The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Agnes remembered when those words were first uttered to her earlier today, followed by an awkward…
“Please.”
She had simply been sitting in the mansion library, reading one of her textbooks for class when suddenly that tall, familiar woman appeared looming before her. For a second it took Agnes a moment to remember who she was, though she did look like someone she met before. But then her memory was jogged by her voice. It brought everything back…
Being bullied in the mansion gardens…
The savage looking female mutant…
Then her statement that she smelled…
Agnes frowned at that last part. She remembered how hurt she was when she heard that. Unfortunately that was not really something that she had control over. Some parts of her mutation did not really allow her any sort of control. Thankfully, these days, she had gained enough control that the scent was not as easily detectable to regular people. Maybe that would mean she would not damage the mutant’s sensibilities?
In any case, Agnes was still surprised that she agreed to go with Emerald Lupin. She had offered her, as an apology a long time ago, to treat her to milkshakes one day. Agnes had agreed that that was fine but she figured that it would have been something that Emerald would have either forgotten or never followed through with. After all, it was not exactly like they were best friends. The last “contact” she had with her was a note that her youngest sister had brought to the runaway.
Ruby was adorable. She would have to make sure to ask how she was.
But unfortunately Agnes was still feeling slightly awkward. Sitting at the counter, dressed simply in her dark blue jeans, long sleeve green top and denim jacket, the brunette nibbled at the bottom of her lip as she glanced across at Emerald. She…she really wished she knew what to say…
Clearing her through, her crystal blue eyes darted from side to side in thought before she finally looked up to Emerald again and gave her a small smile.
“Um…T-Thank you…you know…for the milkshake…” she said. But…maybe she should have saved that for when she actually got it.

Most people forgot about little promises that they made to someone, especially if they were made a long time ago. However, Emerald Lupin was not that sort of person in the slightest. She may have given off the air of savage fury and raw power, but that wasn’t the only thing Emerald was. Miss Lupin was a person with many flaws, one of her big ones being the tendency to be far too blunt when it is not warranted or needed. Because of this, Emerald ended up hurting others’ feelings more often than she wanted to, and with the combination of her fearsome appearance made making friends far more difficult.
So, after the terrible slip of the tongue Emerald had with Agnes, she decided to make it up to the poor girl somehow. While her little sister had informed her that she was fully forgiven, Emerald still felt like she should take her out for the promised milkshakes. After a semi forceful, though partially pleading request, Emerald had managed to bring Agnes with her to Moe’s - the dinner she worked as a sort of bouncer at on and off. The wolf girl wore a pair of green cargo pants and a camouflage t-shirt, with her dog tags dangling around her neck. The she-wolf knew how awkward Agnes was about this, and she felt the same way. She still felt terrible about the stress she had put another through. It wasn’t her intention - not in the slightest. She just sort of messed up terribly due to her bluntness as well as her wolfishness.
Once Agnes broke the silence, once again Emerald was reminded how awkward she was making this, in hindsight Emerald was now realizing that this was a bad idea. The good thing about this was she was able to clear the air without using a messenger.
“You’re welcome, but ya really don’t have to thank me. I really owe you for being such an asshole,” Emerald apologized, looking far more apologetic than what would be expected of the wolf girl. There were a lot of rumors circulating around about her, and one of them was her being an absolute savage beast. While she sometimes didn’t help matters, she was still a human being, just with bigger teeth and one hell of a set of wolven instincts. Her tail drooped between her legs, and by the look on her face, she still felt terrible about what she did.
“I’m just used to body language more than talking. You know, ‘cause of the whole wolf thing,“ Emerald explained, sheepishly. “I sometimes wish that people would act more like wolves than people. At least then I would be able to understand them!” The wolf girl would laugh a little, wolven teeth showing as she did so. Emerald would lean a little against the chair letting out a deep sigh, blue eyes focusing on the girl across from her. “Still, though, I’m really sorry about making ya feel that way. I sorta know how it is to be called something you aren’t and I don’t want anyone to go through that sort of crap.”
It’s was truly a sight to see Emerald Lupin, an Alpha female in all versions of the world, being apologetic to someone.
Agnes really had no way of identifying how awkward this whole situation was. She did forgive Emerald for what she had said. Yes, it was a little irritating but she managed to find it in her to forgive and forget! Only…Emerald did not seem to want to forget it. The wolf-girl looked so sad over what she had done. Almost as if she had felt like she ran over Agnes’ favorite pet with her car. But Agnes no longer looked at it that severely. It was an incident that maybe they both blew out of proportion. That’s all…
But still…the gesture was nice. When was the last time she had a good milkshake? Agnes couldn’t even remember.
>> “You’re welcome, but ya really don’t have to thank me. I really owe you for being such an asshole,”
Wow, she really was agonizing over this. Agnes felt a pang of sympathy for the scary looking female and wished that she could ease her anger at herself, somehow. She felt bad because she hated for anyone to beat themselves up over her, especially over something that was so small and miniscule. There was no need for Emerald to feel that bad. But Agnes did not want to interrupt her while she spoke.
Though she was nice, Agnes was also still a little intimidated around her…
>> “I’m just used to body language more than talking. You know, ‘cause of the whole wolf thing…I sometimes wish that people would act more like wolves than people. At least then I would be able to understand them! Still, though, I’m really sorry about making ya feel that way. I sorta know how it is to be called something you aren’t and I don’t want anyone to go through that sort of crap.”
Agnes smiled and laughed a little at the wolf-girl’s crack about how she viewed the world. In reality, Agnes was not all that surprised. It made sense. After all if Emerald could tap into that savagery that made her so ferocious then obvious it would bleed into other aspects of her life, of her behaviors. She guessed that wolves tended to speak more with their bodies than with their words (or growls) anyways. Agnes must have looked a lot more hurt than she actually felt that day and Emerald probably saw it when she walked off.
She sighed as she smiled appreciatively back to her.
“I-Its okay. I understand…you know, that you’re sorry,” she said softly. “But, really, you didn’t need to go through all this trouble. The letter was enough. But, thank you again. Maybe…maybe I should have had a stronger upper lip than to have just gone to pieces over one little remark.”

At first, Emerald didn't really expect the younger girl to forgive her. She expected other things, like her being angry or something like that. After all, she was sort of a jerk. However, when she wasn't called out for what she did, or even yelled at, Emerald couldn't help that relieved look that came across her sharp features. It felt as if a hundred boulders had been lifted from her, and she was now free to act as she pleased, within reason of course. Emerald let out a sigh of relief, her body relaxing considerably. The wolf girl's tail began to wag happily in the booth they were in, thumping on the seat dully.
"Don't worry about it. It's my pleasure. Besides, it's in the past, now, and we can move on with things," Emerald replied, a happy grin appearing on her face. Oddly enough, when she was like this, it was hard to tell she was the hard headed, feral girl that everyone took her for. At the moment, she looked positively jolly. "I gotta say, though, I'm surprised ya actually came with me. Most of the students back at the mansion are still scared of me. I swear when you walked out with me, some of them were giving ya the stare like I was gonna eat ya!"
Emerald began to snicker a little at the thought of some of the kids’ glances to Agnes as she walked out with the wolf girl. It was like they would never see Agnes again, and they were witnessing some sort of crime about to take place.
The wolf girl shrugged a little , leaning back on her seat a little more, relaxing her terse muscles nearly fully.
"Ah well, at least you can tell them ya survived a milkshake with the infamous were-beast of the mansion. " Emerald suggested, grinning coyly at the other girl. Her blue eyes wandered a little over to the kitchen, noticing the cook was fixing things at the moment and was a little overwhelmed, judging by his scent. At least with him taking a little longer, it gave Emerald a chance to possibly make friends with the younger girl. "Who knows, maybe people will stop being afraid of me."
There was something in the way Emerald said that last sentence that made her sound different somehow. Her normal voice, usually sounded deep, though light, as if she was always like a playful pup. The way she said the last sentence, however, hinted at something else. A certain dip in her voice, a softness in that normally hardened gaze: while the moment was brief and was followed up quickly with a short laugh, it was noticeable for someone who wanted to look for it.
"So, Agnes, tell me: how has life been treating you? Want me to beat up some more bullies for ya?" Emerald asked, quickly changing back into her playful Alpha persona.
OOC: Sorry this took a bit! Was busy at School, I figured this would be a good callback to Ruby mentioning how her older sister is misunderstood.
Emerald’s tail wagged and Agnes had to grin. That really was adorable. Despite how terrifying Emerald can be, she was just now showing how really sweet she was as well…
>> "Don't worry about it. It's my pleasure. Besides, it's in the past, now, and we can move on with things…gotta say, though, I'm surprised ya actually came with me. Most of the students back at the mansion are still scared of me. I swear when you walked out with me, some of them were giving ya the stare like I was gonna eat ya!"
Agnes for the first time that whole awkward meeting actually began to laugh. The comment was so sudden and honest that the runaway was no prepared for it and before she knew it she began to laugh out loud. She knew of the reputation that Emerald had around the mansion. Not that many were actually carried away and eaten by the wolf girl, but reputations were terrible things to live down. But still, even in this setting, Agnes just had to laugh. It was a good hearted laugh, one that was in no way mocking or cruel, mainly because she knew from where Emerald was coming from. She only smirked as she giggled and shook her head.
>> "Ah well, at least you can tell them ya survived a milkshake with the infamous were-beast of the mansion…Who knows, maybe people will stop being afraid of me."
She nodded and smiled in response.
“I’ll make sure to spread the word,” she said with a small wink.
Agnes paused as she looked over the redhead. She seemed to keep checking into the kitchen, maybe wondering how long she still had to talk to the bug-infested runaway. But Agnes highly doubted that. Instead it seemed as if Emerald were actually eager to keep spending their time together. Maybe she did want to be friends after all? Agnes could not be sure. Emerald just had this lone wolf streak that seemed to keep people away. It was an aura of defense but Agnes knew something about that. She did the exact same thing when she was living out in the streets.
She sighed as she reached out and took a small sip from a glass of water that had been brought while they waited.
She was not opposed to friends…
>> "So, Agnes, tell me: how has life been treating you? Want me to beat up some more bullies for ya?"
She smirked, grinned, then shook her head. The teen’s blue eyes sparkled with humor as she continued to shake her head. Not in disappointment but just in answer to Emerald’s question.
“As sweet as that is,” she said with a well-meaning laugh, “I don’t think that’ll be necessary. Most people have been leaving me alone since my parents were locked up.”

Emerald was more than a little happy that she managed to create a situation in which everyone was laughing. It wasn’t often that she managed to get the people around her to laugh like this. It had been quite a while since Emerald had managed to talk so cheerily to another person without growling or anything of that nature, so this was a nice change of pace for her. It allowed her to relax and act like a normal person for once, even if she was a normal person with sharp teeth and the tendency to be rather wolfish.
At the moment, Emerald was part of a one-wolf pack, her other “pack mates” being nowhere to be found. Not that they weren’t part of her pack anymore: she just had no idea where they were, which unfortunately made the lone wolf feel even lonelier. If she was able to act like herself around everyone, maybe her little pack could grow a little. This was easier said than done.
Once Agnes told Emerald that she would spread the word that she wasn’t all that bad, the wolf girl gave the other girl a grateful grin, her tail still wagging away.
“Thank ya. Maybe they’ll learn I don’t bite..much,” Emerald grinned wider, her large, sharp wolven teeth showing. The Alpha female paused for a second before a look of realization dawned across her sharp features. “Wait. Does that mean they are all going to want free milkshakes because I don’t think I have enough money in my paycheck for that.”
Speaking of paycheck, a stringy young male waiter with a youthful face, grey eyes and a grim grin slid up to the two women and gave them each the milkshakes they had ordered.
“Enjoy, and don’t forget to come in for you shift tonight, Emerald,” he said in a low voice before walking away.
The wolf girl would nod a little, right before she eagerly dug right into her milkshake. The look on her face as she drank it could only be described as a “happy wolf” face, her tail wagging back and forth so fast that one could see if they just walked by. After Emerald took a moment to breathe, she would respond to Agnes’s earlier statement.
“Well that’s good. At least no one’s screwing with ya anymore,” Emerald finally replied, relief in her voice. She hated it when others were bullied for no damn reason, and in the case of Agnes, it was all because of her abilities, which made thing worse, because Emerald herself knew what that was like. This was when the second part of what Agnes said kicked in. “Your parents?” Emerald asked, her head tilting inquisitively to the side like a confused pup. Hrm, as much as I wanna know, maybe it’s best I don’t ask anymore. People need to have their secrets, and I don’t wanna mess up around her again. Emerald thought, taking another quick sip of her milkshake. Dark blue eyes looked over at the girl with an inquisitive glance. However, she shook this glance away rather quickly. “On second thought, I shouldn’t be asking ya to chat about that with me. I’m just glad you are doing a hell of a lot better than you were. So, how’s the milkshake?”
>> “Thank ya. Maybe they’ll learn I don’t bite..much…Wait. Does that mean they are all going to want free milkshakes because I don’t think I have enough money in my paycheck for that.”
Agnes chuckled and shook her head. “Don’t worry, I’m sure your wallet will be safe.”
In truth the runaway doubted that her word would make that much of a difference. Though it may ease up people’s reactions around the wolf-girl, she was more than certain that many of them would still end up tense and terrified. The survival of one student was not going to eradicate all of that fear, but it would at least help a little bit, she knew that. But definitely not to the level where she was going to have to buy a round of milkshakes for all the mansion students. Still…the prospect for was indeed a funny thought.
She paused, a little unsure of what to say next as she glanced around the diner. It was cozy place, kind of like the kind you see in movies all the time. The visage further made her smirk a little bit as she watched as their waiter finally pick up a couple of prepared milkshakes from the order counter. She watched that gleaming glass cup carrying the dull pink liquid of her strawberry milkshake. She really could not remember the last time that she had one. But she knew that they were good.
And boy it smelled even better as the waiter set it down before them. The sight of the tall glass of milkshake, the swirl of white whipped cream that crowned its top, even the glare of that way too bright cherry, they all called to her. Suddenly she was very thankful that Emerald kept her promise.
Agnes paid little attention to the conversation that was had between the waiter and Emerald. But she did catch that the redhead actually worked here. That explained why she knew the place so well. Yet, as their nice waiter wandered off, it was only then that Emerald seemed to finally respond to Agnes’ comment about there being no need for bullies…
>> “Well that’s good. At least no one’s screwing with ya anymore…”
She nodded.
>> “Your parents? On second thought, I shouldn’t be asking ya to chat about that with me. I’m just glad you are doing a hell of a lot better than you were. So, how’s the milkshake?”
Mutely Agnes took a sip of her shake. It really was one of the best ones that she had ever had, but before she got too deep into drinking it, she was shocked by what Emerald had said. She didn’t know? But, she lived at the mansion. She was sure that most all of the mansion residents had heard about the incident. After all, Malachi had set half of the living room on fire. But one look at the wolf-girl’s eyes and Agnes could see that she was indeed in the dark was to what happened.
She blushed slightly. Mainly because she really did not want to talk about it, but at the same time she needed to in order to move on. After all, Emerald seemed to be really trying hard to make friends. She did not want to make her feel like she had brought up a sore subject.
She sipped again and smiled. “It’s really good. T-Thank you for bringing me,” she said with a nod. Gently she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and cleared her throat. “And…n-no. Its okay. I…I don’t mind talking about it. I just…I thought you had already knew about it. Most of the school does anyway.” she shrugged with a small sigh. “I-I’m a runaway. I ran away from home…over a year ago and…up until now I have been hiding from my…parents. They…had done some…really bad things to me,” she said with a quasi-shaky voice. But she quickly regained her composure and went on. “Anyways, they…somehow found me. I guess…because of that museum incident that was posted on ViewTube. They went to the mansion and…they tried to take me away by force. Luckily they didn’t succeed. And…the police showed up just in time to arrest them,” she shrugged as she idly slid the glass of milkshake back and forth between her hands. It was definitely progress, there were no tears in her eyes. “But…that’s in the past I guess. They’re…gone now…” she said with hope.

As Emerald continued to drink her whipped cream swirled milkshake, she pondered a little more about what she said. She really could have worded it better, and even if she said she didn't want Agnes to think about it, the girl probably still did, since she brought it up. The she-wolf blew bubbles in the thick, sugary, delicious sludge, kicking herself inwardly for her bluntness. It cooled her throat and actually helped prepare her for the story that was to come.
The wolf girl listened to Agnes thank her for the milkshake, and she smiled a little, glad that she could make someone happy again. That is, before the story of Agnes's parents began. Not expecting to enjoy this story too much, Emerald started to drink up the remains of her milkshake. As the story continued, quite frankly, she inhaled the milkshake. Luckily, it managed to prevent Emerald from growling and wanting to go outside and beat someone up out of anger; instead she was focused on the good taste of The Milkshake.
That being said, Emerald was in no way happy about this. A low growl bubbled up in her throat before she could prevent it from escaping. Her milkshake cup was dry, not a drop of the shake was left, the temporary joy from it was gone, and all that remained was a low, boiling feeling in her gut. Even if the parents were in jail, doesn't mean that the law system was going to process them right and the may get out if those idiots in the law office didn't do things right. Clenching her fists against her sides, fur prickling a little on her tail, Emerald growled.
Realizing that she was growling out loud and probably looking quite intimidating, Emerald took in a few deep breaths, slowly managing to calm herself down. Her eyes softened apologetically and her body relaxed once again. She would cross her arms over her chest and look at Agnes firmly.
"Well that settles it, you are now under my protection as a member of my pack." Emerald said firmly. The wolf girl blew a strand of red hair out of her face, tail wagging back and forth ever so slightly.
"Sides, all because someone is in jail doesn't mean they are gone forever and I'm not letting ya get hurt again. It's an Alpha's job to take care of her pack," Emerald looked adamant about this, not in an angry sort of way but like she was legitimately concerned for the other girls well being. Such was the life of a young Alpha female, searching for her pack.
Agnes had explained her situation…and Emerald for the most part of respectful and quiet. Agnes was pleased with that. Not because she thought that Emerald would make a huge scene and embarrass her or anything, but simply because she did not want to get the wolf-girl riled up. Since the first time they meant, Agnes knew that the redhead had a streak of wanting to protect people and fending off the bullies and monsters. But as wonderful as that was, Agnes did not want the girl to get worked up over this. Her parents were behind bars now. They were not going to do her any harm. Detective Cervantes promised her that.
And he was such a nice and well-meaning man that Agnes was inclined to trust his word.
But once Agnes was finished talking, she could have sworn that she heard something growling. She did not know what it was at first but a glance over to Emerald seemed to identify the source. Agnes immediately began to nibble on her bottom lip anxiously. She did not want this from Emerald. But she felt that if she tried to interrupt that the wolf-girl would not really be inclined to listen.
Another growl…then it quickly settled. Agnes turned her attention to Emerald and she saw that the apologetic look in her eyes. The expression on her face was so sweet that Agnes wanted to sniffle a little in surprise. She was touched that the girl cared so much.
>> "Well that settles it, you are now under my protection as a member of my pack…Sides, all because someone is in jail doesn't mean they are gone forever and I'm not letting ya get hurt again. It's an Alpha's job to take care of her pack."
A…pack? Wait…what?
Agnes tilted her head in a confused manner. Unfortunately she did not know much about the social structure of real wolves but knew that the term was connected with them. But she was still trying hard to let the Emerald’s statement soak in. She just made her part of her pack? Agnes was not a wolf though. She was a mutant with the power of being a living insect hive! But as she looked at the conviction on Emerald’s face, she saw that this was no mistake…nor was there any argument about it.
Still slightly confused, Agnes simply nodded her head. She did not want to deny the wolf-girl’s want to give her protection but at the same time, Agnes did not want to believe that she needed it anymore. Still…she did not want to flat out refuse Emerald…
“T-Thank,” she said a little shyly as she sipped her milkshake. “R-Really…you don’t have to do that. I trust Detective Cervantes. But…thank you, for letting me into your pack.” She said with an appreciative smiling. She wondered if she’d get a cool membership card or something.

Judging by the slightly confused look on her compatriots face, she had a feeling Agnes may not know what being a member of her pack would entail. The she-wolf should have known that not many people know of all the different positions and the like that wolf packs had. Or how protective the Alpha tended to be of their fellow packmates. Emerald would proabbly need to warn her later but for now, she would allow her to figure it out.
When the name Cervantes popped up during Agnes thanking her for letting her into the pack, Emerald kicked herself inwardly. Ah hell, I was supposed to tell him when I got back to New York. Great, he's probably thinking that Bloodfang got me or something. Emerald thought, figuring she should probably talk to the kind detective as soon as possible. She was glad that Agnes more or less reminded her that she was supposed to be under some police protection since that incident she would rather forget.
Admittedly however, Emerald was a little amused at how Agnes reacted to the fact she was now a member of a pack. The she-wolf would chuckle a little.
"Hey, don't worry, being in my pack is just being my friend. Anyone I view as my friend, is in my pack, which at the moment doesn't have many members, "Emerald grinned wolfishly, she hadn't really meant to scare others, they just tended to avoid her.
The redhead's dark blue eyes would look at Agnes with a suddenly serious look, "Sides, not many have had a Milkshake with the big bad wolf and managed to run home to deliver their sweets to their grandma alive." Emerald would say, trying her best to say this with a serious face, but was only able to do so much. With a bark like laughter she burst out into even more laughter, her tail wagging back and forth rapidly.
>> "Hey, don't worry, being in my pack is just being my friend. Anyone I view as my friend, is in my pack, which at the moment doesn't have many members, "
Agnes breathed a small sigh of relief and grinned at Emerald in return. A friend? She really thought she was a friend? For some reason the concept just made the young living bug nest all warm inside. It was always so hard for her to make friends since she never allowed herself to get close to that many people. Gina, Liz, and Sveta were her closest friends right that. That trio of insanity meant a lot to her, but she sought all of them out. Emerald was the first to really come to her.
The idea that such a strong and powerful young woman would want to be her friend just made feel just a little meek and yet thankful. She noticed how Emerald handled herself and knew that that was the type of woman she wanted to one day attain to be. She wanted to be able to walk into a room and exude nothing but strength. But that was hard in this day and age. As much as she wanted to pass herself off as strong, Agnes always felt like she was never as strong as she needed to be. Even when she was living on the streets, she never saw it as strength, all she saw in herself was a will to survive. Sometimes that can be enough. But now that she had a normal life, or was at least on the way to one, she wanted it even more…
She blushed a little as she smiled at Emerald.
“Well, you can count on one more in your Pack,” she said with a definite nod. “I would be honored.”
>> "Sides, not many have had a Milkshake with the big bad wolf and managed to run home to deliver their sweets to their grandma alive."
Agnes grinned and then sat back with a smile as Emerald had a hearty laugh. It was a well deserved one. As the wolf-girl was saying earlier, not many people would think that Agnes would return from this trip. But with a smirk she soon began to join in the hearty laughter with the redhead. It felt so good to laugh so much. Too much of her life had been devoid of humor. But it was good that she was finally able to grab ahold of some of it again. She was more than thankful for that.
Smirking Agnes chuckled as she leaned over and gently touched Emerald’s hand. It was the touch of a friend, pack mate, and fellow outcast.
“Thank you, Emerald,” she said with a bright and jovial grin. “I really needed this today. And I’m glad that we can be friends.”

Maybe she had a homing device-- Gina was given to wandering, but come on, what were the chances that she'd wind up in the same diner as as Agnes and Emerald, even if coincidentally? In all honesty, it had never been her intent-- Gina heard of this place, Moe's, through some other kids at school, and she'd spontaneously decided to check it out. As atypial as it was, she was unaccompanied by any other students, standing in the entryway and surveying a menu. She could really go for some icecream, but if it was too far out of her price range? Well, then there was really no point in getting seated and waited upon, just to say you couldn't afford it.
But, the prices seemed reasonable enough. Particularly, for the sake of icecream.
The diner was humming with life, and as Gina's doe-eyed gaze wandered, she even spied a few mutants here and there. Well, word on the street had been that it was mutant-friendly. That always was a plus in the dining-out experience. She edged absently towards the front table, taking in the ambience of the restaurant.
"How many people in your party, Miss?" the rather perky hostess inquired chipperly, twirling a pen in her fingers.
"Um, just me," Gina began to answer, smiling and tossing a shrug. The hostess was about to scurry off in search of a table, when Gina spied a familiar head of wavy brown hair. Was that--? No, it couldn't be-- was that Agnes?!
"Oh, hold on--" Gina said apologetically, to the hostess, "I think I see a friend of mine--" Then, developing some form of tunnel-vision for a familiar face, Gina cupped a hand around her mouth and shouted-- it wasn't too out of place, for the diner was loud as it was, but hopefully Agnes would hear her, "Agnes! Hey, Agnes!" Gina waved a hand frantically, yet she still made sure not to accidentally smack anyone in the face with her waving. As if she needed to wave, though-- she was kind of hard to miss.
Agnes seemed to be accompanied, too, which was nice to see-- if Gina were any more tactful, she might have left it at the wave and then eaten on her own, let Agnes have her time with whoever-it-was (from this angle, Gina couldn't see her face). But, Gina was a social-butterfly, and her sister having someone else with simply meant more company in Gina's book.
Laughter, now here was something Emerald hadn't done in long time. Laughing loudly with someone that she could call her friend, there was almost no feeling like it. It made Emerald feel all warm and fuzzy inside and truthfully, it made her feel like a normal girl for once. Not that she greatly desired to be normal and it wasn't like she hadn't had friends before but since the loss of part of her abilities, she had been far more standoffish with people.
So with a new addition to her pack, things were really starting to look up for the werewolf and she really didn’t mind. Once Agnes grabbed her hand, the she-wolf blinked several times, a little confused. While she had been in human contact with others before and it wasn’t like this was a foreign thing to her she was a little confused. She was thanked though, so her confusion turned into an immediate grin with a jovial tint to it.
“No worries and believe it or not I think I needed it too,” Emerald replied, a sort of embarrassed grin on her face. Her tail started to wag once again, showing she was at ease with the whole situation once again. Oddly enough, Emerald’s tail and her body language was more definitive onto her feelings than her face was. That and she had somewhat adopted the movements and mannerisms of a wolf at times. “Want to get anything to eat or another milkshake cause I could totally get you some more stuff.”
The she-wolf would wait for an answer just as Gina walked into the small Diner. Emerald had scented her a few times on campus but that was only because Emerald tended to get the scents of a good deal of people on campus. That and the fact that when she stopped by Agnes’ room she caught the scent round the outside of the room. This girl was possibly her roommate, possibly looking for the “kidnapped” bug girl.
Wether or not she was right she did not know but what she did know was that it would seem that Agnes was being called to judging by the waving and calling out she was hearing. While she didn’t have wolf ears, her ears did occasionally twitch when they heard loud noises and this was no exception. The pointed, non vulvan ears twitched a little.
“I think she wants to come over. You can go ahead and invite her, I don’t mind, but it may be best if you do it. You know I have the whole big bad wolf appearance about me.” Emerald told Agnes, shrugging a little. The last thing the wolf girl wanted to do was to scare the other girl off.
Agnes tilted a little as she looked at the look on Emerald’s face. For a moment she wondered if maybe she had just overstepped the line and done something that the wolf-girl was simply uncomfortable with. But the runaway really had no way to save face during the interaction. She was merely patting the girl’s hand as a reassurance that she understood, that she was of like mind, and most of all that she was thankful for all her kind words. She really did not aim to make her uncomfortable. But in the end, Emerald seemed to take the gesture in stride.
>> “No worries and believe it or not I think I needed it too…Want to get anything to eat or another milkshake cause I could totally get you some more stuff.”
Agnes laughed. Where was this friendship when she was starving on the streets? But Agnes despite the excellent intentions, really, there was little more that Agnes could eat. The milkshake alone was filling her up and on top of that she did not want Emerald to be buying her so much today. The milkshake was fine and she was thankful for that. That was all she needed.
Gently she shook her head as she took another sip of her milkshake and smiled warmly. “No, no, seriously, I doubt I can take another sip or bite after this,” she said with a grin.
>> "Agnes! Hey, Agnes!"
Agnes suddenly seemed startled by the loud noise. For the briefest of moments she had no idea who that was directly to but her muddled mind cleared up from milkshake as she realized that indeed her name was the only name being called out.
Cautiously she turned and peered across the diner and it was then that she spied those familiar wings and that beaming, bright face. She grinned as she spied Gina and waved back at her! Her sister just had a knack for finding her wherever she was at. She had to say that she loved that little gargoyle so very much. She always happened to be the brightest ray of sunshine in her life. But…why was she here? Was it simply coincidence?
She glanced back to Emerald, a little sorry for the interruption. Not because she was embarrassed or anything, but simply because she did not know how Emerald was going to react to another person showing up. Especially someone as close as Gina was…
“That’s my sister, Gina.”
>> “I think she wants to come over. You can go ahead and invite her, I don’t mind, but it may be best if you do it. You know I have the whole big bad wolf appearance about me.”
She smirked as she nodded her head. “Okay, I’ll be right back.”
Sliding her lithe frame out from the table, she smoothed her jeans down as she moved over to the front of the restaurant and spied the always happy-inducing Gina. She grinned wide as she walked up to hug her sister tightly.
“Gina, what’re you doing here?” she smiled brightly. “Spying on me, eh? You want to join me an Emerald? We’re having milkshakes!”

The girl who was dining with Agnes glannced up at her. Gina didn't know her personally, but she recognized the girl's face. She was at Xavier's, too. Gina knew she was a tough girl with a temper, but didn't know her mutation. Were they going to let her hang around or send her away? The other girl leaned toward Agnes, said something, and tossed a shrug. Gina glanced at the hostess with a patient smile.
Agnes turned in her seat, momentarily confused, before realizing who it was who'd been hollering at her. Gina dropped her hand as Agnes turned back to Emerald, waiting. Agnes nodded, and then started maneuvering her way over towards Gina. She beamed, for the signs were looking promising. Agnes finally reached her, and the two of them shared a hug in greeting.
“Gina, what’re you doing here?-- Spying on me, eh?"
"I was hungering for some really good icecream," Gina answered genuinely, giving a short laugh. She waggled her brows at Agnes and said, "I'm like a disease, you can't get rid of me-- no, but in all seriousness, I was just hungering for some icecream, and this place sounds so good with how everyone talks about it-- figured I'd give it a whirl."
"You want to join me an Emerald? We’re having milkshakes!”
"Sure!" Gina agreed, looking past her sister and giving Agnes a quizzical glance. Her wordless glance was asking Agnes how they were associated, because you never really knew-- were they just friends, or on a date, or...? Did Agnes have a thing for tough girls, because if she did, Gina was perusing in the wrong direction. Lest Agnes couldn't interpret the inquiry behind Gina's gaze, Gina cut straight to the point and just asked Agnes, "I mean, if this isn't a date, or anything?"
Because, if it was, Gina didn't want to intrude on that-- however much she desired company, she wasn't at all eager to become the squeaky third wheel. Particularly when it came to tough cookies like "Emerald".
