The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lydia placed her sandwich back on its plate while she watched her companion think over her question. She leaned forward a bit, scooting to the edge of her seat while she waited for the answer.
>> “I love him, and he loves me. And that’s really all that matters in the grand scheme of things, isn't it? Is he the one for me? I think so, absolutely.”
She felt her heart melt a little at the answer. It was so sweet and adorable. She let out a little awww and nodded in agreement. “You two sound beyond cute. That Shin must be a great guy, for him to make you this happy.” Lyd felt a little envious, in fact.
>> “When I met his mom in Japan…she thought we were already engaged. Kept calling me his fiancé and telling me how many kids I have to have.”
Lydia giggled at the tale. “I’m guessing your meeting with his mom went well, then? I’ve heard some horror stories about meeting the parent.” Although the people who had told her such stories weren’t exactly the type parents would approve of. Definitely not people like Kealey. But still, potential-mother-in-laws were supposed to be super scary or something like that. She chuckled again, “And how many kids do you have to have now?”
Kealey was so bubbly, Lyd really wanted to just bear-hug the woman. She was certainly not regretting the trip to the mansion, terrible bus ride and all.
>> "What about you? Do you have a boyfriend?"
The girl choked on her sandwich, and ran to the fridge to grab a bottle of water, coughing like crazy. She gulped down the liquid, and felt her airways slowly clear. She took a deep breath after her fit ended and returned to her seat, feeling a bit embarrassed.
“Um, no I don’t. I’ve only made friends since I came here. And, uh, I sort of had a thing with a guy back home, but it’s definitely over, seeing as I haven’t seen or spoken to him since December. I guess I’ve made some interesting friends though.” Lyd normally wasn’t this open with new acquaintances, but Kealey’d been sharing plenty, and the exchange was going great. She naturally felt compelled to reciprocate.

Cute. That’s the word a lot of people used to describe her relationship with Shin, so Kealey smiled and nodded. As to Shin, and being a great guy? ”The best. I could go on for hours. I won’t…that would probably be excessive…but I could.”
Lydia asked about meeting Shin’s parents, and Kealey chuckled preparing to answer, her chuckle turning into a mild choke around a bite of the dwindling sandwich when a question of children arose, no matter if it was in jest. ”Well enough, I suppose. She wasn’t thrilled at first, but I think she warmed up.”
She cleared her throat, ”And none…none at all. Babies and me…kind of oil and water. They’re little crawling bundles of emotion. It’s an experience to be around them.”
They chatted a bit more, and now it was time for Kealey to watch as Lydia choked on her sandwich at the prospect of a boyfriend. Apparently the girl had only made friends since she’d been in the city. She’d had a thing…with this guy. Wasn’t that how it always went?
”It’s only a matter of time, I’m sure, you’re lovely.” the blond complimented, ”And I think it’s impossible to avoid making interesting friends in New York. Oh!” she exclaimed, something coming to mind she’d been asking people when she met them. ”How many people do you know who are actually from New York. There are so few! It’s fascinating.”
Kealey was practically gushing about her man. It was almost too sweet, but fortunately Lyd’s sugar tolerance was high. The girl nodded at the blonde’s comment about her future-mother-in-law, her suspicions validated. Well, there was another con against marriage, not that she was really keeping count.
She chuckled at the woman’s answer to her question about babies. None at all? She suspected it might be more than just their high emotions that was deterring Kealey. “I mean, I’m obviously not old enough yet, but I don’t think I’d be very good with babies. They’re just so…small and fragile, ya know? I feel like I’d break them,” Lydia said. She’d tried babysitting her friend’s baby sister once, and had failed miserably. The first half hour in, she was already flailing and calling for help.
>> “It’s only a matter of time, I’m sure, you’re lovely.”
Awww shucks. The teenager’s face brightened at the compliment, but she shook her head. “I’m not really looking for a relationship right now anyway,” she replied truthfully, “And obviously Shin’s a lucky guy to have you.”
>> “And I think it’s impossible to avoid making interesting friends in New York. Oh! How many people do you know who are actually from New York. There are so few! It’s fascinating.”
“That’s so true!” She consumed the last of her lunch and washed it all down with another gulp of water, very satisfied. “I’ve met people from all over the world, all in this city. Australia, Kentucky, Russia. There are so many interesting people here…and so many mutants. They’re not kidding when they say this city probably contains the largest mutant population. Anyhow, where’re you from, Kealey?” Lydia heard her accent, but wasn’t exactly sure where to place it.

Small and fragile, and breakable…man…babies. Kealey supposed Tarin and Lee’s had been nice enough…but she’d met him while he was still in the womb. That was different. On the whole…babies were a slightly terrifying prospect. All other things and expectations aside…of that Kealey was sure.
The back and forth continued, the two threatening to start one-upping each other’s compliments, in some ways it was the best kind of conversation to have. Yes, Shin was lucky to have her, Kealey thought, but she was just as lucky to have him. She didn’t want to gush…or be one of those people who could not stop talking about themselves.
Lydia wasn’t ready for a relationship and Kealey smiled and nodded her understanding of the girl’s motivations. Sometimes it was nice to just…be, and see where things too you. The blond could appreciate that, maybe better than most. Knowing yourself was important. Very important.
The conversation switched gears, and honestly Kealey was relieved. Romance was a fascinating subject, but difficult to converse about for long periods of time. Nationalities were far easier. Lydia had noticed her accent, and Kealey grinned.
”Ireland.” she said simply. ”People keep telling me that eventually the accent will fade, but I’m not so sure.”
As to the number of mutants, the blond shrugged her shoulders, ”I’ve never noticed how many mutants there were, but there are so many people! I’d never seen anything like it before I came here…but if you can believe it, Tokyo is even more dense than here!”
Enough on that. Normal people didn’t think about things like population density! Kealey changed topics again, to something hopefully more generic and easy to talk about. ”So where is home for you?”
Ah, so Kealey was Irish. “I hope it doesn’t fade. It’s like…very soothing, if that makes sense. I like it, it’s unique.” Lydia had a thing for accents. Her parents had both had distinct French accents, so she’d grown up around that and always thought it the coolest thing in the world.
Kealey hadn’t noticed how many mutants there were? How could she not? She was in a school specifically for them. “Tokyo’s the capital of Japan right? I’ve only been to Canada. Never been anywhere else outside of America.” She thought she might like to travel around the world one day. Although she’d probably never get the money nor manage it by herself…maybe in the future.
>> “So where is home for you?”
Home? It was like Kealey’d been reading her mind. She had been thinking about the concept of home, and if she had one, for a while. At night before she went to sleep she’d turn the idea around in her head, ask answerless questions to whatever entities were out there, and wonder if she’d ever regain that feeling of being at home. But that wasn’t what Kealey was asking. Lydia shrugged off the sadness, suddenly aware that the blonde could probably feel it too, and took a sip of water before answering.
“Home for me? Los Angeles, California. I lived there all my life, up until six months ago. It’s definitely different over here. For one, I was completely unprepared for the snow,” she said with a laugh. One of the only things she hated about New York, the God-forsaken winter weather.

Kealey dipped her head in thanks for the compliment Lydia had given her. Like so many other things, the accent was a part of Kealey and she was loathe to give it up as well. What would be, would be. As to Tokyo being the capital of Japan…Kealey nodded her head.
”It is. We didn’t stay there nearly as long as we stayed in Kyoto though. That’s where Shin’s family is from. I for one was glad. There were so many people in Tokyo. It was distracting to say the least.”
Lydia explained about her home, and Kealey nodded her head in understanding and laughed a bit at the other girl’s lack of experience with snow.
”I wasn’t so unprepared for the climate.” she explained. ”It’s actually much more warm and dry here than Ireland. I’ve heard California is beautiful though. Why did you leave?”
Why had she left? She wondered how to answer the question, because, truth be told, she had no idea why she’d left. “I left because…I guess I just wanted a change of scenery. I was tired of living under the roof with a foster family that hated me too.” She shrugged.
“Why did you leave Ireland? I mean, moving whole continents must be difficult.” Lydia tried to imagine it. Having never travelled such a far distance, she couldn’t.
