The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Nicki finished off the sundae and grabbed her fork, moving on to the pie. "My brother idolized my father; we both did in a way. He thought it was for the best that's all. It happens." Nicki shrugged. She was okay. She was fine.
Nicki chuckled as Kaz caught her eye. "Yeah, no problem. Just like you said...interesting stain" She smiled brightly, happy to have eye contact again. "You know something...you have really pretty eyes" she smiled.

"I envy you a bit for that. I don't..never idolized my parents, or anyone for that matter. It'd be interesting to know how it feels, what it's like." He had a bit more of his float before raising the glass and drinking some of the pop down. "...you have really pretty eyes." Kaz nearly choaked on the pop, a bit of ice cream touched his nose. Setting the glass down he focused on swallowing the liquid down the right tube, before he wiped the ice cream from his nose. His mind was blank, and so was his face, almost. Anyone who looked could tell he was searching his head for something to say, but was totally dumbstruck. Like he had just been giving the secret of life itself, but was too surprised about it to remember it.

Nicki smiled and picked up her napkin, leaning across the table and dabbing Kaz's nose. "You had ice cream on your nose" Nicki smiled happily and popped a bit of her pie into her mouth, chewing. "Are you okay? Did I say something wrong?" Nicki asked, getting concerned.

Kaz put his hands up in a helpless, like someone who's giving up. "How to answer that.." Sighing, "Thanks, by the way. Umm...Ahh...I've. Let me try again." Clearing his throat. "No one's ever said that before. Ever. So, easy to say it was a bit of a shocker. Took my brain a bit to process and figure out how to deal with that." Kaz laughed lightly. He put the straw in the glass and sipped some rootbeer before he used the spoon again.

"I can't believe no one has ever told you that. They really are..." Nicki smiled happily, forking some more pie into her mouth. "And don't worry, you're adorable when you're brain's all inactive like" she chuckled, sipping her shake again.

Kaz sighed as his head dropped limply to his chest. Looking up at Nicki, "Oiy." Mumbling, "People usually think they're creepy, or get nervous." Lifting his head back up he looked at her fully. "They're blood red, like crimson rubies. I've been told they look like fresh blood is flowing through them, like a pool. Where they seen their own death, or the death of others in them. The blackness a void in which their soul will be lost." Realizing he probably got a bit darker than he should have, "And stop doing that. I am not adorable. You're totally breaking my hard earned immage here." He smiled at her.

Nicki looked at him, truly confused. "Are you serious? You're eyes are filled with life...not death" Nicki shook her head, placing her fork down as she finished her pie. "I'll never understand people..."
Nicki smiled, sipping up the last of her shake. "I'm sorry I don't see you as the punk ass you pretend to be...and I can't help it if you're adorable" she laughed.

Nodding, "Totally serious. When I look in a mirror, I see my own death in them. Lying on the ground, a pool of blood all around me." Shrugging. "Well, it's hard to be a hard ass with some one as sweet and cute as you around. If I acted like that, I think I'd want to shoot my self for feeling guilty."

"Life and death are linked. What can bring life also can bring death. I think it's clear that there is more to you than death...even if you only see that side of it..." Nicki shrugged a little, smiling in a knowing way.
Nicki's cheeks flushed slightly. "Thanks. I'm glad I bring out some goodness in you" she smiled happily.

"I'd hope there's more, otherwise...wouldn't I be dead?" He wasn't trying to be a smart ass towards her, but trying to bring his thought train back to the light side of things. <The light can push the darkness away only for so long. Everything is consumed by darnkess eventually. It always pushes harder to come back, till it swells with unstoppable force and speed, catching everything off guard.> "If you keep at it, the seed might begin to grow healthily." He smiled and signaled for the check. The waitress brought the bill, setting it face down on the table. Kaz grabbed it, checked the price, and shrugged. Pulling out his wallet, he flipped through the bills, and grabbed a $50 bill. He handed it to the waitress, "Keep the change as a tip." Looking at Nicki, "So what other plans you have for the day?"

Nicki smiled at Kaz's commment but she managed to keep the color out of her cheeks.
"Thank you again for the food. Very much appreciated" Nicki smiled and stood up, waiting for Kaz to join her. "I didn't have any plans...I planned on sitting in my room like a hermit and reading. What about you? Did you have any plans?" Nicki asked.

"No problem Nicki." He stood and took Nicki's hand in his and headed out the door. "Not any in particular. I was thinking I might go check out the Sword Club, just for the hell of it, or go work out. Or find a deep pool." He laughed at that. Looking at the girl beside him, "Have you thought about sitting outside and reading? At least then you're not cooped up."

"Sword club? What's that?" Nicki asked, moving a little closer to Kaz. She really liked the boy next to her, and she really liked being close to him.
"Reading outside? Meh, I do that sometimes, but usually there are people outside and that sort of defeats the purpose of being alone with your thoughts you know? People come over and talk to you and ask what you're reading or why you're reading and then you just feel weird..." Nicki shrugged, turning towards Kaz. "That sounded a little anti-social huh?"

Kaz laughed a bit as he let the girl get closer. "A Sword Club is a place where people who have an interest in swordsmanship go to learn, how to use a sword. I started going there when I moved here. I sorta became an instructor shortly after." Smirking to himself. "I can understand not wanting to be bothered by people while you read. You just need to find a place outside that people won't go out of there way to bother you. It's a bit anti-social, but its also understandable."

"Wow...an instructor huh? You must be pretty good" Nicki smiled, looking over to Kaz. "So you could teach me sometime or something?" Nicki asked, partially joking...well, at least making it sound like she was joking so she could play it off if Kaz said no.
"I've found a few places...I used to hide in the loft of my neighbor's barn to read and I coulda stayed up there all day. Same thing with the high grass near the pond back home, but I don't know if I'll be able to find anything like that here..."
