The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“Dedication and hard work are what bring skill, but if all you want are the basics, it shouldn't take too long.” Just the basics wouldn't be terribly exciting, but perhaps would spark his interest and make him want to continue his studies further.
It was possibly the quietest Sebastian had ever heard the gym, as everyone was eating. Even in the middle of the night, there seemed to be a constant rhythm of metal against metal and fist against fabric. Now there was only chewing for a few minutes.
Sebastian couldn't help but wonder why Noel had brought Aedus home. If he wanted to learn to sword fight, there were any number of places in the city he could have gone to learn the basics. Perhaps being friends from work made all the difference. Or perhaps there was something more than friendliness between them? Sebastian had a hard time judging; he hadn't had many friends through the years, at least not any very memorable ones.
It didn't take long to finish eating. Most of the burly men went back for seconds, and from the sounds of it, they pretty much scraped the pot clean.
Sebastian stood, ready to return his bowl to the kitchen.
“Well, then, did you want to get started right away?”
> “Well, then, did you want to get started right away?”
"You never did promise not to hurt him." Noel hadn't forgotten that Sebastian had glazed over her request earlier. She'd simply been overcome with emotion at the prospect of two home cooked meals in one day. It was like a Christmas miracle in her tummy.
"I know you heal, but this is different." She wanted his word that he wasn't going to MacMillan Aedus simply because Noel had brought him here.
After that? Well, chili wasn't the best meal pre-sword fight, but it wasn't the worst either. Since it looked like Sebastian was wasting no time with Aedus, she opted to collect their three bowls and deposit them in the kitchen and then see where she might be needed in this lesson.
Yeah all he wanted were the basics from the man himself…and a conversation about what was going on. He would pursue more from Noel, if she wanted him to learn. He wasn’t sure what the problem was, but he respected her enough that he would back down if she wanted him to.
Aedus looked to the pair with interest. He could heal? Well that added a whole another level to confusion to what happened in the apartment, but explained how things might have gotten that messy without any bodies to be found. Beyond that he wondered at why it was different to Noel if he got hurt and healed, it sounded like a relief to him.
His eyes bounced between the two. “I’m ready whenever you are.” He pulled the tape open on the box and then undid the bubble wrap from the newly polished sheath and deposited the rest in a trash can near the front. he drew the blade to inspect it and was pleased at the apparent quality. He sheathed the blade once more and waited for the Unicorn and Noel.

Sebastian sighed deeply as he cracked his knuckles and began stretching his arms in preparation for the lesson.
“Stretch,” he commanded his newest pupil. The boy was going to be sore in the morning as it was, he didn't need to complicate it by starting his first lesson with cold muscles.
“I'm not going to hurt him,” he responded to Noel.
She was giving him that look. That one that said she knew exactly what he had been thinking. Truthfully he had thought about giving him a little bit of a hard time, especially since he seemed more interested in Noel than in learning everything there was to know about his brand new sword, but he hadn't ever been planning on hurting him.
“I promise you'll get your beau back in one piece.”
Was Aedus finished stretching? He had better be, because they were starting.
“First, gripping your sword. You don't want a sharp blade flying out of your hand,” especially not in a place like this, where men were using the gym equipment along the edges of every wall.
One piece. That wasn't a promise that he wouldn't put him through the wringer, but it was good enough Noel supposed. The dishes got deposited in the sink on top of all the other dishes. It turned out to be a pretty hefty mound...
Noel looked between the doorway and then back at the dishes.
They could probably not kill each other while she took care of this. If someone didn't, she imagined the last scrapings of chili might turn into glue. The brunette shoved her sleeves up her arms and got to work.
((OOC: you guys can skip me for however many rounds you want! Just assume the dishes take a while ))
Aedus was used to vigorous exercise and immediately saw the value in the command from the man before him. He worked out hard and often as his calves, abs and biceps attested. He wasn’t a stranger to yoga and other forms of exercise that helped his body stay in tip top shape.
Aedus ensured that all the muscles he thought would be getting the most work got the most stretching. Aedus quickly unwrapped the cloth that was a flag for the Angle blade forge. He left the sheath over the blade for now there was no reason to draw steel on a sword master…unless they requested it and
Aedus stepped to Sebastian’s side and watch how he held the sword and copied the grip as best he could. Trying to ensure that he put each of his fingers in the same place as his sensei.

Sebastian was not at all shy about readjusting the younger man's grip on the sword. Twice. That was better.
“We'll take it slow to start. You need to practice the moves slow before you can speed them up. We'll start with a simple block. Keep the sword here and when you see me swing, twist it this way to meet it in an 'X' shape. Ready?”
Slowly, Sebastian swung the sword downward so it would be easy to block.
“Again.”
“Hold the point a little higher so you can react quicker.”
“Now speed it up.”
Steel clashed against steel quicker and quicker until Sebastian could actually feel the confidence start to creep into Aedus' blade. He took a step back for a moment and lowered his sword to the ground.
Aedus truly enjoyed the instruction but he’d be a liar if he said this was his only reason for being her. and so he said it. Aedus shadowed his teacher and pointed his blade toward the ground.
Aedus chewed on his thoughts for a moment…his caution built momentum and turned into a smoldering anger. “I wouldn’t be honest if I said sword practice was the only reason I am here…I had to see you for myself. I was told that you have a good heart, that you love your wife, your family. That you wouldn’t hurt them on purpose and that more than likely have been framed. Maya is safe, but I just don’t get how a man could stay here while his pregnant wife is being protected by someone else. And that apartment, it was destroyed.” His hand tightened on his hilt as he realized he might very well need that block that he had just been taught, his other hand grabbed at the sheath that fit his sword, when you are out classed sometimes it helps to abandon the rules and make your only rule, survive.

The truth from Aedus was not what Sebastian had expected the truth to be. He had thought it would be something along the lines of “so I'm interested in Noel and wanted to know if there was anything between you”.
What he got instead was huh?
Sebastian didn't know anything of love or pregnant wives or apartment buildings destroyed.
Aedus had been truthful with him, so he would be truthful back, “You're gripping that too tightly again, and I don't know what you're talking about.”
He swung his sword at Aedus again, slowly enough that he could block it, but at a trickier angle this time, then at another angle, even trickier than that.
Sure he wore a wedding ring, but that was only because he had needed the green card. He wasn't really the marrying type, or he would have done it by now, at some point in his long life, but he'd never found anyone that he truly cared about.
The boy had thrown him for a mental loop, and it was distracting him. It was almost as if there was something he should remember that would make everything make sense, but he couldn't. It made him distracted and in that moment of inattention he forgot whom he was fighting and flicked his sword a little too quickly, a little too aggressively. Noel was going to be upset.
Of course he was. He was preparing to fight for his life…but he didn’t expect that for an answer, just dismissal, the nonchalance of which he did so, was ridiculous. Though centuries of practice with sword. Meant that he could also have practiced lying for just as long.
“none?” Aedus managed to get out as he blocked once, twice, thrice, four, five, six, the slices were coming faster and faster and faster still. He was doing amazingly well, except that he knew he couldn’t keep it up.
The thought seemed to cross his mind at the same to time the blade slashed through his chest. About an inch deep would be his guess. His orange eyes went wide. “ He took a deep breath. “ if you can fix, this I suggest you do it, before I do.” His breathe came out a breeze of smoke, his orange eyes began to glow just slightly. He was doing his best to hold back. He slumped to his knees. Looking up at the man who would either save him or have caused him to anger an already angry Gym owner.
The pain was enough to make him want to pass out or vomit, he unfortunately had felt worse and lived to tell the tale. Though being consumed by lava from the inside was hardly something one liked to dwell upon.

“Colei,” Sebastian swore, rushing forward. He knocked Aedus' sword aside with his arm and pressed his hand left against the young man's now bare chest. Icy cold burned at his palm as it soaked into the man's skin, cooling his pain, quenching the fire within, and above all, knitting his wound closed again.
It wouldn't have be mortal wound, but it would have been ugly if he hadn't been a healer. He knew better than to be distracted during a fight, whether it was serious or simply training. So why had his mind played such trick on him? How had this man managed to distract him so?
“Merda, you've gotten blood all over the floor,” and his on his hand, too.
He needed a sponge. The only sponge he knew of was in the kitchen.
“Ego sum perfetutum,” he muttered as he sheathed his sword and stepped toward the kitchen. He poked his head through the door. Noel was cheerfully scrubbing away, using the only sponge in sight on the stubborn rim of the chili pot.
The immortal put the bloody hand behind his back like a little boy who didn't want his mother to know that he hadn't washed before dinner.
“May I borrow that?” He asked politely, pointing to the sponge with his clean hand.
“Colei.” Aedus agreed on principle of how the man had said it. He watched his blade tumble across the floor in a state of shock.
“Better than Lava.” Aedus shrugged as the wound seemed to seal it’s self up. The little scars where he had stitches on his side went away and would go unnoticed for some time. His knees would last that much longer with the short session, and might go unappreciated as he was hard on his joints with years of soccer and biking in his life, but wouldn’t realize that he should be feeling the aches and pains of it later.
Aedus shrugged his shirt off and wiped at the mess on the ground, not his best cleaning work. His shirt had a nice little window in it now and he didn’t think he would be wearing it any time soon.. The dizziness and shock was wearing off.
He stood up and tossed the shirt in the trash and picked his sword up off the ground. As he did he couldn’t help but notice that his abs happened to look extra nice, he had done a lot of sit-ups that morning and it seemed like the muscles just went and knitted themselves back up and were ready for more. He waited with his blade sheathed for his sword master wondering what exactly it meant that he claimed no he didn’t but he got so distracted afterward…for a moment he thought Sebastian intended to kill the man asking questions…but he wouldn’t heal him if he had.
Sebastian needed a sponge? "Of course." She squeezed the excess water out of it and then ran it under the faucet again to rinse the last of the red chili goop off before rinsing and squeezing it out again. She didn't want to hand him a dirty sponge.
"Spill something?" Noel put the clean bowls away and left the pot to soak while Sebastian had her sponge. Since she couldn't do much in here without it... she might as well poke her head out to check on Aedus.
She hadn't heard any shouts of pain over the running water and she had no idea the sponge was for something as nefarious as... "Is that blood?" Noel's voice went low and dangerous. Aedus was mopping it up with his shirt, trying to get rid of the evidence, but that was clearly not spilled chili.

Had he spilled something? One could say that.
“It was just an accident. Don't worry, we'll get it cleaned up in no time.”
He had the sponge! Yes! The unicorn man slipped back out of the kitchen as quickly as he'd come in, ready to go help with the mess Aedus had made. It was perfect, they'd just wipe this up quick, no harm done.
Except Noel might not see it that way. She wouldn't have had to see it at all if she'd just stayed in the kitchen.
There was no point in lying about it. The woman clearly knew her red bodily fluids by sight.
“No one is hurt,” Sebastian pointed out, careful to use the present tense.
Aedus could be a silver tongued devil when he had to be, he tried to keep it honest, but when necessary he could say what he needed and get away with murder. At least he could to anyone but Noel, She would call him on it and maybe smack him besides… once he heard that lies put a taste in her mouth and that taste being similar to burnt ketch up. He micro waved some of the red sauce into a brown goo and it only took one spoonful to convince him that it wasn’t worth trying to cover up much of anything.
So Aedus simply grinned. “I’m fine and it was my fault.” Aedus echoed Sebastian’s claim that no one was hurt. Aedus took the now red shirt and put it in the plastic that his sword came in and tied and tossed it in a trashcan, he placed the box there too while he was at it.
He walked back over and sheathed his blade and looked to Sebastian to see if they would start again and then to Noel to see if she was going to let them. It didn’t look like it, she had that look in her eye that said she would kill you for getting hurt. Didn’t make much sense but he felt like he would be safer training with the man that just stabbed him than the woman glaring at him.
