The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>"...I'm too starving to think straight. Do you want one, Seyta?"
"I'm fine but thanks..." Seyta shrugged, watching Lenna walk off to get the food. She had already eaten before she came to the park. Even so, the idea of food wasn't very appealing with the photos still in her hands. Lori's suggestions where making sense though. While Seyta personally never had any issues with anti-mutant bias didn't mean it was not a problem.
>>"There are enough of us that we can protect each other. We could actually pull this off."
"I suppose so... but I'm still not sure how I'm suppose to help. Without knowing who sent the photos they're just going to give them to the news anyway. Not to mention I don't know about this kind of thing. I work in a stock room of a clothing store, and play violin on my days off. I don't mind being a part of this once I can use my powers again but I'll need help even then. Directions or something so I know what I'm suppose to do."
"Blackmailers don't just hand photos off to the news without getting something for their trouble first. It's all about control. It'll take time for the blackmailer to realize what's missing and get replacements, but even so... there's a P.O. box on the letter, right? Or some way for the blackmailer to get money?" Lori leaned over to see what was in Seyta's hands again.
"If we send those photos just as the blackmailer intended, they'll just think someone picked up the envelope and mailed it for them. If people don't notice you, all you would have to do to catch the blackmailer would be to hang out in front of the mailbox or drop point or whatever. Then you can decide what to do with them.
You could..." Lori ticked off Seyta's options on her fingers as she listed them off. "Catch the blackmailer and turn them in to get favor with the mayor. You could intercept the money before it even gets into the blackmailer's hands. You could even change the address on the letter so the blackmailer never gets the pay off. The photos are exposed and you walk off with the cash." Seyta had options.
"I wouldn't recommend most of these without some kind of back up, though. It's risky business." And guess who had oodles and oodles of back up on hand?
>>"...There's a P.O. box on the letter, right? Or some way for the blackmailer to get money?"
Seyta nodded turning the envelope so Lori could see it. "There's no return address but the letter said they would be told where to drop off the money later." She listened to the options Lori gave her thinking them all over. It was a lot to take in for stock room worker. Movies made situations like this seem simple, the average Joe, or Jane in this case, was quickly dragged in and instantly knew they needed to do something. This however was not a movie and Seyta was getting swept up and really knew nothing.
>> "I wouldn't recommend most of these without some kind of back up, though. It's risky business."
Some kind of backup. Where was Seyta suppose to get that? From Lori her new best friend? Without her powers Seyta wasn't ready to even make a decision about something like this. What scared her even more was how confident and familiar with these ideas Lori seemed to be. Maybe trusting her wasn't such a good idea, but neither was picking up the envelope in the first place. Still Lori, and Lenna, had her name and knew her prints where on the photos, Seyta was trapped if she didn't get help from them. At the very least she had some hope of getting free if she played along with everything. "Ok...What do you recommend then? I'll be honest, I'm really useless for any of these ideas, at least without my powers. And since you seem to have a better clue than I do about the whole thing I give. I'll do what you want."
Lenna glanced over her shoulder as the man rung up her total. It looked like maybe they were done? Possibly? She didn't know. But the food was hot and ready. She couldn't really stall much longer.
She turned, paid, and started on her way back to Lori and the ninja, gyro in each hand.
"You know, I'm pretty useless at this stuff too." Lie. "But I know somebody. Come with me, I'll take you to a friend of mine who can make this all go away for you."
Abyss was who she had in mind. The red man had many talents, one of which was the ability to be in seven places at once and being intimidating enough to get anyone to do juuuuust about anything. Also, Lori hadn't seen him around much but Kaitlyn had let her know that they had picked up a professional swindler... all of these Order members were viable options.
"Thanks!" Lori accepted her food with enthusiasm and stood. "You coming, Seyta?" It was come with them and get help or stay here on the bench alone with condemning evidence. For Lori, her decision was a no brainer.
>> "You know, I'm pretty useless at this stuff too. But I know somebody. Come with me, I'll take you to a friend of mine who can make this all go away for you."
Seyta could tell the first part of that was a lie or Lori wouldn't have suggested anything in the first place. Not that it mattered from her position; Seyta was in this whether she wanted to be or not. Looking up she noticed Lenna returning, her stomach giving a slight growl for not accepting the offer of food.
>> "Thanks. You coming, Seyta?"
Looking back to Lori, Seyta nodded and stood, violin in one hand and blackmail in the other. "Yeah... lets go." She sighed and got ready to follow them. She wasn't sure how or why she got mixed up in this, but she was. "Gotta say, this is not how I expected to spend my day."
Not how she wanted to spend her day? Too bad. This was way more fun for Lori than board meetings. The Order Leader got to her feet much revived with food in hand and blackmailer Orderling-to-be in tow. Not that Seyta knew what Lori had in mind. "Hope you're not squeamish."
A quick shuffle of electro-magnetic manipulator, adapted and ninja into and out of a car, had the three blondes in the garage of the Sanctuary. Also, a bit of gyro sauce on Lori's lapel. Hm. Can't win them all.
"This way, Seyta. Lenna, you can hang out or take the car if you want. Either's cool with me." In other words, Lori wouldn't mind Lenna hanging around and supplying a shower, but it was probably safer for the adapted not to walk into the Sanctuary. The car could just as easily take Lenna back to running her own business at the Labs. She would have thanked her for the backup in the meeting and after, but Lori tried her best to avoid such unnecessary things.
"The man I'm going to introduce you to is very good at intimidation." She opened the door from the large, but rather mundane garage, into the Sanctuary proper. A couple doors down and Lori was knocking on Abyss' door. "And no matter what you might think about how he looks, he's got good sense and a keen intellect." Also, she was hoping he was home. If not in his room then maybe... the cafeteria? the common room? Lori would have Lisa track him down by phone if this didn't work.
Abyss Stretched and rolled out of bed. What time was it, hmm, P.M. Interesting. He pulled on a tank top so he didn't answer the door in just his pajama pants, not that the tank top stretched across his frame left much to the imagination. He moved from his bed to the small bathroom connected to his room and grabbed his toothbrush and put some tooth paste on it started brushing. He opened the door and waved the women in, spitting the paste out sooner than he liked. that was not a full two minutes. but then it wasn't his brothers either, it was the boss lady.
After rinsing and spitting. He came back out of the bathroom. " Sorry about that, I can't stand morning breath, How can I help you Ladies?" The mutant before them was massive, his frame would put a gorilla to shame. His skin was bright Red, his ears and teeth pointed(and well cared for), his long tail was covered in fur and probably the only nimble thing about him.
Seyta shrugged and followed Lori. No that she had much choice but it was better to pretend she was making a decision rather than trusting a stranger. One Quick car ride later and Seyta found herself in a garage, of what she assumed was the sanctuary since they did pass the fabled golden doors on the way in.
>> "This way, Seyta. Lenna, you can hang out or take the car if you want. Either's cool with me."
Seyta nodded and followed along, hoping at any moment to get her powers back just in case what she was doing was a mistake. Still she tried to look confident, easier said than done but it was an attempt if nothing else. They stopped if front of a door and waited.
>> "The man I'm going to introduce you to is very good at intimidation. And no matter what you might think about how he looks, he's got good sense and a keen intellect."
"Oh-kay..." Seyta had seen some weird mutants in her time. Heck she grew up in Salem, that place was a freak show even by mutants standards. "Lets just get this over with."
Even with being used to the stranger side of mutations the man who opened the door gave Seyta pause. Abbadon, Lucifer, Beelzebub, Prince of Darkness, Satan... The list of names flashed through her head as she sheepishly followed Lori into the room. Perhaps this was a bad idea but there was defiantly no escaping this giant demon of a mutant powers or not.
>> "Sorry about that, I can't stand morning breath, How can I help you Ladies?"
"Seyta, this is Abyss. Abyss meet Seyta. She's got some juicy photos of the mayor and needs a devious mind to help her put them to good use." After introductions were made, a quick wink to Abyss (to confirm that yes, she did think he was the perfect devious mind choice for this matter) and Lori was ready to head out the door and back to her day job.
"If you need anything more from me, go through Lisa. Have fun, Kiddos!" She grinned and waved beforing popping out to leave new instructions with Lisa.
Was that a chuckle echoing down the hall? Probably.
The new girls eyes went wide, but it wasn’t out of fear so much as surprise or wonder…maybe a little bit of fear, it was only natural. Abyss smiled and his freshly brushed teeth shone brightly, happy in Lori’s confidence in him, this would be fun. Last time they intimidated a mayor it was just with intimidation not information.
“Oh? I’ll trust you two on the pictures, I could do without seeing anything extra of that man. Will do Charge, I’ll keep you in the loop about how things progress.” He then turned his crimson eyes to just Seyta. “As far as what to do with them, what do you want that he has? Money, information, power? or, hell do we just want to ruin him? We figure out what we want, and then how to get it out of him.” He laughed a bit at the prospect. He paused and realized he might need to make his new acquaintance more comfortable before they proceeded to figure out what way to go.
“Do you want something to drink or eat, Seyta?” He walked over to his mini-fridge microwave combo.
>> “As far as what to do with them, what do you want that he has? Money, information, power? or, hell do we just want to ruin him? We figure out what we want, and then how to get it out of him... Do you want something to drink or eat, Seyta?”
His change in tone was a bit of a surprise to Seyta, but not unwelcome. coming to grips with her situation had given Seyta back her apatite. "Sure... uh, what do you have?" She took a few more steps into the room looking around awkwardly. With his back turned Seyta wasn't sure how long Abyss would last against her powers if they turned back on. Best to just get the conversation going just in case, that tended to help. "So...the pictures. Lori mentioned intercepting the money or going after the blackmailer. I suppose with a guy like you either one might be doable."
" I have water, soda, juice and a couple of beers. as far as food goes, hot pockets and ramen cups, though if you want anything else the cafeteria is close." He opened the mini fridge to show her her limited choices. as he turned back around to see what she wanted it was like she wasn't there for a moment. He blinked his eyes and there she was, He blinked his eyes a bit more to make sure.
"Why not go for both? intercept the cash and introduce the blackmailer to the reason he is going to give you every photo he has of the situation. If it is something dangerous enough that it might put you a long term problem, he could disappear if needed. though if that makes you uncomfortable we could always set you up with a room here at the sanctuary and you can always knock if anything else has you troubled."
He handed Seyta her requested drink and began to prepare her food if she didn't opt for going to the cafeteria for something a bit more solid.
>> "I have water, soda, juice and a couple of beers. as far as food goes, hot pockets and ramen cups, though if you want anything else the cafeteria is close."
"Uh, water and a ramen is fine." Seyta sat down in the closest available chair, setting her violin beside her. Looking at the envelope she sighed wondering which direction Abyss would suggest they take. There where reasons for and against each. Namely Seyta being clueless about what either choice would require.
>> "...though if that makes you uncomfortable we could always set you up with a room here at the sanctuary and you can always knock if anything else has you troubled."
"Both, um...maybe." The more involved she got the less sure of herself Seyta was feeling. On the other hsnd, if her powers returned and Abyss was working with her things would end up in her favor by the end. Including a large cut of cash. Best thing to do in that case would be to fake self confidence and get things moving at least. Seyta stole from work all the time, this would be no different. "I need my mutation back first. It stopped when I met Lori and Lenna, until it comes back I'm gonna be useless."
