The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

This was. A really stupid idea. Aurum had told him as much. Shin had confirmed this several times. It was painful. It was bold. It was foolish. And dammit... it was the right thing to do.
Shin didn't want to get petty theft on his criminal record.
Was stealing a motorcycle petty theft?
Technically, that motor cycle had been his. Well. His body's. When he'd taken it. Without asking. And left it in the X-men's garage.
Nobody had seemed to complain about him taking it! There'd been no police.
According to Aurum, Abyss usually ran foul of police. Shin had seen that firsthand. He'd been shot at. Abyss was, apparently, not a nice man. People at the Sanctuary, as far as Shin knew, were not very nice men. Or women. Or people. Or mutants? Whatever.
This mission was dangerous. Kealey would be pissed.
Kealey being pissed was apparently at the forefront of his mind, above all other terrifying possibilities for ticked off evil mutants. Strange.
Shin wheeled the Harley Davidson motorcycle through the open garage door, into the darkness of the garage. On its handlebar, there was a hastily-scrawled 'I'm Sorry' pinned. He hadn't left a name or a number. Why risk it? If the guy found the note, he didn't need to know who'd taken it. And Shin had taken excellent care of the bike, so... really. This was cool. Things'd be sweet.
Shin let go of the bike after propping it on its kickstand. He turned, and hopefully walked towards the way he came in. Maybe nobody would see him before he was gone for good? No witnesses? Yeah! That'd be great.

There were a number of dangerous things in the Sanctuary's garage that children generally had no business being around. Things such as power tools, which Kaitlyn Faust and the few residents her age were explicitly banned from even touching, much less using to drill holes in the wall to facilitate the comings and goings of a certain young rat-shifter and his furry friends. Things such as the helicopter, which Kaitlyn Faust in particular was advised to stay away from at all times, because she was not qualified to fly it, no matter what she said, and she would probably end up killing herself and destroying the chopper if she tried.
The Sanctuary residents were all well aware that she was not actually an ex-air force pilot with an uncontrollable age-shifting mutation. Nor was she a telepath who recently became a proficient pilot by reading the mind of an ex-military helicopter pilot. Everyone knew by now that she was a ten year old girl whose sole mutation was to periodically destroy Sanctuary property, injure other residents, and knock a massive dent in her adoptive mother's bank account. And, no, it most certainly did not matter that she was going to turn 11 later this month. She was to stay away from that helicopter at all times. It was expensive, it was probably important, and they didn't want her near it.
Today, Kaitlyn was sitting in the pilot's seat of the Sancutary's helicopter. But she was just reading a book. The one that Ms. Cook, Kaitlyn's private tutor, had assigned for her to read over the summer, and that she had held off on actually reading for as long as possible. The words "House of the Scorpion" adorned its hard cover in big, red letters above a red silhouette of a scorpion which she consciously tried to keep her hands away from as she held the tome, lest the drawing come to life and try to sting her hand. It had happened once before.
When Kaitlyn heard the roar of a motorcycle echo through the Sanctuary's cavernous garage, the book's hard cover disintegrated in her hands, and pages went flying around in the cockpit and out of the openings on either side of the chopper. Kaitlyn didn't want anyone to see her in there, and she wasn't expecting anyone else to be here. She scrambled out of her seat and, keeping her head low, ducked between a pair of unusually nice cars that currently lacked license plates. As the man rode by her hiding spot, she got a good look at him.
He looked unfamiliar. And he was a little bit too well-dressed to be confused for the average Sanctuary resident, Kaitlyn decided. Maybe he was in the Order. And a new person in the Order, no less. Why else would someone that well-dressed, who owned a motorcycle that nice, be hanging around the Sanctuary? With no complaints about her proximity to the helicopter forthcoming, she decided to relinquish her hiding spot and see if she could test her theory about his Order allegiance. Maybe she could get him to tell her something about their organization that she didn't know yet.
As the tiny Orderling stood up to look at him, she noticed that she was right in the middle of his field of vision, and quickly realized how suspicious she must have appeared, jumping out from a hiding place to suddenly greet him in an otherwise unpopulated garage. For a few awkward moments, she just stared at him.
"...Hi. I like your motorcycle."
...You've heard stories about me? Don't listen to them! It's safe to sit next to me, really!

Words came from ahead of him. Because apparently, there had been a girl in a helicopter he had not seen directly ahead of him, in his field of vision. She liked his motorcycle.
Shin glanced sadly over his shoulder at the beautiful machine, and said "I liked it, too." A shame he was giving it up. But a stolen vehicle was a stolen vehicle, even despite the fact that it had technically been taken in the body of the correct owner at the time of its thievery. Abyss had merely left his motorcycle where he could not reach it. Yes.
The Asian's focus returned to the girl. She was a tiny girl, he realized. Far too small to be near such a big helicopter. And why the helicopter was there in the first place, he did not know. "That helicopter..." He trailed. Not on purpose. The noting and saying of 'that helicopter' out loud was an accident. Because when you see a big helicopter, that's what you say. It goes with the territory. But, she did not know this. Would not.
Shin did not yet move to go. It was a very big helicopter. His eyes strayed for a moment, curiously/suspiciously checking its exact measurements and features.
If a helicopter that big was here illegally, it would probably be good to alert the police. But he probably wouldn't. Because according to his research (barely any), letting them know he'd been here, and why he'd been here to discover such a thing would be ill-advised.

Liked?
Her curiosity piqued, Kaitlyn took a few steps towards the bike to get a better look at it. From this angle, she could discern that the note was there, but not what was written on it.
She waited politely for the Asian to finish what he was saying about that helicopter. Was it stolen from him? That wouldn't surprise her, if not for her suspicions that he was in the Order. Was he the person who was supposed to pilot it now? This would surprise her; nobody ever used the helicopter. It was literally collecting dust.
When she realized that he wasn't going to say anything else, she introduced herself. "I'm Kaitlyn. Lori's my mom."
She assumed that a probably-Order-member like him would know who that was.

Shin didn't offhandedly know anyone named Lori. At least, they weren't currently a major part of his life.
"Okay," He said agreeably. A glance over his shoulder was chanced. A peek at freedom. "Well, I'd better be leaving. You take care. And don't try and fly that helicopter..."
She'd been sneaking around in a helicopter. Of course there was cause for concern. Even if he didn't fully know if she had, in fact, been sneaking, or really, anything at all.
He didn't know anything. He was absolutely blank when it came to sanctuary details. All he knew was that it was a bad place.
Shin took a step backwards, without turning around. Then, he took another.

The newcomer didn't seem to have much to say about Lori, or Kaitlyn's status as Lori's child. He just seemed really... jumpy? He seemed really jumpy. This man was not an Order member. An Orderling wouldn't look like he was about to wet himself just because he was in the Sanctuary. There was something fishy going on, here.
>>"You take care. And don't try and fly that helicopter..."
Kaitlyn would have pouted at this under any other circumstances. But now, she was too busy scrutinizing the man before her. She had a gut feeling that something wasn't right about this guy. Her eyes narrowed. Before he left, she wanted to know something about this guy. Why was he leaving his bike here? Who was he?
"Hey," she said. "What's your name? I don't recognize you."
