expecting it. She turned casually, to look him in the eyes, her expression a bit more impressed.
>He's fast.<
"I noticed." Amp turned around, her green eyes looking a bit bored . "If you're trying to spook us, you're failing miserably," she stated dryly. Beside her, Vibe began snapping her fingers.

Kaz grinned slightly. "Oh no, I'm not trying to spook you. I was testing something." He looked directly at Amp. "You're deaf aren't you? Vibe reacted just a hair quicker than you did, about the ammount of time it would take to say a word or two." Kaz shrugged and took a step back, out of their personal area. "I don't know if you two have some sort of 'twin telepathy', though I doubt it, by the way Vibe keeps tapping on that armband. I noticed it when you were leaving the club as well. You," Looking to Amp, "Turned towards me just after your sister did. Normally this would seem 'normal', but in every other thing, the way you walk, the timing when you turn, stand up, it's all in total sync."

Amp nodded once in agreement to his first question. Vibe smiled a one-sided smirk. She stopped snapping her fingers when he moved out of their space.
>Ooooh, and quick too. I like.<
Amp untensed as well. He had backed off, so there was no need for another warning. "You're observant. Not too many have a chance to notice." She stressed the word chance. Living on the streets for a year had made the twin confident in their abilities. Although they realized his speed could pose a danger if he decided to become a pest, there was no reason to show any concern.

"You're observant." He caught the stressed word, but mostly ignored it. "It's what I do." Noticing the smirk on Vibe's face, he took it as a sign...peace, if that was the correct word. Kaz brought his hands together and took a plain silver band from his middle finger, and held it out to Vibe. "Here, a token of...friendship. It'd be less obvious than your armband. I know it probably clashes with your clothes, forgive me, I don't have a green one." Kaz held up his hands, silver was the only color other than pale flesh.
"I hope this isn't too personal, but why don't you talk?" Of corse he was speaking to Vibe.

Vibe accepted the ring gracefully and slipped it onto her thumb with a happy smile. Any jewelry she willingly accepted, even if the donor wasn't ready to give it.
>Oh yeah. Definately like this guy. Be better if it was gold, but yeah. I like.<
Amp rolled her eyes and snorted. "Looks like you managed to find her soft spot."
"I hope this isn't too personal, but why don't you talk?"
"No voice box," Amp answered for her. "I got the voice, she got the ears."
>And the good looks.<
"And the attitude."
>You're just jealous.<
"You wish."
Despite the words, the sisters obviously got along exceptionally well.
