The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sophy
Chase paused contemplatively. Could he turn into a lizard-man?
"I guess I could," Chase mumbled, "I mean, they're still people, right? So, I could still look like them, I suppose... I don't know, I've never tried..." He really, never had. Chase wondered if it would hurt to change so drastically, or if it would be just like turning into anyone else? He'd have to find someone who'd entertain his curiosity in that department. He watched as the two of them battled over the flowers, which the green-haired boy was force-feeding to the gecko. Chase shuddered. Shades of bullying past.
Jude then showed him to the secret sneak-out by a tree, which made Chase feel rather like some sort of spy or a secret agent. The whole pretend-secret-agent mental image was only reinforced by the nighttime defenses. It almost made sneaking out a game. He committed the information to memory, and nodded his head.
They looped around towards the building, and Chase was ushered in by Jude. Chase smiled and trotted ahead, but only just, and he waited for Jude to catch-up once they were in. He listened attentively as Jude gave the grand tour, eyes roving around curiously. When Jude proposed a tour, Chase's eyes lit-up, and he bobbed his head enthusiastically. He would, of course, venture about later, so didn't need a "grand tour", but if Jude gave him a basic lay of the land, Chase would be most grateful.
Good to know about the lizard guy. These were things Jude would need to figure out for himself eventually.
As for the tour, "Ze kitchen and den." Jude continued through the main hall until they hit a different tile and eventually carpet. The kitchen was pretty standard. Oven, range, fridge full of goodies that seemed to never empty thanks to one Ms. DuMonde. There was a table and a little island with stools that the kids alway fought for come lunch time.
The den had a TV and a few game consoles. None of the newest and most awesome, but even games that were a few years old could entertain for a few hours.
"Downstairs iz training area. Upstairs iz dorm hallways. Three halls. Adult hall, Boy hall, Girl hall." From the large kitchen windows, the garden area was visible. By now gekoguy had gotten the upper hand and green hair was eating tulips.
That was about as overview-y as it got. Jude figured the rest was worth exploring by Chase's self. "I probably can't help you get signed up, but if you knock on one of ze doors in ze Administration hall zey can help you." Hmm. He should probably write down his phone number for Chase too. Just in case. "Do you have a phone? I want to give you my number in case you need somesing."
Jude was edgy. Not just because he'd run away from here but because he could feel his power scratching at the bars of its cage. There were lots of viable power options here.

Chase followed Jude throughout the Mansion, letting his gaze take in each, individual room that they wandered through. Jude kept it short and simple, which catered to the scant attention span that Chase, as young boy, possessed.
>> "I probably can't help you get signed up, but if you knock on one of ze doors in ze Administration hall zey can help you..."
Chase nodded quietly. Yeah, that was probably something that parents were typically in-charge of, and Jude wasn't a parent. Just an older boy that had made sure Chase was fed, and helped him find somewhere to crash for any extent of time. Chase gave a quiet, reassuring, "I can figure it out."
>> "Do you have a phone? I want to give you my number in case you need somesing."
Chase shoook his head. Why would an eight-year-old have a phone? Even if he did, he would have either turned it off to keep anyone from finding him, or his parents would have turned it off when he was no longer under their roof. Chase turned the dilemma of not having a phone over in his head. He slid out of his backpack and rummaged in, before withdrawing a tiny, wirebound notebook, and one of those cheap-o plastic pens, both of which you could buy in bulk just about anywhere. He flipped through a couple pages of doodles, before coming to a blank one, and he handed the notebook to the older boy.
"Just write it in there," Chase said simply, "I can use a payphone--" Well, no, he didn't, but how hard could it be? "--I mean, they've got phones that I can use here too, right?"
"Zere are phones in ze library." And probably one in the kitchen now that he thought about it. "You can use the phones, easy."
Jude accepted the articles, copied down his number and returned the things to Chase's care. "Good luck!" Now. Time to get out of here before anyone recognized him or his old roommate and poker buddy remembered that he owed him a shoe.
