This waiting up all night was getting old. Especially since they still had another six years before Jude was legally considered an adult. It was now past midnight, and he was driving back to the clinic to see if Jude had returned there, rather than to the mansion. Ghost waited at the mansion.
He was so grounded. Again. Times two. Until the end of the century. So help him, he'd move the boy to some tiny town too small to even have a bar.
So. Help. Him.
Rain sloshed against his windshield. It was difficult to see the road in front of him through the downpour, let alone any small boys that may have been hurrying home along any of these sidewalks. Useless.
Sebastian parked the car in the alley next to the building, gave a cursory glance up at the fire escape, then walked around to the front door. A white sheet of paper, drenched through, hung on the window. His heart leaped, thinking it might be from Jude, hoping it wouldn't be a ransom note.
It was neither.
“We regret to inform you that as of now, this clinic has been closed until further notice... blah blah blah... illegal practice of medicine...,” a lot of it was watered out.
Sebastian crumpled (read: squished) it up. He had bigger things to worry about right now. Like his missing son.
A quick glance was all it took to tell that Jude wasn't home. Since visibility was so awful in the car, he decided to go looking on foot.
Or hoof, as the case may be.
