The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Saph was doing just that. Looking around. Looking around was a lot harder to do, though, when you were not trying to look like you were looking around. He glanced over to Drew and the girl, and then up into the tree again, trying to feel out the area with his extra sense... nothing was moving, though... not fast at least.
The girl, as Drew asked about going to the store, paused, and waved her hands as if to stop him. "No! I mean... no, that's fine. Hee hee. I have some cat food with me right here! I don't know why I forgot to use it before, hee hee!" He reached into her little pockets and produced a can of tuna, handing it to him.
Saph knew something was up with that... Was she trying to keep them here? Was she even real? He took another step around the tree, and froze when he felt something... Something had moved just at the end of his sense area... It stopped though. He took another step. it moved again.
"Hmm..." He might be able to work this... "Andrew, you got the catfood? C'mere, we'll think of a plan!" He waved Andrew over... He had a hunch... If it was correct, they might be able to end this little mystery once and for all, and get that drink. After a long day of crime fighting, he could sure use it.

Ok, now he was sure something fishy was up. The moment he tried to leave, even just to get cat food, the girl put a stop to it with a tin of food that she just seemed to have had but forgotten. If Drew had been doubting that things weren't as they seemed that would have made him suspicious. He took the can of cat food and walked over to his partner in heroics when he beckoned.
"So what've you got? I find it pretty darn convenient that she just so happened to have cat food that she remembered only when I was going to leave."
Drew shot a glance to the girl but brought his attention back to Masochist before she looked back at them. Even without super senses he could tell that something here wasn't right and it had to do with that girl and that cat.
"If it weren't for what might happen to some other poor schmuck if they got caught in this I'd be all for bailing."
As annoying as this was it was better that it happen to him than to someone else, someone perhaps not accustomed to having life throw curve balls at them. Lord knew that Drew was plenty used to getting a normal day turned upside down by now.

"I dunno. I'm starting to think this might be a little more than a harmless prank... They might be targeting me- If that's the case, i'm sorry you got involved in this. We'll find out soon, though. The way I see it is I don't think who, or what ever is doing this is onto us... That means they can't hear what we are saying when we huddle like this... I've seen stuff like this before. There was this girl who threw fake flames at me once. I think it's all an illusion. And that means if they want to hear what we are saying... they gotta get close...Try to listen in..." Saph paused, and nodded slowly. "I feel them moving... They'll be right behind you soon... You got a decent right hook? When I tell you... spin, and swing... We might be able to end this right here...." Saph went on acting as if he was coming up with a really brilliant plan, biding their time for a moment... The mystery runner came to a stop right behind Drew, and....
"NOW!" Saph stepped back to get out of the young man's way, and watched in anticipation.

There was a plan. And it involved swinging at someone he couldn't see in the hopes of hitting them and ending what the guy clearly thought was an illusion. Drew added another encounter to the 'strange stuff I've seen/done' list in his head as he prepared to swing. On the count Drew whirled around with the prescribed right hook and felt it solidly connect with something. He blinked.
"Well I hit something."
Certain things in his line of vision began to ripple. The girl for one. Drew took another swing, hoping that the person would still be in front of him. No such luck as his fist sailed through empty air. Since his back was now to Masochist, Drew looked over his shoulder and raised an eyebrow.
