The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

As Tasean answered Alex's question about where the child might be hiding, he slowly stood up and started to think about the types of places where this kid could hide within this area... and the list was growing a bit large... larger then Alex would've wanted it to be since it would make it hard for the two of them to look for the child. "Hm... indoors and not on the ground... any building with a second floor would fit that bill, and there are at least six buildings or more in this area that have much more then two floors." Alex commented as he started to grow frustrated himself, and started to walk around in a circle as he thought.
Alex then came to a stop and glanced at a nearby building with boarded up windows. "Hm... if I were rather depressed, didn't want to be found, and wanted to stay off the ground... I would pick an abandoned building." Alex stated as he thought out loud and walked towards the building and then around the corner. Bingo. "Well, someone has entered this building recently. The boards that were covering this window have been pried off recently." Alex stated as he walked over to a nearby window that was at ground level. The pile of rotting wood that was on the ground in front of it had a small crowbar next to them that was very rusty, and it looked like the crowbar was so rusty that it had started to break while it was being used to pry off the boards. Alex gave the boards a small push with his foot, and found a couple of blood drops on the ground... and they were fresh. "Whom ever did this hurt themselves in the process." Alex mumbled, and looked over at the open window.
With a shrug, he turned and looked over at Tasean, wondering if they should take a look inside. "Shall we take a look inside or no?"

Tasean was conflicted and it showed on his face. As much as he wanted to find his young charge, there were rules, and they were in place for a reason. As a social worker Tasean knew he was not to enter any building, even an abandoned one, without some sort of police escort. And whatever Rook was doing to those stuffed animals, he still didn't qualify. Also, in this area, there was no telling who was in the building. The last thing the young social worker wanted was to go into the building and end up defending himself for a drug crazed maniac.....again. Once was just the number of times you needed to live through that type of predicament to drive the lesson home.
"No, just hold on" Tasean told Rook before pulling out his cell phone and dialing a few numbers. He turned away from his companion and walked away a couple of steps, so his conversation couldn't be overheard. He reported the missing boy, and the location of the empty building they were at to the police, and requested assistance. Of course, the police being who they were told him it would be sometime tomorrow before anyone was free. Tasean was quite sure it had more to do with the fact that he, and his client were mutant, more than it had to do with scheduling conflicts. He sighed and hung up the phone, and then turned back to Rook.
"No, we won't be going in. I don't want to frighten him into doing some stupid if he is there, and if he isn't I don't want to disturb whoever is. I'll come back tomorrow with some of NYC's finest and check it out" he informed the stuffed animal slicing mutant.
After Alex had asked Tasean if they were going into the building, he was starting to wonder if that was a good think to ask or not, because it wasn't until after he had asked that question that he realized that if it wasn't the kid that was in this building, Alex and Tasean would have to defend themselves against whomever was in there... and quite frankly Alex didn't want to hurt anyone at the moment. So when Tasean told Alex to hold on, Alex agreed to wait without any protests and waited while Tasean was on the phone.
When Tasean said that they weren't going because he didn't want to disturb whom ever else might be in there, Alex nodded in agreement. "Very well. You're the one who has more experience in this area." Alex stated, then looked around, hoping to maybe see a set of vines sticking out of a window in an attempt to capture what little sunlight was coming into this alley, but he didn't see any. With a sigh and a shrug, he turned back to Tasean. "So I guess this means you no longer need my help?"
