The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Well, the question is, who wants in on it? It could be explained away as Sapphire's condition in introducing them to the resistance... first save her sisters, then she'll help them.

No offense Cass, but you've only been back for a couple of weeks. The plot has only been going for three OOC months, which really isn't bad, considering its a board-wide post that involves at least 40 active to semi-active members.
Mini raids sound fine, for those in the camps that want to rp with it, though I would suggest finding out who would want to before the actual posting. It would improve efficency.
I'm going to have to stand next to Katrina and Iris on this one. I think the camps should figure out something to do, while the Resistance gets ready. Yes, the people in the Camps have done some very stunning posts and character development. Now it's the Resistance members' turns: things have just started moving for them. Don't take that away. This plot line is site-wide; I'd think the very definition of that is that it includes the whole site. Not just a few people's characters: everyone's.
And just for the record... Congress made the law, not the Church of Humanity. The Church supported it; taking them down will take away a supporter, but it won't make the law vanish. The Congressional end of things needs to get worked as well, which I believe Hunter and Iris are planning on doing. That part of the plot line can get wrapped up after the camp breakout, certainly, but it's vital, and we can't just cut it out. Though for the record, I've never quite understood why we need to deal with the Church at all... It seems that Hunter could just pay a special visit to each Senator, shake their hands, and give them an eye-meeting smile. Presto-chango law...
First of all, we shouldn't make ANY decisions tonight. It wouldn't be fair to the others who aren't online. Everyone should have a say in this.
Second, when things are forced, they are unnatural. Didn't the end of a major battle get rushed and a lot of people were upset because the outcome didn't turn out the way that everything was progressing?
Third, we've only been working on this plot for 3.5 months. I know because I joined right when it started. Didn't the last plot take a year?
Fourth, wrapping up a plot without letting it progress naturally is about the biggest case of God-modding I've ever heard of. You can't take thirty odd people, tell them to write a story, then have one person decide the story should end and write the whole ending without everyone getting a chance to finish their ideas. It isn't fair to anyone. And it's an abuse of power.
If you want playable characters out of the camps, then stage a small scale break out. Do not ruin all the plans that everyone else has been looking forward to for months. If we have to break NPCs out of the camps, I would prefer that over suddenly cutting off the whole plotline.
I don't see how this is cutting off the plotline so much as making it move forward. And the problem with this plot getting stalled is that unlike the last one, this one doesn't allow for other things to happen while it's stalled for many of the characters. Besides... a plot taking even half a year to get done, frankly, is too long.
Mainly because the Camps are not the entire Plotline. Simply a part of it. And six months seems just about right, really, for the amount of members we have.
And Calley, that would be so perfect. lol While he's at it, you think we could get access to the nation's treasury? *smiles innocently*
Actually, re-reading that, I'm not agreeing with how I worded that. A PART of the plot taking that long is too long. The whitmore plot, God that one dragged out forever, but at least each part of it was a manageable length.
Once we get the people in the camps freed, this plot isn't over. There's still stalkers on the loose and martial law for mutants to deal with. Plus dealing with all three groups sitting together in the labs without killing each other.
Agreed with Kat: No decisions tonight. This is something that affects everybody, not just the super-active people like us.
The Resistance is moving again. Things are organized: there was just a confusion of leadership, but it's been resolved now. And, frankly, Sapphire held up the plotline for quite awhile, since she was supposed to be an integral part of the Catching a Stalker mission, but she didn't show up for the meeting: the actual mission was on hold out of respect for Emerald, because everyone in charge of that thought she was just busy in RL, and would be joining shortly. Things are now progressing without her, so they're not stalled any longer.
And agreed, the plot isn't over after the breakout. But the plot before the breakout doesn't need to die a God-Modded hands-waved death just because the camps are ready to be freed. The Resistance has to do more things than the camps, in order to be ready. They got stalled for a bit, but they're moving now, as anyone who's been speaking with Kaz and Abyss would know. So those "things" are getting done as we speak.
I did not think this was an issue, until it was raised as one.

I read the first post, and skipped the rest so sorry if I say something that's already been said, but.
Em, I don't care if you're a GM and plot overseer, chill out. Stop nagging and nagging and nagging, and telling other people to tell others what to do. Stop doing the 3rd party thing. I'm sick and tired of it. You bitch and complain things aren't moving fast enough, but you yourself are dragging your ass and only focusing at the camps. So you have NOTHING to say about the resistance since you aren't helping IC or OOC. Until you start, shut it.
The other thing, the resistance has to do a lot more than the camps. That's how things go. Those that are trying to rescues others have to do a lot more work then those imprisoned. Perhaps you should have thought of that before you and everyone else Okayed this plot, yeah? Yeah. This plot is a lot more...difficult and has more facets than the Haywire plot, and that plot took a year, this one won't go on for as long, but it'll take a bit. If you want a plot that's going to go REALLY REALLY FAST, at your pace, and skip ahead when YOU want it to, write your own story, plot, and characters, and don't do stuff on an RP site like this. Go to Giaonline. RP's there go really fast.
Skipping ahead is not viable for the resistance, at least not skipping ahead great lengths of time. I'm not going to make this into a crap-ass story where crap just happens because it's convenient, that's not the point of role playing. We're basically writing a story. While things can happen in the back ground some things can't. I'm also taking this seriously, as I'm sure more than a few others are. Seriously as in 'real in a fiction sense'. What would a resistance do? 1) Gather strength. 2) Gather information within and from without, strengths and weaknesses of itself and those they are fighting against 3) Plan 4) Drills and practice tactics 5) Fight small fights, small victories on multiple fronts/areas 6) Go after the main opposition with a united front.
Currently the Resistance is between 3 and 5.
Hades has asked for a 10day break because he will be unavailable, I said it's fine with me. He has information and his character is fairly important to the resistance. Even if you don't think planning, training, and such are important Em, they are. If your character and fave RP buddies are the most important thing to you about the RP site here (which is how it's seeming), you've got things a bit messed up.
The Xmen, Order, and Kabal that are in the Resistance need to learn to work together (which is partially what this plot is for in the first place) so random Xmen doing all the work and freeing everyone...shouldn't work. Period. But seeing as you're vary bias towards the Xmen, I can see how you'd want to have them 'get all the glory'.
That is my two cents for now, as I'm a bit too heated to keep going without repeating myself more.
The problem is that the training/planning is going on in an extremely extended fashion. What we need now is a plan to get this moving again, or more accurately get everyone moving in the same direction. Right now we have two separate factions that are working separately toward goals that are at least similar, if not the same. And while it's realistic for Hunter's group to just sit back an plan slowly, it's not realistic for everyone else. So we need to figure out what to do. This thread needs INPUT and PLANS, not vitriol and personal attacks.
So if you have a plan on how to get things moving again and get all the groups working together, please, I really, honestly would love to hear it. But right now we have various little factions of the groups all talking together and having their own ideas, which don't seem to be meshing. So can we skip the little personal vendettas and do what this thread is intended to do and TALK and FIGURE OUT how we're going to do this?
I agree with both sides on this issue, I think we are stalling a bit as far camps are concerned, but no need to fast forward to the end. It seems as things are now picking up and in my opinion its going at a normal pace. My resolution is leave things the way they are, and find something to make camps more interesting, maybe a fail attempt to escape or somthing like that.
Now Kaz, I value your ideas, but that was not nice at all, no need to be heated over this topic, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and Emmy is a Mod so you got to respect that even if you don't like it. I agree with what your saying but no one is gonna listen to you if your imsulting them, ok! no harm done right?
*Since we are on this topic, Deathstar would one of those people who will break out, she isn't the kind of chick to just sit around*

I think the main problem is there isn't enough for everyone to do so a lot of members are getting really bored. I know with myself, I wasnt planning on bringing Naveed into things until after this plot but I ended up bringing him in and started phasing him into the resistance because I've been so bored with Raina. I did everything I could without being rediculously overdramatic with Raina- and really all of us stuck in the camps have nothing to do.
So I do agree that we need some sort of plot shift to happen in the camps so that everyone there can actually have something to do otherwise I worry we will actually start losing members of the board as people are getting bored!
I think we started the plot in a busy time of real life too. I know I've been busy with university, finals, my birthday and sister's baby's birth, as well as Christmas, and I know others are feeling the same way.
I also think maybe we spent too much time planning this plot and planned a little too much so that when the plot actually started there wasnt very much to do because it had all been done! Maybe something to keep in mind for next time
Anyway, as for a solution, I think we need to give members in other areas then the camp a chance to catch up, while also including something for the people in the camps to do. Perhaps some mutants could be accompanied by special workers or something to do BS community service so the government can say they're working towards peace and intigration when really we all know what's happening behind the scene? I don't know that was just literly a random thought! lol
But, as I may say as one of the more older in age member of this rpg, there isn't a need to take things so seriously. Sure, we're all being creative and expanding as individuals and having fun- but there's no need for arguments or personal gripes over something as silly as a message board that we use to RPG. I really enjoy this place a lot, and admit I've gotten into scuffles in the past with certain people but have worked past it and njoyed my time here and not let silly things get to me. I too often see us take things waaaay too personal in the cbox, or in the threads, and in Emmy's defense (and I can sincerely say this as Em knows she and I have had our disagreements in the past before!) She's just getting bored and feeling drawn out like the rest of us. Seriously, I know I am! Honestly. And she did just ask us what we think. So regardless of what you think of her, how she'd a MOD, or her ideas, there's no need for everyone to start lashing out at each other. We've had a lot of new members join during this plot and I feel that there is only a small percentage of us actually posting on a daily basis. (though this is the holidays right now, so it's rightfully slow)
So what is the solution? I dont know. Let's develop a sub-plot line for those of us in the camps to keep busy till the resistance comes. I know Cal and I have been planning for months about Raina and Rupert and the breakout so I'd really like a chance for that to come to fruition.
We can all agree that areas of this plot are really slow and boring despite everyone's best effort. So instead of arguing with each other, let's start brainstorming what we can do in the camps thread to keep everyone occupied without getting carried away eh?
Having just had a read through of all the above I feel it is time for me to wade in with my say. First of all, apologies for my relative inactivity, my laptop is on the fritz and so I am working on borrowed machines. Now, to buisness.
First and foremost, I am completely, wholeheartedly 100% against any sort of skipping with the Resistance. We have new people, and they need to get to know each other to work as a unit. We can gloss over training if needs be, but it has to be there in some shape or form. Like it or not, we have lots of stuff to do. The people in the camps have less, that's the way life is. It's unfair, but true.
I'd like to take the oppurtunity to point something out. The resistance has nothing to do with the CoH, only me Iris and Katrina are going anywhere near there. The resistance are to do camp raids. Also, the X-men all guns blazing will fail, as the only X-men not in the camps are Fade and Cassiel if I'm correct, neither of which are well suited to fighting Stalkers. For any serious attempt to raid the camps to happen it has to be by the resistance, as they are the only ones properly equipped to fight Stalkers on anything approaching a level playing field.
I can understand you want to move forward, as stagnation is dull, but I am afraid that people not in the camps have things to do, and like it or not these things have to happen. That is a fundamental flaw with this plot. Those in the camps have less to do. Just because you are bored in the camps doesn't mean you can cut everyone else out and say "right, I want this this and this to happen to make it exciting for me". Is that harsh? Yes. Is it true? Yes.
