The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

(OOC: continued from lost without direction. Lets make this fun for both of us)
His legs hurt. He had been walking all day, and now he was running from Abyss. He bolted out of central park without looking back, his feet, though feeling slightely numb, carring him as fast as ever. He crossed a busy street with little difficulty, weaving through a couple cars with well timed movement. As he got to the other side he stopped for a second and turned panting hard to see if the brute was still following him.
Turning to his left, he noticed the entrence to a subway station. Lacking any other good ideas, Nail jogged over, and stumbled down the stairs. The place smelled funny, and was totally empty. He was kinda hoping there would be people down here to call the police, but no such luck. He hoped over the toll gate easy enough, and moved into the main subway station. The lights continuously flicked on and off, and there wasn't a single wall tie that wasn't cracked.
"Dammit... I just cornered myself."
Turning to the entrence once more, Nail focused on his arm, concentrating on the familiar tingling sensation once more.He watched as a crude diamond blade began to take shape. The extra bit of diamond added about a foot of reach to his right arm. He tried the same with his left arm, which yielded similar results. Both blades were crude and imperfect, but they would have to do.
Nail prepared himself as he saw the giant lumber down the staircase. He could feel his chest thud as the monster ripped the turnstile from the ground with ease. There was no way he could beat this guy if he overtook him. He was just way too strong. I mean... come on. He’s tossing a turnstile in his hand like its nothing!
With the creation of six more brutes, Nail seriously doubted his chances of making it out of this subway alive. The six extra men stood like statues, creating an intimidating wall between him and freedom. <<I’m locked in an arena with six other opponents waiting to take this guys place… Might as well make them regret it before I die…>>
“I like you, you are bold, I offered and you took, in different circumstances we might have worked well together. Heck, in different circumstances we might still work well together.”
The giant charged him, tossing the turnstile at him simultaneously. Nail watched for that split second as the hunk of metal flew towards him with unfathomable force behind it. His mind reeled, but it was his body it seemed that finally took action. He fell backwards lifting his forearms to protect his face. He felt the projectile smash against the blades slightly, and continue on its trajectory over him. The force of the impact sent him flying backwards while he fell.
He landed on his back as the sound of the turnstile slamming against the far wall reached his ears. He had landed about three feet from where he was standing, and had nearly knocked the wind out of himself. However, the adrenaline was still pumping, and he quickly got himself to his feet by somersaulting backwards. As he got to his feet, Abyss was already upon him, taking hold of his forearms rendering them useless.
He tried to concentrate, but he was under far too much stress and far too scarred for his life to control it properly. A single jagged crystalline spike shot forth from Nail chest, ripping through his hoody easily. The spike shot to about four feet long, and was shooting directly towards Abyss’s chest. The spike was not exactly what he wanted at this moment, but it would hopefully make the big guy release his grip, and also give him some space to work with…
Abyss ignored Nails accidental attack, though he could tell he had done some damage. Where Abyss’s tail had grabbed his leg, a layer of crystal did form. However, that wasn’t where he needed it. Abyss’s legs blasted into his gut, causing Nail to arch awkwardly in mid air. He felt his throat tighten as he puked up the bread rolls he had eaten earlier.
The tail caught him in his momentum, causing him to slam into the ground painfully. Before he hit the ground, multiple sheets of crystal formed along his spine, shoulder blades, and the back of his head. Crystal, however, isn’t a very comfortable safety padding.
As he hit the floor, with the sound of crystal upon the cold cement floor, something sparked inside of him. The same familiar sensation when his life had been threatened before. He desire to live, and fight back. A flame somewhere in the back of his mind suddenly ignited, and he no longer controlled his actions.
Spikes shot from his back, pushing against the cement floor and raising him to his feet, and then quickly receded into his back again. The spike that was once protruding from his chest receded, forming a breastplate of glistening crystal across his chest. His shins and feet where quickly covered in crystal as well, and he was no longer standing on his feet, but two crude double edged blade similar to the ones on his arms.
The most distinguishing feature was that the crystal had begun to form around his head, covering most of it except the left half of his face and his right eye. Small glistening spikes protruded from his forehead, and the glistening features of the crystal mask seemed distorted and filled with rage.
He was ready now, with no regret in his mind. He was willing to kill if necessary.
“Nrrraaaaagh!”
Without warning Nail lunged forward. The sound of his bladed feat made a menacing chiming sound against the cement. Three quick vertical slashes where made at Abyss’s chest. They weren’t well placed attacks, but they were quick. Abyss would have some trouble dealing with the slashes no doubt, but it was unlikely they would do any vital damage. Nail was far beyond thinking things through enough to actually make well placed attacks.
(Alright. I guess I dragged this out long enough. Time to be hauled off.)
The raging diamond slashed at the air wildly, and for every swipe to which he felt only air, his rage grew. However, when his third attack landed in his opponents shoulder hard, and the beast within nail was pleased with the sight of flesh being torn apart.
A menacing grin flashed across nails features, one filled with pleasure by inflicting pain on his attacker. That face was suddenly shattered, as Nails eyes opened wide, as if in realizing of his actions for the first time.
Pulling the blade from Abyss’s shoulder, he looked down at the crude, bloody blade that was his arm, the once menacing face now full of what looked like terror. Looking up however, he was met with sudden darkness and a strange buzzing sound.
As the cables came in contact with his crystal mask, it lit up in a horrifying display. The crystal only seemed to intensify the twisted look of agony on his face. His limbs quivered and danced with light in an eerie display in the now dark subway. Bolts of electricity jumped from his pointed blade-like legs, frantically trying to reach the ground and complete the circuit.
His body filled with countless volts of electricity, Nail passed out almost instantly. His body however acted on its own, seeking to save itself from the pain of electrocution. His entire body was encased in armor, and spikes began to shoot out in random directions, seeking to ward away the danger. At least three spikes would shoot past Abyss, embedding themselves in the wall next to him, missing him by mere inches.
When the current ceased flowing through his body, the room would become dark. The crystal would slowly recede back into nails body. The ordeal would leave him unconscious for some time. One piece of the armor did not receded back into his body however. Above his right eye, a jagged jewel looked as though it was embedded in his forehead. It was where Abyss had placed his attack initially. A red line appeared at the edge of the “scar” and a small trickle of blood oozed it’s was along the grooves of the jewel.
It seemed that Abyss had left some permanent damage, a scar of some sort. Or maybe Nails body still believed that area needed protection. In either case, it didn’t really matter. Nail was unconscious, at the mercy of his captor. He wore a troubled face in his sleep, probably because his subconscious knew he wasn’t going to like what he woke up to.
