Character
Personality: Travis is a very simple person. He is well rounded knowledge-wise, knowing enough to get by with a computer, math and other subjects, but his specialty is anything mechanical, as has been for years. Aside that, he goes with the most logical choice, is willing to help others, and overall is a rather neutral person. He doesn’t try to involve himself into politics, a subject of distaste for him, and he thinks that the Justice System is full of holes, but he doesn’t actively work against them either. He is content with living a simple life with his mechanic’s shop… even if his mutant powers may demand he be more active very soon. One thing notable though, is that he does not lie, even if it might be the ‘nice’ thing to do… and he always keeps his promises.
Hobbies/ Interests: If it’s mechanical, Travis will likely be elbow-deep in its parts if you aren’t careful… especially things that he hasn’t messed with before. Job or part time job and description: Owns a mechanic’s shop. Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Has a distinct fear of blindness. Special talents: Mechanical Guru, if it’s broken and can be fixed, he can do it.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Neutral. He doesn’t really have a take on the situation, just tries to live out his life to the best of his ability.
Mutations
Mutation description: The ability to fuse with mechanical objects, to include anything with mechanical components, and manipulate them as if it were a part of his own body by touching and melding a part of his body with the object. If it is a large enough object to fit his body in, such as a car, he can completely meld with it, granting him the strengths, and weaknesses, of that vehicle rather than the human body. It must be at least as heavy and big as his body for a complete meld to work, and he can manipulate anything from a giant excavator or a jet down to a wind-up toy that could fit in your hand.
As far as what pertains to ‘mechanical object’, the definition is: an apparatus consisting of interrelated parts with separate functions, used in the performance of some kind of work. Simply put, if it is inanimate, and has moving parts, it is mechanical.
Strengths: While fused, he instinctively knows anything that might be wrong with the mechanical object, and can use that object with the same speed and precision as his own body. He is also granted the object’s durability if he is able to meld completely, as it essentially becomes his body.
Weaknesses: While fused with a mechanical object, he is susceptible to anything that the object he is fused with might be. For instance, if he is ‘in’ a car, and a car magnet comes near, he will not be able to resist getting stuck unless he un-melds. His time limit is an hour before he starts having problems un-merging… and if he stays for two hours in a single object, he will be bound to it.
Fighting Style No definitive style, just able to defend himself from common human thugs.
Explanation: Not having been trained, he has no definitive style. Pros for fighting style: -- Cons for fighting style: --

History Of Your Character An orphan at birth, Travis has never really known anything but how to sustain himself. He went to school, passed his classes in a rather average B grade fashion, but it wasn’t until highschool that he really found anything worth much. As a freshmen, one of the optional classes provided was a mechanic’s shop. Curious, he took the class, and finally felt like he had something he loved. Taking things apart, putting them back together, and fixing something that needs it, he felt so at home that it quickly became his focus. He found a local shop nearby that was willing to take him on as one of the ‘Oil Change Guys’, his first job, and it was the first class he ever got an A+ in.
After highschool, he became a relatively well known mechanic, his prowess in figuring out a problem with a vehicle quickly becoming something that was talked about amongst his customers, and spread through nothing but word of mouth. It wasn’t long before the shop was known for his mechanical exploits, and he often worked long past closing hours to ensure that he held true to his promises to his customers. When the Master Mechanic and Shop Owner came to him offering to hand down the shop to him, he agreed without hesitation… Thus, Daoine’s Mechanics was born.
For years, he has worked there, and lived in the second floor, which he used a bit of his money he had saved to remodel. He currently drives a 67 Ford F-100 pickup truck that has been restored and is his pride and joy, named ‘Franken-truck’. It was one day while he was working on the truck that he realized something different… he became aware of a problem, that the oil filter was clogged, but had no way of knowing how he knew about it. When he went to check the oil filter, his hand did something completely unexpected, and seemed to phase into the truck, and suddenly he was filled with awareness for the vehicle. Curious, he pushed his hand further, eventually melding completely with the truck. He found he could start it, kill it, adjust mirrors, turn on lights, anything he wanted, as easily as he could wiggle his fingers. Amazed, he finally managed to unmeld with the vehicle, and would spend the next two years, in his off time, figuring out his ability, and using it to help in his work. Now he stands, 25 years old, and a very popular mechanic in the midst of the turmoil that plagues the streets.
Roleplay Where did you learn about this site?: Google Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Nope! Sample RP: Moving to the sink, he gets a squirt of the special mechanic’s soap and rubs his hands together several times, using his elbow to turn on the waters. Grit, grime, oil and other spoils of his work quickly get washed away, and Travis rinses it thoroughly before splashing a bit of water on his face. The work for the day was done well over three hours ago, but now he had a headstart on the next day, meaning that the notes he left for the other mechanics would buy him about an hour more of sleep. It was always nice to get a bit of extra sleep… and he knew the next day he would be able to help more people. His popularity was spreading, and there were people saying crazy things like ‘best mechanic in the city’ and such.
If only they knew…
Using his ability, Daoine had been able to diagnose things that would have never been able to be found on regular diagnostics, and through that, develop a very loyal customer base using his honesty and expertise. He had increased his profit margin, but also had been able to help people with things that he knew otherwise wouldn’t have been able to be fixed. The local Car Dealership wanted to sponsor him too, something he would have to consider. He liked making his own hours though… if he accepted any kind of deal from them, it would have to be under his terms, not theirs. With those thoughts, he thumbed out his keys, walked out of the mechanic’s bathroom, and checked the doors, ensuring everything was locked up tight. Instead of using a key, he put his finger to the doorknob, and melded into it, unlocking the door. Truth be told, the key was hanging out on top of a ceiling panel in the office he worked out of and did paperwork in, but he hadn’t used that key in years… not since he discovered the truth of the potential of his ability.
Walking up the stairs, he hung the coveralls up on the wall hook, and hopped in the shower. While showering, he continued to thing about different cars that were in the cue for the morning… wondering which he should work on first… and the details of what he needed to specify for the sponsorship… surely they would try to ensure control of his shop in some way, shape or form, but that wouldn’t happen… after all, it wasn’t like he needed their sponsorship… Stepping out of the shower, smelling clean, although the very faint odor of oil and other mechanical components stained his scent permanently, he moved over to his bed and lay down. Setting the alarm on his iPhone, he rolled over, drew the blankets to cover him, and went to sleep.
