The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"Nothing worthy of getting shot at. I'm really more interested in playing soccer than getting into fights like that. Which I'd lose."
Maya smirked and rubbed the back of her neck. She remembered Ami's death kicks all too well. The girl tended to get into a lotof trouble, but most it was not related to soccer at all...
>>"I see, we all have our paths. what is this soccer however?..."
She let Ami explain that one. Maya mostly did solitary sports and X-men training, so she really did not have much to contribute to... how on earth could the girl not know what soccer was?!
>>"I have a pet cat, she's all black with a nice white stripe going from nose to tip of tail, do either of you have pets?"
Well, at least Aura was making an effort for a human conversation. That had to count for something. Maya vaguely remembered the fact that her "cat" was actually a skunk. Go figure.
"I have a dog" she nodded "Her name is Angua."
As if by miracle, the name was followed by the sound of scampering paws on tiles, and the Irish wolfhound jogged into the living room via the kitchen, proceeding to tailwag stuff off the coffee table and rub herself all over Maya's legs in excitement. Talk about the hellhound.
What was soccer? What was soccer? What was soccer? Yes, the question had deserved being repeated three times. It was even worth being repeated a fourth time. What was soccer? It was times like these where one was tested. They could act the sheep. What was soccer? 'A game, idiot.' They could be snarky. 'I can't believe you don't know what soccer is.' They could be informative. 'This is what soccer is.' Or... they could be something else. She'd seen a webcomic once, where someone resolved to do just that whenever they encountered someone who ran into something they didn't know. Because showing someone what happens when you put Mentos in certain soda pops is so much more fun.
"I'll have to show you some time," Amelia said. Yeah. Better. She smiled a little. She wasn't even upset.
Aura searched for topics, and came to pets. She had a ... cat... that reminded Amelia of Pepe LePew. Or the kitty cat that had gotten a white stripe painted down its back in the cartoon, directly leading to it becoming the item of the skunk boy's love.
Maya didn't press the issue. Mentioned Angua, Angua appeared. Amelia shook her head with a laugh.
"I've got a dog, too. Although it's more my family's pet. Ozzie. He's a cutie." She smiled. Then... because the whole skunk issue got the better of her, she was compelled to ask. "Hey, Aura... you ever watch any Looney Tunes cartoons?"
She casually shirked Mirror's arm, and got a grip on her hand. She gave it a little squeeze.
Aura knew nothing of the sport. She had nothing to even try and recall. She let it go as the nicer of the two explained she would show her later. Aura decided if nothing else she would look it up to see if it were anything that could help her. "Maybe i have heard the word before" she said though she was pretty unsure. She talked to a lot of people at Sanctuary so it was possible, she mentally concluded.
She heard something running, toward them, and her immediately looked to track the source of the noise. Without elegance Her Aura surrounded her and a moment later Aura knew she had over reacted. She had formed no weapon's but the possible danger was only a dog. Her eyes looked over the happy looking dog, first focusing on the teeth then moving a long the body. With a breath, her Aura faded away. Dog's were not a concern to her in a fight and she was not expecting anything like that. Aura left her dietary habits out, recalling mama's typical reactions.
Aura knew what cartoons were, she had watched a few but they usually lost her quickly. "Not that i can remember, But then I do not recall anything before my powers emerged and even then..." she said letting it hang. for a moment. "They are unreliable" she said. It was an honest answer without going into the longer details of thing's. When she did watch TV it was usually to check to make sure she avoided to much publicity.

Maya was starting to feel sorry for Aura. Poor, confused little serial killer. Gah.
"So ya started early too huh" she interjected. Something she could actually relate to. It wasn't much, but it was enough to keep her from dragging Ami out of the danger zone and well away from Aura. How the hell did Miss T think this was a good idea?!...
At least Ami was holding up well. Or she was just oblivious. This was going to be one long afternoon.
A hand moved to scratch the dog's forehead and the scruff under its neck. As they talked, Amelia leaned forward, giving Angua some well-needed attention.
She opened her mouth to press about Looney Tunes, but Maya shifted the topic elsewhere... probably a good idea, actually. Best not to make the woman question the species of pet she kept. Someone was bound to make a stink.
They were talking about powers, so she chimed in. "My powers activated showing Mirror here out of the way of a moving police cruiser while we were fighting hordes of zombies on Halloween night." She glanced Aura's way. "I got to use a gun. It was pretty cool." She smiled to herself. If Maya was getting nervous, maybe that would help her feel less terrified. Or more. Which would be adorable.
"Maybe, I am unsure of my Actual Age so i can not say" she said honestly. Aura assumed it was early however. "I vaguely recall school when the fight that brought my powers out happened" she said but it was a very vague image in her mind. She had a feeling it was a school but no proof.
She turned to Amelia. "A Noble act, Last time i was here was because the Null lady struck me with her car. I am Unsure of....Mirriors powers but i would imagine she would have fared worse" she said honestly, Pausing at Mirrior's name, obviously Mutant inspired and different from the earlier given name as well. "A gun, on the cop or the Zombie? Are you a good shot?" To Aura this was a legitimate question, though she assumed the Zombie.
Back to Mirrior's original comment Aura replied again. "My powers emerged in a school fight, I meant a simple Punch to her back, instead my powers formed a sword and i cut her spine in two, she was dead before she consider screaming. " Aura said casually, as if she had just explained getting an A on a test. "How about you?" She asked Mirrior, curiosity clear on her face.
