The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Deven glanced at her entering the digits in her cellphone, as he tried to fiddle around with his power, it worked amazingly easy, he merely thought of making a sword appear and it worked slowly on his forearm like a long pike, he was learning very quickly and it could mean a possible threat to any human who piss him off. His eye's wandered and the blade shrunk back inside as the woman came closer to him, his heart beat increasing but more from stress than anything else, she didn't seem pleased by his comment, and it sounded like a smack in the face, and his true smile turned to a pokerface but he was good at those.
''Guess nothing ever happen's on the first meeting eh?'' Once again his canadian accent popped out of nowhere because of his stress, and about 3 inch spikes of iron popped out of his back because of the same said stress.
Deven himself had no clue who it was on the other end of the phone but the fact they didn't call back immediately said that it wasn't all that important at the moment and that they had understood the message, but in the truth, he really bothered more about this deal than any he made in the near past and the near future. ''Trust me, the number's you'll see coming your way will most likely keep you coming, you shouldn't run poor anytime soon.'' He smiled, still a bit unsettled having lost the cool that he had at the start of the conversation. ''And if you want, if you're open right now, I have something I want to know that I'm willing to pay for.''
A wide grin decorated Mina's features at Deven's response to her comment. It obviously affected him and the smile he'd been sporting changed. At his comment Mina laughed outright.
"I'd saying something did happen. Considering I hauled you to a hospital only to have you break out." she grinned, "Excellent job on that by the way. It was quite amusing to see the security guards scampering about."
The grin turned into a smirk.
"Besides, I never said that nothing ever happens on the first meeting did I?"
His slip, no matter how amusing, did give Mina some information about him. The Canadian accent he'd let slip for a moment was unmistakable. She filed the information away for later and paid attention as he offered what appeared to be a job her way. It was a convenient way to get the conversation going back in a direction of his choosing but it worked since she was interested enough to ask.
This wasn't good, Deven was losing the control of this conversation the more the woman spoke, it was like she was a predator ready to nom her prey at any sign of weakness.Deven laughed at her comment, somewhat trying to take back the control of his conversation, he stood up and took a step back. ''Well I still owe you a proper thanks, and as for the guards what do you want them to do to something that looks like this.'' At this moment he released most of his blades all around his body. Most of his body was covered porcupine like blades covering his back, one large sword covering each of his arms and a foot longer than his arm, spikes of iron mostly replacing each and everyone of his body hairs making him look like a a blade man. It was fairly impressing considering he learnt his power just about half a night ago, he was learning his power very..very quickly. ''Well this is easier than I thought...''
Deven was definitely becoming a dangerous mutant already. He already controlled his power like a young mutant with a week's or a month's experience. And he had the brain's to monitor operation's, with people like mina on his side he would definitely become someone important in the underground world.
Deven cleared his throat, trying to regain his composure but the comment about nothing happening on the first meeting just knocked him off again, and of course she chained immediately with another question making sure he wouldn't regain his cool. Clearing his throat again, showing the fact he was stressed. This Woman Was Dangerous!
''I uhh..I want to have information about the other mutant's around, power's and weaknesses, I'll pay you for every subject.'' He tried to get the question out of the way as fast as possible so she wouldn't be able to curb stomp him more.
The talk of business was important. This was true. However Deven didn't seem to be able to put aside any flirting she did. This was why she considered men just too easy to handle. She had yet to meet a man that wouldn't either flirt right back at her or become flustered. She allowed Deven to have a some space while he showed off what he could do. Mina noted that his control was progressing quickly. She reassessed his threat level while she closed in on him again. Like her lost toy Effigy he was fast becoming very fun to tease. When she ceased moving there was barely any space between them at all.
"Very impressive. You certainly do seem to know what you're doing with that."
His job for her was an easy one and one that she'd already done on a number of the local mutants, the criminal element in particular, for herself. It would be a substantial payment if he was paying her for each profile.
"It just so happens that I've been taking care of that for my own needs. I have a few files I'll bring by next time we meet for you."
The entire time she remained as close as possible, just to see his reaction.
Deven was in fact interested in Mina but he couldn't show her that much of a weakness or else she would probably end up laughing at him for some reason or another. He considered himself stronger and smarter than most human's too, in fact he thought he was better than most human's which would explain one of his later, brutal goals.
''Hehe I guess I do know how it works pretty well.'' With this said, Deven regained most of his composure, just from the thought that a woman was manipulating him to this extent, of course she was still affecting him like hell, but he regained his poker face. Of course he was paying her for each profile, else it would be a ripoff, and someday, he would pay someone for her profile, but he didn't tell her that, he just smirked and stared at her in her eyes.
''You're a smart woman, I had a this knack telling me you'd done that before...profiling that is.'' He chuckled making sure she didn't think of anything else, since she seemed to make double meaning comments at the moment, bringing his mind down in the gutter.
Even though Deven's face was back to normal, his body was shifting left and right, and his eyes glanced -once- downwards at her body just out of curiosity., She was definitely interesting no matter the distance between the two.
Deven managed to put his reactions in order, thereby ending any interest she had in flirting with him. Based on his earlier reactions she knew he was probably still affected by her flirtations but she had no interest in it if he was going to put on a poker face. Therefore she backed up and retreated to the table where she sat demurely in his abandoned chair. He even took the fun out of repartee by clarifying his meaning when he spoke. If it weren't for the fact that she'd be tipping her hand by doing so she would have pouted.
"In a town like New York where mutants regularly make havoc it pays to know who is who. I don't mind sharing that information for the proper incentive."
And that was the heart of it. She truly didn't mind sharing her research with Deven provided he continued to pay as well as he had for dragging his bleeding carcass to the hospital.
"Out of curiosity, who was foolish enough to attack you and leave you bleeding but not finish you off?"
She did have a curious streak in her. If it caught her eye she was generally will to risk some injury to herself to figure it out.
Deven sighed within himself, this was a relief he needed to keep his cool, if he didn't he could lose control of his plan's and become the asset himself, which was not what he wanted at all. He glanced at her back up and cracked his neck out of a pure habitude. Seeing as she sat on his chair he smirked, she didn't consider this done, maybe there was a way to do something.
''Well, money is always a proper incentive is it not?'' He picked her up back on her words again, feeling smart deep inside. He didn't think she would come back on her words specially when talking about money, after all he did think also it could buy the world. As for the price, it would probably differ from the time she saved his life, but she wouldn't mind she'd get loaded with more money than she could probably spend in the same hour, which satisfied Deven and his own needs.
''Some street burglar, I didn't know I could do crazy stuff at that moment. Came for my wallet, didn't feel like fighting, was a bit drunk at the moment, and they came up close and stabbed me...end of story..'' There was no lie in Deven's words, only shame. The young man noticed that Mina was curious, and wasn't gonna fight to keep that information a secret. Deciding to try a new approach, Deven tried to change the subject. ''You Hungry?''
She grinned at his assertion that money was always a proper incentive. It was and Mina was glad to be speaking with someone who actually recognized it's importance. She listened to his story about the street thief and at the end of it she snorted in disdain. Her objection to that sort of criminal was obvious. She hated sloppy killers. They gave people like her a hard time. A lot of people were foolish enough to not care how someone got dead, so long as there was a corpse. Thankfully, Mina had a long list of people who did care about such things keeping her employed.
She didn't actually voice these opinions to Deven but they would be obvious enough to anyone that cared to look. Instead she focused on his last question, the change of subject. Was she hungry? Not truly no. However she could eat. The question was, what did he have in mind?
"I don't know, what did you have in mind?"
Mina was fairly sure it sounded like she was talking about something other than food entirely. She didn't care. Even if he was going to be boring she wasn't about to let him off that easy. Now was less about ensuring that her new business acquaintance wasn't going to rip her off and more about her amusement. She had her money and a promise of more. She was content with that. Of course he was an information dealer so at some point she expected him to sell her out. That was a matter of course. For now though, she was willing to play. Perhaps he'd do better than the toy that ran away.
Deven's world rolled forward with money, why wouldn't he approve of such a thing, and he could see in her face that she approved of what he said, which made him honestly smile. Deven told his story, he would've thought that she'd laugh at him for being so useless in the situation but she didn't, but in a way she was on his side, as if she hated those kinda person, and weird would be the kinda guy that actually liked them. Deven was one of those guy that cared about how the job was done, and he kinda guessed that Mina would do the job the way he asked if the money given at the time was appropriate to the mission he gave her.
As said before, Deven was good at seeing the little detail in people's faces, which is why he always looks at them in the eyes, and he could somewhat guess most of her opinion. He saw her think a little about his last question, a smile was still perked on his face, he hoped she'd answer somewhat positively. ''Well as a matter of fact, I'm craving for some meat, like a good steak or something, what do you say?'' What Deven didn't know was that his body craves, and always will crave for meat, as alot of iron will be needed for the rest of his life.
Deven's mind was in the gutter too, but he didn't catch on that part of the message, not that he would say no seeing the opportunity arise, he was just really shy if she hadn't noticed, even though he hides it well under that though guy look. Deven didn't consider himself boring he just used the wrong words at some point of the conversation which set her back it seems...or so he thought. He knew her car was a few streets away, and he'd take the opportunity to show her his own car.
Steak huh? Well if he was willing to pay then why not?
"Sure, why don't we turn this into that date you mentioned?"
Mina let the statement hang, sure that it would reflect his mind back on other things she'd said earlier. With a very quiet chuckle she sauntered toward the door and pulled it open but stopped in the doorway. She turned her head enough so that her face could be partially seen over her shoulder.
"I'll see you downstairs."
She left Deven behind, uncaring whether he followed her or not. Once she was down at the bar she had the bartender pour her a drink and she drained it swiftly just because she could. Mina had no real desire for the alcohol she'd just consumed. She merely felt like it, since Deven would in all likelihood take care of it. The woman leaned against the bar as she waited for Deven. He wasn't as fun as her lost toy but he'd do for now. Just like any other man.
Deven was the one inviting her to dinner, why wouldn't he pay, it would be very stupid if he actually made her pay after inviting her himself. Hearing her say that she was turning this into a date, he smiled, as if this was actually one of his first times. ''Sure why not? Let's do it'' He moved to the door near his bed and closed it behind him after her downstair statement, he did a quick checkup, clean teeth, nice odor. And followed her downstair.
The bartender didn't really question her gave her the drink she asked with a smile while Deven could be heard walking down the stairs, new black tank top on with clean black work pants.''Put it on my tab'' giving a nod to the barmand, Deven walked towards the door waiting for Mina to follow him while taking his car keys from his pockets, apparently he drove something old. Considering Mina followed him to the side of the bar, it would be easy to see which car was his, it was the only one there, an old dodge charger 1969, with a clean pearl black color. ''Hope you don't mind old and costy cars.'' He smirked and opened her the door.
Mina followed Deven out of the bar and around the side of the building. The car was an older one and accoirding to him expensive. Cars were something that Mina knew little of beyond the basics so she would have to take him at his word in this matter. She slid into the car as he held the door open for her.
"It looks nice enough."
With business taken care off this was all just for her amusement like any other man she deigned to spend her time on. It was a game to her, to see how long a man could resist her. Deven had already proven himself susceptible. All that was left was to make him crack.
