Max walked up to the front gate of the mansion with the bag carrying his belongings hanging from his shoulder. The bus he had taken dropped him fairly close to where he had wanted to be. He had considered taking a cab but, he had not wanted to pay the fair and Max would likely end up doing some kind of damage to the poor vehicle that he would end up paying for. No, his own two feet were good enough for him anyway.
The whole place seemed pretty massive just from the look of it, and very well maintained. Max examined the gate and opened it cautiously. Surprised it wasn’t locked, Max continued down the path towards the mansion’s front door. The image of the place look like it had been stolen off a brochure from some Ivy League college.
It all seemed surreal to Max as he kept walking and looking around. He almost laughed at himself as he realized what he was doing. The small town kid from Texas made his first trip to New York and can’t stop gawking at the big city, he thought.
Finally reaching the front door he stopped and paused. Max had finally gotten away from home, this trip had felt like a mini-adventure for him. And hopefully within the few hours he could get answers to the many questions the letter had raised. Max gently rang the doorbell and waited for someone to answer.

Phase wasn't quite sure what to make of the whole day. She was excited, which was good enough. But she was also tired as hell, jet-lagged out of her mind, and a little bit hungry. Now she knew why people hated flying.
To top it all off, she'd literally been dragged here and there with out any say or do. The airport, the bus ride to Payson Ave...even her Pandora account had decided to lead her onto a crusade through a bunch of electronica that she didn't know. This whole place was totally new to her, and that fact still seemed to have yet to click in Phase's head.
She did know one thing for sure: this place was huge.
Not New York City, she already knew just how sprawled out and obscenely-sized it was. But this school was positively enormous. Part of her mind went off wandering in and amongst the trees and grass fields that seemed to go on forever. The other part wondered just how much tuition was at this place.
Then the gate caught her eye. PArtly because it was also very large and imposing, but mostly because it was open.
"Who the hell has a big fancy gate and just leaves it unlocked?" she thought. well, it was her thought until she caught sight of the guy who had evidently walked through it. Maybe that had something to do with it. Her thoughts drifted around in Phase's head. Most of them were about him. Who he was, what he was, how ridiculously tall he was, how attractive he looked (from the rear, anyways)...
The thought clicked in her head. Seeing as he was probably a student too, maybe he knew where to check in. Because she certainly didn't. She wouldn't have even noticed the doorbell, let alone have the guts to ring it.
Phase made one of her famous snap decisions, and decided to introduce herself.
She slowly, calmly, walked up behind him, acting natural. As she did, she grabbed a notepad and paper out of her duffel bag and scrawled a short note. When she got up behind him, she tapped him lightly on the shoulder a couple times, and held up the notepad, which read, "Do you know where I can find the Admissions office?"
