The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It was mandatory, he had no say in the matter, and apparently all it took was a false accusation from someone to send him here. Sam frowned slightly and rubbed the back of his head. The girl was a college student that lived here she was nineteen, she wasn’t a student at this school so he didn’t see what the problem was, he took her to dinner and dated her for two weeks so what was the problem?
Sam growled under his breath and knocked on the door of the ‘therapist’ of the school. He didn’t need to see her he knew this and as far as he knew his supervisors knew this as well. However they said with a complaint they don’t see any harm in him going to ‘talk’, besides they both knew of his past and deemed it appropriate to simply converse. Talk was cheap, actions spoke louder than words and he wasn’t one to openly talk especially about his personality quirks.
Sam knocked quieter and mumbled under his breath about putting a certain mansion resident into a home for the elderly, she might have not made the complaint still didn’t mean he liked her. After all she was the one that hung him upside down while Sam’s new friend ran away.
Sam waited and with a sigh of relief turned on his heels and started to walk away towards his office. It was clear there wasn’t going to be anyone at this therapy session. The therapist or the one who was getting the evaluation, it wasn’t like it was his first time getting an evaluation anyways. He received several when he was younger during his T.A.T. days, they just had to make sure he was mentally sound to be field ready.
If he was good enough for that why did he need an evaluation now?

Gemma closed the files she had been readig, and stood from behind her desk. She was not expecting any of the students this time of the day - classes ha djust started again, so the only reason one would show up was if they got into trouble with the teachers, and the teachers themselves could usually handle that just fine. So, who was it?
By the time she made it to the door, he was walking away; but she still knew exactly who it was even with his back to her.
"Sam?" she smiled, opening the door "I'm sorry, I was buried in work. Do come in. Good to see you again."

Before Sam could walk far enough away or hide behind something the door opened. It was Gemma, situation aside he liked the woman. He hadn’t had many conversations with her but any time they saw each other they managed to mirror a smile back to each other and their first meeting went by Sam’s reckoning very well. Turning on his heels once again Sam smiled to the woman, it was a fake one and not one of his better ones but she would understand why given the reason of his visit.
”Ah, Gemma you are in there… Good to see you as well.” Sam said as he started to reluctantly walk towards her. With an outstretched hand he greeted her and continued, ”errr… you know why I’m here right?” Sam asked figuring someone would have told her of what happened and why Sam’s superiors deemed it appropriate to set up this session.
Sam shrugged slightly, ”I mean, there isn’t ay real reason for me to be here right?” Sam said not really making eye contact with her at this point, ”You didn’t think my quirks were too far off did you, last time we talked?” it was a long time ago, and there was no reason for her to recall, so holding his breath waiting for an answer he waited to see if he could just walk away and tell those who suggested this that he was fine.

Gemma smiled and shook his hand, opening the door to invite him in. These things were best not discussed out in the hallway. Sam was still the leader of the X-men, and most of the school, and whatever he wanted to talk about, she did not want students listening in. He had a reputation to maintain, after all. Or maybe he just had a reputation. Either way.
"Well, I am sure we have things to talk about" she chuckled, closing the door "Of course if there is something you'd rather not bring up, that's fine too. I am not a shrink, after all..."

Sam nodded his head slightly and followed her in once again reluctantly, if she truly didn’t have much need to dig that was going to make this far more easier than he thought. Without the need to go into details with anything he figured he’d be out of her office within twenty minutes. ”Even if you were a shrink Gemma, there are things I’d doubt I’d bring up. Lived a pretty eventful life for the most part.” Sam said without much thought, ”Wouldn’t want you to waste your day or anything.”
Looking about the room he spotted a few stacks of paper on a cluttered desk , no doubt the paperwork she was buried in before he knocked on the door. ”If this is a bad time, I can come back later… or not at all.” Sam said with a slight tone leading to the conclusion that he was joking. However he’d be willing to leave if she agreed which Sam doubted she would agree too.
Looking about the office Sam spotted a couch off against a wall, her office was defiantly smaller than his and Streaks but they did have more need for the room than Gemma. Bookshelves covered some wall space and he thought of his office and how if he was there he could escape behind one of the bookcases and hide out for days until this situation just blew over, but he wasn’t in his office and from the way it sounded it wasn’t going to just blow over.
File cabinets mimicked the bookcases and his eye trailed over to a coffee machine. Sam sighed slightly and pointed to it, ”May I?” he asked as he walked over to the machine, ”Long day and all, not going to get any shorter right?” Sam asked.
Turning his attention back to Gemma, he asked, ”Haven’t been able to talk to you much since we got you set up here, how do you like it?” Sam asked curiously trying to simply ‘talk’ like he was instructed to do.

>>”Even if you were a shrink Gemma, there are things I’d doubt I’d bring up. Lived a pretty eventful life for the most part. Wouldn’t want you to waste your day or anything.”
"It's my job" she chuckled "And talking to someone is never a waste of time."
Talking at someone, on the other hand, usually was. That was the exact reason why Gemma usually allowed her students (and... clients) to talk as much as they wanted to share.
>>”If this is a bad time, I can come back later… or not at all.”
She smiled, and didn't even answer. Sam was here, and some part of him even wanted to be here; that was good enough for her. And it was pretty obvious that she had nothing better to do anyway.
>>”May I? Long day and all, not going to get any shorter right?”
"Help yourself" she nodded; there were cups next to the coffee machine, as well as sugar and anything else he might need. She was well equipped when it came to long work hours. Taking a seat in her chair, she waited for him to start a conversation.
”Haven’t been able to talk to you much since we got you set up here, how do you like it?”
Has it really been so long?...
"Never a dull moment" she smirked "Exactly my kind of a job. We have some very talented students... and then some who are more than a handful. Some of them are both, naturally." she chuckled "Let's see, I punched a burning angel and a parent, had a skunk in my office, got the cat boy out of jail, counselled a child soldier, got held hostage by one of the kids, adopted another to save him from abusive parents, shot a few people last Halloween, and I am currently trying to find who is stalking one of our teenagers. And those are just a handful of highlights."

After permission was given Sam started to make his pot of brew, strong, as he liked it enough to bring the dead from sleep. Maybe with a deadly jolt of caffeine Sam would feel more like talking. He smelled the brew as it started as he listened to Gemma talk about her first experiences and her more recent workings in the mansion workings. It seemed she had been rather busy, it seemed her and Sam defiantly needed to communicate about her the kind of ‘busy’ and his. They were far too similar for his liking.
”Well after Hawaii…Wait… Someone is stalking one of our kids?” Sam asked as he snapped his attention to Gemma, ”… I think it’s best we start going into detail.” Sam said glad the subject was changed however not glad to hear all of this information for the first time. ”I don’t really want to know who the parent you punched was or the burning angel.” Sam didn’t know too many ‘angels’ in the mansion but he wouldn’t have been surprised the loud mouth Irish kid had something to do with it but he doubted Gemma would hit a student… hard.
”Who did you shoot?” Sam asked rubbing the bridge between his eyes still waiting on the coffee as the office was quickly being overpowered by the smell. ”and they think I need help.” Sam said sighing and shaking his head slightly still waiting on to hear Gemma’s answer, however his tone wasn’t one of disgust but more of a ‘your pulling my leg’ tone.

Gemma smirked, watching him make coffee. At least he showed interest in her little list of messed up things. Good sign. Possibly he just didn't want to talk about the things he was sent here for. But whatever was his reason, she was glad she finally got to talk to him about all that.
>>”and they think I need help.”
"I admit, we could use help every once in a while" she chuckled "But so far we've managed." he was teasing her, she was teasing him. They were equals when it came to school business, and if he thought otherwise, he was mistaken.
"The parents brought the burning angel to exorcise their own daughter of evil. They are taken care of, that was a while ago. As for the shooting, does last Halloween ring a bell? Not this one, the one before. With the mass hysteria in the park. Someone had to watch out for our little cavegirls and Jedi knights." And the God of the Seas, but that was not Mansion business. "As for the stalker, yes. That's fairy new. I already got MRC involved, we're gonna sort it out."

The ice mutant’s nostrils flared with slight irritation. He was upset he was just now finding out about this but then again. Gemma can handle her self and the fact that she was fitting in so well at the mansion was almost scary to Sam. ”I trust everything is alright then? I still like to be informed about this stuff, kinda my job…” Sam ran his hand through his hair and he exhaled lowly and looked back to the coffee maker that was just halfway finished now it wasn’t fast enough.
>>>>"So, your turn. What have you been up to lately?"
The question was hard to answer for some reason, what he normally did and what he had been doing were different, yes but nothing to worry much about. ”Hawaii, lost some kids, found them. Stressful.” Sam said scratching his head and looking back to Gemma and shrugging. ”Never is easy…” Sam said thinking about the jet going down and his fists tightened slightly only to loosen up when he realized his fingers were digging into the chair he had placed them on.
He didn’t sit until the coffee was ready he was fidgety to say the least. He didn’t like to talk in this setting. Once the coffee was done he walked over to the machine and poured himself a cup and before he even let it cool he took a sip, a big sip as a white wisp escaped from the top of the cup. His mutation kicked in at his lips for a second and the drink was cooler as it slid down his throat. ”Much better….” he walked over to his seat that was in place for him and he sat.
Sipping the coffee again he leaned back into the seat and he sighed. ”We saved a lot of people me and Jorge.” Sam said knowing of the existing relationship between Gemma and that water-mancer he was partnered with in Hawaii. Sam was sure Jorge told her a little about the mission if nothing but the result and how they managed to save so many lives. Sam couldn’t help but picture the jet going down over and over in his head, one of the reasons he had been cutting on his usual sleep regiment.
Sam was quite for a second before taking another sip of coffee. ”Other than that nothing much is different. Classes with the kids, lessons and danger room sessions with kids like Gawain, Koga and the others. Patrol in the evening, and paper work in between everything. You know how it is right?” Sam asked rhetorically knowing she has her fair share of paper work. He was calmer now however still not much for talking about everything else in his life.

>>”I trust everything is alright then? I still like to be informed about this stuff, kinda my job…”
Of course he did. Gemma nodded with a small smile.
"Of course. You are still running this school." in theory, and sometimes even in practice "I have files, reports typed up, and everything. Let me know when you have some time and I'll make you a list."
She was not joking either. Administration was half the work. Once he got some caffeine in his system, it was his turn to talk.
>>”Hawaii, lost some kids, found them. Stressful. Never is easy… We saved a lot of people me and Jorge.”
She nodded again "I know, he told me about it. I am glad you all made it back safe." She really was. That mission turned out way more dangerous than it was planned.
>>”Other than that nothing much is different. Classes with the kids, lessons and danger room sessions with kids like Gawain, Koga and the others. Patrol in the evening, and paper work in between everything. You know how it is right?”
"Believe me, I know" she smiled, nodding; it was good to talk to someone who was equal to her in responsibility. She could do a lot of things alone, but running the school together with a trustworthy guy like Sam, who was way too serious for his age, was a plus. The kids were lucky to have him for a mentor.
"So. Is there something else you wanted to talk about?"

It wasn’t easy but they did make it all back, lessons were learned and should another volcano ever decide to erupt again and his team was called to help minimize casualties Sam had some better scenarios and plans running through his head on how to come out ahead with time to spare, not to mention a few danger room sessions in the works. There was no way he was going to let an incident like the one that transpired in Hawaii happen again.
Taking a sip of his coffee he sighed slightly, ”I don’t think I want to talk about it but, I’m pretty sure what I want is out of the question.” He knew his reputation well it didn’t bother him before but this was the first time he was ever being reprimanded for it or at least in some sort of therapy session, whatever this meeting between them could be labeled as.
Sipping form his mug he quickly added a disclaimer, ”Let me just start by saying I know some of my vices, one of them happens to be with women.” Sam shrugged and didn’t bother adding much more on the disclaimer he knew and Gemma knew that Sam was harmless with his vice flirtation that sometime leads elsewhere. ”I was found in a compromising situation recently with a mansion resident…” Sam said looking away trying not to catch Gemma’s eyes knowing they would be slightly disappointed.

"Let's assume it is" Gemma smiled, amused, and leaned against her desk, folding her arms. Sometimes she tended to forget how young the guy really was. Almost her kids' age.
>>”Let me just start by saying I know some of my vices, one of them happens to be with women... I was found in a compromising situation recently with a mansion resident…”
She nodded, more serious this time. "You do need to tell me about that. If there is going to be a problem, I'd prefer to know all the details from you directly."
That was policy, kind of. If she was going to be the mother around here, she wanted to know what she was going to have to deal with. Well in advance.

Nodding his head and waving his hand in a no big deal gesture Sam said, ”One of the newer staff members might have walked in on a situation between me and…” he forgot the girls name again, it started with an ‘M’ though he could remember that much also the color of her hair, the sound she made when she laughed, her eyes and… his thoughts were trailing and he snapped them back to Gemma. ”let’s just say ‘M’ best leave her real name out of it.” Sam said trying to play off the fact that he didn’t recall her name after two weeks of dates.
”’M’ lives in the mansion, doesn’t go to school here and we sort of started talking and then we went out a few times…” Sam said shrugging his shoulders and sipping his coffee, ”she is 19 by the way and goes to college in the city.” Sam said making sure it was known that she was legal.
”Any who my pants might have fallen down to my ankles when the staff member threw me away from ‘M’, she is also quite lucky she didn’t break a hip in the process.” Sam said slightly a little bitter at the fact that she didn’t break a hip. ”As far as trouble goes, however I’ll probably just be chewed out by Neena and Tricity… I’ve been chewed out before.” Sam said remembering a lecture or two and a third by Ghost whenever she heard about something like the situation he was recently caught in.
”But that is why they suggested I come talk to you, I’m assuming.” Sam said sipping his coffee again.

>>”One of the newer staff members might have walked in on a situation between me and… let’s just say ‘M’ best leave her real name out of it.”
Gemma sighed and listened as the story unfolded. M indeed. As if he thought he could get away without her finding out who the person was. She was handling the school records, for heaven's sake.
>>”’M’ lives in the mansion, doesn’t go to school here and we sort of started talking and then we went out a few times… she is 19 by the way and goes to college in the city.”
Gemma nodded again, not letting him know she already had a pretty solid idea who this M girl could have been. Sam sounded a little bit embarrassed, but not enough not to keep talking.
>>”Any who my pants might have fallen down to my ankles when the staff member threw me away from ‘M’, she is also quite lucky she didn’t break a hip in the process.”
It was definitely an entertaining story.
>> ”As far as trouble goes, however I’ll probably just be chewed out by Neena and Tricity… I’ve been chewed out before. But that is why they suggested I come talk to you, I’m assuming.”
"You assumed right." Gemma sighed as she looked at the young man "First of all, you are not getting away from telling me who the lady is. Also, I need to know who the staff member was that found you, and if anyone else knows about this at this point. This is the last story I want to hear circulating among the students. I realize the lady is free to consent to... whatever you have been doing, but this is still a school, and I understand you have already built... quite a reputation for yourself."

Sam always liked to hear he was right, however in this instance he wished he were wrong. Why Tricity and Neena thought it was appropriate for him to talk to a counselor about his little incident? Was it because there was no one here and they thought it best if a motherly figure would scold him? He was a little old to be answering to any woman like a mother, not that he’d ever had one that he could remember. Then again Tricity did always seem to be a little sterner than Neena when it came to yelling at him… Sam thought for a second shook his head trying to picture himself calling either one of the women ‘Mom’.
Laughing slightly Sam scratched the back of his head with another sip of his drink, ”I don’t know why the ‘M’ is so important in this equation, and I thought I was the one in the frying pan?” Sam asked hoping he wouldn’t actually have to tell Gemma he forgot M’s real name. ”Old bag of bones? The elderly woman who is a telekinetic the new mutation control teacher, Granny Goodness?” Sam asked knowing full well he dropped a super villainess name from a comic book he read once.
”Well it did happen in the school… so as far as keeping it quite I’m pretty sure the entire school knows.” Sam said reluctantly wishing it wasn’t the case. He was a teacher after all, even if it was two consenting adults. ”Just for the record, I didn’t build anything!” Sam interjected, ”I only asked a few girls out when I first moved in… it kind of escalated after that.” Sam said with a casual sip of coffee. ”Product of my environment if you will.”
