The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Finally. Twyla stepped into the double room that she was going to be sharing with a student and breathed a sigh of relief. Since arriving back at the Mansion the awkward ball had not stopped rolling until the blonde had reunited with her ex-boyfriend and met his new girlfriend in one fell swoop. While the young woman knew that things could have gone a lot worse than they had she was still a bit tired from the whole thing. That was a lot of emotion to pack into one office and some paperwork. The young woman shook her head, silently willing for the mixed bag of emotions to recede a bit so she could clean herself up.
Part of the room was obviously occupied—Twyla had chosen to have a roommate. She was pretty sure that the sheet had said the other girl’s name was Rebecca or something like that. She’d been too preoccupied with dealing with her wayward powers and small talk to really pay attention. All Twyla really knew was that her roommate was female and not all that younger than herself. The young woman was optimistic about how things in their room would go—at least she hadn’t been placed with an elementary aged child or something. Hopefully the girls would have some common ground.
It wasn’t like Twyla didn’t have experience sharing a room anyway—she had three older sisters and two brothers that for several years all lived in a four bedroom house. It wasn’t until she was fifteen that Twyla got a room to herself after all her sisters had moved out. Sharing a space with someone would be familiar and at this point familiar was comforting. Also, while moving back into her old room was an option, she had no desire to relive any memories that the single would contain. No, even if she didn’t know her roommate sharing a room was the better choice.
Twyla passed through the space without really paying attention to décor or personal touches. What she needed was the bathroom mirror—there was no way she was going to meet someone new looking like she’d just gotten off a plane and was frazzled to boot. Dropping her gray backpack on the tile floor she rummaged for a washcloth and her hairbrush. The only things she owned in New York were the things she’d packed in her bag. The rest was coming by boxes as soon as she called her parents to confirm her arrival. It wasn’t a new feeling to only own what was on her back—in fact, living with so little was almost becoming second nature to Twyla. The jury was still out on whether that was a good thing or a bad thing.
It only took a few moments for her face to be cleared of all traces of tears and her hair to be tied back in a messy ponytail. She looked presentable once more. Folding up the washcloth, she set it next to the faucet to dry where it wouldn’t dampen the counter. One last glance at her reflection told her that she didn’t need to be in the bathroom anymore so Twyla grabbed her pack and headed for the unclaimed bed, removed her green leather jacket, and perched on the edge of the mattress. She’d have to pick up sheets the next day so she’d have something a little nicer than the school-issued ones.
It didn’t feel right to start unpacking her things before she met her roommate, so the blonde settled herself to wait.

It was a warm spring day, and Rebecca, like any other twenty year-old girl, was contributing to the love in the air. She was in shorts and a tanktop, enjoying the warm sun on her exposed skin. She was done with an early shift of work and walking arm in arm with Agnes.
The sun was warming her up, but her girlfriend was the one who was bringing her to a simmer. There was something about Agnes’s outfit that… raised her awareness. Maybe it was something about her collarbone, or those bare shoulders, or maybe the way those jeans clung to her hips. Something was causing her stride to gain speed in an attempt to get back to the mansion and the privacy of a room as quickly as possible.
In the relative safety of the halls, Rebecca was doing her best to control her boiling post-teenage hormones, but she was planting occasional kisses on Agnes’s cheek or neck. She wanted to give Agnes subtle hints to her mood, which might has well have been telegraphed on billboards.
Finally reaching her room, Rebecca pushed Agnes up against the door with uncharacteristic aggression, locking lips and fumbling with the door handle until she triumphed over the basic contraption, pushing her girlfriend into the room—
And quickly noticing a girl sitting on the room’s empty bed.
Her lips pried away from her girlfriend really fast, and the heat she was developing outside paled in comparison to the heat in her scarlet face. ”Um, yes. Ye’re… mah new roommate, yes?” Way to go, Slutty McSpaz. Solid first impression. ”Sorry, Ah’m Rebecca. This…” she looked at her girlfriend for signs that she was not the only one awkward and embarrassed, ”Es Agnes.” Well, if she scared her new roommate away, she would have her single back, at least.
Normal day, Spring day. For once Agnes was actually enjoying the Spring weather. Normally it irritated her because all of her insects were around this time of the year but now that she was getting a firmer grip on her powers, she was handling things just fan. She rarely had occurences where her powers spiraled out of control and there were sudden infestations. It was almost like they were actually listening to her and allowing her to have a normal life. Maybe they figured that a happy queen was a safe queen?
Whatever.
For now, Agnes refused to think too much about it. Instead she decided to hang out with her girlfriend at work and walk her home. Unfortunately…there was just something in the air. Maybe Agnes was far more sensitive to her insect-like-ness than she thought because, for whatever reason, one glance at Rebecca and the insect queen wanted to melt every last time.
Arm in arm, they strolled through mansion, looking like a young couple in infected with the desires and passions that tend to follow the season. Agnes grinned and giggled every time Rebecca stole a kiss against her cheek or neck. In response the young runaway had gently placed her hand against her redhead lover’s lower back, running her fingers against the girl’s waist. The hall seemed like it stretched on for an eternity, but before Agnes knew it, she spotted the familiar door.
But before Agnes could so much as offer her sweet lass a kiss, the fiery Scot displayed far more aggression than she had ever witnessed before. Before she knew it, Agnes was pressed back against the door to Rebecca’s room, a silly grin on her face as the young Scot leaned up and stated to kiss her deeply. The only thing Agnes could do was respond in kind.
Iridescent wings fluttered as Agnes shared in this passionate kiss. Rebecca fumbled with the door knob and as much as Agnes wanted to help to get the door opened faster, she was simply too preoccupied with the tender kisses of her girlfriend.
But finally, there was success! She felt the door give way and Agnes giggled momentarily as they entered the room…
And spied a blonde sitting on the empty bed that usually tended to be empty in Rebecca’s room. Lips still pressed to Rebecca’s, the young runaway awkwardly peeled herself away from her sweet girlfriend and blinked in a confused manner. Who was this person?
>> ”Um, yes. Ye’re… mah new roommate, yes? Sorry, Ah’m Rebecca. This…Es Agnes.”[/color]
“Um, yeah,” Agnes responded. “I-I’m Agnes. I’d shake your hand but I currently have my hands in this beautiful woman’s shirt. And I think I’ll stop that right about now…” Agnes continued as she unwound her hand from Rebecca’s bare stomach, blushing fiercely in embarrassment, and firmly held them behind her own back, trying to look as casual as possible.
Gawd, this was so embarassiiiiiiiiing… Agnes thought. She awkwardly smiled at the young blonde, and straightened up, trying to not look so needy and pouncy on own girlfriend. How could she forget something like this? There couldn’t be anything more embarrassing then barging into a room, a flurry of kisses and gropes, and being introduced to a complete stranger! How could she forget that Rebecca’s roommate was moving in today?
…
Wait a minute…Rebecca never TOLD her she was getting a roommate! Agnes, mouth a gap a little in surprise, turned to Rebecca. Oh, she was SO going to get a tickling later!!

Twyla heard a thunk on the door of the double room. She’d been thinking about whether she wanted to go shopping that evening for the basics or if she’d go the next morning. Her weighing of the pros and cons of just letting herself settle in was disrupted when she jumped at the noise. What on earth? The young woman tensed up, hands gripping the mattress. A moment later the door open and everything was explained.
Her roommate (which girl she was, the blonde was unsure) and her…girlfriend/friend/friend with benefits/whatever were engrossed in a make-out session that made the girl on the bed blush. There were types of physical affection that were meant for display in front of others—hand holding, kisses on the cheek, G-rated stuff and then there was the type of affection that was only meant to go on in an empty bedroom. Obviously her roommate had forgotten that she was no longer alone in her living quarters.
While the girl on the bed wasn’t squeamish about other people kissing and things like that it still made her embarrassed, like she’d caught them in the act even though she’d been the one…walked in on? In any case, the moment passed quickly and a general feeling of sheepishness entered the room. Twyla was pretty sure that she was going to implode if she had to take anymore awkwardness that day. A choice was made to play it cool, the feelings rolled off Twyla. Her blush receded. A soft smirk spread across her lips.
The girl with the red-ish hair was her roommate it seemed. Twyla was surprised by her accent. An eyebrow rose. The blonde stood up as both girls introduced themselves. She’d been right about the name ‘Rebecca’. ” I’d shake your hand but I currently have my hands in this beautiful woman’s shirt. And I think I’ll stop that right about now…” The twenty year old couldn’t help but let out a laugh at that. “No worries.” She replied, hands held in front of her. She giggled. This was awful but funny, she’d have to tell her brother about it when she called home. Nate would get a kick out of how her afternoon went. First Gawain and meeting Ami, now her new roommate and her roommate’s…whatever. It was like the universe wanted Twyla to die of embarrassment or laugh uncontrollably.
The smirk was still on her face when Twyla spoke again: “Twyla Ashby.” She held out her hand to Rebecca first. Do you guys need a room? She wanted to tease them but…that might not be the best first impression. “Good to meet you, Rebecca and Agnes.” Brown eyes flicked between the two. “Um…so are you two…?” A quizzical facial expression. She didn’t want to assume anything about their relationship but it seemed like an important detail. Rebecca having a girlfriend could change the dynamics of their living together. Better to get everything sorted on the table as soon as possible.

>> “Um, yeah. I-I’m Agnes. I’d shake your hand but I currently have my hands in this beautiful woman’s shirt. And I think I’ll stop that right about now…”
Rebecca felt a hand slide away from her body and out of her shirt. Agnes was handling the situation awkwardly and almost humorously; hopefully her girlfriend's charm would salvage the situation, and her new roommate's laughter helped ease the tension. Rebecca released her held breath, and the threat level broadcast on her cheeks fell from blood red to hot pink.
>> “Twyla Ashby. Good to meet you, Rebecca and Agnes."
Rebecca approached Twyla and shook her hand; she considered going for a hug, but given their introduction, she worried something that familiar could unsettle the poor girl. "Et's nice tae meet ye. Yer name es very pretty." Rebecca liked names that were unique, and she was sure this was her first Twyla.
>> “Um…so are you two…?”
It took a moment for the question to register. "Huh?" Rebecca turned behind her and looked at Agnes, realizing the meaning of the unended question. "Oh, yes! Um, Agnes es mah girlfriend." Hopefully knowing that Rebecca was not just some floozy taking back random girls would improve Twyla's first impression of her.
There was the one worry, though-- that Twyla might not be all too fond of ladies loving ladies. "That doesnae bother ye, does it?" Before the girl could answer, she hastily added, "An' Ah promise that whole, er, door thing wornt happen again." The very thought embarrassed Rebecca, reminding her of how uncharacteristically out of control she was.
Agnes was still completely embarrassed after everything that had happened. She couldn’t believe that she had just stumbled into a room, making out with her girlfriend and did so in front of a new roommate. That was completely uncalled for and made the insect queen’s cheek raise to a fierce red. How she must have looked to the new girl that was now standing and trying to look as polite as possible. Agnes was mortified, but she really could not help smirking at the situation. It really was humorous.
>> “Twyla Ashby.”
Agnes smiled as she gave her a meek little wave. Well, if anything, Agnes was not going to be easily forgotten. It must be hard to forget a girl sucking face with another with insect wings all aflutter. God…to be remembered like that. Maybe it was not so much of a good thing.
>> “Good to meet you, Rebecca and Agnes…Um…so are you two…?”
“Lovely to meet you,” the runaway said with a smile. But as the question continued, Agnes turned to Rebecca. She would rather let her girlfriend actually reveal the news, especially since she was going to be the girl’s roommate.
>> "Huh? Oh, yes! Um, Agnes es mah girlfriend…That doesnae bother ye, does it? An' Ah promise that whole, er, door thing wornt happen again."
Her eyes crystal blue eyes turned back to Twyla as she waited for her answer. Her fellow students tended to be very understanding about this sort of thing, but that did not mean that she and Rebecca did not receive the odd look or two, or a snicker from the some of the more immature boys in the school. But this as going to be different; in normal cases they could simply walk away and deem the person too close-minded to understand. But this girl was going to be Rebecca’s roommate! Getting along was one of those things that was required, or so she hoped.
While she waited, Agnes wondered how hard of an adjustment this was going to be. Agnes already had Gina for a roommate so her own room was rarely a place that they could find privacy. Rebecca’s room was always the sanctuary for that. But now that she was going to have a roommate, that meant that Agnes too would probably be seeing the girl on a regular basis. So far she seemed nice enough. She hoped that this first impression would turn out to be a correct one…
