The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

2011 MRO Survey Results
As of November 2011, MRO had 47 active players handling 79 characters. Of these, 30 answered the player survey. The following data is based on those 30 players and their 60 characters.
First off, the RL stuff! Who our players are.

Girls playing girl characters: 21 Girls playing boys: 11 Boys playing boys: 23 Boys playing girls: 6[/ul] The average MRO writer is 23 years old:
47% of MROers have at least one college degree. Only two MROers are currently in high school, and I doubt you could pick them out of the crowd. Let's hear it for a mature player base!
Trivia. Most popular college majors: English-y (6), Education (5), Art-y (4), and Com Sci/Math (3). Of our working folks, teachers/instructors rule the site with 5 iron fists. They're followed by folks in IT, people actually making a living doing art, and deli workers at 2 each. Coolest job on MRO: mermaid. Argue with that, and risk a tail-slapping.
Where we're from:
24 players (80%) are from the USA:
6 players (20%) are from elsewhere:
What we speak:
"ASL" = "American Sign Language." Omitted: Native English. Because... yeah. Also the joke answers, or this graph wouldn't have fit on the screen.
How we gussy up our accounts:
Remember: you can preview skins on the MRO Skindex!
How Insane We Are Many Characters We Play:
Trivia.77% of players found MRO through Google. This is completely unrelated to any sacrifices done upon its holy Alter of Search by the Mod Team. Such sacrifices are further unrelated to the graph below.
Where do they go? The mystery of the disappearing newbs...
Plenty of us survive: two years and one month is the median time a player has been active on MRO. Long-term MROers represent!
Trivia. No one who joined in January, from 2005-2011, has managed to stay active. 'Tis the dark frozen month of DOOM.
Just how addicted are we?
Average unique visitors per day: 87; Max: 233 (on July 24); Min: 2 (on July 28). There was a party that day, and two people weren't invited.
Average pageviews per day: 934; Max: 3,061 (on August 15); Min: 2 (you guessed it: on July 28). Seriously, did the Proboards servers light on fire that day?
Average new threads per day: 3; Max: 14 (on August 8); Min: 1 (on April 2). People, in the past year, there has not been a single day when we haven't had a new thread get started. That's awesome.
Average new posts per day: 44; Max: 156 (on August 9); Min: 1 (on April 22). This graph only counts replies, not thread-starting posts.
Trivia. The first and last people to take this survey were both Mods. One was a sneaky sneak who took the survey a day before it was even posted you-know-who-you-are, the other was so late to the game that the survey had to be re-opened just to get his data, a day after it closed.
Next up: the IC Stuff! Our characters.

Trivia.Three people messed up their own character's information. One messed up the birthday, one the height and place of birth, and one very special rock head screwed up her his gender. <3
Where our characters are from:
45 characters (75%) are from the United States:
15 characters (25%) are from other countries:
Trivia.Seven characters are from the same place their players are from.
What our characters look like:
"Black & white" hair includes salt & pepper as well as literal black and white stripping. "Yellow" eyes include amber and orange; "multi-colored" includes both color-changing eyes and those with several distinct but not-so-changey colors.
Median character height: 175 cm (5'9")
X-Men: 173 cm (5'8"); Order: 175 cm (5'9"); NYPD: 179 cm (5'10.5"); Neutrals: 175.5 cm (5'9.5")[/ul]
Aurion (208 cm, 6'10"); Cafas (191 cm, 6'3"); Ashton (188 cm, 6 2"); Geo and Vicente (185cm, 6'1")
Shortest members: Chase (127 cm, 4'2"); Kaitlyn (135 cm, 4'5"); Katrina (152 cm, 5 0"); Jocelyn (173 cm, 5'8")[/ul]
Average character age: 133 (Median: 24. Sebiroth, take your tail elsewhere. Phoenix and Granny, go get a nursing home room.)
Data was self-reported via a voluntary survey from November 1-16, 2011 (with some editing for obvious errors). Two characters were accepted after their players completed the survey (Gwendolyn and Akshay); they are counted in gender matters and overall character counts, but not included in the rest of the data. Mirror was counted twice in any character gender totals where he/she doesn't get his/her own extra-special half-lesbian cross-dressing mention. Jude was put on timeout from age matters, until he can decide whether he's 12 or 27. Only active second/thirds/etc characters were counted in the data. The four blue line graphs (visitors per day, etc) were courtesy of Proboards and Gravity Insights' forum analytics.
I may have made Aedus eye's change to orange for a very specific and odd purpose, when looking at last years results. next year I'll get you survey! next year!
