The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Eww. The zombies smelled. Maya wished her costume would contain more... fabric that she could wrap around her face, but the lost her veil a while ago and she didn't have time to modify her attire anyway. She was too busy packing zombies into shopwindows.
She got the one dangerously close to her before she ran out of windows. That had to do for now.
Jumping out of the reflecting surface for the last time, Maya grabbed the shotgun that had no more bullets in it, and used it to smash the windows in. Glass shattered, alarms went off, shards flew everywhere. Zombies turned into minced meat.
"Hell yeah" Maya grinned before she looked around, trying to assess the situation. Ami was still there. So was Katrina. And a few dozens of zombies.
Maya ducked, and ran, and smashed a stray zombie in the face with the gun. Ami was not that far away, but it was not going to be easy getting back to her...
Aedus held his position but as Katrina landed on her rump and the Panda lined up his next shot he Realized he needed to do more than just stand there, it was about that time that a tune popped into his head and he began to sing it quietly to himself. He had never felt quite so little attachment to his sanity as he did just then. He heaved his hammer and began to drive it down on the zombie the same way old John Henry might drive a railroad nail. He nailed the first zombie with a solid down ward crack and caught the next on the way back up; it was hard to be effective on the way back up. But he managed.
Aedus fell into a steady rhythm, keeping the immediate threat clear from the gate. He left the ranged fire up to the ladies, and their new found sharp shooting homeless friend. He cut off the flow of the zombies from the gate so it should ease the work load on the zombie bride.
The step step smash rhythm of things was gruesome and the body count was slowly rising…just like the bodies.
The little blonde illusionist scrambled back to her feet before something nasty could come attack her. She did not like shot guns, she decided. If it was going to knock her on her butt each time she fired it, it was not going to be helpful for her to be wielding it. A zombie could come up behind her and nom her brains while she was still recovering from the recoil.
Rick, the zombie fighting hobo, who may not have been a real hobo at all, Katrina was beginning to suspect, had witnessed her failure. Thankfully he didn't judge, he simply realized that one of his zombie fighting soldiers maybe wasn't going to cut it with a shot gun. He pulled a handgun out from his pocket and handed it to the little blonde.
“Don't shoot until they are close enough you're sure you can hit it. Keep your arms loose enough that the recoil doesn't hurt.”
Katrina nodded, she hoped she could handle this better.
A zombie stumbled around the swath of re-death Aedus was cutting through the zombie hoard.
The little illusionist readied her aim, waited until she was sure, then shot.
The zombie stumbled, then fell. She got him! She gave a little hop of excitement, she actually got him! And the recoil wasn't nearly as bad. She could still feel it, but not like getting hit with a sledge hammer in the shoulder.
Except he was still crawling. She got ready again, shot, and this time he stayed down.
Out of ammo and shopwindows, Maya judged it was about time she got back to her pack. Rick the Helpful would have something to shoot with, right? Shouldn't zombie hunters come well prepared?
And just how the hell did she get this far from the others?...
When zombies were limping after her, the course of action that made the most sense was to draw them away from the girls and into the windows. But now she was on her way back, and they were still limping forward, and she was out of everything.
She did the only thing left to do: she ran.
She would only have to duck and skip around a few undead, cross the road, and return to the vehicle that contained stuff to blow up said undead with. That shouldn't be hard, right? These things were supposed to be slow...
So Maya ran. She ducked. She skipped. She was very glad she did not have a veil anymore. The skirt was still a b*tch. but she was almost there.
By the time she reached the road she was in full sprint, the way ahead of her zombie-free, and she did not even hear the car tires screech...
Aedus smashed yet another zombie skull this one had a tattered rather intricate suit on and a powdered wig. He had manged to move himself forward enough to have the gate area clear the others taking out the zombies further back helped a great deal. Aedus grabbed one gate and slammed it shut and then the other. He wedged his hefty hammer in the gate sideways to make the gate nearly impossible to open from the opposite side.
"Nice shot Katrina!" Aedus jogged back to the car and complimented His trick or treating partner on the way back. His eyes landed on an a goats beard axe that looked simply wicked. Aedus Scooped up the weapon and found his way back to the handgun girl. The zombies were starting to gather at the gate, but with distance they were about as dangerous as angry sheep. Aedus looked around and realized a lot more of the zombies were out than he had realized.
Aedus did not notice it. The others might not have noticed it. But she did. Amelia did. The car, rolling rolling rollin'. Maya, running running running. Tires. Squealing. Screeching. Screaming. The headlights, focused on Maya, bathing her entire body in a blinding light.
Yeah. She noticed it. How could she not?
Everything in the world for Amelia just stopped. The hobo with the ammo? He was unimportant. The gun in her hand? A triviality. She shoved it off on him, into his hands.
Somehow, Amelia found herself moving. Despite everything else having stopped.
Okay. Maybe 'stopped' wasn't the right word. Was it like slow motion? Yeah. But lightning-fast. A bunch of contradictions. Nothing made sense. Why was Maya in the car's path? Why was a cop car speeding at her girlfriend with its lights off? Why wasn't anyone doing anything!? And why hadn't it stopped?
She was scared. And the whole world was moving too fast.
Why hadn't Maya moved, again? She wanted Maya to move. She wanted to move Maya.
Sneakers stopped. Ground into pavement. Arms were brought upwards, and thrust out.
Move, Amelia willed, and move Maya did.
Deep down somewhere in some unknown portion of the young girl of science's brain, something had clicked on. A switch had been flipped, and something had been set in motion. Round and round, this something had spun. Like a roulette wheel. Like a slot machine with infinite possibilities.
Was that too deep? Too artsy? Too wordy.
It had rolled to a stop. What had it stopped on? It had been a gamble. The wrong thing would have been disastrous. Been uber duper omega epic fail.
This thing stopped on 'wedding dress'. Or 'clothing', more specifically. Amelia willed it. It worked. Amelia shoved.
She had wanted to move Maya. The near-invisible semi-transparent ghost hands shoved the zombie bride, aiming to do just that.
Tires groaned to a halt, a few feet past where the supposed zombie girl had once staggered into the road. Ashton Drake smacked the steering wheel and spun to look over his shoulder.
"What the hell!? Was that not a zombie!?"
Amelia stared at Maya, in shock at what she had done.
Everything was confusion. The fight had brought them back to the edge of the road. Guns and ammo were in easy reach, just inside the old Impala. Aedus slammed the gate shut and effectively locked most of the zombies in. Another shot from Rick the Professional Zombie Hunter, and another from Katrina and the nearby ones were also incapacitated.
It was quiet, for just a moment. But there were others, father down the street, stumbling away from them. And still possibly more spilling out other exits into other parts of the cemetery.
Alister had said they'd know what to do when they saw it. He had lied. She had no idea what to do next to help round up zombies that were escaping all over the city.
Then the quiet moment ended with tires screeching.
Katrina spun around just in time to see Ami make a shoving motion and Mirror get shoved out of the way of a car. Except, they weren't even touching. Hooray for mutant powers saving the day. Ami must have been some kind of telekinetic.
Hooray times two, the cops had arrived. They had back up.

Ashton took note of the following: Zombies. Not zombie. Car. Road. Nearly Hit a Person.
Crap.
And there were people with handguns and shotguns. He sure hoped they had permits for those. "Archer." He got her attention. "Want to make sure that person back there is okay?" And gave her a task.
Now, all he needed was a task for himself. Zombie killing? Sure. Yay. More kills to his name...

Jules
Halloween. What a first night back on the job. Quin rotated her wrist as she rode down the street with Ashton in the patrol car. The brace was gone, but now her wrist felt too light., like something was missing. She could hold a gun though, and fire it without any pain. That was what mattered.
All the crazies were out tonight, mutant and human alike and the force needed all the help it could get.
And then there were the zombies. Yup. Zombies. And people with guns. And someone in front of the car. Someone in front of the car that was now behind the car. That had been close. Ashton was hitting the wheel.
"I don't think zombies can move that fast...but it could have fooled me." Quin said
Ashton stopped, and gave her instructions. Quin looked at him for a moment before nodding and reaching for the handle of the car door. ”Will do.” she said, pushing open the car door and drawing her weapon as she made her way towards the person they’d nearly hit. Her heart was pounding, but Quin wasn’t scared. Zombies, she could fight. You could see a zombie.
”You alright?” she said, then announced herself, ”Officer Archer, NYPD.”
For a moment, Maya was dead sure she was going to get hit by a car. The friggin' zombie apocalyprse was going on, and instead of getting her brains eaten, she was going to get hit by a friggin' car. A police car, none the less. Oh, the irony.
And then, Ami was looking at her; she was too far to reach her in time, which was just as good, better get hit alone than drag your girlfriend with you.
And then, Ami shoved her out of the way, just like that.
Maya stumbled and fell as her dress seemed to move on its own and tangle around her legs. Maya ended up on her butt; the car stopped; someone was yelling.
Scrambling back to her feet, the corpse bride came face to face with a redhead she did not know. But at least the redhead was alive.
>>”You alright? Officer Archer, NYPD.”
"Peachy" she sighed "Maya Morris, X-men," that was about as much as she could get out, pointing down the street "Zombies. Go, shoot."
Walking around the redhead, she looked around before she crossed the street to Ami. Just in case.
While Panda bear was paying attention to trivial things, like the living and police cars trying to mush the living... She was not paying attention to the dead. It made a certain amount of sense with the fact that the police had almost smashed their friend…the one dressed as a zombie. Did he mention it was a bad day to dress as a zombie.
“Watch our backs? Kitten.” Aedus said nodding in the opposite direction as he took off the other way. Heh, he called her kitten, he’d only called her that in his head thus far. Aedus dashed forward; ducking under Rick’s shotgun barrel as the man turned in the same direction he had brought Kat’s attention. Good, she wouldn’t be the only one watching out in that direction they had a swath of destruction carved out. And between the cop car and the Hobo’s four wheeled armory they had a decent little area where they had cover.
Aedus hefted the Axe upward and closed the gap between himself and the Panda. He bashed the axe handle into a Zombie that was closing on the girl who seemed to be in momentary shock. The Zombie stumbled backwards and with a vicious swing of the Axe, Aedus sent the undead’s head flying. He stepped forward and brought another chop down on a Zombie that was accompanying her…the pair seemed to be a couple they mildewed clothing matched in color and fashion.
That cleared out the last two in the immediate Vicinity but there were still droves of them down the road exiting an alley way about a block down. It would be a good chance to regroup.
She didn't notice the guy, axeing the zombies a question. Or decapitating them. Or decapitation, in general. Her eyes were locked on Maya. Her mind, on what had happened.
What had happened?
Amelia was shocked. Terrified. Deep down, there was also a little awe.
She was a mutant. This meant a great deal of things. It meant having to deal with hatred towards mutants, in addition to the usual bag that came with being alive. With kissing girls. With being ridiculously good looking and awesomer than most everyone else.
That was a word.
It meant that she was different.
It meant that she had powers.
That she would forever be grouped with a different part of society.
She was a mutant. And. She was shocked. The fact that Maya had nearly died was also somewhere at the forefront of her mind. Quickly getting closer to it as Maya shuffled towards her in the night.
Maya had been in danger, and she'd. She'd.
Amelia blinked.
Then, she flung herself at Maya in a bear hug. Panda, to be precise.
They seemed to mostly have taken care of the zombies on this part of the street. Any that had wandered their way had pretty efficiently been taken care of by Rick the Hobo, Aedus the Axman, and Katrina the Inexperienced Sniper.
"I think I'm out of ammo," Katrina admitted, handing the gun over to the hobo in change for refilling. She would need more bullets if they were going to go after the zombies that had wandered in the other direction.
While he was refilling her, she thought it might be wise to fill in their cop-like back up. Sadly it wasn't Detective Cerventes who had arrived. As inappropriate as it was to think about their tied score at a time like this, it would have been nice to be able to claim another crime scene as her own that he had walked into.
"We were trick-or-treating when all these zombies started popping out of their graves. It seems as though several have escaped into other parts of the city. Do you suppose you guys could use your cop radio things to get some more help to contain these things?"
Not that she should be bossing around cops... but when they were worried about nearly hitting someone, they weren't worrying about zombies all over the city.
"Aedus, lets go around the edge of the cemetery and make sure all the other gates are closed, too."
She got her gun back, plus a spare from Rick, and started around the wrought iron perimeter. In several spots the undead seemed to have hit the fence and gotten stuck there, unable to go farther forward or figure out how to proceed in any other direction. Their reaching arms were certainly creepy, but not her main concern right now.
Wait... had he called her “Kitten”? Nevermind, now was not the time to think about her nickname status. There were zombies to contain!
