The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The next few moments passed in silence, followed by the padding of feet and a rustling of fabric.
"You can turn around now," a familiar voice beamed.
"Ah, it was Amber!" Gina exclaimed, the realization finally striking her as she turned around. She might have been pretty perceptive, but there were moments that she had of... well, not catching on very quickly. She strode closer to the pale girl, smiling widely. The last that she'd seen her, Amber was in the form of a much larger, flying dinosaur. She'd nearly scared Gina out of her wits.
"How foolish of me not to have realized that it was you! Of course!" Gina smiled, "I thought you were a lizard, and you were just a really small dinosaur. How ditzy of me."
""I hope that wasn't t-too strange for you?" Amber inquired uneasily. Gina arched her brows and tilted her head as if to say, really, Amber?
"Not too strange at all," Gina assured her, shaking her head, "It was actually kind of fun. Except for the part where I had thought I'd killed you. That was not very fun." Gina broke off, rubbing her head as she reminisced, "I'm sorry I threw you off of my head, by the way-- I thought you were a dead bird."
Amber grinned wider as Gina expressed her realization of who she was. "I'm s-sorry for landing on you. Its a new form and I k-kind of miscalculated my landing." Her cheeks reddened in sheepish embarrassment.
"How foolish of me not to have realized that it was you! Of course! I thought you were a lizard, and you were just a really small dinosaur. How ditzy of me."
"Technically I don't just do dinosaurs," Amber explained. "I d-do all sorts of reptiles from the Mesozoic era. The lizard l-lived in the late Triassic period." Technically she wasn't entirely sure what the specific limitations of her power was. She knew she couldn't acquire modern forms and she knew she could only acquire reptiles, the Mesozoic era thing was just an educated guess. It wasn't like it was easy to come by fossils in other eras, although it was definitely something she needed to try at some point.
"It was actually kind of fun. Except for the part where I had thought I'd killed you. That was not very fun. I'm sorry I threw you off of my head, by the way-- I thought you were a dead bird."
Amber giggled, assuring the gargoyle that everything was all right. "D-don't worry, I'm more hardy than that. I probably would have freaked out too if a tiny lizard were to land on me out of nowhere." For once she had actually managed to have a good and even fun day. She couldn't remember the last time her days had been so carefree.

"I'm s-sorry for landing on you. Its a new form and I k-kind of miscalculated my landing," Amber apologized shyly, her face going as red as stoplight. Gina smiled and shrugged, and simply replied that, "It's okay, it happens."
Gina added on, grinning, "It's a cute form, by the way. So you could probably get away with landing on people's heads, given a little forewarning."
She watched with bleary, blank eyes as Amber began to explain that she didn't technically do just dinosaurs, but all sorts or reptiles from the Mesozoic and late Triassic period. So, ancient reptiles from two ancient periods of time? For Gina, that all boiled down to those things being "dinosaurs". But, she bobbed her head as if she understood, even if she didn't. After all, if Amber was an "ancient reptile" shifter, she probably knew more about "ancient reptiles" than Gina did.
In response to Gina's heartspoken apology, Amber assured her, "D-don't worry, I'm more hardy than that. I probably would have freaked out too if a tiny lizard were to land on me out of nowhere."
Gina chuckled and agreed, "More hardy then a dead bird? I suppose so."
"Forewarning next time," Amber agreed, nodding and grinning. Not that it was really something she had planned enough to give any sort of forewarning. Or planned at all, for that matter. Maybe it was just better to attempt stunts like that in the middle of the night when no one else was around.
Once Amber was satisfied that her explanation had been understood, she realized she should probably go and attempt to get some sleep. "I'm s-sorry but I should probably go and sleep before heading home to Sanctuary. Thanks f-for helping make my day, and I'm glad I didn't scare you too badly."
A few more days like that one and maybe Amber wouldn't have to feel so horribly depressed all the time. Maybe there was a point to living after all and sometimes she needed a little reminding of that fact.
