The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Crash looked over his left shoulder to see Alli scan for her friend before hopping off the bar stool. He turned his head back and right into a right hook from the big guy with the hygiene aversion. The hook sent Crash back a step or two, but he'd fought plenty of big guys before, and that wasn't enough to send him flying. Crash's odorous counterpart shook his fist out and while the crowd was too loud to hear anything, especially with Jeff (god bless him) still belting out songs despite the fight, the man was saying what looked like "What are you made of?" And Crash, with that same volume as before shouted out:
"That's one! You only get one!" Before laying into him a second time. He saw a couple teeth fly loose, and the big guy lumbered off before Crash laughing wildly, started to push through the rest of the crowd with his forearms and elbows, hoping to help Alli's friend or maybe just find somebody who wasn't such a pushover.
Fighting. Too much fighting. While all the fighting was going on, Aurum was doing his best to skitter around and keep out from under foot.
It was hard keeping out of the action. Everyone seemed to want to pull him back in. Fists flew. Feet struck out. Someone threw a bar stool. How they'd gotten it free of the ground was anyone's guess.
Where was Andrea? That's what Aurum wanted to know. He hadn't seen her, in the few minutes since the fight's beginning. He had lost track of the girl and her friend.
"Dammit." He cursed. If only she'd just run around flailing and bump into him. That'd solve some serious problems.
Someone else bumped into him. Aurum bumped straight into the back of some greasy thug with slicked back hair. The man turned, hauled back a fist. Aurum ducked just in time. He got lucky. The person behind him? Not so much.
The man flew through the crowd, straight at Mickey. He swung his arms round and round like a windmill, as if somehow, that'd help him stop. Somehow, it did. He stopped inches from the fight Mickey was involved in. Then, he turned. He raised his arms.
"Okay. This is annoying." Then, he started whipping his arms and kicking up a storm.
Somewhere in the distance was the faint sound of sirens.
Someone, thank goodness, reached out and grabbed Andrea by the shoulders. A quick peep out through her fingers told her that whoever it was had good timing, seeing as she had just about stumbled into the path of a giant thug who was rampaging past. Her grateful thank you turned into a "Thanky-Ooof!" as her savior switched sides on her mid saving. She was tugged back, hefted up, and plopped surprisingly gently onto someones shoulder, and then swung around and carried off to... somewhere.. like a sack of potatoes.
This didn't bode well for a few thrashing mob members, seeing as she had to drop her hand from her eyes to flail at the back of her current captor.... a captor who was saying something that she couldn't hear over the yelling all around her. A handful of men and boys glanced over at her as she was rushed past. More than a few caught her panicked glance and froze up instantly- turning into catatonic human dominoes. The person carrying her popped out of the mass of people, retreating a safe distance away.... and much to her surprise, she was set down. "Dang, you have one hell of a slap kid! Use it on someone who's not tryin' to save your butt next time, kay?"
She blinked at the guy, who had already turned away by the time her eyes locked on him. ...Alright, so maybe he had been the hero type after all... just not the conventional, story book hero. Now that she was out of the fight, she turned to the next thing on her to do list... find her friends, and flee back home where it was dark, quiet, and safe.
"ALLIE!" One gloved hand shot up to cover her eyes again, and she pressed her other against the wall at her side. Come hell or high water... or horrible sore throat... she'd shriek until one of them heard her. "AURUM!?"

Aurum heard. Through the flailing arms and legs of the crowd, he went. Or... at least, that had been how it had been planned, towards the start of it. A looming guy thought not. He loomed. He blocked paths. Aurum rolled his eyes.
You see, a man can only be pushed around so much before he snaps. So much pushing. After all that pushing, one little nudge solved the problem of a conscience. Made people do crazy things. Crazy brave, crazy cool, things.
Aurum hauled back his fist. "Hi." The big guy crumpled as fist met face. In this case, the barista's height had been a blessing. He hadn't had to jump to reach teeth.
Stepping over the crumpled guy in the leather biker's jacket, Aurum moved to Andrea's aid.
"Andrea!" He shouted. He caught her attention and moved to take her hand. "Let's get out of here." The sirens had stopped. In the background, people in black had started filtering in. Police. They had to get out of there now.
