Day two at the new school and seeing as it really was supposed to be a place of learning Sam figured that he had better get his act together and decide on a or several subjects. He had officially graduated from secondary school so now he was facing the choice of what to study at a university level. Feeling a bit lost as to what might interest him, he decided that going and doing some research on what was on offer was probably a good thing. So he had marched himself down to the library and was now faced with wall after wall of books.
He had nothing against books but there just to be so many of them staring at him now that he felt a bit daunted. He had thought that this place would have fewer college level books but he had been wrong. The mansion was apparently big enough to house a very large library and therefore a very large supply of college level books. He couldn’t pick one up for every subject so he was going to have to narrow down his choice.
The first things to be struck off the list were anything math based. He had never had any skill with numbers and he knew that choosing a subject that involved them was an instant fail. He quite liked chemistry and biology but he had no intention of becoming a doctor or vet or anything like that. He didn’t mind languages but seeing as he already spoke English and Korean, he had never taken an interest in how one was supposed to learn a language. This probably explained how he had failed so badly in Spanish. So not languages.
He changed his mind and went back for a book on chemistry and then continued on through the section. Politics? No thanks you. But social sciences might be good. He liked both history and geography, so that looked like a good place to start. He stared at the titles of several large volumes before pulling out one on anthropology, sociology and geography. Four books seemed like plenty right now. He carried his burden out to one of the few unoccupied tables in the silent library. Setting them down, he decided that he would not move from this spot until he had a clearer view of his future. After all he only had a week to inform the administration’s office of his choice.
