The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"That would have been nice, i don't recall anything before my powers, so i cant tell you if my actual parents were kind loving people, or drug dealing gang members. My parents simply stood and watched as the Humans caged me upon my powers emerging. Had things happened differently, i would like to believe you are right. It's a nice thing to think about."
Well, she was talking. Mama nodded and listened, allowing her time to talk or think. She did not comment on the parents, or the people who treated her like an animal; she did not want to try to defend them, or make her wounds hurt worse. She was not done musing about her past, and Gemma had time to let her.
>>"But it is a lovely dream, but a selfish one. Had i not gone and fought in the woods others mutants, whose powers are less suited for the dance of combat might of been forced to fight and even now, i could stop fighting, but if i did, the children in their mothers wombs would have to pick up the fight in time. My Aura protects me from most things physically."
Once again in her long career with mutants, Gemma marveled at the beauty of nature that gives powers that fit the person so perfectly. Aura was a strong girl, even if she was damaged by all the pain and the brainwashing. She had her pink light that could protect her from the cruelty of the world around her.
>>"It's funny, in the woods, we were not aloud to question the word of the gods, or the orders we were given. Since Miracle could heal wound's she saw little reason not to personally beat us for each infraction upon the the religion or Orders. However nether addresses what to do when one's leader is killed, as we were all expected to sacrifice our selfs so the command group could survive. It's part of the reason i am the only one left alive"
It took all she had not to frown at that. True, treating her like a freak because of her powers was wrong - but so was treating her like a weapon, and not a child. Gemma had no clue who this Miracle was, but she sure did want a word with her...
"Sounds like you went from one extreme to the other" she nodded "That makes sense, after how people had been treating you, and many other mutants. I have been working with kids, both human and mutants, for a very long time. Believe me, I have seen the worst side of humanity. Then again, I have seen the worst side of mutantkind too. We are not all that different from each other."
"Yes, adapting has been tough but i do my best. I restrict the humans dance with to gang members where i can" she agreed, though she wnated to show she was trying to adapt. It had been hard and by the time she had figured things out the body count had been quite high. Syn and encouraged such behavior, Lori despised it. Still syn had given few orders over all and Lori had structured the Order far better. Even so Aura had far few orders then the forest had given her. Aura could only smile sadly at Gemma's last comment. The worst side of humanity and Mutant kind, and about them being alike, she was right of course.
"There lies the saddest part, humans and Mutants are almost the same, but people have started war's for far worse reasons. Two South American nations almost went to war over a soccer game. Mutants share the urge for war, however nature made many of us weapons. Mutants and Humans will fight for the same reason any war starts, we are different if even slightly" Aura said. SHe had been trapped in a forest for two years but she had been taught strategy through books on the wars of humanity.
"Even if peace were possible, i don't think theirs a place in it for me and i won't be caged ever again" Aura said her body visibly shivered at the thought. "With miracle dead, do her orders and teachings become meaningless? And if so, what of me, built upon their foundations? Do new orders over ride the old?" Aura asked though she was almost unaware she was speaking her thoughts.

>>"Yes, adapting has been tough but i do my best. I restrict the humans dance with to gang members where i can"
That... was certainly good to know. Also, it probably explained a lot of recent cases, she would have to hint at that to Jorge at a later time. She did not want Aura to go to jail; she wasa unique girl with a unique background, she had suffered more than enough, but she did not really trust authorities to understand all that. She couldn't blame them either.

For someone so young, she did have an interesting sense of the world and how it worked, even if it was a twisted one. She could not be blamed for seeing it that way, after all that happened. Gemma did her best to keep up, to understand as much as she could of what and how Aura was thinking, in order to understand her better.
>>"Even if peace were possible, i don't think theirs a place in it for me and i won't be caged ever again. With miracle dead, do her orders and teachings become meaningless? And if so, what of me, built upon their foundations? Do new orders over ride the old?"
"There is a place for everyone" she nodded slowly "There is a place for you too. You are like no one else I know, Aura, but it's not because of your ability, or your training. There is a lot to do that does not involve fighting; or even things than involve a different kind of a fight. Your old orders and rules made sense for where you were and what you were doing; but I think it is time you exchanged them for new ones."
Aura listened to Mama because in part they echoed her own but also in part because Aura did not know herself off of the battlefield. She was at home in the dance, the surge that flowed through her when life and death situations occurred was a wonderful if ever more fleeting feeling and one she knew would not last forever. Of course she had thought she would be dead long before it mattered but now she had started to believe that would not be the case.
She nodded after Mama was done. "That is part of the issue, Since the forest i have simply wondered from fight to fight, letting the glory of combat chase away the memories of my past and my thoughts on the dead. However the glory seems to last less and less with each passing year" she said speaking of the adrenaline rush she got from dangerous situations. She simply was unsure of the exact word for it.
"I wonder if i had my memories from before my powers if i would not understand Life without battle. The trouble i have is if free myself to pick and choose what orders i follow how can i be relied on when i have a direct order? perhapse it is time i Look at the Artifact i took from the wood's. It was a laptop, Miracle recorded much on, i stole it beleiving it would tell me my true past, however i have been to scared to look at it' she said unaware that she was likely rambling a bit.
"What orders would you have me follow? What can you see i me that i can not fathom" she asked simply, her shoulders dropped a bit. Absently she called to her Aura and was reminded by it's silence what Mama could do.

She nodded. She was very young, but sometimes she sounded like she was centuries old. No one should live that much in such a short lifetime.
"Warriors get tired of the fight" she said "Even the best ones."
There was no doubt Aura was among the best.
>>"I wonder if i had my memories from before my powers if i would not understand Life without battle. "Artifact?..." she arched an eyebrow. Did she have a weapon? Something dangerous? Maybe something that had to do with mutant powers...?
No, it was a laptop. Was it even possible she grew up without... of course it was. It made sense, in her world if not in everyone else's. Gemma nodded again, listening.
>>"What orders would you have me follow? What can you see i me that i can not fathom"
She smiled a bit at that. "You can call that my special ability. I am good at reading people." she said with an encouraging smile "So you have a laptop that might have answers to your questions? I think I can help you with that. It shouldn't be hard to access the information on it, and if it is... I know people."
"It may well be time for that, however no human may touch it. I fear what might happen if they did. We were ordered to defend this at all costs, but if you know someone who can get into it, that may prove helpful" she said even though she was concerned what the act might mean. Still whatever consequence it might have Aura had started to think might be worth the risk. Her violent outbursts had gotten much worse and Aura knew it just just a matter of time before she did something even she might regret.
"No one under the command team were aloud to touch any electronic equipment in the woods. It was only after i came back to the city that i learned to use computers." she said recalling she had taken to them quickly enough but still did not like to have to use them. The direct approach was much better of course. Still she had learned a bit from computers and could not discount their usefulness.
"I can't even tell you if the thing turns on but..." she said and kneeled down as she slipped her backpack from her back. She slipped out what appeared to be a normal looking laptop, except it looked built to take a bit of a pounding and their was no marks of brand or other identification on it. The laptop practically shined as Aura had made sure the holy relic remained clean. Aura stood with the device in her hand, and with a sigh, she handed it to Mama. Aura planned to go back to the wood's soon, so she reasoned who better to keep such an object.
"I need to go back to the wood's, their was more equipment there which might be useful to finding out more" she said almost feeling the woods calling to her.

Gemma nodded. No humans, that made sense, knowing Aura's background. She wondered if it was a rule or an actual threat - she could tell those people would not be above using technology harmful to humans. One could never be too careful.
>>"No one under the command team were aloud to touch any electronic equipment in the woods. It was only after i came back to the city that i learned to use computers."
Also made sense. The best way to keep them from gaining information that could confuse them. Gemma kept herself from frowning.
>>"I can't even tell you if the thing turns on but..."
She did have the computer with her. Of course. It was shiny, and just the way the girl handled it spoke volumes about how important it was to her, and how much trust she was displaying right now by showing the laptop to Gemma. She smiled a bit.
>>"I need to go back to the wood's, their was more equipment there which might be useful to finding out more"
"Sure" she nodded "but not tonight. Come on, let's get something to eat, I don't know about you, but I am starving. We can go back to the school afterwards, and see what we can do to access information on the laptop."
Aura by religious decree would step in, should someone human try and touch the device. Even doubting as she was becoming of parts of it, she still felt the indoctrinated need to protect it, even if it was broken, Aura still reasoned it was the last connection she had to a god she desperately believed she needed the guidance of. Aura knew if she could only somehow reconnect with the goddess, all would be answered. Aura was confused however on why a being of that sort of power did not just hand her the guidance she needed, was she that insignificant to the goddess?
"Food is always good" Aura was without surprise a very unpicky eater. She would eat virtually anything she was sure would not harm her. It had been a learned trait, however other then things she caught and what she ate at sanctuary, Aura had only been in an actual restaurant a hand full of times. Aura suddenly recalled stabbing a man in one when she was with kasumi, she had been touchy back then. Aura looked to her hand again and realized no matter the danger she was no better off then a human. The thought sent a cold chill through her which she ignored, her eyes scanned the roof tops around them once quickly.
Aura headed back to the car. "I don't know much of the local restaurants, i went to one with a mansion girl named Kasumi once when we were on closer terms, but i lost touch with her awhile back" she mentioned trying not to consider the implications of what they were about to do. The laptop could well be the end of them both, in Aura's mind. Either way she knew she had to proceed to whatever fate might have planned for her.
