The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Amelia staggered. Amelia stumbled. Amelia had escaped Kealey's clutches (if you could call those clutches) and somehow found her way to Gawain's room. Or Maya's. Or sometimes Megan's. It really didn't matter whose at the moment. She just needed a warm body to share her traumas with. Whoever it was would get the full brunt of them when she let them out. That'd be pretty cool for them, she supposed. Supposing she ever stopped being traumatized or giggling.
Knocking was so overrated these days. Real women slumped against their boyfriends doors and bonked the backs of their heads.
"This better be good..." Gawain rolled out of bed, landing on the floor with a thump. He was not hung over, per se... he was just... sleep deprived. The more time he spent with training and X-men stuff, with the occasional drink with friends, the more he felt like an adult in the mornings, and that usually sucked.
He glanced at the clock. Scratch that. It was not even morning. Whoever was out there better have a good reason...
"Minute..." he muttered, picking himself up and walking to the bathroom to hold his head under the cold water. Better. Drinking some before he turned the tap off, he meandered back to the door to open it.
At first he did not see anyone.
"Stupid bra... oh." there was another thump, and Ami was lying at his feet, looking up at him.
"Panda?..." he blinked, leaning down to look at her face "Are you drunk?..."
>> "Hey! I just saw Agnes and Rebecca being intimate. You got a sec?"
"Ugh, I'm sorry..." he sighed, baffled at Ami's giggling, especially since she was still lying on the floor "It's past midnight, Panda. I've got all the time in the world. C'mon."
Leaning down he caught her under the arms and lifted her up, carrying her into the room and kicking the door shut. This could have been romantic if Ami stopped giggling.
"So, what's the big deal?... And who's Rebecca by the way? Should I be worried?..."
Drag drag drag, she got dragged. She supposed that was okay. No, she wasn't drunk. Unless being scarred for life was a sort of drunk.
"Agnes's girlfriend." Amelia grinned. "I helped her fight a tyrannical teen in the sewers once and free a bunch of kids from his evil clutches. No big."
What was the big deal?
And worried? Why would Gawain be worried...?
"I guess 'worried for Kealey' would be a fair thing to be." She considered. "She was there, too. When..." And then Amelia started giggling again. Teehee. Tee. Hee.
>>"Agnes's girlfriend. I helped her fight a tyrannical teen in the sewers once and free a bunch of kids from his evil clutches. No big."
"You did whut?..." Gawain blinked, unceremoniously (but carefully) dropping his girlfriend on the bed. What did she get herself into this time?...
This was completely new. He was used to being the one who gets in trouble and then gets scolded by the girlfriend. Not the other was around...
Also, Agnes had a girlfriend?!
>>"I guess 'worried for Kealey' would be a fair thing to be. She was there, too. When..."
"Whut?..."
An image with three girls floated uninvited into Gawain's mind. Uh. Bad timing.
"The hell was Kealy doing with them?..." he blinked, then leaned closer, looking at Ami. Close up, she did not look (or smell) drunk. But she was still giggling. "Did ya take something?..."
"Kealey and I were doing something in the library, and then we weren't, and stumbled in on Agnes and Rebecca. Together. Do I need to draw you a picture?"
Why was he assuming she was drunk or on something? Wasn't this sort of thing something to giggle about! And maybe blush? Maybe.
"Things we really wouldn't want other people to see, Gawain. Don't make me walk a line. I'm not drunk or high or crazy. Just traumatized. I'm not used to walking in on people I'm not gonna say doing what. I guess you must be. Or are just being clueless. Heh."
She was on his bed. And it was late. Was he really stupid about this whole topic or not following her? Did she need to kiss him to get him to understand what she'd just seen? That was a really stupid... idea.
Some time between the words 'stupid' and 'idea' had passed through her mind she'd tugged him closer into a kiss. She held it for a moment, then set him free.
"Duh," she said. "Only better. Now let's just keep it vague and move on."
>>"Kealey and I were doing something in the library, and then we weren't, and stumbled in on Agnes and Rebecca. Together. Do I need to draw you a picture?"
"Yes please." He almost said that.
>>"Things we really wouldn't want other people to see, Gawain. Don't make me walk a line. I'm not drunk or high or crazy. Just traumatized. I'm not used to walking in on people I'm not gonna say doing what. I guess you must be. Or are just being clueless. Heh."
"You have no ide...umphf." Ami tugged him closer for some kissing. The whole thing was weird. She came in all giggly and... traumatized?... because she caught two of the Mansion students together in the library. She was right. Gawain was used to that. The Mansion was full of mutant teens and their hormones. Not to mention Megan walking in on their own make-out session the other day.
>>"Duh. Only better. Now let's just keep it vague and move on."
"Better?" he smirked, kissing her nose "Is that a challenge?... Wait, move on to what?"
>>"Dunno, and Why, what would I be challenging you about?"
"Well..." he grinned, before pulling her into another kiss. He lay down next to her, chuckling as he pulled back. "You tell me."
She was still giggly. Gawain tried to process what made her so, but there were too many things to distract him.
"It's no big deal Panda. People walk in on people all the time. Take me, for example. I use mirrors to teleport. Can ya imagine all the things I've seen?..."
Most of those could not be unseen. Unfortunately.
"Aaaanyway." he leaned down to kiss her again, taking longer this time "Better?"
She blushed and returned it. All of the kisses, actually. They seemed to be doubling each turn.
Also, sweet Jegus. He walked in on that sort of stuff all the time?
"Better?" She echoed, and arched an amused eyebrow. "You walk in on this sort of stuff all the time, huh? Then you must be..." Kiss. "Completely." Another kiss. She broke it and kept within a hair's breadth of his face, whispering. "Desensitized."
Desensitized by now, yup. But to what? And to who.
Her eyes, they did linger staring into his. It was quite the view.
>>"Better? You walk in on this sort of stuff all the time, huh? Then you must be... Completely... Desensitized."
"Mhm" he muttered, more occupied with the kisses than with the words. For some reason walking in on Agnes and Rebecca was responsible for Ami ending up in his bed. At night. He was not complaining, not one bit.
The giggling had stopped, and she was looking up at him. He looked back, and smiled before he leaned down to kiss her again, sliding a hand under her shirt. If this was a Maya night, she would have been more bold. As Gawain, he still needed permission for moves like that. Or he would get punched in the nose.
Oh myyyy... how had this little situation happened?
A sudden lame thought struck her as she arched that eyebrow. Kealey was aware that she was at the mansion. She may have momentarily escaped, but... the woman was still technically her ride.
Leaning back, Gawain pulled his hand back promptly (in fear of losing it) and touched her face. Being shot down was not new, but with Ami's entry just minutes before, something was up.
Yeah, Kealey was probably out and about, and yeah, that was risky, and yeah, she would probably show up in all of five seconds, but... that wasn't why she'd stopped him.
Nope. There was a much more important reason she'd stopped him.
"Do you have a c--". She was cut off. Someone had knocked on the door. Amelia sighed and glanced that way. Oh, god dammit. Amelia kept her voice to a whisper as she continued. "An escape route. Can you take me to the nearest reflective surface to your room that isn't obvious from your door or the hall? And keep your emotions down. She senses hormones."
