"No."
"No, no, and no."
"**** no."
Nothing she said was going to change Captain Cynthia Meyers' mind.
"You're the only one we've got with the capability to do this. Your qualifications are perfect. You are unknown in this city. You have the right attitude to blend in. You've got acting experience, for god's sake. We need you to do this."
Jocelyn sighed. She knew no matter how many times she said 'no', the answer was still going to be 'yes' in the end.
She was going under cover.
Her son would have to be raised by his grandmother and uncle to ensure his safety for the duration of her assignment.
She was getting a tattoo.

"Can I get a tattoo, too, Mama?" He pointed to the newly engraved lines on her shoulder. Jocelyn smiled at her son through her tears. "Not until you're 29 and three quarters," Nigel informed him. "Your skin won't be ready until then." "Be good for gran and your uncle, okay Felix?" Felix nodded, "You'll call me, right?" "As often as I can," Jocelyn promised. And with that, Captain Cynthia Meyers whisked her into the airport to send her off for training. She was leaving as Jocelyn Banks, police detective and mother. She would return six months as Lupe, a violent human hating mutant in need of a home. It was going to be a long six months.
