The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

*Setsuna looked up from the bed and didn't reply immediately as she was stuck on him coming out in only a towel just before pulling a shirt over his head. After realizing she hadn't answered him, Setsuna lowered her head to the brochure. She scanned the words of the pamphlet, but wasn't actually reading the words.* "This place looks like an outlet, but if there are children, I don't want to put them in danger. Honestly...I don't know what to do." *She tossed the brochure to the end of the bed and looked back up at him in the doorway.*
Leaning against the wood of the doorway with his thumbs hooked into the towel in cowboy-like fashion, Ruben smiled slightly having noticed Setsuna’s reaction. Deciding not to make her feel awkward he rubbed the smile off his face.
“Well I just thought the school might be a good place… sounds a bit like a hostel… but lavish.” He said raising an eyebrow. “But you’re right…” he sighed as he moved to sit next to Setsuna on the bed. “I doubt anywhere will be safe for us until this Eric business is done with… what the hell do they want from you anyway?” he asked realizing he had no idea.
"It's not important..." *She replied, stretching her legs out and lying back on the pillow.* "Maybe this school is the only place we can go. I really don't know anywhere else. Plus, I think that would be the last place Eric would look. As soon as I get the money and you find your own place you'd like, I'll take care of it. It's the least I can do for now." *Setsuna turned her head toward him, half-smiling.* "At least we'll both have some type of semi-permanent home for a while."
Ruben nodded solemnly. A home was something he hadn’t had in quite a while. It sounded nice for a change. Although he’d gotten lost in thought, he hadn’t noticed he was actually starring at Setsuna the whole time. Suddenly looking awake, he sniffled his nose and searched the motel room randomly for anything to draw away from his embarrassment. If that hadn’t been enough, Ruben felt the towel around his waist constrict. Blushing rather quickly and moving as fast as he could back into the bathroom while trying hard not to walk awkwardly, he quickly shut the bathroom door as he said. “Guess we’ll discuss it in the morning!”
Starring at himself in the mirror, Ruben filled his hands with cold water and rinsed his face and hair. “That was emberassing…” he whispered to himself as he looked at his own crotch under the towel. “Thanks…”
Finding some cargo’s to put on, Ruben shyly walked out of the bathroom as if nothing had happened and went straight for the bed.
*Setsuna put a hand over her mouth as she watched him go into the bathroom. It was rather awkward when Ruben was staring at her not a moment ago until something else grabbed his attention. Now she was trying to hold back the laughter, though she did feel somewhat flattered. As he came back into the room and sat on the bed next to her, Setsuna swallowed her giggling.* "Uh, so you ok?"
“Uhhhh… yap….” Ruben said boyishly. “YOU?” he asked quickly as if to take the focus off himself. He had hoped she didn’t notice but it was obvious she had. Now he could only hope the giggling wasn’t malicious. Either way she caught him he was left with no defense.
Slowly, he lay down, getting ready for sleep. All the while, he could feel his heart racing...
*She saw how uncomfortable Ruben got when he laid down on the bed. Setsuna realized that her question wasn't specific enough to the actual intention. She more wanted to know how he was doing overall with everything that had happened over the past couple days.* "I've been better..." *Setsuna said with a whisper as she started to crawl out of the bed to head to the floor.*
Several silent minutes went by before Ruben rolled over to the side of the bed where he looked towards Setsuna and watched her. She was beautiful in the moonlight but didn’t want to get caught starring again. She was obviously still awake, not to mention a ‘ninja’.
“Hey Setsuna…” Ruben said quietly. “We’ll be okay…” he said reassuringly. He didn’t know how but he had to be confident they would find a way to set things right in their lives…
*Just as he said that, Setsuna turned over on her side to face him. She pulled the sheets closer to her body and looked up at him, while quickly asking something that had been on her mind.* "Do you have a family? Girlfriend?...Anyone at all??"
Ruben rested his head on his folded arm as he looked at Setsuna and the ground between them. His eyes fluttered for a moment as he thought but only one answer came to mind with every search...
*Setsuna couldn't help but smile out of the corner of her mouth, but it faded quickly.* "I'm the wrong kind of friend...I bring nothing but trouble to you." *She rested her head in her hand as she propped her elbow up on the floor.* "Where'd you get the brochure about the school? I've never heard of it before."
A warmth filled Ruben as Setsuna smiled but quickly faded with her disappearing smile.
"I uh... well actually the wind blew it in my face." He admitted with a small chuckle. "I donno... destiny maybe?"
After a moment of silence his eyes narrowed as he arched an eyebrow and leant towards her just slightly whispering "Hey... maybe I LIKE trouble." he said with a smile.
*She looked back up at him smirking.* "Apparently, because you keep running into it." *Setsuna pulled herself closer to his face.* "You were very brave with Eric and those assassin ninjas. Most people would've coward out. Even those trained like me...Thank you for what you did." *She softly kissed Ruben on the corner of his mouth and then took to the floor again.*
Ruben blinked more times than he could count as he was surprised by Setsuna's little kiss. His lips curled into a smile as he slowly began to nod.
"You know, I was thinking I was just being dumb back there, but brave sounds a lot better." he said with a wink and a small laugh. "Thank you, Setsuna." He added as he laid back down. "I just... couldn't let them hurt you... trouble." he added the last word with a big smile and look over to her.
"You sure you want to stay on the floor? There is plenty of room, or I can take the floor I don't mind... but I am willing to share I mean we ARE both mature adults afterall." Ruben said with a charming smile under the guise of an angelic expression.
*Setsuna hesitated for a moment, but Ruben was right. There was no need to feel awkward about sharing the bed. She picked up her pillow and tossed it next to him in the bed as she crawled to the headboard.* "Thanks. My back is killing me. One of those ninjas gave me a hard kick in the back when I was down, the bastard..." *She pulled the sheets and comforter back to get comfortable.* "When did you learn about your mutation?"
