The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The flush on her cheeks was still dying down from the cook's joke, when she slid into her seat at the table. Two plates before her, one before Saph... and now she was learning how to use chopsticks.
"So... like this ri-- oh, darnit!" Fumbling with the blasted things, she tried again. By the third time of either dropping one into her food, or nearly stabbing herself in the face, she thought she had it. "Okay.. I think I--" One of the sticks flew across the table, bounced off the wall, and vanished. Maybe she'd been holding it wrong... and perhaps with just a tad too much pressure... Groaning to herself, she set the other stick aside and held Sloth at bay from eating her food, while Saph flagged a waitress down. Her cheeks were all flushed again from embarrassment, which only made her want to sink further into her seat.
"Well, well." Drawled a voice, one the Greek would have remembered if she'd been paying any attention while in the Salon. "Isn't that cute... Can't even use chopsticks."
The color of her face darkened, and Andrea turned her chin to see none other than the woman who had been about to cut Saph's hair, before they'd fled. What was she doing here?... maybe it was her lunch, or something.
"You know, I'm sure they have forks up by the Chef. If you ask nicely I'll bet he'll give you one."
The woman purred the words at her, and for some reason Andrea felt her hackles rise. Something about the lady just seemed to set her on edge, all of the sudden. "Uh... right, I shall do that, then.." Before Saph could stop her, she wiggled from her seat and scurried away. She was eager to leave that woman far behind, and hoped that she would be gone when she returned.
After watching the green one walk off, Vanessa turned a sickly smile Saph's way. "Hello again, handsome." Without waiting to be invited, she stole Andrea's seat, plopping her chin in her well manicured hand, while she drew lazy littler circles on the table top with a finger. "Wow, is she going to eat all of that? She's going to pack on some serious pounds."
Man, he was a catch. She decided to cut right to the chase, instead of scooting around the issue. Especially since the freak could return any moment. "What say you and I get out of here? Surely you could do way better than that little thing, hmm?" She reached over, attempting to snatch one of his hands in her own.
Andrea stumbled back at just that moment, pausing a little ways away from the table to gawk at what was going on. Had... had she missed something in such a short amount of time? "Um... there were no forks... over there..."
With a sigh, Vanessa stood once more, and used her superior height to tower over the green woman. Some of the snakes in her hair stirred, the large white one in particular, but she wasn't threatened. "Listen, honey. You should just run along and find some nice mutated fellow to hang all over. You mutants think you're so superior to us, and then you try and steal all of our men for yourself."
The shocked Greek before her didn't know what to do. What was she supposed to say to such an accusation? She could point out the fact that Saphirus was not, in fact, a human, or that she had no such plans to covet all of the men for herself... or even that she didn't think herself any better than anyone else... but she wasn't exactly given the time.
Vanessa, spurred on by the Gorgon's silence, smirked cruelly and leaned in closer. "No matter how hard you cling to us normal looking people, you're still always going to be a disgusting freak of nature. How someone like him could ever bear to be seen with you, I'll never know." She was so intent on picking the poor woman before her to shreds, that she barely noticed the form of someone else step close.
Andrea didn't notice, either. She was too busy fighting back tears, while attempting to figure out what had just happened....
Saphirus said nothing as all of this played out before him... He was too shocked... Who the hell was this girl? No, that didn't matter. What mattered is who she apparently thought she was... And apparently she thought she was someone who could walk in on his perfectly amazing date and talk a load of bulls@#^ about how the woman he loved was a freak, and he was better off with her.
His look of surprise slowly turned into one of anger. He... he wanted to punch her... How could he talk about Andrea like that? How could she try and take his hand afterward? One hit and she'd drop like a sack of bricks... he knew that... but no, he couldn't hit a girl, even if she was a raging B#^^&. Instead, without a thought behind it, he picked up his plate, still full of food, and turned it upside down over her head. A gasp of shock was turned into a gurgle when he, once again, with blank mind, grabbed his drink, and splashed it in her face... He did the same with Andrea's drink...
It was then he noticed there was a fourth person approaching... Oh jees... It was the cook. He'd seen, and come to investigate... Now, there were goin to get kicked out for the mess on the floor... Damnit, what a mess...
"He beat me to it, huh? Ma'am... you're very messy. Please leave my restaurant at once." The cook waved a tentacled appendage at the woman, and two servers came to escort her out. "I'm terribly sorry you two... I heard everything... Some people just don't understand the concept of a happy couple... This meal's on my, alright? By the way... I own this place... Name's Harvey." He gave a wide smile, and then turned to get back to his duties.
"... Thanks... Er... Oh god, Andrea, are you alright?" He stepped forward to pull her into an embrace. "Don't listen to anything that woman said... She's just a complete bi... bad person. A stupid, and bad person."
It would take a while for things to calm down. He had to go through and get another plate, the waiters brought them more water, and they enjoyed a pretty darn good meal... On the house, too! "You know... I think we should come back here some time... Actually pay, you know? Wachu think?"
"... Thanks... Er... Oh god, Andrea, are you alright? Don't listen to anything that woman said... She's just a complete bi... bad person. A stupid, and bad person."
Sniffling into his chest, she wasn't able to properly thank the Harvey for stepping in.... and, well, she wasn't sure if she could, even if she didn't have her face pressed into someone's chest. Having someone, a perfect stranger, accuse you of things like that, and then call you a monster on top of it all, was just... crippling.
"..I-I am alright, Saphirus..."
She wasn't, of course. Not really. When she sat back down to eat her food she spent a good deal of time picking at her noodles. Her appetite had all but vanished. Saph had to leave to go get more food, which left her alone at the table, painfully aware that other people in the room were glancing at her from time to time. Not in a bad way, of course... In a "Oh, that poor thing" kind of way.
Still... it didn't help the mood that had befallen her. When Saph came back she attempted to suck it up, slap on a smile, and move on with things. There was no use crying over spoiled milk, or however that saying went. After a while she managed to eat the majority of her food, too. It helped that she'd feel terribly guilty for wasting the cook's hard work if she hadn't.
"You know... I think we should come back here some time... Actually pay, you know? Wachu think?"
"I would like that, Saphirus. very much." She squeezed his hand as they exited, ready to continue shopping or whatever else it was they still had planned to do. All the while attempting to keep her mind off of all the terrible things that woman had said. "What shall we do now, uhm... babe...?"
Geez... that sounded strange coming out of her mouth.
