The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kitra had just a few minutes ago found herself at Sanctuary's Doors. Feeling a tad battered, ok, actually a lot battered, she managed to get to the Infirmary. Once there one of the lovely nurses there made Kitra lay down on one of the many beds there and stared at her, looking up and down for a good minute.
"My dear, as I can see you are new here, we try not to see people more then once a month or less if you can help it."
While the nurse's smile was genuine, her glare was still icy and seemed probing.
"You currently have a bruised sternum and a few skin bruises. And you also seem to be missing some critical information in your head."
And Kitra blinked, then blinked again. 'Say, what? Missing information, well that would explain the loss of her original mutation. Well, maybe.' Bruised bones and skin she was expecting. Kitra sullenly took the medication that this lovely golden haired nurse handed her and gulped them down with the water she was provided. About a minute passed before she looked up at the nurse, "How long is it going to take for me to heal?"
"Depends on you, I'm guessing you shouldn't feel as battered once you get some rest. And I mean proper rest."
With that, the nurse drew a curtain around Kitra's bed and walked off. Kitra sighed and stared up at the ceiling, not sleepy, and not exactly in pain either. Whatever the nurse had given her had helped the pain pass, at least for the moment.
Abyss walked into the room and immediately started to take off his shirt, He didn't like being here. He had no love of needles. That came from growing up in a laboratory that studied his genetic make up. It wasn't a fear of the needle itself but the twisted crap that place tended to put in them. He wouldn't likely have to deal with any needles, as the doctor seemed to think his muscles would hold the bone in place enough to heal. they were astonished to see him at all. His brothers had gotten to Otis first and the old man had simply healed them all, but now he needed time to recover his abilities, apparently he wasn't the healer he used to be. He didn't blame Otis. It was just damned inconvenient.
The nurse that had just pulled the curtain shut walked over to Abyss and seemed to admire the muscle structure doe a moment. There was just so much more to those brothers than the average man, She then concentrated on his left ribcage. "Your Ribs are setting as we thought they would. Do you need anything for it?"
Abyss shook his head. " I was just coming in, to make sure it was all setting as it should. How are things going today?"
"Slow." The Nurse stated. "Just a fresh face, healing up a bit."
The red man nodded and looked contemplatively toward the closed curtain. He wondered momentarily if he had met the new arrival.
Kitra heard noise as someone came into the Infirmary and slightly groaned, there went her sleep time as she had just about fallen asleep. She heard the nurse talking to someone and sat up wincing as that had hurt, sitting up that is. But she was almost positive she had heard Abyss's voice! One she hadn't heard in quite some time. Kitra pulled back her curtain and her eyes lit up as she spotted Abyss. "Well, hey there Abyss. What brings you in here?" She was smiling as this day had started with a bright point and now she was seeing the original Big Red, possibly, it could easily be one of his brothers. She wasn't quite sure.
Abyss raised an eyebrow, “Hello Kitra, I am getting my ribs checked on, Someone managed to hit me hard enough to make it necessary.” Slight embarrassment lit his features, as if it was something he might have been surprised he admitted so easily. “ I’m fine, What brings you in here?” Abyss pulled his shirt of his head and down as the fabric attempted to stretch to a capacity that would fit his muscles. He walked over and laid the back of his hand on her forehead. His skin was warm to the touch, They tended to put off a lot of body heat.
“Not a fever, I see.” He looked at her, concern showing through. The compassion would seem misplaced to some behind the crimson eyes that held it. To those that knew him, would know that empathy frequented his rough visage.
“Hello Kitra, I am getting my ribs checked on, Someone managed to hit me hard enough to make it necessary.”
She returned the eyebrow raise, 'Abyss, get injured??? Holy crap that's scary.' Kitra shuddered wondering what type of mutant could have actually hurt him. She smiled up at Abyss and replied to his question. "No, not a fever, though I think it would be hard to tell with your body temperature. A bruised sternum and some bruises on my arm and a bruised ego."
A frown replaced her smile and annoyance crept into her voice, " I ran into a mutant that decided senseless killing and not answering my question was fun." Now embarrasment showed red on her cheeks, "He made me angry and I started a fight, one I couldn't finish. He wasn't faltering and had this fricking energy bolts that packed a punch." Now there was an outright look of disgust on her voice and anger laced her words. "He said his name was Mr. Albatross, I think he also called himself Forte."
Kitra sighed and looked up at Abyss, she'd never managed to make him angry. He was rather formadable and she spoke again with curiousty, "And what happened, who managed to get a blow on you that actually hurt you?" Then remembering her fight with Forte, she said with shame in her voice, "Also, I hightailed it out of there when I realized that he wasn't slowing down at all. First time I've ran from a fight in years."
Abyss grinned. “ nah, people are feverish if they don’t feel cold to me typically.” He moved his hand away from her forehead. “ And then raised an eyebrow telling her he wanted to know about how she acquired such bruised parts.
“energy bolts huh…” he was pretty sure he knew where this was going. “ I’ll have a talk with Forte, though are you sure he didn’t have a reason for killing whoever he killed?” It was odd to say, but he would give him the benefit of the doubt she did say she started the fight.
“There is a gentleman called the Judge, who takes kinetic energy and pumps it right back out, so every time he is hit, he soaks up the power and swings with it again… so essentially I busted my own ribcage. That said I will murder him if I ever come across him, Mars has given me some advice on how to do just that.” “There’s no shame in running when you need to, it’s the smart move, if you live another day, you can find a way to make them pay.”
Kitra shrugged, "To be honest, it wasn't him killing that bothered me. It looked to be an anti-mutant group. It was more so him not answering my question and, well, taunting me." She had the grace to look shame-faced before speaking again. "The Judge huh? Not someone I would want to tangle against." Kitra had a nasty image of her being torn apart by paper, not pretty.
She looked up at Abyss again, she hadn't realized she had looked down. True, running away normally meant living another day to get revenge or just keep going. But it also reminded her of her being striped of her original mutation. Simply because she hadn't ran away. "Better to be bruised then dead," her voice was quiet and got even quieter as she spoke her next words. "I've done that once, lost my ink and my powers, now I can only manapulate paper." Why she was telling Abyss this, well, she felt she could trust him and her words portrayed her thoughts.
“Oh, I wasn’t prepared and he had just attacked Aura, I wasn’t thinking strait, he is a deadman if he crosses my path ever again.” Abyss unfolded his arms and leaned over gently encompassing her in a hug. “Paper control is no small thing Kitra, do you know how much paper is in this world?I dare say there are few places that you could go in this city where a pile of it isn’t waiting on you. If you want help making the people who did it pay, just say the word, but don’t look down on your skills.”
He kept her in the safety of his arms until she seemed properly comforted.
Small tears welled up in her eyes as Abyss gave her giant hug full of gentleness. She hugged back, "Thanks Abyss. I actually don't know who managed to off me. What I do know is that I was lucky enough to be found by a healer and brought back. Not sure how she managed it."
Kitra wiped her tears out of her eyes and patted one of Abyss's muscular arms. She opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by a new nurse coming in to the Infirmary. This jet black haired beauty made her way over to her bed where her and Abyss had just shared an awesome hug, which was very helpful for Kitra. As she had been feeling down in the dumps and Abyss hugs were a wonderful cure for that!
"Alright you two. Hold still while I heal you both up. The new nurse placed her hands on Abyss and Kitra and closed her eyes for about a minute before removing them. "Abyss, you are good to go. And Kitra, I fixed everything physical, can't fix whatever is wrong up here." She tapped her head and smiled at them both before walking back out of the Infirmary. Of course not allowing them to complain to her how much her healing had stung.
Kitra had gasped as the new nurse used her powers to heal her. Youch! It felt like needles and raw energy had been seared through the places she had been hurt. After the nurse had removed her hands, the pain quickly faded. Which was a great thing, and also made Kitra hope she didn't get hurt too often in the near future. Or at least be around when that nurse was on duty.
"So, um, now that we're healed," Kitra's stomach growled audibly. She turned red and continued, "Guess I'm hungry any suggestions?"
“Venus, I’ve told you once andI’ll tell you again, no hitting on patients and believe it or not the nurses have better things to do than play doctor.” She then laughed. "Sorry Abyss I’m used to that troublemaker stopping by.”
Abyss nodded solemnly, “If you ever find out.” Abyss shrugged a bit. He didn’t need to finish that thought out loud. “I’m glad to hear it Kit, do you have a place? You know you are always welcome around here, though we will have to settle things between you and Mr. Albatross.”
The nurse then told them to hold still. Abyss bit his lip, making it turn purplish for a moment until it was done. “Thank you, Joy.” Abyss stated gratefully.
“For what its worth, I don’t think you need any fixing.” He smiled as he held out a hand to balance against while getting off the medical bed. “ mmm, there is always the cafeteria, but if you wanted to do something a bit fancier we can go grab whatever.”
Kitra used Abyss arm to balance herself while getting out of that evil bed. "I do have a place of my own, though it wasn't used very much. I was normally at Kabal Headquarters." She headed towards the door after grabbing her bag from next to her now empty bed. "Questions I'm briming with can wait till we hit the cafeteria for food. And thanks, its good to hear someone say I don't need fixing." She exited the infirmary with Abyss not too far behind.
